There is DooMKernel, though it's for the slightly older .757 firmware. I don't know of any up-to-date custom kernels.

That's lame.
I remember that I could use CM7 ROMs in my old Xperia X8 with stock kernel. It was a stupid move trying to unlock the bootloader to change kernel, I just bricked my phone.
I have tried, but it has some problems (automatic light sensor doesn't work for me) and wifi drops signal sometimes. Stay @ fxp 9.0 :cyclops:

Yes, I did when I had my Xperia X8 alive. Check their section, they have a lot of ROMs based in CM7 Android 2.3.7 that work in stock kernel. The only neccesary things are root and CMW.
As I said, my big error was trying to unlock the bootloader just to use a ROM that needed a custom kernel, I don't know why I did it when other ROMs always worked fine, like GingerDX... I bricked my X8 forever, that's why I bought my Ray and I won't mess with the bootloader again.
I guess is due the different kernel architectures, or it's because SONY allowed to unlock bootloaders on the Xperia 2011 line, but it's very disappointing that most of the ROMs for Xperia Ray need unlocked bootloaders and customized kernels. That's why Hybrid 3.2, Superleggera and MIUI for locked bootloaders are a bless for us. @JJ Doctor, @arcatarc and @OatnezrA are true heroes :good:

Dont know mate, I got ray and neo v on my table ready to get out of sony stock and for some reason i just cant install it on them.
May be i will never by an another sony phone again
In last 12hrs i tried almost everything, flashed FXP129 CM9 no luck, tried to flash official cm9 rc1 same thing no damn luck.
this ray is booloader unlocked via s1tool, rooted and has cwm recovery but i still cant flash any rom on it. It's frustrating :silly:
dont use FXP129 kernel its a bad kernel . and when you flash rom did you flash the kernel ? because CM9 RC1 kernel is also a bad kernel . the best working kernel is FXP 128 and the FXP128 rom .

What if you try to re-lock your bootloader?
Hello,
What"s difference between all CWM methods (install.bat, RecoverX...) ?
I got an Xperia S rooted and unlocked boot and I would like to know if is there any limitation between all methods
What is the best for my case( Xperia S rooted and unlocked boot), i will use custom rom, kernel...
Thanks,
Sorry for my bad english
If you're unlocked, just flash any kernel you like. Arakmar's advanced stock is just stock + CWM and other kernels like XSX or KA have more features. Be careful not to flash a CM9 kernel though, it won't work with Sony stock.
Hi guys,
I would like to know what are the most updated ROMs for use with locked BL and stock kernel? (For X10 mini).
Thanks
Here you can find custom ROMs, which are compatible with stock kernel

Depends on the base of your mini Rom.
Stock ics based you can use any ics based kernel like suave, lupus, etc.
For cm based you must use cm kernels.
Yes you flash kernels in fastboot mode with flashtool.
send from my mt11i with cm10 unofficially (TheDarkDefender build) on fusion kernel v5

There are two miui version in this thread.
1. v4 which ist stock sony ics .587 based
2. v2 which is cm7 based.
For v4 you can use any compatible ics based kernel.
Look at the stickys and you will find the kernels listed.
On my mind are stock sony kernel, advaced stock kernel, suave kernel, lupus kernel and nightelf (aliance) kernel.
If you are already on sony ics rom you can directly install miui rom.
If you want more kernel features than you must flash a custom kernel. To do so you have to unlock your phone bootloader.
V2 is cm7 based as already written. To try it you must unlock your bootloader and flash the provided kernel that comes with the rom.

Yupp.
V4 ist .587 based and works with stock kernel. You are limited to stock kernel features. If you want more like overclocking, etc you must unlock your bootloader and flash an custom ics kernel.
With a locked bootloader you are limited, with a unlocked bootloader you are free!!!
Hi,
i have xperia mini pro - sk17, with defective usb port (not functional at all (broken pins)). At the moment i have erro rom (05/08/2013) with lupus jb v7 kernel. I know that twrp recovery on my nexus 7 flashes kernel, but i always flashed kernels on xperia devices (x8, mini pro, ray) with flashtool after installation of rom.
Now i want to install another rom and my question are:
- will cwm flash kernel along with rom or not?
- what other roms can you recommend for use with lupus jb v7 kernel in case that new kernel (from roms zip) doesn't get flashed?
- can i flash .zip with only kernel inside (to change kernel after rom installation)?
- are there any other ways to flash kernel without usb?
thanks
no, xperia phone can't flash kernel from recovery.
even if theres kernel in rom zip it won't be flashed.

I thought so, but after searching the forum i was just confused (a lot of people think it can be done - so there is a lot of misinformation).
So i'm stuck now with lupus jb v7 kernel - any good roms this kernel will work with?

kernel can be used on any JB CM BASED JB 4.1 or 4.2,
so maybe use LegacyXperiacm-10.1 or cm-10.2 by mikeioannina
