[Q] Battery life help - Xperia Z2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

What on screen time should i be getting out of the z2? Some days i only get 3-4 hours of just casual usage. Need to send it back to sony for a few other issues ( light leaking from where the glass meets the frame of the device, notification led is faded on the right hand side) and wondering if i should get them to check my battery?
Also should i be able to see light through the headphone jack?

These things are abnormal because i currently always pass 14 hours of life
And light should only leak from Sd card slot
Try contacting sony repair centre as you are entitled to a free repair or replacment as stated by your 2 year internatonal warrenty

14 hours on screen time? The 3 to 4 hours im referring to is on screen time, the device lasts a few days if i don't use it.

Lol yeah I get it. When you get 4 hours on screen what sort of things are you doing? Also what screen brightness? I always have mine at 100 percent. Anything less then that just doesn't look right imo.

[Q] Guys Doubt on my samsung galaxy s2(Battery)

Hi,
Guys I'm new to this forum...
I'm using sgs2 I9100
I'm having a bought here..
my device is not coming up for not more then 12hours..
2-2:30 hours of MUSIC.
2 Hours of Games.
No use of WiFi any internet thing for whole day..
when i post this it was abt 10 hours.
i'm using betterbatterystats
it shows like this
Awake (): 6 h 42 m 32 s (24152 s)
Ratio: 54.3%
Screen On (): 3 h 50 m 30 s (13830 s)
Ratio: 31.1%
i have attached the dump file here please do me a favour and say the problem why i'm not getting more than 12hours of stand by...
and sorry for the larger thread sorry guys!!!!!
Almost 4 hours screen on, almost 7 hours awake including 2 hours of gaming sounds pretty normal to me.
Indeed, if you're using the phone constantly, the battery will drain. Seems logical, no?
Did you buy the everlasting never runs out of battery model or the plain old model .???

With screen on: 3 h 50 m 30 s. So that means he was gaming half the time the screen was on. What was he doing the other half of the time the screen was on? Probably surfing the internet or facebooking? Who knows? He doesn't say. But if the screen was on, it was eating battery. Almost 4 hours of screen on time is pretty good, actually.
I also didn't see a remaining percentage at the time this data dump was taken, but maybe I missed it.

no!!!!! i didn't use any internet app because to see the stand by time i've planned to don't use the fb and any other internet APPS... but it says screen was on for 4 hours...
2hours i've been played games thats all..
either you use internet app or not, having almost 4 hours screen on sounds normal to me(taking in note that playing music and games does eat battery). i can continue for almost 5 hours screen on (gaming, online gaming, facebook, whatsapp blah blah blah) before i am almost drain out.
unless you are telling me that you just on your screen and do nothing with your phone.

I was just guessing. But the screen was recorded as being on for an additional 1hr 50 min, so you were clearly doing SOMETHING.
seeing your stats i noticed juice defender count is over 2000,juice defender never worked for me on the s2 try without, does juice def having issues starting the service?
my stats are similar to yours with 18hrs since charged, your usage and screen has been on for alot longer and i noticed your not rooted? theres really no point helping unless you use software by these mods since theres large improvements with battery life already
anyways this device seems so awsome, but 4hours of usage is sooo dumb... y couldnt they give it at least a 2200mah battery or something?
Playing games is very different from watching videos on your phone. It uses far more RAM and CPU power, both which contribute to high drain battery drain and not to mention the display is on and sound etc. Also, using Internet with 3g (data on) will use more power than internet using Wifi. I'm using a 2000mAh battery, and can typically get between 3 and 4 hours screen time making calls, texts, usings apps and browsing the internet over a 24 hour period, medium to heavy usage, easy. My oiriginal battery 1650mAh gave me almost 5 hours video playback streamed from my laptop (so wifi was on all this time aswel), and almost 24 hours standby. But i hardly did anything else with it.
I c, so my only question would be if I buy this device + a 2000mah battery, put on the newest android, how many hours video playback can I get with wifi, gps , sync and data connation off? I basically only want to watch videos .
That depends on the display brightness ur using but it should give u a few more hours I guess ;-)

How do people get around 2 days of battery Life?

I'm actually quite baffled. Max I've had is around 20 hours with 4 hours of on screen time. People get around 2 days with 5 hours of battery life. How is that possible?

If you cannot cope with average one day battery life buy a dumb phone .
Often these users with long battery life do not put up the true facts .
Two days since i last charged and 76% left .
But i have not had everything running all that time .
jje
Screen on time is a slightly better indicator, but even that varies quite a bit; reading an ebook = 9hrs, playing games/browsing = 4hrs. Leaving on the shelf in airplane mode = 8 days, but what use is that?
Best battery saver I've found is Greenify, kills all the useless and sloppy coding that eats your battery but the app still works when you need it.
I thought of the same. Just wanted to confirm. Thanks.
- Lowest brightness
- 2G Only
- Wifi, Gps off, all motion gestures and active view off
- lots of bloatware removed
- whatsapp auto dl photos off
I can get 3 days with stock battery and 2 days of hard use.
lol I could get 3 days without touching the phone.
I do believe that 4hrs screen time is pretty decent.
hell I can even get to 3hrs....so I have a spare battery with me 24/7

How's ElementalX 0.9 Treating your AT&T M8?

I installed the kernel with stock options, no undervolting, just sweep-to-sleep. I haven't had it long enough to comment on the battery life but I have about 1.5 hours of screen time right now and I am at 60%, also have been unplugged for 9 hours...so quite a while on standby as well. I'm thinking the battery life will be close to on-par with stock kernel at this rate.
I really like the sweep feature, and also GFX on games are more smooth for sure. Not that they weren't already but I notice a small difference. Thought about undervolting in the future, but as the maker of the kernel states, you don't really need to overclock this device, its already super snappy

How is this possible lol? I would love to know how you're getting 2.5 Hours screen on time and 18 hours off charger. Do you mean 2.5 hours awake? or Screen on?
By the time I reached 3 hours screen time, even with the stock kernel, I was getting down to the end of my battery

Yes definitely - I guess I should ask if you're doing anything special? What ROM you're running etc. I got 3 hrs 15 minutes of screen time and 18 hours off charger last night and I was sitting at 8%. Granted I play games throughout the day so without that I would probably be getting somewhere closer to 4 hours screen time, but still that doesn't even touch the rate you're going which would be roughly 10 hours of screen time on a full 100% to 0% charge

Stock Everything. Unlocked Bootloader Via HTC Dev. Rooted. Twrp Recovery. Xposed Framework w/ Sense 6 Toolbox. I run battery saver setting on at all times because I have no need for full processing power and data should always sleep while the phone is sleeping IMO. But I leave Haptic on and don't have it auto reduce brightness.
Last I had charged My phone to 100% on thursday night. Unplugged and did not plug back in until Monday night. That's the most I have gotten so far. Right now I'm at 34.5 hours since charging with 56% charge left and roughly 3.25 to 2.5 hours of screen on. I don't plan on having charging until tomorrow evening, but i still have my mophie external just in case.

Ah, I think that might do the trick there...I have my screen on full brightness, data is on at all times, and I click off power-saver when it comes on because it makes my screen dark lol...I think those differences right there would settle the confusion on my part!
Thanks for sharing, I know if I ever get in a bind where I won't have a charger for a few days, I'll use the Pure+ Method haha

Lol. Sound great to me! You can always change the power saver setting to not reduce brightness and not reduce processing power. Then it will just sleep data connection and some background data. That could increase your usage by a couple hours most likely.
im happy with it.

37hrs of battery life right now at 28% remaining with 4.5 hours of screen on time

I think that ?
It notes how much did it use in last 3 hours. During night phone is not used and it goes to deep sleep to save battery life. Lets say you went to bed with 100% and your phone lost 1% during 8 hours of night. It calculates that phone uses 1% every 8 hours and thinks that battery should last 8h*100%=800 hours (33 days) and its crazy long.
But as soon you start using your phone that predictions get to normal. Also first % of battery lasts longest (not sure why, its same on almost every device I had, guess it has something with battery calibration at full) so it shows crazy ammounts of battery life. Mine personal record is somewhere around 900 hours (I wish) but in the end its down to day or two.
Sometimes when I leave the phone charging on 100% and use the phone, it feels like I have charged it to 105% and first it has to be used like 1 hour to show the 99% numbers on my display [emoji2]
Yeah, 100%(100-99%) last very long. I can get one hour screen on by playing video with it or 20 minutes screen on with browsing. Of course u have to charge the phone for 10-20 minutes more when it just reach 100%.

Screen on time

It's amazing how much we actually use our phones in a given day, especially when we watch "videos"! Rate this thread to express how many hours of screen-on time you can get on the Google Pixel 3a before depleting the battery.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!

Yes it's the 3a. I think i could get more SOT without gaming.
From full charge to zero, I could get about 10hrs of screentime consecutively browsing, but that's not how I use my phone. In 48hrs of 'normal usage' I get about 5hrs of screentime.
I do about 3-6 hours of BT audio streaming daily which is why there is a larger than normal screen off usage. Still nice average SOT. I have so many sessions because I try to keep my battery between 50 and 80% for longevity.
I get 8 good hours.
What does Android 10 Battery say? Screen usage since full charge? Also Full charge lasts about???
Mine says 1 day 11 hours of typical usage. I always charge at night so it has rarely if ever run out.

the app usage of 66% is a clue. maybe you got some crazy app eating up battery. if you have bluetooth and/or wifi scanning on continuously that can drain a bit. gsam can be setup to show which app is using most by doing the adb command. just select apps for the details if you have not already.

Here we are after factory reset and flashing the latest OTA from
https://developers.google.com/android/images
Still can't hit 4 hrs SOT. Not once. I really don't know what to do at this point. Incredibly frustrating with everyone else on this thread having MUCH better results.
GSAM is showing some pretty beefy wakelocks on that "RemoteSoundTriggerDetection" and "*alarm*", ActivityManager-Sleep, etc.
I bought it from Best Buy. Should I go up there and see if they'll replace (highly doubt it) ? Maybe flash a custom kernel?
screen on time is a function of what a person normally does with a phone. one way to get high screen on time is you could set display intensity to 25% and timeout to 30 min. if you need that number to be higher. just let the screen be on as much as possible. when you first got it did you fully charge it then fully discharge it then fully charge again? screen on time is about the last metric i ever think about. i don't understand at all why it's so important. i'd be willing to bet some users set intensity to 20% and time out to 30 min or always on and do very little else then they get s.o.t. of 8-9 hrs or higher and think it's great when it's a joke. that's the way i look at it anyway.

Not sure if you're replying to me but I'll answer anyway. Yes I fully charged it then fully discharged it then fully charged again when I first got it.
It's not the SOT that is so worrisome but the constant Android system and kernel drain on my device.
I'm getting worse battery life on my 6 week old 3a than my 2.5 yo OnePlus 5 which wasn't good to begin with. This device was lauded for having excellent battery life and I'm not seeing it.

It isn't that at all. I found using it for anything where the phone needs to utilize the GPU a lot, like gaming, drains battery substantially.
