[Q] My Xperia X10i not Powering up! - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So here's the Thing last week on a night I put my Xperia X10i on charge while i was watching a video(MX Player APP) which was minimized..........when I woke Up In morning,
the Phone had green LED light on but phone was off.... after that I tried to power it up no response except phone is just vibrating and a green LED.......Tried to change Batteries but
Same result.
Here are following things I did :
*Led is working when charging or USB connected
*Removed SD Card & Sim Card to see if it was to do something with it but no its not the case.
*Had 2 Different Battries installed same results no power up.
*Tried to check if Flash Tool Detected My Xperia X10i and well it did Detected it But all I can do is Flash Roms & Kernels....Nothing helped me even when I flashed different
Kernels,Roms or Even when Flashing The Original Xperia X10i Generic ROM.
*Did Hard Rest and Soft Reset Options that was Pure faliure.....the Power+Volume Up and Power +Volume Down didn't fix nothing!
Was On FERA LAB RU latest GB ROM! it was great experience but damn my luck. Any Ideas? How to make it work?

What happens if you leave the battery out of the phone for 24hrs?
This allows any built in residual power to drain/clears chipset.
Then give it another go.
All else failing, use PC companion to reinstall original 2.3 fw and start again.

[Q] Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 crashed and won't start

I successfully flashed my X10 with 2.1 and had no issues. I believe last week I got the multitouch update from SE. No problems. Today however, I had a major problem. I was testing a program called Blacklist by calling my phone from another phone to see if it works. When I went to slide the slide over to send the call to voicemail, the phone buzzed for about two seconds and shut off. When I tried to turn the phone back on it buzzed like it should and that was it, nothing. I updated the phone with the PC Companion, the Update service, and it updated and reinstalled the software according to the program but still wouldn't turn on. I tried to reflash the phone using the X10 Flash tool from this site; it flashed successfully but still nothing. I even left the battery out of the phone while I was at work; still nothing happened. So with all this, any ideas???
Does anybody recognize this and have any suggestions?
I would contact the dev who created Blacklist.
I don't think it was Blacklist that caused it. Even when I reflashed the OS it still had the same problem. My friend mentioned about flashing the baseband. But I'm trying to see what this forum has to say.
If it was the OS, then SEUS or PC Companion "repair software" should work. It basically wipes your phone and does a fresh install, which would fix any errors you created.
Also, try this... Remove the battery and leave the back off the phone. Then plug the phone into the charger/wall with the battery out. Wait for a minute or longer, and then insert the battery while it is still plugged in. Wait a minute, and then try and turn the phone on. If it doesn't work, try altering the steps a bit like starting with the phone plugged in, or plugging it into usb port on your PC rather than the wall. I haven't had to do this myself, but I read somewhere that this works when the x10 dies.
I hope this helps. Let us know how it turns out.
I just tried this and still nothing. I am going to try to downgrade to 1.6 and see what happens.
I downgraded to 1.6 and still nothing.
Forgive me if these questions appear naive or insulting....
Sometimes (actually most times) it is something simple, so let's back up. Since it vibrates when pressing power on button, it would appear the phone's power circuit is functional. How much charge did you have left in the battery when this happened? What happens with the LED notification light when you plug it in to charge? Basically, are you sure the battery isn't dead or worse bad? A red/pink LED notification would be a sign the battery is charging/working.
**If it is not charging check to see if the USB cable or port damaged? I think my usb cable quit working after my first flash. I thought it was my phone until I read about usb cables suddenly not working after flashing... weird? Now I use an HTC cord.
use x10 flash unbricker it solved all my problems when my phone would work.
Hey i had this problem (but i dont have the MT update yet ) but it was my memory card stopping the X10i to not turn on :s try a new memory card XD
@agentJBM
I thought about the same thing last night, so I plugged the phone into the charger for the night. The battery feels warm like it's been charging. When I plug the charger in the green light comes on for a bit then turns off, which is normal. However, still the same issue.
@soldier33 Do you have a link???
@Si-The-Spike I thought about this before. I pulled the memory card and the sim card out and tried to see what would happen, nothing.
I at least know this much: the phone is able to be put into flash mode, and the phone is able to accept a charge. I just can't figure out why it can't boot.
I cant seem to find a working lnik anymore. So ill upload the one I have saved. Hoepfully it works.
Much appreciated
sorry it taking so long got very slow upload speed just 20kb. and the file size is 130mb
here you go zshare.net/download/87207469347a26f2/
Thanks. I'll try it out tonight.
Unfortunately it did not work. I'm completely lost on what happened.
Try completely uninstalling SEUS, PC Companion, and Flash Tool & firmware from your PC. Do a fresh install of SEUS and then try to update/repair software. I read it may take 4 or so attempts, especially if you are having battery trouble.
I've never done it but there is a way to open in safe mode as well by pressing menu button while turning phone on. Try searching that as well.

Totally bricked X10

Hi there.
Got my X10 bricked.
How that happened:
Yesterday put my phone on vibrate/silent mode, shile was at cinema. Battery was about 15%. Later on I ffound that phone is off, thought it happened because of low battery. When I got home I've putted it on charge. Red light flashed few times. After about 2 hours I looked at it and no light was there. Phone didn't turn on. Took battery from another X10 (fully charged) and nothing happened. Tried to connect it to PC to reflash it, but no green LED appeared and PC told me, that unrecognized device found. After few PC restards even this disappeared. Just silence. None of buttons pressing configurations helped.
Tried with no SIM and SD cards. No change.
I have latest ROM on it and xRecovery.
Any ideas of what I could do?
hey dude one thing for ya.. you can never brick your x10 its not those old phones it a computer based/linux phone.. If you go through the forums you can find the info of how to unbrick x10 .. try Pc companion or go to sony website and try SEUS( Sony Ericsson Update service) it'll fix your phone up.ill do my best to post a link for ya if i can find it soon
here u go dude. read through this link and you'll fix your phone..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=828398
Thanks. But thing is that phone doesn't go in flash mode. No green LED is on. On first try I got "unrecognized device" from XP, now it's just silent on phone connection.
i think its more in hardware related because as far as i know eh you cant brick your phone. and battery drainage is far related to bricking..so i guess its a hardware problem..maybe you sat on it or something..because bricking is moreon software related.
try this
*remove the battery
*plugin charger to your x10
*hold the power button while inserting your battery.
just give it a shot..
It was in my wifes bag while that happened, but she has her phone just beside mine, so not shure it was because of some pressing on it or whatever.
Tried what you told me - no result. Tried pressing/holding power bttn before, while and after battery insertion.
Again, there was red LED at first, when I've plugged in charger yesterday, but later on it disappeared. I've charged my battery on another phone. Now it nearly full.
Try all solutions before u send ur phone for repair. I had to send my in to ATT and they said it was probably a hardware issue. So i hate to say that but i had the same thing. Sorry to tell u that my friend.that red light is a killer.

got a similar problem.
my x10 will only vibrate and the led blinks green, but the phone won't start.
tries SEUS, pc companion, pc suite, flash tool. nothing helped.
any suggestions?
Well, mine won't even vibrate.
Voelker45, so you got replacement or they repaired your phone? Could you tell me wich part it was?
I bought my phone on ebay, so no way to send it back. And it was in August 2011, so anyway, I have to work that thing myself.

Install SEUS and run it. Select x10 and it will install drivers on your phone. Then plug in your phone and try to repair.
As I wrote before, x10 does not enters flash mode, so no way to reflash.
And looks like it's really hardware issue. Something with powering.
Ok, thanks everyone. Since I bought it on ebay and it would be unreal to send it back to seller and we don't have SE service centers here, I'll fight for my phone till the end)))
Maybe something from this thread will help http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=944322

Strange thing happened:
Connected x10 to charger without battery. No LED turned on. Left it for a few mins, pluged in battery. No result. Took usb plug out and ! phone turned on. As it was without SIM cars, I turn it off, took battery out, putted SIM in, battery in and... again, it's not turning on. Tried repeating that way - nothing. Must be some hardware connection problem near battery. Will disassemble phone tomorrow.

Me again)
Strange things keep happen.
Here is the story:
Finally, got some star shaped screws yesterday and took apart my phone (thnx to McKebapp).
Non of IC were with readable names) So later on, after few hours of serching I found Xperia X10 scheme files (!!!). So the most probable faulty part would be Qualcomm PM7540 - power distribution IC.
Anyway, it was to hard for me to understand all that stuff in scheme, so I gave up(.
Assembled my phone back again. And just to... em.... have it done, lets say, I took out battery, pluged X10 in charger, pluged battery in. But it doesn't turned on again. So I took USB plug out abd - tadaaa - screen lightened.
Waited till phone loaded, turned it off again, pluged SIM and SD cards in, turned it on again - and it did! It turned on!
So, night passed and it still works.
Btw, yesterday I've rebooted it few times and it still was ok.
I don't know what was the problem, it could be bad contact, but there is no wires between battery and power distributing IC.
Anyway, X10 is back again)

[Q] x10a dead? not going into flash mode anymore

Hello,
I have an AT&T x10a - which I upgraded to 2.1 using the non-GUI flashtool few months back - and then to the dual-touch update through SEUS. Everything was fine until about a week ago - when my phone started freezing randomly (and would have to remove / reinsert battery to get it to restart).
After a few times of this happenning, I downloaded the latest GUI flashtool (0.2.9) and reflashed the generic 2.1 ROM - no issues doing this - but phone froze again after a day of use. Battery Graph app showed sudden drain in battery charge right about the time when the phone would freeze. So decided to restore this back to AT&T 1.6 firmware -- found instructions in another thread on the forum to modify the build.prop file and change the SI number using root-explorer. Managed to change the SI number in that file successfully -- but since then my phone has stopped working.
Last couple of days - on pressing power button, phone would vibrate for a second - but not turn on - no display - no LEDs.. Couldn't connect in flash-mode (even in Flashtool) or regular USB mode. Now the phone does not even vibrate on pressing the power button - nothing happens (it's not the battery - as my wife has the exact phone and I have been interchanging batteries / making sure its charged)..
I have tried several things I found on this site -- holding back button - then plugging in battery, reinstalling SEUS, PC Comp, Java - etc.. -- no luck. At one point yesterday - I removed the battery, connected wall charger and reinserted battery - green light came on - tried the same by plugging into USB port - and PC Companion recognized phone as connected (still wouldn't turn on) -- but I cannot get that to repeat now.. The phone does nothing.
So - anything else I can try to make it come back to life - or I am hosed?
Thanks in advance for the help -- and this forum is pretty awesome.

battery too low i believe!
It seems to me that your battery is on a very low level of charge, since your phone is not working correctly it won't start to charge it as it should.
You can try the following:
Remove the battery, connect the wall charger, wait 2s, place the battery in, leave the phone charging for at least 30min, if the battery or the charger starts getting hot remove the charger and the battery(only charger hot = some sort of short or waste of battery somewhere, battery hot = charge too fast or charge and decharge too fast).
2ยบ charge your battery using a 4,5v DC external connected directly to the battery for at least 20min, the power supply must be at least near 500mah wall charger, even an old mobile charger which you can cut of the wires to connect directly to the battery, remember to test carefully the poles + and -, if you do reverse this YOU WILL KILL THE BATTERY, + goes into + and - into -.
If the battery gets to hot check the poles, if they are correct wait sometime replug the wires and leave it at max 45min.
Put the battery on the phone and test, if it does work try to get to the system and check the battery, if it has more than 70% you can try to reflash everything using seus to make sure you won't get the same error again.
DO not try to reflash the phone with the battery below 30% because if there is any error that is causing your battery to drop too fast it may break your phone.
Thanks for your reply - but as I mentioned in my initial post -- I have tried two batteries (since my wife has the same phone) --- and I have made sure that battery is charged before trying flash mode. I have used both the batteries and the result is the same - the phone won't start - no LED indicators. I have also tried plugging in the charger first and then inserting the battery - no luck.
Thanks.
You seem to have tried everything that I've tried in the many times I've messed up my phone when I've impatiently installed a ROM... I get overconfident a lot =)...
Anyway you seem to be going the right way but have you tried to remove everything from your phone... battery; sim and memory card... for about 5mins.
SEUS is probably your best bet if you can get your comp to recognise it for long enough... I couldn't though... so had to first reflash the baseband using flashtool... which is also a waiting game as it may not recognise it as a X10 anymore, so be prepared to quickly, as the phone will only remain in flash mode for a little while, identify the phone in the popup and then reflash to the right BB first then ROM.

Is there a difference between how you flash baseband v/s the complete firmware using Flashtool? Because even with flashtool I cannot get the phone to go into flashmode - when trying to reflash the firmware.

[Q] Overheating problem

a few days ago, I installed the CM9.1 v6 from scritch's thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1987130
at first, i used the kernel v5 and it was working fine. 3 days ago, i downloaded and flashed the v6 kernel. 2 days ago, I left my phone charging at 47% for an hour or so, when i came back, i saw a black screen and the screen as well as battery was extremely hot(around 35-40 degrees). I tried switching it on but it showed only the kernel logo 'X10 never dies' and then again black screen after flashing blue led 3 times. I waited for 5 minutes. again it got extremely hot. I pulled out the battery and kept it aside for 5 minutes to cool down. after that i tried several times to switch it on but every time i got the same problem and i had to remove the battery to cool it down. at night, i kept the battery out from the phone only. I thought it would work in the morning. But yesterday morning I couldn't even switch it on. I connected it to the charger(an original SE charger with original USB cable). After connecting to the charger also, it heated up instantly but there was no display on the screen and it wasn't charging. I have been trying to charge it since yesterday(using charger and connecting with pc also) but it gets EXTREMELY HOT every time without charging or switching on. Please help me!
What should I do???

Tips to connect your phone in flashmode if there is no green light when you are trying to connect it to flashtool:
1. Press back button while plugging it into your computer USB port.
2. Do not release back button and press power button once while you are pressing back button.
3. Green LED light should appear.
4. Release back button when your phone is detected in flashtool.

I charged the battery fully using an external battery charger. When i connect it to flashtool, the green led glows but as soon as i select the file to flash, the led comes off and it starts heating again. I tried using Sony Update Service also to repair it, but as I click on next after connecting it, the same happens, green led goes off and it starts heating up.
Please SOMEBODY help me!!!!
I downloaded the Stock firmware from the following thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1749426
I downloaded the India Generic Kit 1237-0692. I tried flashing it through flashtool but between 14-15%, the flash mode just goes off and the phone gets disconnected. Now, the condition is worse than before. Earlier, I was able to switch the phone on and see the 'Xperia Never Dies' screen from scritch's kernel. But now, nothing is there. Everytime I try to flash generic firmware either thru flashtool or SEUS, the green led goes off and it gets disconnected.
PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME FIX MY PHONE. I HAVE NO OTHER PHONE TO USE.
I dont really understand what your problem is

You should select the FTF file first then you can connect your phone when the flashtool ask you to connect your phone...
your steps are wrong... the same thing goes to me too when i connect the phone before i select my desired firmware file...
please attach your flashtool log
Here are some suggestions my friends note had a similar problem:
1.Try using a new battery maybe the battery fails as it spoilt and can't handle strain(my friend had this problem)
2.Since your phone won't do anything u can try go to a store and say I don't know what happened and ask for help
3.Did you try entering recovery and flashing a Rom or nandroid backup. Your question is not very clear.
Please let us all know what u did to solve the issue.

[Q] Please help Xperia X10 Not turning on Issue Tried everything :(

Hi Guys I have spent past 5 days searching google watching videos on youtube and I still have issue with my Ericson Xperia X10
I have downloaded Flash tool and that stuck on reading device part and does not go any more.
I have downloaded updates service but it cuts of after url downloaded the software need it, and when it tries to update the phone it self.it says fail I tried this few times.still same thing.
I have downloaded Sony PC Companion same thing it will not update.
I tried videos on youtube from plugin phone in to main charger not the PC and sticking down the on button still nothing happens
I also tried pressing Volume and on button same time still nothing happens.
if I plug the phone in main charger it blinks with red light if I try and turn it on it will blink 3 times with red light and nothing happens
on some occasions it will have steady green light for about 5 minutes and then it just goes off and no green light and no blinking.
This is really frustrating for me and any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have Sony Ericsson xperia x10 ( white version ) please advice.
Thanks guys.
The red flashing LED generally indicates the battery is completely depleted.
Plug the phone into a wall charger and leave it for a few hours, after which (hopefully) you should see an solid red/orange light as it charges.
If it does start to charge when the red LED stops flashing and you get a solid red/orange LED I would suggest to charge it for a good 12hrs+
If may take over an hour before the red flashing LED stops and turns a solid red/orange depending on battery state.
For best charging(and if you still have it) use the original Sony EP800 charger with Sony EC600L cable that came with the phone, as this 'pumps' the largest amount of Amps into the battery and charges quicker.
If you don't get a solid red/orange LED on the phone after approx 3-4hrs charging, then you may need to look at purchasing a new battery.

Try removing the battery from the phone and leaving it out of the phone for 2-3hrs.
The green LED indicates it's in 'Flash mode' and thinks it's waiting to start/complete a firmware install.
I'm guessing you don't have a Sony EP800 charger and Sony EC600L cable and that you using some other combination of charger/cable.
[Update]
After the battery has been removed from the phone (overnight would be good) then insert the battery back in the phone and see if you get a solid red/orange/green charging light and if so, charge for 12hrs+
The reason I ask about the Sony EP800 charger and cable, is that I know it provides over 900mAh draw which means the phone 'should' know it's a AC wall charger, but many other charger/cable combinations only provide a USB ~500mAh draw which could prompt the phone to think it's still attached to a PC and thus remain in it's last connected state. i.e. Flash mode.
Just an idea.

Hi did you install the driver's for flashtool from the folder?
If your SEUS file failed during download then re-download it and go back to stock.
It will update itself and restart be patient :good:
After the install is finished Sony Update Service start's up then follow the on screen instruction's. Agree to license - click Start - Choose x10 - press next etc
Just Follow onscreen Instructions
If your phone has trouble with back key and plug in usb,
Then leave the usb plugged into both phone and computer with your battery out!
Then hold back key and put your battery in :good:
