What I want to do:
I have Trigger which activates a task in Tasker named Driving, whenever it touches my NFC-enabled car dock.
In Tasker, I have three tasks: DrivingAM, DrivingPM, and Driving.
DrivingAM and DrivingPM both work fine individually. I want DrivingAM to be only activate if it's between 6am and 9am. I used a single task, Driving, to check for this condition. I have root enabled.
What I tried:
if %TIME > 6.00
if %TIME < 9.00
Perform Task DrivingAM
end if
else
Perform Task DrivingPM
end if

Note that the priority for the Perform Task DrivingAM and Perform Task DrivingPM is +1, so, if I understand it right, it will perform these tasks first if it meets the condition before finishing the current task at hand.
To my understanding, this will:
If it is later than 6am, go to next code, where if time is earlier than 9am, perform task DrivingAM; else, perform task DrivingPM.
But nothing happens... what am I doing wrong?
@Printerscape Use another condition for time in profile instead of using if in the task.

I don't think Trigger can do that... I tried to set it up like that:
Trigger One-
NFC -> Time between 6am and 9am, run DrivingAM
Trigger Two-
NFC -> Time between 9:01am and 5:59am, run DrivingPM
But the NFC chip doesn't trigger it correctly... I think the NFC chip can only carry one set of direction?
I don't think Trigger can do ifs, like:
Trigger-
NFC -> If time between 6-9 run DrivingAM, else run DrivingPM
Also, I don't use profiles in the Tasker app, since I'm not using Tasker to activate these tasks.

I go for long bicycle rides (30 miles +/-) and use Endomondo to keep track of distance, calories, speed, etc. It updates all this information regularly with computer-generated voice and I can hear it through my earphones. One thing Endomondo doesn't do is tell me what time it is. I wear wrist braces because of my history of carpal tunnel problems, so the only way I have for telling time right now is to strap my watch onto the handlebars. Does anyone know if there is an app that will tell me the time at regular intervals? Thanks.
If you are rooted, you can use Tasker to do this, I believe the "Say" command is listed under "Misc" and you can set up a task to say the time at any desired interval. You could even set it up to begin when Endomondo starts and stop when it exits.

Sounds perfect. I'll take a look at Tasker. Thanks!
Edit - Tasker looks like a very useful tool. It also clearly has a learning curve. This will take time, but it could be fun.
I wonder has anyone else felt having a stand-alone alarm on the Gear Fit would be useful using vibration as a wake-up. I really enjoy using the watch as a wake-up device and I know you can set your phone to a silent alarm so it essentially wakes you up by the vibration. But sometimes my phone battery dies during the night or sometimes I want to set a quick day time alarm when I don't have my phone around. The timer I think only goes up to 99 minutes.
Maybe this is only strange to me but not having a built in alarm on the phone seems an oversight. I had the same issue with the Gear 1 and tried a few aftermarket apps such as Zen alarm but found on the phone they often didn't have the alert until hours after it was meant to.
I know these watches are companion devices to a phone but they do include some apps that make sense to have on the phone such as timer, pedometer etc. Always wonder why not an alarm as well.
Agree 100%

the problem is, there are no real apps for gear fit only app connections that are in need of the phone to work.
So what you are suggesting with the standalone alarm won't work if your phone is not connected via bluetooth.
Maybe someday it will be possible to include apps in the firmware but i wouldn't wait for it.(since there isn't much free space)
Best way would be to tell samsung directly in boards or customer support or whatever if they could include a standalone alarm.
Like they listen

Good morning everyone. I also am interested in having the alarm on the Gear Fit, because as the partner says above, if we run out of battery in the phone, or even if the Bluetooth connection is lost no would sound us the alarm, and I see no logical we will put both mobile Vibrate as bracelet at a time.
That said I do not understand because if you can make a calculator application, or one in which the screen turns on and then torch, not to have to create multiple alarms. I'm not saying having a hundred but 2 or 3 alarms at a minimum I think is not much to ask.
I think it's the only thing missing from the bracelet. Anyone know where I can get environment or any program to program applications for Gear? I'm looking and looking to try to create an application and see if we can somehow create if only an alarm.
Regards and forgive the inconvenience.

There should be a better timer and a better stopwatch!! they only go to 99 and that is pretty anoying. I'm thinking someone should also do one of those interval apps, the gear fit is perfect for it so you don't have to be carrying the galaxy device into the gym (which I hate). And of course a standalone alarm with multiple configurations, I can leave with setting it up in the device itself.
Guys, I have come here just to look for such an application. Any developments yet? It seems our device is half baked and using only a small portion of its potential.

yes. the most app I want is an alarm!!!
This sounds like a no-brainer, but the SDK (as I understand it) really only allows an app to respond to touch input and the phone via BT. There's no access to the native clock. I plan on looking into it, pretty much just to tinker, because I lost my fitbit and BT8010, and this was a much less expensive replacement (used). I've got a class to finish, and a kid to raise, so it might not be timely. Don't expect much.
This little guy really does have potential. It's a crying shame the software development didn't support it. Really, Samsung's pretty software sucks like no other manufacturer I've ever seen. And I'm WinMo-3.0 old.

a vibrating alarm for gear fit!
There isnt a need for a stand alone alarm, atm its not possible. The Gear Fit isnt designed to have apps loaded on it, just on the phone & used via bluetooth.
I think an Ideal solution to this would be an Alarm App that can be downloaded as usual to the phone, and accessed on the Gear Fit.
For the Alarm to be 100% silent on the Phone (with no vibration either) but to vibrate on the Gear Fit - the settings for the alarm could be edited either on the phone or via the 'App Connect' feature on the Gear Fit....
I think this would give the solution people are wanting???

You can do this with the built in Alarm (via the Clock app) on your phone. Just make sure Alarm is checked under Instant Alerts in the Gear Fit Manager. You can even dismiss or snooze directly from the Gear Fit.
How do you get it to appear in the instant alerts? I only see incoming calls

Working Alarm for Gear Fit
Just recently got rid of my FitBit and got a Gear Fit but had the same question as you. I tried the different alarm apps and tried to us the Gear Fit Manager app to make them function.
Lo and behold! I did not have to get an app as the Clock app already loaded with my Samsung S5 works just fine. Just set your alarm on this Clock app, go to your Gear Fit Manager app, then go to Notification. Scroll down to Instant Alerts for Gear: 3 and put a check mark on Alarm. Voila!
Of course, I did a test first and yes, my Gear Fit vibrates with the alarm at the exact time NOT an hour later like the Sleep as Android app.
Hi,
its possible prolong time in countdown app ??? i cant set on 90 min. If it´s possible we can use this app like alarm.
I just started learning about tasker and NFC but I'm wondering if tasker is worth it for an unrooted Note 4 or if most tasks would be impossible?
--Sent from my Note Pro 12.2
yes most tasks it´s impossible, but you can create awesome tasks whitout root, it´s a great app.
With regards to NFC, automation is impossible.
You cannot disable samsungs tag app without root, so you will constantly be asked to choose which app you want to perform the action.

Tasker is on many "must have" lists but be aware it is not a simple thing to set up. That said, there is a ton of stuff you can do without root.
Common examples:
Turn off PIN while at home and WiFi connected (this used to require root on older phones apparently, but not on the N4).
Change sound settings for night time operation.
Activate driving mode and other settings when connected to car bluetooth.
Search YouTube for Tasker. There are also some great threads around about it.

Tasker is geat.
You can do a lot stuff without having your note 4 rooted. While you get a little familiar with how tasker works you'll be able to do very cool stuff with it. So yes! It's worth each penny, even if you're unrooted!
Cheers
When delay shutdown is enabled some apps continue working. For example the podcast app I'm using continues playing all the two hours until real shutdown if not paused manually before. On the other hand some apps seem to stop. I wonder if anybody has some info on what is happening during delay. Are there some system messages which could be processed by the app to sense power off?
I don't know the answer to this, but have more questions / observations.
I installed the app Car Service, so I can control Spotify via the wheel. This is closed when the delayed shutdown happens, so, when I turn on again within that time the wheel controls no longer work unless I start the app manually. Very annoying!
I really could do with working out what is deciding if an app should stay running or be closed.

You can use Tasker with MTC Manager to do this. MTCM sends a broadcast intent during poweroff that can be used to trigger a task
Tasker Profile: Event, System, Intent Recived, Action: "com.microntek.bootcheck" // leave everything else blank.
Profile Task: Media, Media Control, Cmd Pause, select your app. If: %class ~ poweroff
Thanks a lot for this profound reply. Will try it right away.

MTC manager is a service that handles all the source switching and custom functions of these head units. Could you change the profile task to something else? Lets see if the profile is working, could be some changes on 5.1. Maybe have it write a file since the screen will be off.
Hi,
Mate 10 Pro user here.
When I play audio via Bluetooth to my car or headphones, after the screen switches off the audio stops.
When I switch the screen back on the audio starts back up.
Any ideas? Seems like some power optimisation, but I can't find anywhere to fix it.
Tia
Which player are you using? It sounds like the 'phone is killing your (presumably non-stock) music player.

None of these are by default allowed to run in the background (thank Huawei's rather vicious power management system), which would explain why they're being killed as soon as the system thinks you're no longer using them.
Go to Settings -> Battery -> Launch and switch whichever player you want to use to "manage manually," and leave all three manual settings set to "on" (or in the very least, leave the "run in background" option enabled).
This should then allow your preferred media player to continue running in the background after the screen locks.

To tell you the truth, I was getting ready to try to sell my Mate 10 when it was three days old, because the power saving features are so intrusive.
As time has progressed though, I've learnt to embrace its idiosyncrasies and am now very happy with it all 'round.
Just one more point which I'm sure you'll encounter sooner rather than later - if you need an app to consistently run in the background (for example, Tasker or an e-mail client), you'll want to tell the Mate 10 to allow it to do so;
Settings -> Apps & Notifications -> Apps -> Settings (the cog at the bottom of the screen) -> Special Access -> Battery Optimisation
... then set your critical apps to "Don't Optimise."
Until I did this for K9 Mail and Tasker, I was only getting notification updates when I unlocked the 'phone, which more often than not was a couple of hours after I was sent an urgent e-mail.

You are happy that this setting works for you! For me for example, that doesnt solves anything! I would sell it for sure, but theres just no point. gonna wait one year, but not going to buy huawei by any means.
