About a month ago I had issue with phone stuck on HFA. Several great people offer help to try to fix issue. Could never get problem to go away.. sent to Samsung since Knox was 0x0 and sent same phone back notes said they just flashed software.. I got it and ran good till 2 days ago.. my text wouldn't send. Everything else worked fine.. voice and data and apps.. so did the prl and profile update like sprint asked me to .. then text worked but no data... decided to do factory reset.. then issue was couldn't sign in to google(data not provisioned ).. after talking to sprint and Google they said not sure how to fix it.. only solution that worked was roll back to NAB everything working.. anyone else experience anything like this? Phone out of warranty like 3 days wondering if I should try to get a replacement or is a NC5 software issue

I would ask how's it going but here we are again. Lol I remember that, and have to say NC5 has not had that many issues. So, it ran good for about a month, then would not send a text ? Did Sprint say anything about working on a cell tower ? Nothing was changed, added, or deleted prior to it not working ? Try going to settings/connections/more networks/mobile networks/network mode/ and make sure it is on LTE/CDMA not automatic. Also when you update your PRL you have to completely power down, and then reboot the device for the PRL update to take effect I know it says update successful but that don't mean it has been applied to the device. If you go back to NC5 from NAB again your have update your PRL example : I updated to 4.4.4 today to check and see if Nh7 has a flash counter, which it does, so I went back to 4.4.2 NC5, after about 3 flashes I finally got NC5 back to official status, and than tried to download an app from Google Play it said no connection retry so I updated my PRL and rebooted the device, and my 4G LTE started working again. Where were you when it quit working ? Where you on the road out town ? If you leave town you should update your PRL it is supposed to do it automatically, but doesn't always happen.
Well I was at work and no issues got home and I got a text when I tried to reply it would not send.. I could only receive . So my 1st thought was towers since I had issues with tower close to my house several times.. after asking sprint said network was good my gf. Gs3 had no issues either .. so then tried prl and profile updates that would make my text work but my data would drop.. after a restart text would fail but data worked.. after talking to sprint and google.. ( they blamed it on rooted since they can see what apps u buy) titanium... but after going back to NAB all issues gone.. I am currently back on NC5 did a full un root version and will see. Guessing it's a NC5 issue or hardware

Ok, sounds like software, here is what I would do. Go to micmars here is the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2712205 and get his NC5. Now back up all your data i.e. pics, music, etc. to a ext sd card or PC desktop. Go ahead to do a factory reset. Next with odin on your PC flash a fresh copy of NC5. Now this is the IMPORTANT PART check your download mode screen should look like this :
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

Both lines at official status, sometimes you end up custom and official, so if not boot into your stock recovery, and use the device keys and do a factory reset again. Then odin flash a fresh copy of NC5 again. I know it seems like a lot of B.S. but I call it taking out the trash, you need to get back to stock square one. Boot it up see if the issues are gone, if so odin flash a recovery here is the link for Philz CWM 6.12.9 hltespr its bulletproof https://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/hltespr/ then root your device here is the link for SupSu v 1.94 http://download.chainfire.eu/396/SuperSU/ Now if everything is working with no issues, make a backup so you can always restore back to a working OS. Let me know how it goes ?
Will rather stay on NAB or NC5 for little bit more.. warranty runs out in a week if new or old issues happen will root and break Knox to get custom rom.. only reason staying on stock was my warranty.. I was just curious to see if anyone had encounter issues like me.. also upgrading to note 4 in few weeks

Cool, been thinking about an LG G3 myself. Definitely not as many features as Note 4, but more of a pure android OS. The main features of the G3 is no KNOX, little to no bloatware, will run under water, and a removable battery.
Yea wish Samsung would make the bloatware optional.. and Knox also LG3 does look sweet also

Hi everyone!
Well, I live in SouthAmerica (Argentina), and I bought an unlocked AT&T Atrix 4G a couple of months ago.
When I was on the stock Gingerbread Firmware, the GPS worked Fine. But when I unlocked the phone, and started playing with ROMs, the gps stopped working.
Currently I have CM7 Weekly #4, but i previously had: Wet Dream V1.3, CM7 Ba2TF, CM7 Weekly #3, and the issue was present on all of that roms.
I tryed with the proper gps.conf configuration for my country, and a lot more, and none of them worked or improved anything. I also tryed with the following apps: Faster Fix, GPS FIx, GPS Status, and again, none of them worked.
So, I was wondering (If there isn't any other solution): Can I go back to the Official AT&T Gingerbread Firmware (.SBF file), or I will brick my phone?
If so, anyone knows where can I find that SBF? Because all the links I saw were on Megaupload, Filesonic, Fileserve, or similar, and all of them are down, or restricting the download.
Help will be highly appreciated!

flash a stock rom SBF file using RSD Lite should be fine. But don't go back to Froyo, any Gingerbread stock roms should be ok.
Well, i installed the SBF, and now the GPS works perfectly...
Why It doesnt work in custom Roms?

Hi,
Could you please try Neutrino V2. 1p rom?
There is a gps tweak in add-on.
First, flash the rom and test the GPS.
Then if it work, flash the add-on.
But for me it's another problem, it's really strange...
Do you full wipe (with fastboot) before flash?
Let me know by PM, I will not follow this thread carefully.
We will found a solution ;-)
Regards
-JFK-
I have the same problem and tried everything like the posted said above.
Running Cyanogen 7.1 on AT&T (USA)
Wish I could be more helpful, but I can at least confirm that the GPS works fine for me running cm7 weekly #6 with faux123's 1.3 kernel (on an AT&T Atrix). In flight mode (i.e., no data and thus no A-GPS or other location assistance) I can get a lock in less than 10 seconds with a good view of the sky.
I do not know if you tried reflashing your radio as discussed in the atrix-dev-team faq:
code.google.com/p/atrix-dev-team/wiki/FAQ
You say you have tried various firmwares but didn't mention what kernels you were using. If you are using the stock kernels, the faux123 or Clemsyn kernels might be worth a shot . . . obviously you need to flash the right kernel (i.e., if you are using a cm7 firmware, use the custom kernels specifically built for cm7).
If you already tried all this, well, sorry . . . give -JFK-'s suggestion a try.

I tried the Neutrino ROM GPS fix, it worked amazingly. My phone was taking forever to lock, so I flashed the United_States.zip file from the GPS fix, and it solved my problem. Used GPSFix app from the Market/Play Store to finalize it.
I'm running Ba2TF Beta 3 (CM7.1).
Again, this file is only for the United States Atrixes.
had the same problem with the phone since first day i started using custom roms,
but i managed to solve it a few days ago..... what i did was
go here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1252011
and download the 3.x Google Specific CWM Flashable build there
or just click this direct link http://derekgordon.com/gps-files/agps.patch.google.build.cwm.v3.1.zip
flash it with CWM,
then using root explorer, go to your phone system\etc\
and open gps.conf with text editor,
with in the first few lines, u will see this
NTP_SERVER=ntp.derekgordon.com

there is only one NTP server,
so go to http://www.pool.ntp.org/en/
and under active servers, select your sub-continent and u will some ntp server addresses, add that to your gps.conf.
than go into your country specific link and add the ntp server addresses u found there into the gps.conf file as well.
if you follow those steps correctly, your NTP server list for gps.conf should look like this for Argentina
NTP_SERVER=ntp.derekgordon.com
NTP_SERVER=0.ar.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=1.ar.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=2.ar.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=3.ar.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=0.south-america.pool.ntp.org

now go stand somewhere with open sky as sometimes buildings block the gps signal so it can't get a proper lock,
cross your fingers and activate your gps and hope it works....
and don't forget to leave the gps open a few mins for the first time you activate the gps after the above steps
as i remember reading somewhere in the AGPS original post that it kinda help the gps locks faster.....
if u are geeky and wanna know how many sats ur GPS is locking on,
download this neat GPS tool https://play.google.com/store/apps/...wsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5lY2xpcHNpbS5ncHNzdGF0dXMyIl0
and see for yourself and while you are at it, u might wanna calibrate your compass for faster and more accurate GPS lock,
which can b done from (menu button)\tools\compass calibration
might as well do the 'calibrate pitch and roll' too,
but don't touch the 'manage A-GPS state' unless u know what u are doing as i have no idea what it does...
if you really wanna know how AGPS works, just go read it's original post here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1252011
cause i dunno how it works, i just know that my gps works after flashing and tweaking it
I have also been reading that switching radios can help the gps signal lock. Might be worth your time to look into it as well.
I had this issue just the other day and i just had a setting unchecked were it wasnt useing the interal gps for the lock not sure how that happend but it fixed my problem

Thanks.
I looked at this. I've since switched to Neutrino but same problem.
In my settings it provides the option to use internal GPS (as the only option) but even when selected the GPS source states ""use external bluetooth gps..."
Could this be the issue, that for some reason it's not detecting GPS hardware?

I haven't unlocked the bootloader, so I have no cwm. But I'm trying to hard reset my transformer back to factory settings (still has .15, want hc). When I do the volume down + power, I get prompted like normal to press up/down, but when I do - I see the green droid with the exclamation point.
I haven't messed with /system/ or anything else, I applied the .15 OTA update a few days ago and haven't had time to mess with it. All I've done is rooted using viperMOD, and I have since unrooted it, and soft reset it twice.
What do?
Hard reset won't put it back on HC. The only way to get back to HC is to use the downgrade method in developement section. Be warned though, once you do, your OTA updates probably won't work anymore. No need to go that far back. Just go to FW that worked well for you.

I am pretty sure that thread in the Dev sections says that people who have tried to revert to HC have bricked..
Disclaimer
While this process appears to work on everyone's device, you have to assume all risks due to unforeseen circumstances and need to understand there is a risk of bricking your tablet during the update.
Although someone else was successful in downgrading from ICS to Honeycomb, there has been a report of a TFP bootlooping. Everyone else has been successful in downgrading from ICS 9.4.2.13 to ICS 9.4.2.11.
UPDATE: 2 reports so far of tablets bootlooping after downgrading to Honeycomb.

Can't remember exactly which one but all were pretty stable. I'd say go for the one right before ICS update. But you will be losing out on optimization and features going back that far to HC.

no but Gamestop only has a 30 day exchange period anyways. there is no cash refund on open box. once you opened box and used prime you only can exchange it for another one within 30days. I'd say still keep trying to find out what's causing the battery loss. its only two people that have reported, including yourself, on battery loss after .15 update. plus there is no reset to put back HC. reset to factory settings still leaves the latest firmware on your device. whether its a hard reset or a factory one. not worth risk using downgrade method to try to go to HC. best bet is to try another version of ICS. like .14 or just wait till next OTA update.
Trying to diagnose a problem with my Brother's phone. He got his Amaze about 8 months back, no issues whatsoever on the Stock ROM other than a backlighting issue on the bottom buttons that HTC is aware of.
Since installing ARHD Gingerbread, he gets random, and frequent phone shut downs when trying to wake it from lock/sleep statuts. The phone just shuts off and restarts by itself.
We were hoping that migrating to ARHD ICS this week would solve that issue, but it has not. It still shuts down randomly at wake.
Something on your phone is probably causing this, do a full wipe and reinstall.
I was actually experiencing this last night. Happened about 7 times while I was at work. After I cleared cache and dalvik-cache I fixed permissions. So far it hasn't happened again but waiting to see if it does. But maybe our issues maybe totally unrelated. I didn't pull a logcat to see if there was anything that maybe causing it. Next time it does I will.
Running ICS .3 Stock debloated, no scripts but with a theme. But its been on there since I flashed the newest ICS RUU so it can't be that.

I'll try this. For whatever reason the RUU on the ARHD page continually fails to update via ADB/Fastboot, I'll try again to see if it works now that ARHD ICS went on it successfully. Will try the Cache Clear and Permission Fix - definitely didn't do that after flashing this.
Weird update. In his bootloader it always said unlocked. I did the S-Off method advertised by JopountBear (sp), but now it seems it is locked? Odd.

You didn't point this out in the beginning, if the bootloader is locked it won't allow flashing, re-unlock to flash whatever radio you're trying to flash.
Out of curiosity, why would a phone re-lock itself without me telling it to do so?

On another note I use 4EXT Recovery. It has been the only recovery, for me, that actually wipes caches correctly and runs the Fix Permissions Correctly. You know that it does because it leaves a log on your sdcard. While any of the CWM that I've used doesn't.
And since you're s-off then don't worry about re-unlocking.

Just out of curiosity...do you have fast boot checked on or off in Settings> Power ? Turn the check off and see if issue still happens. Just something to try.

Hi guys, im new to Samsung Note i717 but not Android. I have a ATT i717 and im having issues with the signals on the phone. My sim and network is good in my Galaxy Nexus but not in the Note. Now im in Canada and it is a ATT phone. I did get it unlocked today. Whatever SIM i put in the signal on the top right cycles from no service to 3-4 grey bars, during bars if I try to make a call i get the message "Mobile network not available". It loops from the ghost buster sign to signals.
I opened Kies and it shows me I have PDA:LA1/PHONE/LA2/CSC:LA1(ATT). I did restore using ATT stock from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1506330 so far there is no difference.
At present im downloading another stock ATT rom from h**p://stockroms.net/file/GalaxyNote/SGH-i717/attstockrom.zip
to test if that works. size diff between both roms.
It acts the same without a SIM aswell ... weird
Thanks for the help.

Are you trying to connect to Wind?
If so, you will news to visit the thread about T-Mobile compatible modems. I think the current favorite is a blaze modem:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24422331
I am not. Trying to connect to bell or rogers.
Also I cant get past Settings>Wireless and Networks>Mobile Networks>Network Operators at this point Default setup is greyed out.
I'm stuck with this device, don't know what could be wrong with it.
Check about phone>baseband. It sounds like you're missing the modem.
baseband version i717mugla2.
also im trying to follow http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1506212 and push the att radio to the phone. got it rooted and all but i keep getting "failed to copy 'amss.bin' to '/tmp/amss.bin': Read-only file system" error.
i did adb remount but still same thing
If I were you I would flash the latest at&t modem ULCF5. To flash it you do it from CWM recovery, then reboot, and bam! Good to go.
Download the modem here in the first post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=27863509
The adb instructions given in the thread you last referred to were before CWM was ported to our note. The easiest and surest way is CWM.
The Canada carriers use the same frequencies as at&t,except Wind, which is T-Mobile.
Modems are silicon chips and you have to flash (rewrite the software in the chip). Copying or pushing files won't do the job of rewriting the chip's software. Using CWM is a safe way to do it. Using Odin software on your PC is another safe way.
I tried using ODIN to push the ATT radio file from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1506212 it failed halfway, i wanted to try adb as I have struggled in the past with it.
Didnt want to try CWM but I guess that might be the best way at present.
If you had trouble with Odin, adb will be a real tough way to go.
In general, modding your phone is at present best accomplished with CWM.

I have a bell note myself and I recently flashed one of the CM9 Roms.. I think after I flashed the UCL5 rom my sim card would no longer be detected at all. Tried 4 sim cards no luck. Restored from Odin Using the BELL Pit, CSC, etc... no luck. Back to the factory for repair for me. Good luck!

i have the circle, followed by grey bars, circle, its back and forth, i cant make calls when i get the bars, even no sim give me the grey bars.... ?!?!:crying:
ok since it was just rangercaptain who tried to help me out.
This is what I have tried so far.
I installed T-Mobs modem, Bell modem and att modem, but my note will not register to any network.
The funny thing is that it says ATT on the top front screen but I717M in the back behind the battery, does all of your ATT notes say the same or I717 only.
I did open the whole phone up to see if i can fix the antenna, saw some tags for i717 in there.
Could someone be able to grab hold of UCLA1 radio, i have tried UCLA3 but that didnt do the trick.
And if someone else knows the solution to my problem which i havent thought of yet please let me know, I cant return this phone, im stuck with it.
Thanks for reading.

Hi I have a GT-i9300 that worked well over a month, after a hard reset I can do anything but when I'm on a call I have no audio either in or out.
I have checked with skype and viber and the hardware is fine. Also I have tried several firmwares (official and custom) and several modems and I still have the same issue.
I cannot apply my warranty since the phone was purchased overseas, please help me on how to fix this.
I am posting this on android development since it is more likely that some developer know how to solve this, also the thread on Q&A is dead. I apology if this is now the correct forum to post it.
Please help me to get my Galaxy back :crying:

1. Relax, it's a common issue nothing to worry about and it can be easily resolved.
2. I understand that you are panicking but development is not a right place for it. In future you may post in q&a section.
3. Are you rooted and have you played with modems lately?

Thanks for the reply
Right now I'm on the original FW again, but yes, I was rooted and tried at least 8 different modems.
Any suggestion?
Moved to Q/A, questions don't go in the development section.
I had the same symptons after updating stock firmware. Both speaker and earpiece worked fine but not in a cell phone call. You should try and let the connection to the other side last long enough and see if your cellphone modem resets like in my youtube video.

If it is like in the video than you're out of luck because with me it was an hardware error. Samsung service center could not repair that, the send it to samsung HQ. After I got it back it stated that a hardware part was replaced under warranty.
Any suggestions apart from above ones?

I saw your pm now.
If you are familiar with rooting... Root again.
And perform full wipe, install latest check rom v4. It is LG8 firmware and comes with modem.
Then share this screenshot:

That should fix your issue. Let us know if you have tried this out and it did not fix the issue.

I just fixed it by installing the latest version of an official software from UK. It started failing like before, but after 5 minutes or so it fixed by itself. Don't know why exactly, and I'd really like an explanation so I can know how this happened exactly, but has been working for over 15 hours with no issues (reboots included).
Of course I don't want to wipe again or try another software at the moment, because I don't want everything to happen again, but if someone can really tell why this happens and why it started working alone this will help a lot to know how to reverse it in case it happens again.
Thanks everyone here

Did you obtain fw trough kies? I got the same problem
I got it from samfirmware.com. however today it stopped working again for no reason... could a simple hard reset damage the hardware??? I think it's silly but I can't come up with another explanation.
Tomorrow I will try the firmware told 3 posts above and post the results. In the meantime I'm trying to find an answer of why it stopped working again...
This is frustrating, I'm located in Costa Rica and Samsung states I can only apply by warranty in Germany... so I guess I'm by myself and all of you guys trying to resolve this

Still the same issue, here is the screenshot after the full wipe and software installation.
Please advise
Hi guys. Has anyone come with a solution to this problem? I'm facing the same issue as the OP.
I was running on stock firmware, then flashed the leaked JB firmware and rooted it again. Then flashed the stock firmware again. Once I did that, I started having this problem.
Any sort of help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Similar problem. I can solve it by full wipe but when I restore application data with MyBackup Pro or in CWR nandroid backup, I lost sound in call.
It begun after flashing leaked JB ROM, then flashing original ROM via ODIN and now on CM10.
Advice?
Maybe modem problem. Try to flash different modems. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1740061

I'm having the EXACT same issue. Everything else works fine. It came out of the blue. Last thing I was running was Omega 13.1 with Siyah Kernel 1.5.3. I've had the phone for about 3 or 4 months, then about 4 days ago it started happening out of the blue. I tried flashing and wiping anything and everything you can imagine, including stock firmware. Sometimes it would work for a few calls, then back to square one. Yesterday I went to a stock firmware, then restored my Omega nandroid and it worked fine until I rebooted. I have no idea what's causing this issue and it's really pissing me off. It seems common with no fix.
I live in the US and this phone is originally from Vodafone UK, bought through Amazon sim-unlocked (real SIM unlocked, not via any app). Samsung UK is asking me for the ROM info I'm on, which I can get by flashing a stock ROM (CSC, Baseband, etc), but they're also asking me for a UK address, which is troubling.
Here's every ICS modem ever for the i9300 (not by me): https://www.wuala.com/UpInTheAir/SGS3/Modems/I9300/ICS/?key=n0KVwtIMZPE8

Have the same problem. Flashed the leaked JB and now then went back to stock ICS (Meteor Ireland) from sammobile.com. Still no luck. I'm flashing every modem I can find but still no audio at all. I had some issues with the JB leak that calls sometimes (more than not) didnt work but then a reset would usually solve it.
Anyone have any ideas what else can be done?
I've read it's hardware failure and that Samsung will fix it. However if you live in a region where the phone isn't sold and you imported it through Amazon, Negri, etc, you need to contact the original seller, because Samsung won't touch it if you send it to them directly.
Have you tried wiping cache and fixing permissions? I've had lots of sound issues on JB, all went away after flashing omega 25, no problems now either on omega 27
Also try flashing the modem again, clear cache/fix perms,

Full wipe will always be an answer. However, restoring application can bring the problem again. If you want to backup the contacts just use the export to usb storage in the settings instead of using backup apps in restoring. Also try to perform fix permission.

Issue occurs even before installing the applications. Seems to be something related to the modem firmware, however each modem behaves differently but with the same issue
