G3 battery charger - G3 Accessories

I ordered the battery charger on Amazon 15 days ago and they are saying about 30 more till it gets delivered...is this normal?

In doubt
Normally Amazon delivers it's products fairly fast, but maybe it's stock of wireless chargers ran out just as you were about to order it? So now it could be on it's way from where it is being manufactured to you. It might even still be in the factory being assembled. As well as that, it might've been a communication error between the supplier and amazon's system, I had this too in the past.

Swollen LG battery

I bought my G3 in August 2014, and just run stock Verizon firmware. Recently I noticed that I wasn't getting the battery life that I had previously (nor the battery life my dad is getting with the same model phone). Originally, I would lose about 10% in a day of light use, but recently (last three months) it's about 30% in such a day. Not a big deal, but I didn't like the trend.
Annoyingly, the Verizon site shows the G3 battery for $39.99, but it's been out of stock for about three months. Last week, a call to Verizon resulted in the statement that Verizon is not stocking them any more. Not very good customer service, especially for a phone that is still under its two-year contract.
So, shopping on Amazon for G3 batteries produced lots of sellers selling them for $9.95, with "genuine LG G3" labels. Now, if you believe that, I have a bridge to sell you. However, I consider Amazon the world's largest marketplace for counterfeit goods (some of the G3 battery reviews reported VERY brief battery lives!).
I found a local "Batteries Plus" store which had Duracell exact replacements with a lifetime replacement policy for $39.99, so I headed there to buy one, planning to keep it fresh until the original battery degraded some more. The store manager suggested I open up the G3.
To my surprise, the original battery had swollen to 150% of its original thickness! I had previously checked it when I swapped microSD cards about three months ago, and it was normal thickness then. Further, my previous phone was an original Motorola Droid, which I used for four years before upgrading to the G3. While it also suffered some battery degradation in that four-year period, it did not swell at all.
Obviously, I immediately inserted the new battery into the G3, and left the original battery at the store for recycling.
So, just a suggestion to check your battery for swelling if you see a degradation in battery life, or every few months. Lithium-Ion battery fires are not unheard of.
I had this issue with my RAZR MAXX phone. With those phones, the battery was not replaceable but I would notice as the phone was used and became warm to hot, that the back of the phone would bulge out.
I took it to Verizon and they immediately got me a warranty replacement, even though my warranty was done and I wasn't able to upgrade with my new every two at that point. I got a RAZR HD in return, which was nice.
That's what is nice about this phone and it was one of the driving factors on why I chose it to upgrade from the RAZR HD (replaceable battery, bumped exploit so I could flash TWRP and custom ROMs and kernals).

I'm not sure they ever had the cradles in stock, they didn't even show up as an option for me either when I ordered.

Most lithium cells will swell up when they start going bad, it means its time to replace it, I buy "authentic" cell phone batteries on e-bay all the time for anywhere from $3-$10, although they look identical to the originals I am sure they are not "authentic", I never had any issues with them so who cares...some have even seemed to out perform the original...
You might want to be checking that new battery every so often. May be a problem with the phone itself - charging circuit or a bad component. Lithium batteries (especially Lithium Polymers) don't like being over charged nor do they like over discharging or having power drained from them quicker than they can handle (C-rating). They "Puff" - gas gets produced and since it is sealed, the battery swells up. in extreme cases and/or when some physical damage may be involved, they burst into flame.

Does anyone know of a vendor that has legitimate original oem new batteries for sale?

I've searched amazon and the bad ratings of claimed exact replacments are full of counterfeits. Ebay, forget about it. I've considered ordering from sprint but they want $50 for a battery and external charger that God knows who it was rebadged from. I've also considered anker. Some people love them and some say they see the performance taking a steep dive in less than a year. Many say the anker external charger is crap and falls apart quickly. I don't know if the phone or the Samsung external charger would beotch that the battery isn't official and refuse to charge it. I've seen this many times with both the phone and charger, when the hardware was definitely oem.
I have 3 "oem" batteries and 2 "oem" chargers. I write on the battery, the number in which I put it into service. So far, the battery that came with the phone lasts longer than the second. The 2nd is showing signs of buldging and erratic charging levels. After playing games for an hour and a half, it is saying I have 20 something percent. After a reboot, the number jumps to 70ish. My third and newest battery lasts the longest.
Any suggestions?

I recommend sprint or Samsung itself. It's just not worth a counterfeit that can damage your phone and won't hold a charge.
I had 3 batteries for my note 3. 2 from sprint one from Amazon. The Amazon started loosing charging function about 3 months into it. It was the same vendor that I had purchased my prior Samsung batteries from.
I got it because sprint stopped having them in Stock at a store and the eta was 3 weeks.

[Q] Battery swelling?

When I got my G5 (Verizon VS987) I also got a spare battery and charging dock as a promotional extra.
The charging dock is connected to the USB port on my PC. When I swap batteries I put the discharged one in the charging dock and remove it when the lights indicate it's fully charged. If I don't swap batteries for a few days I'll stick it back into the charging dock for the few minutes it takes to bring it back to full charge.
Now I notice one battery is swollen, as if from charging too fast or ???
It still fits into the phone with some difficulty but it does fit.
I'm wondering if I should discard it or keep using it, wondering if it can damage the phone?
Any thoughts?
Do not use the swollen battery any more. Do not toss it in regular trash either - find an authorized battery recycling operation in your area. If you can't locate one immediately, store the battery in a dry, cool spot with electrical tape over the contacts until you can dispose of it properly. Continued use may cause the battery to fail and catch fire and/or explode.
Batteries can swell due to overcharging, but also wear and tear aging with frequent full charge cycles. If you've been using the battery daily for about a year it is not uncommon for it to show such signs of wear. Failure rates are also more common with cheaper, off-brand batteries that aren't made as well to begin with. Buy a replacement battery and make sure it is OEM quality.
I've had this happen once before with a Motorola V3 battery so you see how long ago that was!
I believe it's the USB port allowing charging at a faster rate than the factory charger? Two requirements, the charge must be from a USB port and the battery must be very discharged.
The swollen battery is genuine LG, sent direct from LG, whatever quality that might be. Both the swollen Motorola batteries continued to work just fine in the V3, the LG battery works but is VERY difficult to remove and is now out of the phone forever.

It's not a problem of faster charging, but overcharging. The longer and more often a battery is charged 100% and left there, the quicker it wears out. If the battery is about a year old with daily use like this, a bit of swelling isn't unexpected.
There is no immediate threat from swelling but it is the start of failure if allowed to continue use. You surely don't want it expanding inside the phone from heat until it gets stuck and/or cause GPS, volume or other contacts to mess up by expanding the frame, etc.
Batteries aren't too expensive so order another one.
Not sure I agree, evidence seems to point to heat as the culprit since the battery wasn't charged that often.
Anyway, OEM batteries are available on eBay for under $12 and one should arrive Monday.

I wonder if those are legit LG made.
Yup, why wouldn't it be? It's a unique battery for an obsolete phone, everyone that has any quantity is dumping them. The one I'm getting is from an "overstock" dealer.

Yeah I was just curious. Will buy few myself that's not a bad deal at all. Yeah I can't blame people, this will be my last LG phone. Great specs and price, but build quality trash.
Sad part I know 3 people with LG V20 who are also having build quality issues. Speaker going on all of them and this is a common issue.

I guess I've been lucky, I've had very few problems. I really miss an unlocked bootloader and a rooted phone with a custom ROM but this seems to do the job other than about 90% of the "wonderful" features being stuff I don't want, don't use and would delete if the phone was rooted..
I really wanted the removable battery and the SD card, I think LG is my only option for both isn't it?
I have no idea what (or IF) my next phone will be, maybe I'll drag out my old Motorola V3 and use it? <G>
Seriously, no kidding, it's been all downhill since my BlackBerry Bold.
I bought two spares batteries, one from Ebay with the external charge case that looks genuine but the battery lasts about 20-25% less than the original battery and a second one from Aliexpress that lasts half the time of the original battery. The one from Ebay ways the same as the original, the one from Aliexpress is lighter.
On both the batteries the green heatshrink is not exactly the same color as the original one.
So I think none of those batteries you can buy from those sites will have the same capacity as a original battery from a official reseller.
The one I got seems to be OEM, I suspect the ones you got were just old, I can't imagine anyone making an aftermarket battery for such a low sales volume phone.
I believe any battery you get will be 3 - 4 years old before you get it, that may be why the one I got took almost 40 hours to reach full charge.
So far it seems it will last as long as the original but who knows?

Got New Battery, Cancelled Pixel XL 2 Order

Yeah, I know, somewhat repetitive.
So I placed an order yesterday for a $900+ phone. I wanted it. The anticipated lack of supply elevated my desire. Frankly, I was stoked when I saw the Oct 17 ship date. I probably would have had it the same day, as I'm only 30 miles from the drop ship location.
But this morning, I looked at the order again. $914.79. $914.79. For a phone. And it doesn't even have Band 71 (I'm T-Mobile).
I recently found on eBay what was held out to be a true factory OEM battery. I had intended to keep my 6P as a backup after I got my shiny new Pixel XL 2. This morning, I looked up who Google uses to do their repairs. It was UBreakIFix. Went online, there were 3 stores withing 15 miles. Called them. $45 to replace the battery as long as I supplied the battery.
The tech was knowledgeable. As in he took one look at my battery, still in the anti-static, and could tell it was true factory OEM. Said he has replaced the battery on tons of 6Ps in the last three months. He said that they normally use factory OEM for 6P replacement, and the batteries aren't hard to get. I did not ask what they would charge for the battery (I paid less than $20 I think, eBay).
So I left it there. Used my Nexus 5 as a temp phone.....and dammit if the battery wasn't WAY better than the 6P.....but oh such a small screen.
The phone was done in about 30 minutes. I picked it up. My phone is good as new. I could immediately notice the difference.
I just cancelled my $914.79 phone. I'll wait for the XL 3 unless the phone dies before then. I have my Nexus 5 as a backup.
So, if you're like me, sitting on the fence on the XL 2, debating whether to replace the battery or get a new phone.....replace the battery.

I got it from a seller called "battery_expert". Mostly because he sounded like he was a battery expert. $17.30.
I just checked and there are no more left.
Honestly, UBreakIFix was way more on the ball than I had ever anticipated. Your mileage may vary.

You know what, i just cancelled my order too. Seriously, $900+ for a phone. I realized how good the 6P has been even after two years. There is nothing new that i can do on a pixel 2 that i can't do on my 6P. Going to replace the battery and ride it out until the phone dies at some point. Thanks for the sanity check lol
Yeah a few months ago I contacted Google and they said they'd send a replacement 6p. After a month of nothing, I talked to them and they said it was on backorder so they'd just refund me my money. I thought "cool, I'll use my M8 and spend the money on a pixel XL 2". Then a day later my refurbished 6P showed up.
Battery life is pretty damn good again, especially on Oreo.
As much as I like the way the XL 2 looks, it's not that amazing to me to justify almost $1000.
I'm perfectly fine using this thing for another year.
Which ebay battery did you buy?
I may wind up doing the same thing. I got a quite from UBreakIFix with a new battery from them for $89.99 which I couldn't quite stomach.
Unfortunately right now its a shot in the dark with eBay batteries are there are no known good sources still available.
I may be tempted to try this one as a $45 ish repair is a lot better then $90.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/192239649598
Was thinking of getting Pixel XL 2 as well , but since my 6P performs flawlessly, I'll stick to it for the time being.
I love the xl2 myself but the 6p has always been my favorite device for a reason. The phone is still today one of the best phones you can buy so I'm with you guys. No way I'm spending that much on a phone.

When do they usually have sales on new devices? I may wait until they have a price drop or sale on the XL. My guess is after the new year we may see price cutting.

Doubt Google would actually lower the price until after the XL 3 is on sale. What they would do is throw in more and more valuable add-ons, like a full size Home, or, depending on sales of both, even a Home Max after a few months. Free VR Googles, anyone? And any combination thereof.
Third party vendors will likely have them for a cheaper price after a couple of months.
My 6P is still under warranty. I sent it in for dying at 15% and it went to a Huawei authorized service. Came back after a week, the report says they changed the battery, the pfc board (it's the board the charger plugs into) and main camera (which i had no issue with). It's been two weeks with it and the battery is just as bad as before - still dies at 15%, AccuBattery says 2233 mah capacity and I get about 2h screen time. I'm not sure what to do now.. Is it possible that a new original battery would be this bad? Should i just give up on it or send it in again under warranty? I was really hoping on riding it out another year at least..
I'm pretty sure that they didn't changed your battery...

It's not cause it's hit or miss. So many problems plague this phone and it comes with one of the most half assed processors ever. The op3 is a much better buy
I went to a local shop in Toronto, near Kennedy and Highway 7, and paid $50 cash (no tax) for the battery, and I had them replace the rear glass as well due to a scratch on it for an additional $20 cash (also no tax).
Finished in about 30 minutes, has a 30 day warranty and was done on Oct. 3rd. After 3 drain/charge cycles (apparently required for warranty to be valid... how they'd know I did it or not is not known.. did it anyway) my battery life has doubled.
Before fix, I'd get the early shut down at 50ish percent, but now I get a full battery charge to 0.
I'm pretty sure I have some knock off as the temp sensor remains a constant 30 degrees Celsius, even after I put it in the fridge for 3 minutes to test it out, but I'm not too worried. I don't use rapid chargers, so it's only ever charging with 2.4A.

Your current battery is bad at only 65%. Whether they changed it you will never know. Like many others here, I would order a battery from a known good source and pay a local repair shop to replace it. Then it should last a good long time.

Man congrats!! That's a good story indeed. I don't blame you for cancelling your order. I personally could not believe of all companies that Google would leave the headphone jack off the phone. Being a purist company I mean you gotta include the headphone jack. It's a nice phone but I can tell you from experience coming from the Samsung S8 which also had the 18.9 ratio that it was way too narrow. The proportion was way off to me so I sold my S8 and was able to locate a brand new Nexus 6p 64g that I ended up buying for only $150!! I got extremely lucky on my deal. I couldn't agree more with you as your 6p will easily last you another year if not longer and is every bit just as good as a phone as the pixel 2 and my Samsung S8.

2018 Battery Thread

Since Anker is no longer producing Note3 batteries, what batteries is everyone using and are they any good?

Has about doubled my battery life. Really great. bought one for my wife and equally happy. The production date is said to be 2017 and the battery seems real fresh to me .

I have ordered a second one from them a month ago. First one lasted me 3,5 years (original one from Samsung died after six months) and is still holding charge pretty well. I got 4 hours of sot easily with 3,5 years old one. With new one 7-8 h. Very satisfied with them.
I bought battery made by Duracell over 6 months ago from Amazon. So far so good.
I have learned to avoid the "OEM" claimed batteries and still think Anker batteries were the most consistent I have had very good luck with

I ended up getting a "4500mAh" MPJ branded battery off eBay for twenty bucks, as the better options up above don't ship to where I am at.
Appears to work about as good as 2 year old 3200mAh Ankers.
Identifies as 3200mAh as well.
1/3 refund commensurate with discrepancy no questions asked.
I guess they have to lie to stand out enough to even move a single unit.
Still using the original one, it still holding charge pretty well after 3.5 years of work (last 3 day, normal use)
Here's my anecdotal response.
I've used Anker batteries twice in my Note 3.
The first one started to fail, and was clearly bulging after about a year, so I disposed of it at a location allowed for battery disposal because I could literally see the OEM samsung case bulging from it expanding. It was never dropped, or exposed to extreme temperatures, and always in the samsung window case, or the otterbox defender (which may have increased the heat level without me knowing, but that's just speculative so take that with many grains of salt).
Having used Anker batteries many times before, I assumed the first replacement could have been a knockoff, or just from a bad batch, so I replaced it with another Anker of the type. Both were purchased on Amazon. I have had absolutely no issues with the second one, though I do feel the phone get warm when updating my ROM, etc, but that's to be expected. Aside from that the battery life has been very good, with a year and a half of use on it, and I never get concerned about daily use, out side of plugging it into a charger when doing gps/music for a long distance. Even without being plugged in, it stays pretty solid.
Full disclosure for my usage: I'm a light user during the day, aside from calendar, weather, 2 email addresses set to push, and 2 email addresses set to 15 minutes, a few texts, dropbox, drive, onenote, and google all on manual sync, and few phone calls. I'm also on lineage 7.1, rooted, xposed, and bloatware removed or blocked.
TLDR, my current Anker replacement works very well for my needs, but the first one did begin to fail to the point of it looking like it might go into a full failure at a dangerous level, so I can't be sure if it was a knockoff, a bad batch, or just bad luck.
I am using 6400mahs battery from ali express..gives two days easily
Trying Powerbear
Ordered a Powerbear last night directly from their site last night as that ended up being cheaper than Amazon. Hopefully this will allow my 2013 Note 3 to function a day with medium use.
Update: The Powerbear battery is working well. It came with instructions to fully charge and drain the battery a number of times to allow the system to calibrate things correctly. After following that process, I'm now easily seeing a day of battery life with medium use.
im still using my note 3 rooted on kitkat with the original battery 3200mah last all day at least
I'm using a new original battery that i got around 6 months ago. I get 5-6 hours screen on time.
OEM Samsung (if you need NFC)
I have always had the best performance with Samsung-branded OEM batteries. Some after-market batteries do NOT have the NFC antenna, so no NFC services . . .
One caveat though, watch out for used Samsung-branded batteries that are re-labeled to look like new. I had an instance that the battery I received was used and the case dented. The silver-black Samsung label had the corner near the bottom of the battery slightly folded back and crinkled. Also the electrical contacts showed signs of heavy use (wear and scratch marks). Luckily, the Amazon merchant replaced it with a genuine new Samsung battery in the original plastic case.
The prices seem to be getting better but eventually Samsung (or their OEM partner) will stop production (or maybe already has stopped), then the prices will be stratospheric . . . YMMV as always.
Trusted brand..sun global 3650mah capacity

Im looking N9005 Battery +6400Mah with all resistance and good rated by users what do suggest;
