I was wondering if anyone has installed Viper4Android on this device. I had it on my previous phone and it worked flawlessly; all my music sounded amazing.
But ever since we achieved root, I couldn't successfully install it. It keeps telling me Busybox is broken or not installed, and therefore won't let me install the audio drivers.
Can anyone try installing it, if they can? My favorite band just released a new album and I'd love to hear it with a good equalizer.

I have just installed it successfully and it works perfectly on MT2-L05 4.4.2
I have busybox ( stericson ) installed on my phone. Maybe you can delete whatever version of busybox that you have installed and try to install stericson Busybox from playstore?

I've tried many Busybox versions, including stericson and it still won't work. Maybe the OS has something to do with it, if it works on KitKat and not Jelly Bean?
I failed to as well. I even tried the zip install.

I tried everything today: manual Viper installation, different Busybox versions, etc., still doesn't work.
Maybe the KitKat update will make it possible. That is, if we ever get a KitKat update... I may not use a Huawei phone again if we don't get updates. There's already been so many issues (for me at least) with Emotion being so extensively modified from regular Android. And we don't have any developers at all. I'll probably go Nexus next time.

I am using it now flawlessly. The driver cannot be installed automatically but you can manage to use the flashable zip file to install it manually.
First uninstall the app and backup your build.prop.
Download the flashable zip file here.

Reboot to your TWRP and flash the zip file and reboot. The zip file would install the apk file in /system/priv-app which is actually not recognized by the Huawei system. So please manually move the apk file to /system/app or /data/app , or just install it and remove whatever file left in /system/priv-app
And then start the app you should be able to install the driver. Actually the driver has been installed after you flashed the zip file.
Since it will modify your build.prop, so please make a backup. And in my case it broke my build.prop so I had to modify the file manually. There is an example in the link above. Please append the followings at the end of your build.prop.

OK. Reboot and you are all set.
Again, if you encounter soft brick and the system ui fails to appear, high chances that V4a broke or deleted your build.prop. Make sure you make a back up of that file first.

Yes and yes. I am using the US version MT2L03 and it can be used to boost my earbud volume.

I managed to install it...but I dont know which settings will let me do this.
I want to increase the volume of the phone when using it as a phone held up to my ear without affecting battery drain. There are too many options. The FAQ links to a site to explain the settings but that site is down. Help?
Update: never mind I uninstalled viper4android (reverted to backup actually). It barely increased the volume but it would crash my phone when connecting to Bluetooth despite it being disabled for bluetooth.
Works great but shuts down when the screen sleeps. No option in the apps list to keep it running.

There was the option to mark it as a protected app for me but that's because i installed it to /data/app by copying it there. Did you install it to /system/app maybe?
I found it too buggy to keep though so I dont use it now.

Aw, I forgot to install TWRP and try Viper over the weekend. I don't want to risk messing up my phone during the week, leaving me phone-less!

In the Viper settings, you can set "Show notification", so the system won't kill the app when the screen is off. If that's not enough, what I did on my previous phone was use this app to protect Viper. Install that, go to "Tasks", tap on Viper, and select "Exclude" on the bottom left.
Root the device (search how to root the device Huwei Mate 2)
Change to permissive mode with “SELinux Mode Changer” apk from xda or search.
Enable developer options (tapping the Settings->Builld Number several times will enable the developer options, by default it is hidden from the user) and uncheck Use Nuplayer option.
Install the viper4android (get the latest untouched viper4android from original viper4android thread).
optional making viper4andriod as system app(refer how to make system app, if you want to make viper4andorid as system app)
set following values on the “build.prop” using the (Build Prop Editor, search for apk)
##Viper4android
lpa.decode=false
tunnel.decode=false
lpa.use-stagefright=false
lpa.releaselock=false
Run following commands with “Terminal Emulator” apk (search playstore or internet)
>>su
>>/system/xbin/supolicy --live "allow mediaserver mediaserver_tmpfs:file { read write execute };"
Open the viper4android and install the drivers.
Reboot the device
After reboot Launch the viper4android and check the driver status then you will see driver status normal.
feel free to play with compatible mode option or other options to suit your needs.

I am trying to download and install the framwork from the Xposed Installer.
After pressing install/update, I get the following:
Copying Xposed-Disable-Recovery.zip...
Mounting /system writable...
Segmentation fault
Could not mount /system writable
Trying to continue anyway...
Segmentation fault
Failed to create a backup of /system/bin/app_process
--Any help on to how to fix this?

I had such error on my SGY. I updated su binary, then I installed busybox 1.21.1 from Stericson's busybox installer (get it on Play Store).
Then problem was solved.
I'm trying to install the Framework, when I go into the app and then press install/update, I get a window that says:
Copying Xposed-Disabler-Recovery.zip...
Could not extract Xposed-Disabler-Recovery.zip
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, restarted the phone and still getting the same issue. never had this problem before, can anyone help?

If you are trying to install Xposed on a newer Samsung device, Knox and SELInux will fight you. I'm guessing you are running what is in your in your sig, so probably not Knox. Install this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mrbimc.selinux Grant SU, change to Permissive, reboot (may not be necessary, but doesn't hurt), and try again.

What version of Xposed are you trying to install? Do you have a custom recovery? If so, Xposed 2.5+ will give you an option to install normal via system or you can pick the option to install via recovery. I'd go that route. It's at the top of the framework install part of Xposed - there is a drop down box to choose install methods.
Edit: Looked at the picture you posted and you definitely have the newer version.

Its 2.5.1. I didnt have this issue before on other roms. Im on ditto 4.4.2 rom and its the first time it hasnt worked for me. Could it be the rom?

It very well could be something in it that isn't being friendly to the normal framework install method, but lemme know if it works the other installation way. If it does, then not a big deal either way.

I tried the other way and I still had the issue. So I did a clean installation of the rom again and it works now.
I guess something went wring when installing the rom which may have caused the issue.

What you want to do also after installing the rom freshly. Install the xposed v 2.5 rather than 2.5.1 because 2.5 works perfectly and there's no real need in updating it

I have the same error, but for me i have a kindle fire HD 7inch
I can't use the play store because when I try to install it it just crashes and so does my you tube that i got without root via apk

I am having the same issue with the could not extract the zip file. I have tried what was suggested on this thread as well as reinstalled the rom 3 times. I have used this rom before with no problems. The only two other things I can think of trying are full wipe and format of the sd card or full unroot and revert to stock then reroot and try the rom again. Any thoughts?

You're using 2.5 (not 2.5.1) and still having issues? What phone, rom, etc? Might try rolling back to 2.4.1.
I have a Galaxy Note 3 and running wicked rom. I was having the problem just on 2.5.1 but on 2.5 everything would load but none of the modules were working after rebooting. Everything checked out (installed and unzipped) with no errors on 2.5.

Weird...What modules were you trying to use? When you go into the Framework part, does it show the app_process and XposedBridge.jar as green / active?
It did for the 2.5 version even tho nothing was working. I reverted back to 2.4.1 and things seem to be working at the moment. I was running Wanam and the kbs network module. I'm going to try and play around tonight with some other modules and see if the problem persists.

But every time it says install busy box. Am on rooted 4.3 Please help.

There was a flashable ZIP which I used before upgrading to 5.1, but when I went back to 4.3 I looked at that thread and the OP updated it to Lollipop only. I don't know about any other flashable ZIP's.

You can install the apk and go through the driver install process and if you choose, you can always make it a system app using titanium backup

I tried installing through the APK many times (even the one in the Play Store), but it would give an error message whenever I tried to install the driver saying something about Busybox, even though I have it installed.

Nope. Installing Viper gives the same error message, for me and everyone else that tried it, even way before the 5.1 update was a thing. We've been trying it since most of us got the phone, one year ago.

Installed Viper, choose Power Saving Mode, Installed Busybox (free) from playstore, restarted it, same driver error, Converted it into system app, same sh*t, no solution
Am sure no one here is using Viper Audio Mate2 4.3 and if they are then they aren't sharing solution.
Also, I've searched the official Viper Audio thread too for a solid answer but no luck.
Player Pro gets stopped randomly, thought it was Xposed, uninstalled that too. Xposed is anyway not much of help to me.

I'm no longer on 4.3 and I forget if I got V4A to work on 4.3. I am sure no one is holding back in helping you. That's not how we roll on XDA (unless you are a total lazy a$$ and require hand holding, which is not you). Sorry I am unable to offer more.
The only solution was to flash a ZIP, but like I said, that ZIP has been updated to Lollipop only. Before the ZIP was updated, I flashed it on my phone on 4.3 and it worked. Viper installed, and I was happy.
There is no way to install it on 4.3 anymore, unless there is another flashable ZIP somewhere out there.
Now that we have Xposed working, what modules have you installed that work? Or ones that don't work? Anyone try Notify Clean?

NotifyClean seems to be working well.
I'm using appopsxposed, directapkinstall module, play store changelog, rootcloak, swype row, youtube adaway, and youtube background playback.
Gravity Box [LP] also working... although I only am using some tweaks to clean up the status bar...
Anyone else try G4 Tweaksbox? I installed the module, but when starting the app, it said the Xposed framework was not found (or something like that...). anyone else have any luck with it?
Im using the G4 tweakbox, amplify, and acdisplay. All work well

Both call recording and the shutter sound mute seem to be working fine.
I can't update my xposed, how did you guys go about doing it? Also, kind of off topic, when I installed V4A it asked me to install busybox (which I did, the one that it redirects you to) and it still says that I don't have the proper busybox installed which makes it so it is unable to install the driver.

Not sure what you mean by "update" xposed... there is no update - you just install the latest framework (and app) as discussed in a couple of other threads. What am I missing? Also, my not be relevant as I have not tried to install V4A, but the Busybox installer that worked best for most folks was the one from JRummy (app store)--you might try uninstalling busybox and then reinstall with that app... Hope this helps.

The reason why I am trying to do this is so that I can sign back into snapchat. I have tried flashing the uninstall zip via flashfire, but it doesn't seem to be working (I have tried flashing it multiple times with no luck).

I think at this point, the only way to "uninstall" xposed is to flash the stock tot via LGUP.

Hi there. Firstly thanks for all the work, great ROM.
I’ve just flashed the rom from stock 20160419 on my P9000.
Did a fullwipe as per the instructions. First app I Installed was ebay and it failed, tried it several times. I then installed the rest of my apps & updated SuperSU from Google Play, setup the rest of my phone, uninstalled ebay, restarted phone, reinstalled ebay and it works fine.
The only thing apart from the screen lock image that can’t be changed, is that I want to uninstall the system Nova, reinstall Nova premium version that I have and its settings. But no easy way of doing this. Have installed a second launcher, but cannot find any nova related folders in system/app/ I have located in system/priv-app/ com.teslacoilsw.launcher-1 folder, but unable to delete/uninstall anything with mixplorer.
Any ideas welcome. Thanks in advance.

Yes my ebay is working, it worked in the end.
Doesn’t allow me to install nova Premium from APK file, goes through the motions and then gives me an X and says app not installed, have tried with mixplorer and ES file explorer.
As to lockscreen, im not familiar with gravitybox, don’t know if I have to download it from google play, if so, which one? or if it’s already included with Eragon v 1.5 cannot find it.

Nova: I installed nova premium via the play store, so I don't know way installing the apk manually is not working.
Gravity Box: 1: you have to install the xposed framework via the Eragon updater
2 Then install Gravity Box via Xposed Installer
I recommend you watching a video about Xposed on YouTube .

Hi. Thanks for your help, have downloaded xposed framework, installed installer and gravity box, changed screenlock picture. But know ebay app doest work, now it fails.
Also does someone know how to uninstall the system version of Nova launcher? I want to install a prime version I have manually from APK file.
I have tried installing prime version over the top with mixplorer and ES file explorer but after a while I get an X and says app not installed.

No problem The eBay thing is a known issue and the developer is working on it.

install another launcher first and select it.
Then go to root system/priv-app and delete the nova folder+ reboot

Works for me fine. To get it to work initially all I had to do was disable ad-aware ... reboot login into ebay then reactive the ad-aware and all was fine.

The ebay trick doesn’t work for me, will wait to see if there are any further developments, I can live without it for the moment
yes, stock is a ROM. based on a few past handsets, the customized / debloated stock ROM is the way to go. i'm by no means an expert, but not finding a thread for it, decided to make one. if you found your way here, you're welcome to discuss issues you're facing, whether it be magisk, xposed, debloat, whatnot. needless to say i'm just a punter, not the dev.

this thread is not a true DEV-thread - but one to discuss issues in using stock ROM. there's a download link to one version of it. haven't tried to install it though, but there's guides on the net if you want/need to do so.
however, the link's ROM is from motorola, it's not debloated, and rooting is a separate matter - guides are again foundable for that.
thanks for this, but we already have a thread with stock rom, how to install it and root is there...so the firmware from your link is the stock firmware, not rooted or something. I think this thread is useless

i believe you can't flash with TWRP - but using ADB and a handful of different command lines.
this thread may give you pointers.
i don't think anyone has made a flashable zip (yet).

ok - i bit the bullet and upgraded magisk to 15.2 and the latest magisk manager.
root is ok, but various applications say that busybox is not installed - and stericsson's doesn't install. however, it seems that apps requiring busybox are still working. @showlyshah is your busybox ok?

No.. since magisk module for busy box wont install.. i did install it via busybox installer.

And i got working busy box. If you find problems with magisk installer app.. install with twrp installer. Btw. It didn't trip safety net..

i'm now on 15.3 magisk & 5.5.5 magisk manager. for me, it installs seemingly OK using the magisk-busybox installer script, both from the magisk manager & from recovery. stericsson busybox installer fails to install.
but the end result is the same, terminal reports "busybox: not found" and TWRP manager that it's not installed.
but there's a busybox folder at /sbin/.core/busybox - and apps needing it seem to work.

If apps cant find it.. it is not symlinked.. busybox is a swis army knife.. that means.. it is capable of doing most of the fuctions of various modules by its own.. normally.. apps need to use these modules ( binaries ) for doing things.. for example.. if there is a zip application.. it uses the "zip " binary to work out.. dns.. etc are some another modules..
In case of busy box.. most of these binaries are coded into that single busybox binary.. and its much less heavy on system.. and thats why some developers use it for different functions rather than using several individual binaries to accomplish the same..
The benifit is.. you only need to load a single binary .. but if individual binaries are called. Then all of these binaries will have to load and unload.
So... In a busybox installer.. there is a script that points to busy box binary.. from its normal individual binary. Its called symlink. I mean.. if you properly symlink a busybox .. and then if an app calles for a binary.. eg.. zip binary.. the system will point that call to busybox binary and not zip binary.
Also busy box binary is more reliable as it gets upadtes more frequently than normal binaries.. its bit more stable and low on hardware resources usage.
So.. what i am saying is.. even if busybox binary is installed on system.. but if it is not properly symlinked.. the apps cant find it out..
That is the problem.. thats why i said.. find the latest twrp flashable busybox.. busybox installer cant install busybox in magisk installed system. Simply because magisk use its own binary folder and not normal xbin or bin folder.
In twrp.. the installer just install busybox into xbin and symlink it properly.. so its the only working way for f2fs error phones like moto g5 and others ( where magisk module wont work)

thanks for the busybox explanation, illuminating, even if i kinda knew - have seen/used it on various linux-based boxes before (mostly routers). but yes, i'm still a noob.

Oh.. hahah.. its not actually google.. its moto.. they choose f2fs ( that too with out full permissions for third party apps) when i dig into it.. i found that the stock kernel wont allow magisk to mount image.
So only ways are..
1) use a third party kernel with proper f2fs patches
2) patch stock kernel with f2fs patches
3) use a different mount partion for magisk. ( Thats what done with the f2fs fix magisk module)
I tried it. Unfortunately. It wont stick after reboot on my stock os.
Btw.. u said u play with routers.. can you tell me a way to access ( with root permissions) on huawei e5577 pocket modem.. mine was locked to some carrier, unlock will never work, so i mixmatched firmware files.. and now its working .. but i have a problem with wifi .. the modem wont connect two devices in 2.4 ghz band.. but it works perfectly on 5ghz band... So i like to dig into its firmware. And check more

well, moto f'd up on f2fs, but google made the fundamental user-hostile decision to write data onto a hard-to-access partition, not give the user the choice. there could be a per-app menu like for notifications: store data on extSD / intSD.
good rundown on the f2fs bug. but my phone seems to have accepted the @VR25 workaround. (still testing magic fbind). at least the module(s) survive boots. go figure.
routers - don't know enough to help you. much like android - each box has a different set of problems based on hardware / firmware combo. i only buy routers that are known to behave well with opensource firmware.
debloating - anyone? what can we remove from stock ROM?

EDIT: version 8 of the debloater does work. 8.2 doesn't.
