Hi guys, im using the latest build of paranoid android which is 4.46 beta2. I got a cannot connect to camera error awhile ago. Whenever I try to open my camera, the error appears. But then I restarted the phone then the camera is working again. Is this a known bug since the PA ROM is CM based? I just wanna make sure.
Thanks!

I've personally never had any issues with the camera, but the camera has always been an issue with aosp im pretty sure. Just download google camera from the play store and see how that goes

My camera seems to not work or barely work with other apps that takes use of the camera such as snapchat (partly works), instagram and vine (both not working).
By not working, I mean by when I try to record on any of these apps, it crashes and stops working. When it crashes it makes the default camera app stop working also.
It seems to be an issue to AOKP/CM as for my friends who are on a S3 running AOKP are having the same issue.
Have you full wiped? Are you running the latest version? Have you cleared data for camera? Are you using a photosphere camera or the stock one? No one else seems to have this issue in the main thread

yup yup yup yup yup yup, stock.
That shouldn't be happening if you did all that. Try uninstalling the apps and downloading them from the play store

I flashed multiple ROMs to my phone and any ASAP ROM (Cm based) would have the same issue. Same with my friend's Galaxy S III
I have two phones Samsung Galaxy Note (AT&T) and Samsung Skyrocket (i727).
CM 10.1.2 are installed on both.
Instagram - The video recording feature works on the Skyrocket, but not Note. The camera feature does not work until I disable 'advanced camera' option in the Instagram App itself, but the video feature is not available. Latest build is installed.
SnapChat - The camera and video recording features work on Skyrocket, but not Note. The camera and video access to snap chat hangs the operating system and you can see green over the camera image if it appears. Latest build is installed.
From Clockwork Touch Recovery (latest version), I have cleared cache, wipe dalvik, and wipe user data options prior to installing the latest CM10.1.2 and nightlies on the Note, but I still cannot get it to work. Fiddling with the developer options such as hardware overlay and hardware anti aliasing are not helping.
I spent a long weekend trying every build since CM 10.0 on the Note. It appears something changed in the nightly from April 15, 2013 or so nightly build that broke support in the camera. If I go back to the April 11 experimental build or 15th nightly build, both the Snapchat and Instagram work on the Note without issues.
Wrong thread. Try disabling HW overlays.

Disabling HW overlays did not help. I get a black screen on Instagram. And Snapchat still freezes/crashes.
Flash a stock ROM.

Flashing a stock rom obviously works, but that isn't the goal of my post.
Per my original comment, CM 10 did work properly until 4.15.2013. I think a bug was introduced. The i727 (skyrocket) does not have this problem even on current builds. Is there any place to file a bug ticket for the quincyatt CM build? My openID doesn't seem to be allowed on CM's Jira system.
Have you tried different ROMs?
Instagram was working (mostly) for me on PACMan. Haven't tried 4.3, but the 4.2 version. The only thing is apparently video didn't work right...but I don't know, never used video.

Do you mean video recording or playback? Both were working in CM prior to 4/15/2013 on snapchat and instagram. Where can we report a bug?
Apologies, I should have specified.
I meant video recording is buggy. Everything else works fine, though.
As far as bugs, you can report them to the ROM developers in their thread. I'd try and provide a logcat if possible, so they can figure out the issue more.
I'm running the 10/04 CM10.2 nightly and Focal crashes on me whenever I try to take a pic. The preview, focus, and all the options work fine, but it crashes when I try to snap a pic. The regular camera app works fine. Anybody else had this issue? Should I just try going to a new nightly?
Focal got removed from CM recently. Best to install a new nightly and download focal from play store.

The dev had already pulled it from CM on this nightly. I have the one from the play store. It worked fine when I first downloaded it. I think an update to Focal might have crashed it. I'll probably wait for an M snapshot to drop and then try again.
Hi everyone, this is my first post on XDA
I downloaded the new Google Camera yesterday when it was released, I must say, I'm liking the simplicity..
When I try to go to setting however, it just closes and says "Unfortunately camera has stopped". What could be the cause?
I am running cyanogenmod 11 m5 snapshot, stock kernel as well.
Thanks

Same issue for me, I have Resurrection remix and omni libs/camera.
It's an issue almost for everyone. Wait for a fix.
Same problem goes here over I9300 powered by UltimaAOSP ROM 4.4.2_r2 with ART Runtime enabled
Has anyone been using these builds for the vs985 by Invisiblek?
I haven't tried yet, but I was hoping to get some info on the rom before I dive into flashing and such.
The magicalness of CM13 is being discussed in the CM 12.1 thread located in the Original Development forum. I suggest you go there for info.

I've been running new builds for almost a week and I've not had that problem.
Found the problem was the new cm apps which included the dialer removed them an dialer works fine.

I had this same exact problem. I am currently running the 20151118 build. I tried the 20151119 build but couldn't get my phone to boot. I have yet to use any of the newer builds.
I've been running the latest builds no problems at all. The only thing that I have to do is if I'm flashing an update I flash the zip and also flash the make permissive zip. If you don't the ROM will not boot. I hope this helps.
CM13 has been running great for me, aside from:
a hard lock when trying to pair bluetooth devices. No matter what I try, I can't get this to work.
The built in camera app is good for one picture at a time for me.
20151129 nightly and these issues are still present. If these aren't dealbreakers, or if you want to see if maybe you don't have these issues, give it a shot.
