Hello
I'd be REALLY grateful for some (easy to understand) help, please!
Long story, but my rooted GT-5830i was playing up, memory-wise, a tad so I restored it to factory settings and formatted the sd card. However, I forgot that I'd previously uninstalled the stock keyboard (desperate to claw back some storage space) as I use Perfect Keyboard; now I can't do anything!
Is there a way that I can reinstall this, or another keyboard, (or just reinstall Gingerbread maybe?) from my laptop or via the sd card?
I'm no expert so would really appreciate it if any advice treats me like a pretty dull turnip!
Many thanks in advance

Just Flash the stock ROM via ODIN!!
Or you might consider installing CM11 on it

i've recently bought SGS and i'd like to root it and upgrade my firmware into gingerbread, which is currently froyo. should i root it now? because i see that rooting makes my warranty void. but if i could guarrantee that rooting won't make my phone unusable, or any bad loss happened to it, i think i will root it and upgrade its firmware. they say rooting has some risk tho.
and if i root my phone and fail, Question:
1. can i bring everything back? 2. but if i couldn't start my phone after rooting failure, is still there a way to fix it?

all i want is to make my phone a lot faster, have outstanding features, and the one that transfers external memory into internal.. so i have 32gb microSD card, and 16gb internal memory, i will transfer like 20gb external into my internal so it will become 36gb internal memory.. and that would make my phone lot faster. and i don't know much about that superuser, busybox and that voodoo thingy. so like even if i open any game or like viewing the application tab from 1~5tabs there won't be any kind of lag happens. (especially when i minimize the application tab (5 tabs) it's so laggy D.

No Guarrantees. Always. Odin is useful for bringing your phone back to a stock state.

Hi,
I upgraded my Galaxy S2 [3 UK] to the 4.0.3 version with Kies and then rooted it with Odin and CF-Root-SGS2_XX_XEO_LPQ-v5.3-CWM5.tar
Everything is working great, except the applications that I had moved to the SD card. Those have stopped working, and the shortcuts on the home screen + in the Applications menu have the icons replaced with a transparent grey one with an Android logo and an SD card with "SD" written on it.
I checked the SD card in my Linux PC with Mass Storage mode, and the .android_secure directory is still there and has the various files which I believe belong to the missing apps.
Has some security key been destroyed or what is going on here? Can I get the apps back or should I just bite the bullet and reinstall them?
Thanks for any help!

reported same issues before and found no solutions answered.....I think some config changes from GB to ICS making issues,
your earlier version was not rooted and no backup available?

My previous version (2.3.5) wasn't rooted although the one before was, and I do have a Kies backup but I don't think it includes the applications. It's not a very big deal since I can download all of the applications again, and it doesn't seem that any of my media files on the SD card have been affected, but I was just hoping to avoid having to do that.
But thanks for your answer! I'll make sure to do a full backup including apps before I try rooting next time.

Actually I said that too soon. When I try to install one of the apps affected I get a message "Error - Couldn't install on USB storage or SD card."
So I guess I do need a solution to this if at all possible.
SOLVED - I flashed the stock kernel back, from Kernel_I9100XXLPQ.tar.md5. After rebooting, the SD card was scanned and all my applications work again!
So I guess the answer is, flash the stock kernel back and all will be well (root still works). Also got rid of the yellow warning triangle at boot!
Next time I'll have a Titanium Backup before I start flashing/rooting

Hello! I updated Jelly Bean today following the guide and files from teamandroid.com. I flashed the file with Odin and everything went perfectly at first. Let me give you the link for the guide and some side notes before telling about the problem:
teamandroid <dot> com/2013/02/08/update-galaxy-s2-i9100-xwlsd-android-412-jelly-bean-firmware/ (sorry for not being able to post the full link, but this was the guide, and it has the links for the files in it).
Notes:
My Phone: Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100 (the basic European model)
Current Android version: 4.1.2
Current Kernel version:
3.0.31-Siyah-s2-v6.0b4+

Current Baseband:

Now like I said earlier, everything went like dream. No bricks etc. and stuff really seemed to work. But after messing around with my phone, restoring all contacts from SIM-card, downloading mozilla etc. I found out that Gallery wasn't working.
It opens, crashes and then tells me that "There is not enough space." and that I should remove stuff.
Now after that I went to My Files to do some cleaning and I deleted few photos and pictures, although I had more than 5 Gb of free space. After I selected the photos and chose to delete, a pop up just said that (x) Files deleted. But nothing really happened, the files did stay there.
Then I plugged my phone to PC and started up Samsung Kies, and it found all the stuff from SD-Card. I tried deleting those but again, nothing really happened. Pressing the trash bin button on Kies just basically un-checked the selections of pictures. "Now that's odd" I thought.
After that I went to their related JB rooting guide and rooted my phone with Siyah Kernel. The rooting apparently worked (the Root Checker APP congratulates me with successfully rooting my phone) and the SuperSU and CWM apps are there. Nothing really did change, and I couldn't remove stuff from my SD card.
Now then I was ready to wipe my SD card clean from all the data, and booted up the phone in recovery mode. It booted up and there was the "format External memory" option or something like that, what I chose, and it asked me that "Do you want to wipe the \SDCard0". I chose yes, and it succeeded in less than a second. But on the event log it said that SDCard error.
EDIT: I also tried mounting my SD Card from the recovery mode but it didn't work!
I'm pretty clueless what to do. It seems like I have lost all my "write" privileges on my SD card and only have the "read" ones, or something like that. If you could point out whats going on I would REALLY appreciate it. I asked this same question on TeamAndroid's comments but I haven't yet been answered. If they answer and I find solution to the problem I'll post it up here. I'm not that expert with Android troubleshooting etc. that I'm not sure how to get some error logs etc. if they are necessary for you guys, so if you need them just give me link to instructions or something and I'll post 'em up. ^^
I'll follow this thread until I find the most reasonable solution.
Thanks alot in advance

"Error mounting /sdcard!"
I just want to clarify that I don't actually have SD Card but the problem is in my S2 internal storage (which is basically seen as unremovable SD card right?).
But thanks for replying!
gparted
I am answering now for partly bumping up my own thread, but also asking that could formatting the internal SD card with Gparted work? Does gparted have more "rights" than recovery wiping?
Thanks in advance
Falleze
This link may solve your problem... do give a try?
To format your internal storage choose the /emmc option in format menu not the /sdcard.
Once you have formatted card re-flash rom.

Thanks alot, I flashed the ICS back and tried formating the SD storage and it worked. Then I flashed Jelly Bean and I'm currently installing few apps and trying it out and so far it seems like it works!

I got it working by flashing the ICS back, then formatting the storage from settings menu and flashing JB. It seems to be working now :cyclops:

Great... Problem solved! :good:
I am a little familiar with rooting and flagging cm add I did it flawlessly on my nexus I just bought a nook tablet 8gb (wad told it was new hd and didn't know a thing about nooks and fell for it) but it is the older regular nook tablet. It was already rooted and had cm7 installed. I don't know what method was used bit it does power directly into cm7. I am used to jelly bean and I don't like going back to GB. I've researched fora few days on differences with this tablet but I've not found much. Does anyone have s link to a stable version of the acclaim cm10? What doi need to do too flash the new rom without raising my chances of brick. Do I just go to recovery and delete all data then install rom from sd? Do I have to flash a new kernel? Or can I flash a faster one(that's another reason for wantingcm10 mine freezes alot) if I can flash one does anyone have links to the rom and a comparable kernel? That you so much in advanced!
Wrong subforum methinks...
Try cm10.2, usual full wipe and install via CWM.
It's now supported via cmupdater for automatic updates

ok now i have a bigger problem... I didnt reformat the SD card but I removed it and deleted unneeded things there was a clockworkmod file but i didnt touch it and there was no .zip file but after I did that nothing would word EVERYTHING force closed so I held power botton and hit "reboot" well when I did that it rebooted into the nook operating system... How did this happen? is it unrooted? can I get back to CM7 or did i delete it on accident? ANYBODY PLEASE HELP i just bought this and its actually my daughters birthday gift and I dont have the money to buy anything else so I have to find a way to get this working before her bday
Sounds like you had cm7 on SD not internal...
Do a clean install to internal
First of all, sorry if my question is one of many repetitions, but i just want to make sure i'm doing all well
So, a week ago, i decided to stop flashing custom roms since i never got satisfied with any of them...mainly because i always lose some of the samsung goodies such as smart stay, Settings Menu Layout or even if the included stock samsung camera were missing the default 'long-press to multiple shots' ability. So i'll keep the stock S3 JB 4.1.2 rom, but i installed siyah kernel to have more control over the low-system settings.
At an initial point, i thought that my phone would be safe if i didn't play with several custom/aosp roms everyday..., but i've encountered many apps that say they could break or bootloop my device, so i don't want to live a 'don't touch anything' life because i think that would be really boring and i just want to get my S3 to my very own 'best' state.
Now, the last (well, the ONLY) time i tried to make a nandroid backup, i was using the philz_touch_5.06.1 recovery for GT-i9300, but...since then, i'm afraid of nandroid backups...
The problem is that the phone got into bootloop, but for me it was ridiculous, because that happened JUST AFTER the completion of the backup, i admit that i before i went into the custom nandroid backup settings and checked the option 'backup /preload'..., do u think that was the problem? i feel like every noob that ticks something without even knowing what is it about..., forgive me plz.
Now, my phone is working ok, but i would like to make a full backup (including kernel if possible) just without getting into bootloop, so, what would you recommend? swithing back to the original CWM? which options may i disable/enable before making the backup?
I would test it by myself, but i'm afraid of having to reinstall everything again...
Ahh, and just another question..., i got a 32gb microsd Class 10, so i would like to use 'ExtSd2InternalSd' solution to automatically install big games and other involved things to the extSd and leave the IntSd just to record FullHd and maybe, a litte bit of swap, would this procedure break the corresponding External/Internal Sd/storage in Philz? (or CWM : P). For example, i don't know if after this, i would try to format the internal sdcard and philz would just format the external one...
So, here are my system specs:
ROM: (Stock) I9300UBEMH2_I9300UVOEMH1_ARO (from Argentina)
Android version: 4.1.2
Kernel: Siyah Kernel 1.9.1
Recovery: philz_touch_5.06.1-i9300
Thanks in advance!

Thanks! It worked, i've made a full backup to external sd and then restored it, the phone (at least within the same rom) boots ok
Sorry for taking too long to reply but i've been a little busy editing some shots made with the phone. Thanks again, really!
