Unable to save to Note 3 after restoring backup rooted rom - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys
On my SM-N900W8 Note 3, I've had it running a rooted stock rom.
Yesterday I decided to try out Gummy Rom....did a backup in TWRP.....I also backed up all my apps with Titanium just to be safe.. wiped data....installed Gummy Rom....it just wasn't for me.
Wiped data again......restored my stock rooted rom that I've been using this whole time........phone booted up without a problem...SUCCESS! At least I thought success....started to notice some errors with some of the apps I have...
Wasn't able to get any of my snapchats....swiftkey was giving me errors.....then I tired to save a picture and saw that it had failed....strange
I Have several gigs available on my internal and external SD card....
Opening up Titanium....I can see that all folders, internal AND external say "This folder is not writable."
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks in advance

Update: I've installed SDFix, and I can now save to my external SD card.....however I still can't save to my internal memory.

[Q] get backed up sd contents onto wiped sd card

Hi,
I backed my sd card contents to my pc, my rooted incredible was a mess it was running CM7. I wiped the card flashed PB31IMG, a stock+ ROM then flashed MIUI now how do I get my backup onto the phone? So my apps + all the information and upgrades are like they were. Ie. all the money and levels I have got to in a app such as drag racing, my Handcent settings messages etc.
I am not sure how to copy the just the names of all the folders so you can see them if that would be more helpful to you please let me know how. If I could get my backed up removeable disk on here without the files I dont need I would be so grateful. Thanks
If you made a backup before you flashed you will have to restore to the backup and backup the apps using titanium backup. If not, sorry, all is lost...

Transfer app data to extsdcard

Hey all
I got my S3 a couple of weeks back.. Used it amazing phone... Rooted it... Flashed slim bean... Flashed official Indian JB 4.1.1
And onto it right now
The thread heading!! With all this flashing the internal memory wipes out. And backing it up every time would be a hassle.
I have come from the galaxy ace where the app data would be stored in the ext sd card so there's no chance of loosing all the data... Like WhatsApp images preferences of apps... I actually lost my entire titanium backup
Had to restore manually
Any way I can transfer app data to extsdcard?
I have root and busybox.

Nope, can't move data from internal memory to extSD on S3 i9300 or i9305. It's a major flaw on Samsung's part imo.
There's an app developed by slig, it's called DirectoryBind that will allow you to move data across to your extSD. Works like a charm for 90% of games e.g. Gameloft where extra data can be over 500MB. I'm using DirectoryBind and it's works well, never had an issue, in fact only found one game out of thirty so far that I couldn't bind.
Note: if you use DirectoryBind you'll need to bind each app/game separately, you can't bind a folder like android/obb or android/data thinking it will automatically move the new installs across, this must be done per install.
If you just wanna move apk's across, then Link2SD will also work, but it won't transfer gama data.
Thanks for the reply
I'll try the directorybind
So now how do you manage flashing without losing data?
It's a big bummer :banghead:

I haven't flashed yet, only rooted. I am considering flashing Pandoriam...
So about not losing data... I use MyBackup Pro and would most likely use it when I flash a new rom on my i9305...
If you move data across to your extSD with DirectoryBind, you can backup your config. in DirectoryBind, flash without losing the extSD data and then re-install your APKs and restore your config. backup in DirectoryBind... then you're back where you left off when you start any of the APKs from your launcher, they'll pull the data from the DirectoryBind (extSD) straight away.
Not sure if this answers your question? Another alternative would be to backup the data you'd like to keep with Titanium Backup.

Make sure you set your backup location in Titanium Backup to the external SD (like "/mnt/extSdCard/Titaniumbackup/").
The same for CWM backup data : do it on external SD. If you create ,ZIP compressed images, you have to transfer this manually to ext SD.
Once in a while (before a ROM-flash) I launch FTP-Server on my SG3 and transfer all data to my PC through WIFI.
Wireless FTP is no hassle, no wires, and the fastest way to transfer lots of data from phone to PC. (I get 8500kB/s transfer rate).
Also, buy a 64 GB SD !
+1 pat 357, that's exactly how I backup my stuff .
Regarding the possibility of transferring the data to the micro sd card this is what I did after having tried apps2sd (doesn't work) & directory bind (imo was quiet unstable and tiresome).
Basically, you're going to make your phone believe that your sdcard is actually your internal & vice versa. Of course, using this tweak will really only make sense if you own either a 32 or higher micro sd card. I run it on the latest jelly bean 4.1.1 (rooted, obviously) samsung official stock rom and works like a charm coupled to a class 10 64GB sd card. I use the initial 16GB (now consiered as external sd for the phone) for music or any kind of media file I feel like having around.
What I did was a fresh install : wipe dalvik cache/factory reset...then flash Rom; Root&install CWM; flash kernel (I used SiyahKernel S3-v1.7 available here) through CWM; flash tweak (ExtSD2internalSD) through CWM. Ticks like a clock ever since then.
Hope this helped, if it did, enjoy and of course, thanks a million to mattiadg for this amazing tweak.

Problem with sd card

I'm using Omega v17 rom. I flashed it yesterday and I couldn't move apps to sd card or install apps from Google play store. I need help ASAP. Does anyone know what to do?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
With this information nobody can help you. You should post what kind of error you got, coping but not finished, have a error and don't want to start coping, etc.
Well, I tried reflashing the rom today and wiping everything. First off I had problems with Titanium Backup. It couldn't restore some bigger apps or games(Subway Surfers, Rom Toolbox Pro). Then I manually restored all of my apps. Then I tried to move apps from internal storage to sd card using app2sd. I clicked on move to sd card option, and it just gave me the error: ''unable to move app''. And I have noticed that I cant delete some files form my sd card (like pictures, or files in the lost.dir folder).

[Q] Something is using up all of my Storage Space (even after Wipe/Reset) - Help

Hi Everyone,
I have an issue with my VZW GS4. All of my storage seems to be utilized by "phantom" files. I was updating my playstore apps yesterday and I got a memory almost full error. I only have 1 GB pictures, .5 GB music, and .3 GB applications used. I know the system is using almost half of the my memory off the bat, but looking at the files above, it did not make sense that I would only have 300 MB left out of 9GB or so available to me.
My device was rooted, but was still on the VRUAMDK Kernel flashed after rooting. I had Titanium backup installed but did not actually do any backups. I had CWM manager installed and had one recovery that took up a small amount of memory, so I wasn't sure what would be taking up all my memory.
I decided I wanted to do a wipe on the phone after backing up my pics/music to see if i could wipe the memory and start clean. I wiped the device using the stock recovery app and the phone still only has 4.2GB free. I guess a wipe/factory reset does not clean EVERYTHING off the SD card. When I go into the Device Memory section in settings, it appears I have half of memory free, but it still lists 4.2GB available. I did a file usage analysis and it does not listed Could something I had done in CWM Rom Manager created some hidden files that wouldn't get wiped? Does the GS4 auto software update download to a hidden folder before being installed? The phone recently download the new ME7 firmware which I did not install yet.
Using an android file browser i've looked around the SD card system folders but I would have no idea what would be taking up so much room. Has anyone else had an issue like this? Can I wipe the non-system partition of the SD card somehow? I am just not familiar with this and I wouldn't want to mess up the OS somehow.

Looks like a CWM recovery was sitting in root/data/media. I found this solution in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2274218

CWM Backup file location?

Hi,
I've done a Nandroid backup on my s3 prior to trying to update the Android version. Looking at the memory used it's not on the ext SD card and is clearly on the internal memory but isn't visible on the phone or from my pc. I need to clean up space and move / delete.
Any help appreciated
Sorted, ended up re-installing the stock 4.3 rom and clearing everything off.
If anyone else in the UK has the same issue on the S3, the files are still out there for free but took a bit of tracking down.
