I'm new here and I need help.
Please if anyone can guide me on how to downgrade my phone from Kitkat 4.4.2 to Jellybean.
My nephew upgraded it for me and few days after I noticed my mobile data was not working anymore. Second I noticed was Bluetooth, it wasn't working either. I ignored it because I coud still use wifi, but a week ago it also gave up. My phone also restarts on its own.
I asked some tech and I was told it was because of the upgrade that is why I want to downgrade. Anyone who can assist me please? Or any solution that you know. I am not sure myself if the problem was caused by the upgrade. I tried checking videos on youtube on how to downgrade but I;m scared to brick my phone. I am not sure about the correct files to download and that sort of stuff.
PLEASE help.
I just want my phone working.
I tried to root my phone
by following a video on
YouTube and I think it's
already rooted.

Well, nope I don't think now you can downgrade your device from KitKat to JellyBean not possible at all because the boot loader may have been upgraded and if you even try downgrading the device by rooting your device it may results in bricking up. I would say rather than moving forward with the downgrading better would be to stay with the KitKat and keep your fingers crossed for the next update to fix most of your problems.

Depends on which variant of the S4 that you have. Some versions have ways to do a modded downgrade (not official via Odin like the good ole days...), but in general it's more trouble and risk than it is worth.
Thank you for your time and suggestions. I'd just want to add that my phone overheats even when it's off. And it also doesn't turn on anymore unless I connect the charger. I think its dying.

Did he update the phone officially or custom rom? By OTA or from the computer? I would reset the device and reinstall the latest firmware via Odin on the PC. If it was done via OTA, that can cause some odd issues, especially if the download was not 100% or reset during the process. It's always a good idea to reset when updating major versions, despite what the manufacturers tell you. I see it all the time at my shop and during my many many hours here on XDA researching and helping others.

Since you don't know exactly what or how it was done, it might be a good idea to post a screenshot of the About Phone section for us so we can see which update, if it's official, and all that.

What region are you using the phone in? It looks like the firmware is from Romania. Not that it couldn't work other places, but sometimes it works best to use a firmware and modem meant for the area you are using the phone in... Stranger things have happened.

I am in the Philippines and I don't know what firmware my nephew used.
I found video on youtube and did the same to my phone but nothing happened. I flashed my modem, it says on youtube, modem wifi fix, did it twice but didn't work. I also tried custom kernel but was getting error.
I don't know what to do anymore. It's just really very sad for a very expensive smartphone to not work. Bluetooth, mobile data and wifi are all not working. It doesn't turn on as well if you remove the battery unless you connect a charger.

I flashed my modem twice tonight, found a video on youtbe about modem wifi fix and it didn't work too. Custom kernel didn't work as well as I was getting an error.
It's getting depressing, I don't know what to do anymore. It's just that, it's an expensive smartphone without mobile data, bluetooth and wifi. It doesn't turn on as well if you remove the battery unless you connect a charger.

What happens when you try to toggle data? Does it turn on and right back off or does the switch to move to on not slide over or is greyed out?
I might try using Odin to install the Phillipines firmware, which you can find here:

It won't make it worse anyway...

Hello everyone. I have a problem with my Motorola Atrix and I am hoping someone might be able to help me.
I got it as a late Christmas present so its still practically new. I tried doing an OTA update from 2.2 to 2.3 and the battery died whilst the update was taking place. I replaced that battery with my spare battery which was fully charged, but now it won't load. When trying to load on startup, it gets stuck at the dual core logo and gives an error message if I press the volume button. The message says something like "Starting RSD protocol support". I am gutted...
I have been searching feverishly through the forums for some help, and I have come across some information with regards to the types of bricks, ie hard/soft, but I am not sure which it is in my case. There is alot of information available, but I can't find any with my problem. I am not opposed to trying to fix the problem myself as I have some experience in messing around with software, though that was back in the days of p2k-tools some 10 years back, but I would appreciate a nudge in the right direction and some advice maybe since I am almost clueless about Android software. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Additional info:
The phone is completely factory default software wise, so is not rooted or running any form of custom firmware. UK carrier - Tmobile.
I think you have two options. If it's still under a warranty, take it back to the store and ask them to repair it. Or if you don't care about a warranty, you can follow this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1136261 to unlock your phone and install a custom ROM. But if you decide to unlock you phone, before trying anything, read the post completely. I'm saying again, read the post completely before doing anything.
I myself unlock the Atrix and using a custom ROM and I have a pretty good battery life compared with a stock ROM.
Thank you for your response. I will look into the warranty idea and see how that goes. I hope there is not a long wait period which is my biggest reservation about this option since I need my phone.
In so far as installing the custom ROM and unlocking it, is there maybe another way that would allow me to continue to use stock firmware and OTA updates? I have been reading through some threads where they say once there is a custom firmware, running an OTA update could brick the phone. I also really just prefer to keep the phone original. If this can't be done, then I will have to give the warranty thing a serious go before I consider the alternative.

Go here > http://www.motorola.com/Support/US-EN/Android_Products/ATRIX-4G_Software_Update_Page. Another alternative is to flash 2.3.4 stock via RSDLite, but if the update went through on your phone you could brick. Hopefully one of these will work for you! Other option is to unlock the bootloader.
If you have a full battery why not download the T-Mobile software and write it back to the phone via rsd.

By now the battery is just short of full, but it should be enough to get through the flash. Where would I get the T-mobile software? I have checked their site and the latest android update they have is 2.1 on the site. I have also looked at the Motorola website, but their means of update is via an update program called Motorola Software Update.
Sorry if I appear a bit dense, its just from what I'm seeing is that I may only have one chance to do this and get it right, else its bye bye Atrix. I am still waiting on a response from Motorola with regards to my query about the warranty. If I can get it sorted myself, I will definitely prefer that as opposed to having to wait on them to diagnose etc.
Have a look for the ATRIX super firmware thread on here and see if the T-Mobile software is in it, it may be the old software but it's worth a try as you can send the phone in to be fixed or just take it to a T-Mobile store and let them deal with it for you.

If I implemented the automated update via the link you provided, could that circumvent the potential bricking you described, provided the program can access the phone? By the way, the link you gave was software for an AT&T mobile, while mine is T-Mobile UK. Will this make a difference?

Thanks for the offer pal. Wish I was in the London area to get the help but, I'm in Stoke.
Ok, i have no idea if this will work but hay the phone is knacked so why not give it a go, it's under warranty so you can send it back if it don't work go http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1125944 find the orange full and t-mobile service files, download them and write them to your phone via rsd, it's kinda hard to say what one first, its a shame that the t-mobile one is not a full one as that would be perfect, the battery should still charge so leave it on over night, also if can try and make a motorola service cable, that will put power to your so no need to worry about a battery, have a look on here as to how to make it.........ok forget all that if you check out post 276 on the link above it has download for the GB rom t-mobile uk which is what you need to wirte via rsd.
Even if you don't pay you're carrier for warranty Motorola gives you a year warranty on the phone and that's the sane with almost all carriers I sent my unlocked atrix in for screen issues and they still fixed it and same with my hd2 and ipod touch

Sorry pal, been busy with classes so no time to update the thread. Basically, I tried to update via Motorola software, but it seems it cant access the phone to begin the update process. I tried to do download the OEM ROM of 2.3.4 from the ATRIX superthread, as this seems the safest option to me, bit it seems its on a host that no longer allows downloads. I tried to request a mirror, but I don't seem to have the authority to post in that thread. If you or anyone can make the request for it to be reuploaded to another mirror, I would be most great full.

Yes I did try the link, but sharing is disabled on that host so I cant download it. That is exactly what I need from what I understand, but I don't have enough access to request a mirror, even though I have more than 10 posts for some reason.
Ok, well it seem over the whole megaupload thing any of the file sharing sites are playing it safe, you need to find someone who has the t-mobile file already and can send it to you, i have the orange one but not sure if it will brick your phone or not.

The OP of that file would have access to his files on the host, its only 3rd parties who can't download his files from uploaded to his account. If he/some one else who has it can upload it to another site, it would be fine. He should still have access to his files on his account with the host though, so if anyone is feeling kind to make the request on my behalf, I would appreciate it very much since I am being prevented from posting in that section myself. Yeah got the update just now. Digging around for changes.
Thanks man just got the update. Waiting for reboot now so I can re-root.
They added a file manager.
Before folks start diving into the OTA pool without thinking, remember a couple things:
1) OTA won't install with custom recovery. You need to return to stock recovery or else the OTA will send you into a bootloop trying find a stock recovery that isn't there.
2) Root is usually okay, as is unlocked bootloader (OTA will install) however, if any system files were frozen or removed, they will need to be returned to their "stock" condition otherwise the OTA will not install. Flashing the stock rooted ROM or RUU might be the fastest way to do this.
3) It won't be known whether sunshine and/or firewater s-off methods will work (firewater was already squashed, so its very unlikely to work) unless somebody actually tries it. If sunshine doesn't work, this means you will be stuck s-on until a new exploit is found. So s-off before you OTA if you want to be sure you can get s-off (until folks report this OTA is sunshine-friendly).
4) Back it up before you OTA. Personal data, pics whatever. If its important to you, and you will be sad to lose it, than back it up. Copy to your computer, cloud, whatever, your choice. OTA is not "supposed" to delete any personal data. But you know . . . Murphy's Law. This goes for any major system change, ROM flash, etc.

The standard root tools work on the 4.4.3 update. To update-
1. Flashed stock recovery
2. Did the OTA Update
3. Flashed TWRP
4. Rooted
I did S-Off a while ago, so I can't say whether this breaks the tools for that. All in all, easy peasy

To clarify, I get the charing error when plugged into a PC, which used to charge the phone just fine, even when not in power saver mode. It's still charging with an outlet, albeit probably not as fast as before. I'll try the factory reset even though the message when you are about to update basically says it's an in-place update that won't affect you files.
I'm now having other issues too. Apps won't update. Texts are sending but the apps are saying they are failing to send. The update really hosed this thing.

I have it, do you have a preference for sites to download from? I have Mediafire, Drive, Box, Dropbox and One Drive.
I'm uploading it to Google Drive and Microsoft One Drive. It might take just a bit, I have a 120 Mbps download with Comcast, but only 12 Mpbs on the upload.
Edit-What's your email? I can also share it through WeTransfer.
I bought a pre-owned g3 that was rooted already. I don't know how but in the meantime of me getting it it was updated to lollipop. When I got it I tried to root it. My pc can't find the driver I tried everything and along the way got a error that android security on 5.0 and newer won't allow it?
I went into twrp recovery and erased everything until it went into a loop of lg start page. Previous owner sent sd to I flashed back to previous update on twrp.
This is what I have now

I have had rooted phones all the way back to htc thunderbolt so this all isn't new to me, but I have never seen being able to go backwards like this with an update.
I don't know where to go from here. It is rooted per root checker but does not seem as fast as the un rooted lollipop I used the last few days. Since this phone is new to me any help this girl can get would be GREATLY appreciated. Please please please help
Thanks in advance.

This is what I have now

there are some drivers here. try and get it recognized so you can flash back to stock. cant really move forward until you get rid off all that mess.
^ What @bweN diorD said. Does sound like an awful mess and you need to get back to 100% stock and go from there.

there is no way either tot or kdz wont see the phone unless something else is going on you havent told us. its not going to flat out not see the phone for no reason.
Are you using the original USB cable?.

First, with your phone connected to your pc open the device manager. If there is anything that looks like an android device uninstall it. Disconnect your phone and Try something like USB deview (google it) and uninstall anything that looks like an LG driver then install the drivers again.

I am using the cord that came with this phone. Not sure if it is original or not.
I was able to flash a newer rom on to this phone seems to be working for now. I don't know what kind of mess I have as others have stated but unless I can figure out how to get back to the lollipop upgraded unrooted spot I have to make something work if that makes sense.
Honestly I wouldn't have updated it to lollipop but it came already updated. Thats when it all started.
I do appreciate all help though I might need to take this one to someone to get help I guess.

Thanks I am trying this
When you install the latest drivers (2.20 for Verizon LG G3), once you plug the phone in, it could take up to 10 minutes for the drivers to finish installing.

Hi, just got my Huawei P20 Lite in January and dont know much about them, I've had samsung phones for the past 6 years and they were much easier to deal with.
Anyway, for some reason my wifi will randomly disconnect weather the phone is in use or asleep.
i never had this problem on my other phone and every other device in the house works perfectly.
i have tried restarting, forgetting and reconnecting the network, made sure "WiFi off during sleep" is off. wifi+ is off.
tried the above methods and nothings worked so far, i dont wanna do a factory reset but i will as a last resort.
any advice appreciated, Thanks.

I did a factory reset and hope it works. I currently have 8.0.0.159 (C432) and my model number is ANE-LX1, vodafone branded.
Im hoping the factory reset will sort it out.
Just my penny's worth,I also am facing the same issues, constantly searching & disconnecting, despite having WiFi+ off.
However my software also a Vodafone handset albeit unlocked is on 8.0.0.151 (C782).

The hard reset won't solve it if the issue was still present on your last update 8.0.0.157, so I've done the research and your complete build number is this one C432B157 .
If the issue was not present before on build 8.0.0.157, then I advise you to downgrade to that version. If the hard reset worked then great
In case you need a guide just quote me again

Hi there
Same advice as the one for the OP, either downgrade to an older version until they fix it or wait for an the next February patch update

Hi AS,
Am I correct in assuming that if I wanted to "rebrand"
To flash "8.0.0.172(C432)" found here ?https://androidhost.ru/Tuu?pt=V1ZJdk9XWTBSMloyVlhRdlNHNVBTa2h6ZG5WQ1FUMDlPdmRCZFdZV2lSNko5NFlDTFgzbzVaZz0%3D thus enabling me to get more frequent updates? Will me being on c782 be an issue if I'm to flash c432
Update; Even after a factory reset its still happening.
Btw i would love to know how to debrand my phone.
I have tried the dload method, erecovery method, and the DNS method of firmware finder and nothing has worked.
Everytime I try i get "software update failed" and it's frustrating. Samsung firmware was easier to manipulate.

Hi there
No, to rebrand a phone you need to change the oeminfo image of the system, you must have an unlocked bootloader and a TWRP recovery to backup the current oeminfo image (C782).

Hey
Same thing as for the other person, you need to change oeminfo system image to be able to flash a dload package
As for the issue you guys are having with the wifi connection you guys should downgrade via dload package to an older version of your system, example: 8.0.0.159 to 8.0.0.157, this will delete all your data though, so BACKUP FIRST and only then downgrade.
That should work for the Wifi issue.
Cheers,
AS
See my guide for how I did this. I unbranded my uk ee device to a generic European device
Hey guys,
I have bought a Samsung S9+ via Amazon.
Because I am rooting my Samsungs since forever, I intended to do so again immediately. Used Magisk and so on.
Somehow this phone got stuck at the logo (bootloop?) and I couldnt use it anymore. Felt like the whole system was broken cuz nothing was possible.
So I downloaded a legit new firmware (I think it was the right one for my model) and used Odin to upload it on my phone. Then I rooted the phone again without any issues.
Perfect root right now.
However, independent from any used apps the phone reboots everyday by itself, lockscreen or while using. (I assume its not an app issue then..?)
I'd highly appreciate any help.
PS. I forgot where I got the firmware from, but it was definitely a legit website.
Here are some phone stats.
Modelnumber:SM-G965F/DS
ONE UI-Version 1.0
Android Version 9
Kernel Version 4.9.59-15540155
Please let me know if you need more information.
THank you ahead

I have heard that there is a "protective system" against root on the new galaxy phones, did you try flashing this too?
https://download.highonandroid.com/...65_PIE_Root_for_OEM_issue_devices_V5.zip.html
Hope this will help!
Thanks for the reply.
I think I have done that too.
Followed a certain guide on xda actually, which included 3 or 4 files for rooting.
Is it afterwards via magisk possible?
Whats the suggestion anyone can give me, except maybe as last option reflashing everything.
Also, where would I be able to find a proper firmware if that is the issue.
Thanks a lot!

Try cleaning cache partition, if it doesn't work, try booting into safe mode, and see if the problem persists, if not, it must be a app, disable apps one by one and see which one is causing the problem
Magisk can only flash modules specially designed for it.

I have actually factory reset my phone completely and while adjusting the first settings (right after the wipe, with no apps yet) it did it again..Reboot.
However, I didnt mention, the reboot might happen, but after the phone is back to its previous state, apps are still opened. Technically its not a real reboot then.
Happens once a day, no fixed time.
Is it a matter of a wrong root? Followed this one
youtube.com/watch?v=-Fx8sD8yqpw
exactly the same way.
Still looking for help :/
