Hello!
I have a bug in the app for a long time, and I haven't managed to figure out a solution.. Sorry for bringing it up again here, but I looked all over previous threads, and there was no answer in them, not one that worked for me anyway..
The app won't let me watch more than one video in a row without Wi-Fi. Playlists have become useless, and I can't really use the app without restarting it repeatedly. After one video it says that there was a problem connecting to the server, tap to retry, and usually tapping the screen doesn't help. The sign of the cellphone's internet changes constantly between H+ H and 3g when it tries to load videos (and only then. The internet works fine otherwise).
With Wi-Fi the app works fine.
Thanks, Itai
Mostly the problem is with your Data connection. Youtube app needs constant and good internet connection, the constant change of H, H+ and 3G puts very high impact on connection strength.
Just a symptom

The constant change of the sign is a symptom of the problem, not the problem itself. In other apps (and on the first-played video on youtube each time) the phone dose'nt have any problem staying in the H+ sign.
The cause of constant sign change indicates poor signal from your service provider, when the app requests for a good bandwidth. Youtube app may not work on weak connections. If you ever tried, you should also see 'Connection Timed Out' error in Play Store. Happened the same with my previous device (the connection prob with google apps).
Only solution, change your service provider or switch to other networks, such as 4g, wifi etc.
Not Locking

That's the thing, all other apps work (play store too), and the problem is not related to the signal quality. Even the search of youtube itself works fine. It seems like the app can't "lock" (I guess that's the word) on the server.
So, what do you mean by locking? There is no relation between H+, H, 3g and Youtube server. As I said apps are in no way related to controlling network connection, it depends on service providers.
And according to your sayings, all you can do is Clear:
the app data, google services framework, downloads, google play services, Uninstall Youtube app and reinstall it from the Play Store. I highly recommend updating 'Google Play Services' via Play Store. That's all for now.
Now you may ask why the sign changing happens only in Youtube app- Well, I think Youtube requests for full bandwidth and your data connection can't handle it, too weak maybe. You can also try by changing your location
Still no solution..
Anyone?

Hi all,
been using the google maps app that comes with the HD2 a lot, but suddenly it won't load using mobile internet anymore.
It works fine over wifi, but it seems it doesn't want to use my dataplan anymore.
It doesn't matter whether i have 2g, 3g or hdspa connection, it just hangs on 'loading' or 'searching'.
I checked the connection with opera and it works fine, can load any webpage pretty fast.
What can i do to fix it? is there a way to reinstall it? I don't have a cab because it came installed on my HD2.
edit: after a soft reset it won't even load over wifi anymore!
Edit2: hmm, after another soft reset it will load over wifi again but still nothing over mobile connection
get the newest version from here mate, just install and it will delete you're previous version

Same problem here in Rotterdam. Was wondering what could be the problem, but since other people seem to have the same problem, it more than likely is the connection to T-Mobile's network again.....
As is the case with you, WiFi connection allows to start up Google Maps properly, however as soon as mobile network is used, Maps no longer works because of lack of connection to the network....

new version has the same problem
i read online that it may have to do with proxy settings but have not been able to resolve the issue
also, the guy at the t-mobile store was less than usefull (big supprise there)
I just spoke with the t-mobile helpdesk and they are already aware of the problem.
They told me it is a problem with the google server's connectivity and that some ppl can't even synchronise their gmail or other google services (haven't had that problem myself)
They're looking in to it so hopefully it won't take too long
Someone at T-Mobile has earned his/her salary this month: it's working again....
Hi,
I'm just wondering why my GPS doesn't work without internet connection. It just can't connect to any sattelite. I'm currently using PFGPS v2.0 FIX for my country (Poland) and I don't see any changes. What is wrong?
It requires Internet to load the maps
Can I load maps now to use GPS without internet connection if I'm not in wifi area?

so you have wifi that means you are connected to the internet!!!
for GPS it can only find your position but can't display your location on a map without an internet connection so GPS needs one.
I will wait for answer from another person. Thank you.
There is an application on the market(related to sports/tracking) that allows you to download a portion of a map and then you can use your GPS offline(no data connection). When I get home I will look for it(I have it on my tablet).
Correct me if I am wrong but Brajano95 means that is it possible to load the maps on his wifi connection and keep then saved when he is out and about to allow the gps to connect. You used to be able to do this in the google labs section on google maps but they've since taken it away unless you look for an older version. Otherwise have a look for third party map app on the android market which allows downloading of map data to the phone

Thats exactly what I'm talking about! Now I'm downloading Sygic Aura (about 550 mb) and will test it later.
Because GPS and Maps on CM7 suck balls at best. Maps is using your I.P. for the GPS coordinates when on WIFI, without it Maps is counting on a reliable signal from your GPS; and that's just not going to happen with CM7.
Sent from my GT-S5830 using xda premium
You can use iGo My Way
I know a fair bit about the GPS module in the Ace so i will comment. I think someone has already told you that it is possible to operate the Ace with preloaded maps. Likewise, i thought that the OP's choice of Sygic Navigation is a fair one.
Back to the original question in the title. GPS can operate with or without internet be it wifi or data e.g. 3G/2G. The difference is how fast you can obtain a GPS lock. Without using any positioning help from data connectivity, you are looking at a lock time of possibly 15 minutes thereabout.
There are 4 modes of operation possible for the GPS module in the Ace which is actually Qualcomm's GpsONE.
1.) Standalone (Slowest using positioning information in cache and smart polling)
2.) MS-Based (Sends data to nearby cell tower(s) and makes use of GPS transceivers in the cell tower(s)
3.) MS-Assisted (Similar to MS-Based BUT data connectivity is broken when GPS transceiver is online. I don't quite like that!)
4.) MS-Based/Hybrid (You need to have superb data connectivity probably cell tower signal strength should be in the -50dBm region. Not very useful in real life usage)
i have had my own thread for fixing GPS, so read up if you want to know more here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1320626
first you need the maps to use it offline, and the correct gps.conf for your location http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1284506, then you can use it without internet
Mapdroyd is a great app that allows you to download maps for offline use. Unfortunately there isn't offline navigation though..
Hi,
I've solved my problem, just install Sygic! Thanks for helping guys
btw u dont need too install anything.. go to google labs inside maps and add map cache.. now long press a location on map.. click the arrow on the address and u ll see an option to cache that area.. the steps may not be accurate as i tried it a long time back and dont have my phone with me but its possible and what u have to do will be more or less the same...
Hello everyone! I've encountered a substantial problem with my galaxy s2 and I would like your help, if possible.
This problem is related to the mobile network. Each time I try to connect to a website I get some kind of error, from 'Data connectivity problem' to 'Server failed to communicate' and even the traditional 'Web page not available'.
Note: There are a couple of websites that seem to work, such as: m.orange, m.facebook.com and m.yahoo.com.
At this point I would like to mention that Wi-Fi works as intended, with no problems whatsoever.
As for the mobile network, I believe I have the right settings resembled in the APN settings. Data connection is turned on, and I have tried both GSM and 3G. I have also tried different internet browsers, such as Opera, with the same result: only m.orange, m.facebook and m.yahoo seem to work.
It is quite frustrating at times not to have access to a mobile network. I would like to add that this problem remains to any apps that need a network connection in order to run. Therefore, I cannot run anything (Android Market, Google Maps, Youtube app, etc etc).
Thank you for your time. Please advise!
First of all, double check APN settings, see if your provider has an app in the market, or sometimes you can send an SMS and they'll sms you settings.
Secondly, try another modem, you may have a weak modem, before doing this download speedtest and check your connection speed and post that up. To see hows well it's connecting.
Thirdly, check your operators website to make sure they are not having network difficulties in your area.
Is their a setting that turns standard web pages off because that's what it looks like .
jje
Visit the webpage of your service provider. Usually on their support page you can have their data/mms settings sent to you by sms which then will be "auto-installed" on your phone. Good luck!
right, this one is a weird one, and i just cant figure it out!
i have 2 android devices at home; a Nexus One and a HTC One S. both exhibit the same issue
in short, when I'm connected to wifi at home, i'm unable to use Google Play or send pictures in whatsapp. gPlay says no network or network timeout when opening the Play app, and whatsapp will just sit there trying to send a photo (the little grey clock icon).
when i'm on any other wifi network; home, friends or parents house, or use the vodafone (UK) network they both work.
to make it weirder, i can push install apps via the Play Store via a PC browser when i'm on wifi, i just cant use the Play app on the phone.
so, it seems like something specific to my ISP/home network right?
so far, this is what i've done to try and fix the issue...and the outcome (works = apps function as expected. fails = i continue to experience issues):
- enable Internet Passthrough via USB cable on the phone (uses laptop network connection). this works. Eliminates router issues?
- configure infrastructure wifi with windows7 Internet Connection Sharing and connect phone to this new wifi network. this fails.
- tried another AP from work (Cisco 1130AG - we use these at work where i am able to sucessfully connect). This fails. Eliminates potential wifi chipset compatibility issues?
- full wipe of HOS phone. this fails.
- used google to find many reports of similar issues, but seem to be the opposite of me; they sugest wifi as a solution, with broken APN settings, or to clear cache of the 'google play store' app on the device experiencing issues.
- opened firewall ports on router (TCP/UDP 5228 according to the google play FAQ), also stuck phone in DMZ. this fails
- firmware and full factory reset on router. fails.
it's been going on for so long that i cant remember when it started (a number of months). i've changed ROMs on my HOS phone and that has no effect either. i dont recall having issues relating to anything specific; one day it just started happening and not worked since.
have i missed anything, and can anyone think of any more ideas? is this something i'm just going to have to live with? does google have any human contact support method for this?
Dear friends, I am facing this weird problem since a couple of days. I mostly use my home's broadband connection's wifi to connect my Desire HD. Recently, a message popped up in my notification bar saying "Sign in to your wifi network" (See attachment). After that I am unable to use most of the google services including Play Store and Google Maps. If I click this notification (Sign in to wifi) I am directed to a website in my browser "http://173.194.35.99/generate_204" which is blocked by my ISP. In Play Store: No Connection. Retry. I am using cm10.1 and also have tried reflashing different roms but the problem persists. Also, the wifi icon remains white in color after connection and does not turn blue. I can use any other internet related app e.g. facebook, firefox etc without problem. I have also checked my hosts file but there is nothing wrong there (Screenshot attached). Help is appreciated.
And yes I can use play store via mobile data but its too expensive here.
i face same thing sometimes
solution is: use a VPN when want to use Google Play
