You really don't need to post same problem twice here in Note threads. There are so many very helpful people here. We will usually get you up and running pretty quick.

No need to be sorry, I understand the sense of urgency when something goes wrong with your device.
The Mega is my 3rd device while a member here, but folks here with the Note are the best and very knowledgeable. Just need some patience sometimes. I know it can be tough.

Pay close attention to steps 16-17. Good Luck.
After this update to the newest recovery- cwm or TWRP (making sure you get the working versions for our device) and the development forums are your oyster so to speak.
Edit: Sometimes just flashing a superuser app will do the trick if this is your only issue, but if you came from stock this is how I started back in the day.
Edit: Some ROMs also require root access in developer options set to "apps and adb".

XDA is about sharing. If you have a fix, it would be proper etiquette to share it with others. Considering you posted this thread in the wrong section, its the least you could do.
Thread moved to Q&A.

Hello
So i just wanted to make a small and clear thread where newbies like me can come and check the most common answers.
Okay so my questions are -
I am Running 2.3.6 Gingerbread Stock on my i777
I bought this phone second hand so i dont know about the past of this phone. Also i bought this phone is US and then came to India.
My Phone -
Stock Kernel - i777UCKK6
Stock Rom - 2.3.6 - Gingerbread
I've read that many people are having problems on galaxys2root.com and have even bricked their phone by Installing wrong kernels.
So can you please tell me which Kernel i should flash ?
And which rom should i flash ?
Also will Flashing a new rooted ROM on my phone Lock my phone with At&t ?
Search and read.

It's best to stay away from that site entirely. The site developer has multiple similar sites for many different phones, and apparently does it for the money, and is not really very good at helping people. Also, while he is a developer, his products sometimes, as you mentioned, cause severe problems.

Some of the JellyBean based roms will. SHOstock3 will. Most of the others won't. If that happens, you can unlock it again for free with GalaxSim Unlock, as long as you download it from the developers thread and not purchase it on the market.

Hey, why don't you read Creepy's stickies for once? It's got everything you need. Without reading the stickies you won't follow the tips properly even if someone spoon feed you.
Hi Creepy, thanks for the wonderful tutorials. I have an unlocked 777 and rooted with that stickies only.
On a side note, ShoStock 3 will not cause loosing the unlock status for every devices. I haven't lost my unlock status after flashing ShoStock 3.

No. This method gives a recovery that could allow the phone to get bricked. It is no longer supported
OP, please read "[ref] read before rooting" in my signature first.

really? do you believe that you're the first person to ask for a rooting guide? you're not, which means you shouldn't have posted, but instead followed one of the guides on xda, which are easily found. hell, there's a link on the section list page.

Depends when you rooted. The bug was only identified in November and fixes only released in January

Really you should follow an xda guide, no point in linking to another site....if you have a query about their method you should address them, I can guarantee their method is copy/paste or rewrite of an xda post anyway.

Hi there,
You might want to check out samsung galaxy III toolkit here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1703488.
It is a fairly easy to understand command tool which will root your phone and also install custom recovery (which is essential IMO if you want to try different ROMs later on).

No, you can't use Odin to flash Slim. But you know what you can use XDA for? Reading. I'm sorry, but spoonfeeding is against XDA rules. Read up & flash slimbean. First you want a custom recovery & root, from there all you have to do is download the ROM and flash it according to the instructions in Slim OP. I'm not saying any more.

No one said you have to be a developer or expert. I'm certainly not. I only know what I know because I read things before attempting them. This isn't meant to be harsh, but right now your phone is in danger. Messing with your phone when you don't know what you're doing is a sure way to screw things up. So please do some reading. I already told you where to start, you need a custom recovery & root.

Good to hear.
The reason that everything looks small is that it's not standard dpi. Slim has default 182 dpi, stock is 240 dpi. You can change it, go to settings>interface>LCD density. Follow what it says there, the instructions work great there.

I've the same problem, after a full wipe and format installation of the Slim, my S2 is not rooted.
I've the fusionjack kernel included into the ROM...
Someone already solved this ?
EDIT:
I downloaded the superuser update.zip as explained in the second post, flashed it and reboot.
Recovery asked if disable to restore something, select "yes" and now my phone is rooted

I don't really think you can root your phone with a stock ROM
The way to root via odin is with a kernel.
if you don't know how, i recommend http://galaxys2root.com/
No disrespect intended....but forget galaxys2root.com........all the info you need can be found right here on XDA......and the chances are that 'other' websites got their info here anyway.......
As previously mentioned.....rooting with a custom kernel is your best bet......
Some kernels require flashing via Odin, but at least one can be flashed via the stock recovery.....
You can also use chainfires cf root.
Read some of the 'stickeyed' threads under the various S2 forums for links to the info you need.

actually i heard about this website before i knew about xda. so thats why i recommended it
So ? It's a bit much to expect most people here to help bozos who insist on using stuff from other sites when every method to do every thing you could ever want to do with this phone can be easily found here & people can easily get help if they get stuck.
This is the point that was clearly lost on you.

Hmm i'm not totally clear on what you're trying to say.
I know there are lots of methods to root at xda, but as i used it myself and was very confident while using their guides i just recommended it insted of looking for a good root method here. ( i haven't searched for any in xda as it's unnecessary)
And as most of guided are originated from xda as keithross said, we can easily help the person whether the guide is from xda or elsewhere.
The points that mistahbungle and I are making are...
1) the OP is here on XDA.
2) YOU are here on XDA
3) all the info that the OP needs is here on XDA.
And yet here you are, referring the OP AWAY from XDA......
What's the point in that?
And for info.....everything I looked at on that website has or appears to have been kanged straight from XDA anyway.....including rom and kernel assets (I think alliance rom and jeboo kernel to name just two were created by devs who posted them on XDA)......without mention of XDA or the devs who actually did all the hard work to create the software........not exactly showing support for the community, is it?
