its slow i want to update my phone can some one plz suggest me whats the best latest version for it and how can i get it on my phone

I just installed CWM and wondered what would happen if I updated to ICS 4.0.3 and root it? Will I brick ?

I have HTC Desire S and i have updated it to 4.0. now its making phone more problem so i want to downgrade it to 2.3.6 or 2.3.5.
