[Q] really lost here after hellfire rom - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

so i screwed up my first ever custom rom install. from the beginning...galaxy s3 running 4.2 rooted and frequent titanium premium backups. decided to install and purchase rom manager premium so i don't have to mess with files and transferring from the computer, as i can never download files for some reason. so while backing up through rom manager my battery died, i think. needless to say the hellfire rom installed but now i cant return to the old stock rom as i messed up the backup process. for one when in the manage and restore backup menu in rom manager the initial backup has a date of jan 13, 1970 for some reason, then when i restore and am in clockworkmod recovery, it stops and says MD5 mismatch! so i have no choice but to reboot. now the hellfire rom seems ok IF i could get the play store to open so i can get some apps. something about google services aren't installed or working, even after loading the gapp download in rom manager. it seems root access is and isn't working if that makes sense. titanium back up wont open either. im just at a lose here as i lost my contacts as well. cant my titanium backups be restored? if i can factory reset while "rooted" i would but don't want to brick then be screwed as my pc doesn't like to download and unzip files. im really stuck huh? my phone now says 4.3 i747ucdmg2, 3.4.62 hellfire

fixed it!
So where I went wrong was when I installed the gapps. I installed the apps for 4.4 instead of 4.3.

[Q] few questions about flashing

Hey guys i have a few questions, i have installed custom recovery and megatron rom. my question is
1)is it true everytime we boot our phone into custom recovery our phone will ne automatically taken to the factory reset?
2)for example, i want to install void rom, should i just straight forward install the rom eventhough i got megatron rom applied?
3)how do i overclock my phone, i have installed megatron rom but cant find any
4)how to create folders in the menu for tue megatron rom, i want to separate my downloaded apps wih my preinstalled apps from each other. There is no options available to create folder when i press options button in the menu. it sucks that my downloaded apps are together with my preinstalled apps
5)how to backup my downloaded apps, say, everytime if u boot ur phone into custom recover via three button combo your phone will taken to the factry reset and your downpoaded apps are gone right. so how to after i custom recovery, then restore my missing apps after factore reset my phone. i know theres two way to do that, with the custom recovery itself nand backup and titanium backup. but im not really sure how. Especially the tianium backup, say, i backup my files using titanium backup, then i install rom or something through custom recovery then of course, my downloaded apps will be gone after i reboot my phone right, and of course my tianium backup will be gone too. so how do i restore my apps if my titanium backp is gone.

Problems with nadroid backup with CWM / ROM Manager

Hi all, first of all, I apologize if I've posted in the wrong place.
I was never an "expert" with Android but I have used the EVO 4G for the past two years and just upgraded to the Galaxy S3. I rooted it this morning and have been playing with it. I wanted to flash different ROMs and try them out but I ran into some problems when trying to create a nandroid backup.
First I tried the usual method via ROM Manager. When I rebooted into Recovery, instead of backing up it just loaded the main CWM screen and at the bottom a message said it wasn't able to load the ROM Manager script and to make sure I have ROM Manager 4.4.0.0 or above (which I do). Then I tried to make a backup from CWM itself and after it was done, the date was all messed up as it thought it was 1970. Also when I booted back and loaded ROM Manager, it wasn't able to see the backup I made. I did try to make a backup in both my internal and external SD Card but didn't make a difference.
Please advise, thanks!
Don't use ROM Manager, no real need to use it for backups. Boot into recovery and manually backup (like you did). The date issue is a known CWM issue and will be resolved by them sometime soon I'm sure. The backup you did should be fine. I've backed up a few times (with the same date issue), but never tried restoring yet. Net Net, when you ran the backup manually (even with the borked date) you are good.
PS. I only use ROM Manager to rename the backups, as if I tried to manually change the name via a file explorer the file became invalid. If I changed the name via ROM Manager the backup was perfect.
I have also had issues with creating a nandroid. I have the verizon version so it probably has to do with it.
I have v 5.8.4.8 and installed it through ROM Manager.
I tried a nandroid and it errored with
Error while backing up boot image.
I'm guessing that it is known and has to do with the locked bootloader. But was just seeing if I anyone else had the issue.

I used to use ROM Manager to backup before mostly because as you have stated I could name the backup
Thanks for letting me know that even though the date is broke it's still good. I get a bit cautious when it comes to backing up

Restoring apps on fresh ROM install?

Hi all, quick question about restoring apps on a fresh ROM install. A while back when I dropped TW in favor of CM10.1, after I flashed gapps, all of the apps I had on TW were re-downloaded, I think maybe through Google Play? It happened automatically, and I was (pleasantly) surprised when all of my apps and their settings were restored without me doing much work - I didn't even titanium if I remember correctly.
Now, I'm trying to move to a 10.2CM ROM and I have no idea how to get my phone to do this again. It was very convenient.
Anyone have an idea how that happened, and how I could get my phone to do it again? One other thing to note is that I briefly tried 10.2 and titanium said that it did not have root access - anyone else have this happen?
The automatic backup and restore from your Google account is dependent on the gapps package that you use.
It should happen automatically after you go through the setup process.

Problem with backuping Apps

hey guys,
I have a really tricky Problem with my Phone. I just updated from cm-10.1-20130728-NIGHTLY-i9300 to cm-10.2-20130814-NIGHTLY and i didn't realized that this one is the first CM with 4.3. I update my Phone nearly once a weak (CM for 3 Months) and I've never had Problems. So I don't make Backups anymore. (I know that isn't really smart )
But now the Problem is the following:
My Play Store can't download or update Apps. It says "Update for {...} could not be downloaded due to an error. (Error while retrieving information from Server.[RPC:S-5:AEC-o])"
My Backup apps (Titanium and Go Backup Pro) can't backup apps anymore. Go Backup Pro just says "an error has occurred" and Titanium backup says "Backup successful" but when I try to restore it, Titanium says "An error has occurred" too. Unfortunately they don't give me more information.
When I started my Phone the first Time with 4.3 there actually was no Root. If I started an app needing Root it just said my Phone is not rooted.
after reinstalling my Backup-Apps through an apk they now have Root rights. I think. I can't check cause they can't backup apps
I tried backup my Apps through ADB but It just freeze.
I still could use my Phone but every 30 seconds it says some App has crashed^^ even if the App doesn't crashed and it works fine.
What I want:
Just to backup my Apps und their data. So I can wipe my Phone and reinstall CM.
Any Ideas?
greetings halliba.
PS: Sorry for my bad English. I'm from Germany
If you dont have a nandroid backup....
Flash 10.1 again over 10.2 - phone should work as before update. Use titanium to backup.

You're gonna have to use ADB then. I know you said it freezes, but really you should be booted into recovery when doing this stuff (adb)
Try that.

Problems with Flashing

This is by far the most painful flash I have ever had to do. Let me explain...
I have the htc one m8 with the ViperOne software. Recently they released the Android L version so naturally I downloaded the new 4.0.0 Viper rom and upgraded my firmware. Since I have a lot of data I backed it up using HTC sync manager which has been flawless. I also made a TWRP backup. I then cleared my data and flashed the rom flawlessly. Once that was done I went to restore all my data (pictures, music, settings, wallpaper, etc) using Sync manager. However, everytime I plugged it in and went to restore my data, it would freeze at about 1-7% and I would have to close it. It wouldn't work.
Naturally I restored my phone from TWRP and went into Titanium backup and made a backup. It took awhile, but it was done. I flashed the rom again but instead when I went to restore things from Titanium backup, it wouldn't recognize my data. It just said "searching for application data." I even changed the detection settings, but nothing.
Once again, I restored my phone from TWRP and this time decided to back up Titanium backup to Google Drive. It took an hour but it worked. I flashed the rom again and went to download the Drive zip file to my SD card.
Think I'm homefree right?
Nope, God played his cruel trick on me and instead my computer froze everytime I tried to transfer the file to my SD card. Now my computer is constantly freezing, I can't get HTC sync manager to work without freezing, titanium backup won't recognize my backups no matter what I do. This has been painful.
So here I sit, wondering, what in God's name do I do?
