uhhh,,, whichever one you feel meets your needs of the gapps package............
I personally use either Mini or Full and then delete the stuff I dont want,,,
just recently I started using the .gapps-remove feature to simplify the process as I tend to flash a lot on my new phone
Chrome as a browser is real nice but it is extremely slow with our limited memory... I would recommend staying with Stk Browser or some other favorite light Browser...
Also I personally felt that the Now Launcher tends to get slow/laggy and finally keeping with the included DU launcher... I dont use the 'OK Google' stuff anyway nor do I like having a searchbar on any of my launcher homepages
here is my remove entries I use with the Full package recently

Seeing as how their we have so much excess free space on /system, but quite limited space on /data, I thought I'd make this addon, based off the traditional Google Apps .zip addon for CyanogenMod. It contains the latest of all the included apps, as of the 26th. Included are nearly all the major Google apps available from the market.
There is also an Apps Pack Plus, containing several popular apps (Astro, Dropbox etc), system utilties (ROM Toolkit, Titanium Backup), Apps that are important to keep after a factory reset (Where's My Droid), social media apps (Faceboook + Messenger, eBuddy), and other useful apps that I personally use.
All the apps included are free and available on the Market, if any developer wants them removed, I will do so.
You can flash each on its own, however its highly recommended you flash the Google Apps Standard .zip. The Apps Pack Plus is very optional, and you can delet any of the .apks in it without issue.
Thanks to: Google, the CyanogenMod team, the developers of the included apps, and also Schwinni over at MoDaCo whose expanded GApps for the Blade inspired me.

In Google Apps Standard .zip

Its just to free space in /data.
All these apps are the latest versions, and thus, versions in /daa will be removed freeing data. Cyanogens version is quite outdated at this stage. If you dont want to use it thats fine, if you do you are free to remove things or to request changes. And yeah. Read the first post.
In the long run this will end up taking more space in /data/ than it would before, as updates are released for apps that could of been moved to sd card but can't now as original app is in /system/.

Just use system cleanup to move the updates to the system again, xda just posted an article about it!
nice pack
thanks for the zip i flashed it and took out a few apps with titanium and then used system cleanup to transfer data to system and it worked great on my xplay(r800i 2.3.4 locked bootloader and CWM)
thank you for the tips

No problem! just so you know you can actually just delte apps from the .zip before you install it in Recovery.
If anyone wants changes, just ask
Rebranded the larger package as Google Apps Plus, and added a smaller package called Google Apps Standard.
Theres been no app updates, mind, due to Christmas I guess.
Made Google Apps Standard the main package, AppsPackPlus is now an optional add-on. Last change to format, promise!
Also updated Google Books app to latest version.
Also, I was thinking of adding Google Reader to the GApps standard package, and maybe Chrome To Phone and Google Authenticator to one of the packages. Thoughts?
Chrome to phone is a big yes. Use that one everyday.. (though with firefox.. so you might change that to 'browser to phone' for advanced configuration. Works the same as default chrome to phone though..)
Goolge Reader would be a big nono.
How about pulse? - Best News Readers (or RSS in general.) - Pulse.me
WhatsApp? - Most used?
Twitter? - why not?
Rolle Youtube? - Download Youtube Videos!
the XDA App? - Obviously?!
Camera Mod? - Right button Shoot
Also i love the XingPlayer aswell as TinyShark (and it's downloader!).. but that's just my preference there.
Edith:
Big Question.
I've been using my System with gapps ( obviously ) for about 2 months now.
Is it safe to flash your files above them without errors?
Will do a nandroid nontheless, but curious

Hey folks, I'm currently using the latest GAPPS 21122012 on my AOKP 4.2.1 by helicopter88. Ok, enough background info.
When uninstalling certain apps like the sh!tty play store, Google Voice, Talk, Download Manager and others (only want GMAIL to work), my file explorer (using ES File Explorer) complains the apps haven't been uninstalled, but they certainly are.
And the (oh what a surprise) the gapps service keeps crashing on every reboot of the phone as well as every hour at least once.
QUESTION: How to enable full functionality of GMAIL (I have the APK) without having to install the whole bloatware package of GAPPS? I heard of a project called "NoGAPPS" - an option? A detailed guide would be awesome, every helpful answer gets a THANKS!

First of all, the latest gapps for 4.2.1 are 20121212 not 21122012 which may be part of your problem.
I believe Gmail depends on the framework and other modules that install as part of the gapps so installing just the Gmail .apk won't work. K-9 Mail is based on the original Android email client and has a lot of functionality that Gmail doesn't have so you could give that or another email app a try as a replacement for Gmail.
And don't expect to get an answer immediately just because your thread is viewed. There are a lot of lurkers on these forums and some people that are curious but may not have and answer or advice.

Hello,
I wish to use Android without Google. I mean, android without any google apps (gapps pack) installed just after flashing AOSP rom. I already identify and tested all alternatives apps of Google apps I used. I use already the alternative android market F-Droid. However, before use Android without Google, I want to know feedback of users that already do it. In particular about my question:
What are the constraints, bugs and disadvantages while using Android without Google installed?
Thanks
F droid is a good alternative but of course you have less apps

yes, you have less apps
There are fewer apps, and they work great but you may need to look for other services to replace Google's unless you want to run the web apps (see Gapps Browser). An excellent choice is owncloud: see http://sufficientlysecure.org/index.php/2013/11/26/an-android-without-google/ for a short guide to replacing contact, calendar, todo and password sync.
I think the major downside is losing the advanced location functionality and push notifications available to apps that use Google Play Services. On the other hand your battery may thank you for not using it. Xmpp based messaging apps are a little battery hungry but not too bad. I've been using CM without Gapps for ages, and it works fine, but I'm hoping OmniROm will be more friendly.

Hi guys, has anyone seen a list of all Google apps and services that can be disabled or deleted? I love the skinned ROM on my phone and all the features, I've started disabling and uninstalling as much Google as I can.
Hey it's ridiculous to buy a Google android device and not use the apps that are considered the advantage of android on other OSes. But a good alternative to Google play is amazon appstore
Sent from my GT-I8190 using Tapatalk
I disagree. When Google branded Android phones had a smaller market share, I would say there was more choice, you could avoid Google. Now that they dominate smartphone sales and change their policies it's different. It's becoming a monopoly and we are losing that choice.
Yeah I did try the Amazon app store, re-downloading it now to give it another go...

Problems
From the author of the No Google apps project:

Android without Google apps have several problems:
Some apps do not install because of missing Google Maps API
Some apps fc at startup bacause of missing Maps API or market license check issues
Some apps hardcoded links to several Google Apps and therefor fc or react unexpectedly on certain cases.
No access to Play Store (i tried nearly every alternative market, but nothing is as good for free apps as play store) Meanwhile, F-Droid provides nearly everything you need

Why not just use 1Mobile Market. Completely legal play store alternative. Even has all the Google apps like maps and Google services if you so desire. (defeats the purpose I know). I went this route as I want total control of my devices. Google has got out of hand with their apps and Play Services Framework and whatever else they cram in. The apps on 1Mobile Market are more up to date than the Amazon App store also which sometimes can be multiple versions behind. So just flash AOSP, grab the 1Mobile Market APK (Google it) and go to town.

Hi.
Apologies for the post out of the blue.
I salvaged an old Nexus 7 (2012) Grouper, with the aim of using it as a book reader for my wife, and after playing with it for a while in the stock ROM it was noticeably slow. After reading a bit about it, I ended up installing the latest unnoficial version of LineageOS 11.0 from here, hoping to speed it up.
I also installed the OpenGApps pico package, and then manually installed Google Play Books to access my library.
However, while everything seems to be working as smooth as butter so far, I struggle to find the "Play - My Library" widget on the widget selection screen. It used to be available on the stock 5.1 rom, and I believe it belongs to the Play Store application. In fact, in my other Nexus 7 Grouper on stock ROM that has that widget, it claims to be on
Play Store v7.8.16.P-all [0] [PR] 155590935
While the one I just flashed from OpenGApps seems to be even more recent:
v.7.9.30.Q-all [0] [PR] 157075589
I tried to install another version of the Play Store from apkmirror.com but it fails to install. I also can't remove the Play Store application, for some reason, so I'm kind of at a dead end.
I'd love to be able to use the "Play - My Library" widget to cover the whole screen, but I can't seem to make that happen. The "Play Books" widgets are just too small to be useful (1 book or 4 books).
Would anyone have any ideas on how to make this work? Does anyone have a similar configuration and have a different experience? I was trying to see if the P-all vs Q-all would make any difference, but I'm at a loss. Any pointers, help or guidance would be very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your time.
EDIT: Also, just checked, both devices have the same version of Google Play Services - 11.0.55 (230-156917137) and Play Books (3.13.17).

what package of OpenGApps did you flash?
also, did you try looking for a newer LineageOS? like LOS 12.1, 13, OR 14?
maybe that widget doesn't work on KitKat, I'm not sure..

Hi MigoMujahid, thanks for the prompt reply!
I tried the Pico ARM OpenGApps package. I may test the full one later and see how it goes.
I suppose trying a newer LineageOS version is a good recommendation, at least to try it out. The reason I was avoiding those is because the last "effective" well-performing OS on this old tabled is 4.4. And you may be right, it might be that the widget doesn't work on KitKat.
I'll try a new package, per your suggestion, and may test out a newer LineageOS package, hoping it won't affect the performance significantly.
I'll report back in case I succeed - or fail miserably
Have a good weekend, thank you!

Edit: I installed now 7.8.74.P (from apkmirror) and the widget is back again.

Yes, I'm finding a similar behavior.
If I install from apkmirror the widget does return, though then Play Services keeps crashing on me.
What has worked for me so far is to start from an older Pico GApps release:
https://github.com/opengapps/arm/releases?after=20160423
It will then upgrade to the latest versions, and it seems to have the widgets.
I'm now just struggling to install Google Play Music, as I keep getting error -24, so I'm trying to configure the GApps installation.
But yes, progress.
So, I solved this by using the Aroma package, from the older date I just shared, and installing Play Music from there.
All is good now.
Sorry for the trouble, and I hope this helps others.

Just replacing Phonesky.apk in /system/priv-app is much quicker and easier
Just read about this amazing article about /e/ and got really excited when I saw that there's an early beta available for "land" users. An android os which is free of Google. This is all I ever wanted. As this is currently my primary device I'm a little bit hesitant on trying this ROM. But would love to try if a stable version releases or I buy a new phone (whichever happens first). If you want you can try this ROM now from their official website. Do share your experience if possible.
Follow this link for land https://gitlab.e.foundation/e/wiki/en/wikis/device/land/info
But do we still possible to install gapps? I've never heard of it nor saw it anywhere else.
Edit: Oh, I aware the rom now. I might wanted to know more about this and test it.
I installed it and tested it.
System is extremely stable and completely free of bugs.
There is no play store or play services. It's developed keeping data privacy in mind.
MicroG is pre installed.
Apks can be manually installed.
Google account contacts, calendar etc can be synced.
It's based on android 7
please share screenshot on rom
Thanks

Android 7? Then I guess it's not treble based. So can you share a bit more info on the ROM like about battery life, daily usage and performance etc. I'm really curious.
Oh is IR blaster working? And how's the camera?
I've tried it too, I thought battery backup would be great without google thing around, but it's just the same, performance is slightly better than other nougat rom, but because of the animation, pie is still feels like faster and definitely have better battery backup. Stock camera is bad, cannot sync on google play account, chrome etc. But no major bug found. Well I guess I need google more than I know.

Yeah, I read it on some thread, you still could sync your google stuff with microg as google replacement, so that's why I got interested in. It might early build bug, and we could sync it after rom updated. I dunno.
