How do I reset my phone to stock settings/rom. I want it back to the way it came out of the factory for a return
Master reset the phone and use odin to flash a stock firmware file to it.

What wasn't stock about it?
well when i tried doing software update through the phone or kies, it said that the rom wasn't stock and therefore couldn't be updated.
If you are not currently stock you need to use Odin to flash back to a fully stock image first.

If you got the full stock one it should have been.
If it wasn't try getting it from Samfirmware.com

Yes, if you had searched you would have found one of the last 20+ threads about this
1) Download old gingerbread bootloaders and a rom from this thread
2) follow instructions on flashing rom/bootloaders from that thread
3) you are back on gingerbread, congratulations.

Isn't their a cwm app in ur app drawer? This should take u to cwm. Then u can restore.

haha I bet that confused ya
I did search but couldn't find anything. Anyway I'm back to normal.. all I had to do was reflash the Siyah kernel which comes with CWM recovery tools...
anyone know if there's any type of ICS out there with Hebrew support? The stock doesn't have it.. maybe CM9?

I think cm9 does, based on what I think is Hebrew.
But I don't know if it's properly rtl or not...
just out of curious, so u were on ics, flashed ur nandroid backup and flashed siyah?
What's a nandroid?
If you use the search feature on the Xda app it doesn't return very good results for some reason,I've noticed this before. Performing the search on the website whilst on a pc would be better! Lol

i guess he firstly flashed siyah to get the CWM app. i do not know if siyah works on ICS.
he might have flashed the appropriate CF-ROOT kernel from Chainfire's thread.

If you have flashed the ICS bootloaders you need to flash the GB bootloaders back (Or it wont boot or be unstable), nandroid doesn't touch the bootloaders.

What insecure and secure kernels did you flash? And where did you get them from?
My guess is you flashed kernels either not meant for your device, or you flashed a Gingerbread kernel on an ICS firmware, or vice versa.
In any case, you need to include more info. What build are you on? What did you flash?
I got the kernel from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1101671
GT-I9100P_BVKI2_original
that is the one i downloaded.
can i just re flash the stock rom will that solve the problem?

Well, that is a Gingerbread kernel. However, not knowing what your actual firmware version is, I can't say why it failed. Maybe you were on ICS? Or if you were on Gingerbread, the firmware version was too disparate from the kernel version.

Yeah, it should. Until you try to root again. If you flash that firmware, do NOT try to root using the same insecure kernel you did before.
Once i have flashed it back to stock is there a solid way to root ics particularly that rom?

great thanks flashing stock rom worked!!!!!
Official JB update for SGII wil be 03.03.2013, and I wanted to ask a question.I have a rooted phone with Siyah v5.0.1 kernel, with orginal ROM. Can I update my phone to official 4.1.2 with a rooted phone with Siyah kernel ? Or I must unroot my phone and get my stock kernel.
I now it may sound like a noob question but I'm new here so better I ask someone.
Thanks.
the easiest way is to simply flash the Rom with odin,
worst case scenario is that you have to wipe data/Factory reset after flashing,
so make a nandroid and a backup with titanium backup or something similar.
just so you have a cliff to lean back on.
unless you flash with mobile odin you will lose root though,
but then youll only have to flash a new rooted kernel and you should be good to go!

I donwload the official ROM, then I flash it with odin and then if I want to root my phone again I must flash a rooted rom.
And the official update contains the stock kernel ? Because I got alredy a backup done with CWM and when I flash the official ROM and it will replace Syiah kernel with CWM and if somenting goes wrong then I can't restore it .

I would not unroot the phone. Just use Odin for flashing the new firmware and after that you can root it again. For me it's much saver than using buggy Kies...

But my question is when I flash the official rom 4.1.2 it will unroot my phone and CWM recovery mode will be deleted because of new kernel, and if there somenting goes wrong how should I backup it when there will be no CWM recovery mode .

hi there so I have a small problem I have a galaxy s6 edge here international version unlocked that won't take any other rom apart from the rom in which I have it running... A Little Background ... the phone itself had a message saying it failed its last update so I downloaded kies and the other new recovery programme non of them would help repair the problem so I downloaded the stock rom and tried to flash via odin and all I get is a fail. it cannot find correct directories . so I then used odin to flash twrp which worked a treat and I downloaded a few roms . one of which worked all others did not ( all got stuck in a boot loop ) so I used a little trick I have used before and changed from ext4 to fat and then back again now this should have replaced all directories again ... however every rom apart from nemesis rom gets stuck in boot loop and odin still fails to flash stock rom ? ..

Stock roms are tricky to find esp. with that device-binary error. Just make sure you pick the correct/related country, device model and android version..
Some roms like Nemesis include their own boot, modem etc. that's why it works, but some don't. I once flashed a stock rom but afterwards I had no imei/modem/signal so the only thing I did was flash all custom roms that I had (NNE, Nemesis, etc) just to replace everything that the stock have put in. After that, downloaded stock firmwares again around 3-5x until I got the correct one (and yes, stock firmwares took hours for me to download).
If you flash MM stock, put in twrp and flash a working custom MM rom, then flash stock through odin. Same goes with Nougat, like flash Nemesis first through twrp then flash stock through odin..
-- this is what I do and I think there are better alternatives to these.
