[Q] Nexus 5 Special Dual Booting. Details Below. - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, so soon my cousin will be getting himself a nexus 5 and he asked me for help. I'm looking for a way to dual boot CM11/PA/Stock with Kali PwnPhone Community Edition. Now I know that multiROM exists but since that it isn't the process of a regular ROM flashing, I thought it might not work (might work too, that's why I am here for help). So I wanted to know of that will work and if it won't is there any other option, maybe with Ubuntu touch dual boot installer? So that's it hope I explained the situation well and thanks for helpers.

According to this: https://rstforums.com/forum/86853-build-your-own-kali-linux-pwnphone-pwnpad.rst Multirom supports this mod. Don't have any experience with it myself, but have multi booted quite a few phones including CM, FF OS, and Ubuntu Touch on the N5.

Just A Clarification.

So what I have to do, is:
1. Unlock bootloader
2. Flash TWRP
3. Flash CM11 ROM (zip file)
4. Download MultiRom Manager and install MultiRom
And then, what?
The installation process of the PwnPhone FW is different that the guide says. Instruction in attached PDF.
So how do I combine this process with multirom? Maybe have a cm11 primary ROM and stock secondary ROM (which I also don't know how to do) and do the process on the secondary? Thanks for helpers.

There does not seem to be any plans for official support for deb, OFFICIAL SUPPORT, I have looked around a bit and there are some unofficial ports but there is more not working with deb than with flo. I expect to see something, just does not look like it will be soon.

Android 5 ROM for Huawei MediaPad T1 10

Hi,
I would like to test Android 5/Lollipop on my Huawei MediaPad T1 10 but haven't found so much info on ROMs to this tablet.
Any experiences on well working Lollipop ROMs?
Anyone?
I have searched too but without luck. I would be very greatful if there was a solution to install any CM based custom rom or stock ASOP.
I second this!
Anyone, who tried it or likes to do it and post his results?
I am also.. Anyone know how to root this tablet?

If you have the same tablet as me, Mediapad T1 10 (T1-A21W), you can easily root it with King Root.
I am also looking for information about this tablet (recovery, roms, etc) and don´t find anything. Anyone has found some development of this tablet?
I am also searching for an Lolipop Rom for this Tablet. Is it possible to install that at this Tablet?
I have been searching far and wide but it seems there is no one interested in developing anything for this pad, very much including Huawei itself. This will be my last Huawei device ever.

Where did you get the TWRP??? I was trying to compile one and then try to do development for this device. It would be very useful if you send me a link for the TWRP recovery. Then i could try to develop for this tablet.

I've been trying to bring development to this tablet quite months ago but i keep struggling with the kernel source which gives me a lot of errors when trying to compile. That is the main problem that is not letting me to build for example a LineageOS 14.1 (7.1.1 ROM).
For example i think i have a solid device tree and vendor blobs to work with our tablet but the only problem is the kernel source.
About the recovery, I've ported a couple ones that boot and work. One of them is a TWRP 2.X recovery that can flash, make backups, restore and all that stuffs but the touchscreen responses weird when trying to interact with it.
The other recovery is a Phil Touch recovery, which is based on the deprecated CWM recovery. This one works without any problem but is deprecated and it won't probably be capable to flash 5.X and newer android versions, so i don't have much interest on it.
Also i tried to compile a TWRP recovery from source but again the problem is the kernel source.
Anyone who owns this tablet or want to help with this project that has a minimal experience with android development would be great if can cooperate with me to fix the issues and finally have a solid base to bring development for our device, because this device has a great potential for development and it would be sad to not be capable enjoy it.
For anyone interested:
I opened a thread for the Philz Touch custom recovery for our tablet that i ported some time ago: https://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-mediapad/development/recovery-unofficial-philz-touch-6-59-0-t3584383
Edit: Opened another thread for general things about our device (ROMs, discussion, ...): https://forum.xda-developers.com/hu.../everything-huawei-mediapad-t1-10-t1-t3608754

First thing, its not stock rom, its custom rom.
Second, the developers are not being paid, and thus whatever thay are doing, just accept it and ask for help, not post post like this to command them to list things that are obviously common sense.
1. CM13 Nightly, this 2 words give enough description, what more do you need. In this time, if you don't know what cm13 is then don't buy an android. Nightly means that there are still bugs, both minor and major, and sometimes it means that there are some things broken too. The devs also list whats working or whats not. They can't list every single thing.
2. You are flashing custom rom, thus you must have custom recovery like twrp, in order to install it you must first unlock your bootloader. If you have custom recovery, then it doesn't matter whether your bootloader is unlocked or not.
3. Did you really just asked if custom recovery is needed, are you a fool or what. Let me make this clear, if you want to flash a rom, how are you supports to so without a custom recovery. Stock recovery can't flash rom, neither it can make backup, restore backup and lots of things. The most basic thing to do even before rooting is to flash a custom recovery. Without custom recovery you can't even properly root. Well you can root with some apps, but custom recovery makes it easier, just download supersu and flash it with recovery.
4. Whats there to know. If you have custom recovery, then first create a backup. Almost every thread that i have ever read on xda, it is stated every where to always make a backup before doing anything, even rooting. Then, wipe data cache dalvik system, and then flash the zip file. After that if you wish flash the gapps.
5. What do you need screenshot for. Haven't you ever saw CM13 or ressurection remix. Just google it. they are not obliged to post it here for your convenience.
6. They do provide bugs, whats working or what not. And its not like they know a bug and haven't told other about it. They, in most cases don't know how many bugs there are, the other users tell them the bugs and they fix it.
7. Why would they tell you which gapps package to use. Do they work for google. Anyway, just google gapps, your rom version, ie cm12 or cm13, you mob architecture, arm64 or arm32 or whatever, and just download it. There is no geek stuff behind it that you can't do it yourself.
And finally, you are not paying them do anything, they are doing this because they like doing this. They are not even getting paid by this. So you ordering them to these things which you can do yourself after some googling and using your brain a bit, is just unjust. Just accept what they are doing, thank them, enjoy the rom, and report the bugs, etc etc, and have fun.

If you are using a 32bit windows, then do you ask others which application to install, 32bit or 64bit. Man you are a joke, it's not information, its common sense. information is which partition is used for what purpose. How to restore imei. How to unlock lte band, not which gapps to flash. And there is no stock recovery out ther which flash custom roms. The only roms you can flash with stock recovery are ota.

So if you are not a noob then why are u asking for such things that are common sense. Nobody ask these things now. I just passed class 12 and i know most of the procedure for tweaking an android. I can even write partition table. You just have to search. Not post like this and expect the dev to post them too. Do a little bit more work to achieve something.

Question Successfully rooted Metro Pcs variant w/ Magisk and stock rom

Ive been rooting and tinkering with various different android phones for years now . Motorola has always been my favourite when it comes to rooting . Now my question is now what? I would love to finally pitch in on development starting with this device seeing as there is very little on this one as far as custom roms and what not. This device reminds me of the G7 Power with the A/B format. I was looking in on possibly bringing Ubuntu Touch to this device and as far as i can tell I just would need to make a halium kernal for it . Can someone maybe help me or tell me how incan possibly help on makimg that happen? Please bare with me . This is my very first time posting on this website . Im very savy when it comes to the android, ios and computers in general , Im running the stock rom and have done very little besides install some root apps. I would love to help out with any kind of development so please someone let me know . Ill be regularly checking my notifications and messages . Cheers!
I'm not a programmer, but I'd love to have LineageOS on my device. I haven't had the opportunity to play with Ubuntu Touch, but I assume that the F-droid store alone surpasses the app development for the Ubuntu Touch. Have fun!
Im suprised more people arent all over this device like when the G7 came out ....this device is awesome and the battery life alone is enough reason to want to buy it ...Guanma FTW!!

What i found appealing about Ubuntu Touch is i recently read that you can now run android apps on it and i totally agree Lineage would be awesome and an obvious first step to take with this device now that we know it can be rooted...also TWRP development is a must
So far I'm really happy with it. The only thing is with how big it is, people with smaller/weaker hands are going to have a tough time. Good to know about Ubuntu Touch supporting android apps!
I too just got a G Play (2021), after spending the past 8 yrs. with my beloved HTC Ones (m7,m9). Ironically, it was Motorola that I left for HTC. I've been somewhat impressed with this phone's performance in stock bloat (I mean stock TRIM). I came in here today not expecting to see much, if anything, on this phone; but I've found enough info to get me started.
TY XDA, for all your hard work.

I have a new Moto G Stylus Metro. Anything for this yet?

Question Where to start building a working twrp and/or roms for moto g power 2021 (borneo)?

Hello all, where would I start in making a working twrp for this phone?
Does anyone know if Motorola has released the device tree/source code for this phone so we can make the roms? LineageOS would be ideal.
Well, I have the same phone. Couldn't find ROMs for it.

look in this forum here, there are a couple floating around for it, I've made one, that I was able to fully flash to mine and has touch (Android 10. there's another that is 11 on here too by another poster), but as there are multiple display options out there it seems for how they were made, that is the sticking point, as not all will behave properly when booted into a recovery like mode it seems. I have tried installing it over bootloader and it will have touch then, but when flashed to recovery the touch never activates properly. So it all likely comes to that, as we'll need combine them in, properly applying proper checks for each display type and having it use the proper driver files, since can't load them all at once or it breaks things.

First place to start: twrpdtgen
Read the "readme"
Also check out:
[DEV]How to compile TWRP touch recovery
Device tree made from A10. Should still be relevant for A11.
Kernel for A10. Unfortunately I don't think Moto released the one for A11 yet. You can ask on their GitHub and devs might consider your request.
TWRP for A11. Touch is working.
Edit : here's a link for the device tree (in text) from A11
maybe this will work

UPDATE: I have a telegram account where we are discussing how to make a custom lineage OS. I'm at the gathering stage and in the process of porting a device tree. For starters I want to start with lineage OS 18 because its the same android version the stock OS is, to be on the safe side, and that I've never done ROMS before.
Moto G Power 2021
I now have a device tree with the help of AOSPdtgen from the stock ROM from mirrors.lolinet: https://github.com/thebestofall007/android_device_motorola_borneo
I have started the build and got the first error:
https://imgur.com/a/XZoqy8B
I've looked this error up and they say it's because of the ram, but the error recurs at the same point. I have 16gb of swap, too.

The error turned out to be entries in the proprietary-files.text file that needed to be deleted.
@thebestofall007 If you'll suceed. please take in consideration to build \e\ (aka deGoogled Lineage) too.
Here's a couple of interesting links that may help:
https://doc.e.foundation/support-topics/build-e
https://community.e.foundation/t/howto-building-e-roms-a-beginners-guide/26371
Last but not least, we've also suggested them (check here) to setup a "build (V)Machine" by modding this colab notebook to made it device agnostic:
https://github.com/viam1-dev/colab_lineage_build
Hope can "inspire" you.
Thanks in advance.
Does anyone have a complete list of sources so far? I have some experience in the past building ROMs for Android 5 and I wouldn't mind trying. I have a lot of computer resources to dedicate to building as well.
Device tree: https://github.com/thebestofall007/android_device_motorola_borneo-old
Does anyone know if there is a kernel source? I looked on the Moto github and couldn't find one. Is everyone using prebuilt for the time being? Also, do we need a vendor tree?
Thanks
