hello everyone
i have an issue tat my vol down button aint working, so i cant go to download mode and if going to recovery i cant navigate on stock recovery, so how can i root my device, i heard there is a usb jig which i dont have, so any ideas how to root it and how to flash a custom recovery?
Either get the volume button fixed or the USB jig.
S3 toolkit might be able to root.

You could try this it may work >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/framaroot/root-framaroot-one-click-apk-to-root-t2130276 << if you manage to root with this app then you can download apps to boot into download mode to flash a recovery. If not like boomboomer said above.

Try what boomboomer said and get a usb jig off ebay they don't cost much and that would probably work.

the issue is that i dont have Internet visa to buy it, i know it costs few dollars but i dont have a visa

i rooted my device using an advice from a friend to use KINGO ROOT pc app to root my device, it worked and now i need to flash a custom CWM (LATEST TOUCH CWM) any idea how could that be done? shall i be using twrp app from play store or is there an app for CWM?

I do not have access to a computer and want to install cwmr to change the rom. odin mobile does not support my phone, rom manager, says that there is no cwm on my phone. What to do? ok i have litterly tried everything to get my phone back up. what i did was i tried to unlock the bootloader and that didn't work so then i flashed the stock kdz so i could just root and get my touch screen back to normal. i have done this before and it worked fine. idk what i did this time but i'm getting the ecrypting error. i have looked on here for fixes but none are working. i tried the hard reset but it doesn't work it just goes to the android screen and then reboots back to this screen. i tried fastboot and i can't get it to work. please help!!!!!!!!!! i'm have the p769.

About that error, I've read in some threads they said it because busybox. Try to install latest version or replace it with working version. You can find more info by searching.

i have been searching for hours and nothing. i can't get into the home screen to install anything. it just goes to the encrypting screen and that's it!

I think the easiest way is to use LG mobile support tool. refer to this member post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2456558&highlight=encrypt
- Boot you phone to S/W update mode
- Run LG mobile support tool (B2CAppSetup.exe)
- Select recover you phone from menu and wait for about an hour
- *Dont forget to comment lg server that you add in host file for offline flash
There're also other way to fix it, if you can boot into Stock recovery by Holding vol- + ... (I can't remember ), but this combo may hard reset your phone if you don't have stock recovery. In stock recovery mode you can use adb to push and replace busybox. I don't try this myself but some member unbrick their phone by this method.

You're on JB rom? Try to flash ICS u-boot/x-loader using Lelus tool first and try again. But for LG mobile support tool it should go pass 15% even if you flash it or not. May be you don't install latest lg usb driver?

i did download the usb driver.
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i fixed it. woooooooooooooooooooooooo after 3 days!!!!!!!!!! i flashed a recovery and it worked omg! i was losing hope lol! thanks for all ur help

Im using a samsung galaxy s2
I am a complete novice.
I was trying to gain root access. but before that i had to install an insecure kernel, I think i chose a bad 1 as i don't know what im doing Kernel_I9100XWLP4_INSECURE.tar is the kernel and when it wont reboot, just shows the start up screen then goes blank, i then tried to install secure kernel Kernel_I9100XWLP4.tar to see if it would fix it but same problem.
Does any 1 fancy holding my hand through the stages to fix my phone please?

Okay first read what I wrote there earlier:

And then tell me if u can get to recovery? Maybe your bad kernel still brought cwm on your phone, if so you can flash a new rom with good kernel via recovery.
It's also important which model of phone u have, international or something like that

If so maybe you can use it to pull the build.prop. Then you would know.

If by recovery youmean when i press volume down menu and power, then yes i can get that screen, and its the latest firmware for 4.1.2 via kies. and its a uk GT-i1900. on virgin mobile

Volume down is download mode.
Hold menu, power and volume up at the same time.
If you have a custom recovery (likw cwm ClockWorkMod) then you would be able to flash a dorimanx kernel (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1617219) I would download a 7.x version (newest) and flash it through cwm. Or, of course, if you want a different rom then flash the rom like Muthzer the One said.

ok i just got cwm on my desktop (superuser.apk), and i have recovery mode open, would you mind if you could dumb it down a bit for me, i will be so grateful if this is fixed.

superuser is something else then CWM. Superuser is often needed to give root access to apps.
When your in recovery, what does it say on the first line? Maybe Android recovery system or ClockWorkMod, something like that.

when i put the kernal into my documents odin dosnt recognize it as a file, i am doing some thing wrong?
when i get this sorted i still need to learn to root it ... lol

Did you download this one? Kernel_Dorimanx-V8.43-[12-21]-[24-10]-TAR-FOR-ODIN.tar
When you succesfully flashed this kernel through odin you've got root access

yeah that is the kernal ive been trying to download, using winzip to zip it to my desktop, the icon looks like a blank page, and odin wont pick it up, what simple thing am i doing wrong here?

You must not unzip it. Just download it and leave it as it is. Odin needs the tar file.

Hello everyone,
I tryed multiple time to flash my phone (original ROM) with Odin and other software. Every time the connection cannot be established. I have tried with different computers and different cables, including the original one. I came to the conclusion that Micro USB connector in my phone is broken. I can still recharge but data transfer is not possible.
I have an SD card where i can put a ROM in order to update my phone. But if i'm correct that isn't possible if I don't have ClockworkMod Recovery.
So finaly my question: Is it possible to root install a custom recovery without a cable and without root?
So in oder words: If it's not rooted and i have the Stocked recovery I can't do anything without the usb connector.

I would like both. But at this moment I have no USB connector (broken). So I have some kind of a boostrap issue.
Without root no flashing from device
Without custom recovery no root and no other rom.
You need to look for a custom recovery that can be flashed using the update.zip facility in stock. I'm not aware of one but happy searching.

Then you have to flash a "CF-root.tar" file with odin. Then your stock kernel will be rooted, su will be installed and also a custom recovery.
In most cases it will be CWM..... ..... Happy Flashing :angel:

Sounds great, but i can't find any signed custom recovery... I'm now downloading the whole internet on my PC so i can perform a grep...
The issue is that i can't use ODIN because my USB connector is broken.

But there could or is the possibility to root phones with an "odin root apk" .But i think one should not do it in this way
cause you could break your device....The download mode with an odin program and an USB connection to your phone
is the only way.

I use fiwe diferent cables .I changed the USB port on phone. NO connection to PC. i dont known what do next. I've tried everything. can't conect sgs3 to odin. no posibility root. please help. thanks.

Did you try disabling driver signature in windows...

Use mobile Odin from play store install PhilZ recovery,once it is installed go into recovery select fix root in settings done.

Mobile odin is not an app for PC. You can download it on the playstore on your phone so that you can flash .tar.gz files directly on your phone.
