Cheaper Stylus

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad tablet that didn't come with a stylus. Anybody know where the cheapest place to get one is?

Cheapest I've found is Amazon.com, here.
It seems to be at least $40 everywhere else.
If you want to go cheap, any n-trig pen should work for the tpt. I had a stylus from an HP slate which worked just as well on my thinkpad. Problem would be fitting in it's holder though. Check eBay I got an official pen there new for around $40 (USA)

This isnt actually a cheaper option, but hear me out. The stylus from the HTC flyer works great with the Thinkpad Tablet, AND fits in the hole in the back of the device. The buttons on the pen apparently are useless, great for me, since I moved from a flyer to this - the pen was free because I already had the Flyer stylus.
Other than the HTC stlyus being grey as opposed to red/black - I cannot see any difference between the two. Only problem is - the HTC stylus is about 20 dollars more expensive than the lenovo one. /Facepalm

Wacom Pens compatible with the Note

Just want to say that all the replacement Wacom pens i've purchased for my Asus EP121 tablet (12.1" Windows 7 Tablet with Capacative/Wacom input like the Note) work just fine on the note And much more comfortable to use than the S-Pen (haven't tried with the holder)
The three i've tested are the stock pen that comes with EP121, the Axiotron Studio, and the Axiotron Digitizer. Picked them up from here: http://www.nationwidesurplus.com/casearch.aspx?SearchTerm=wacom+pen with a 10% discount or so from a coupon code a few months back.
This is going to make it even harder not to carry my tablet with the note since I can tether the tablet to it..
I think any "Wacom Penenabled" pen will work with the device. I've noticed that so far that the eraser works, but the 2nd button does not.
do you know if the pressure sensitivity is more accurate with the wacom pens? The s-pen (at least mine) has almost no travel, seems like off and on.

I didn't even think to try this out. My pen from a HP tx2500 works too! The eraser, pressure sensitivity, and the button works. its a lot easier to use too. Thanks

I didn't even think about this possibility. I have a similar HP laptop with the touch and pen. Forget which model exactly, I have a new laptop now. However, if the pen works with the note when I get it, I'm going to constantly carry it with me unless I'm wearing basketball shorts or sweatpants, as the pen that came with my laptop is a great size and has some weight to it. Thanks for reminding me!

i noticed last week that the wacom stylus for my Fujitsu T4220 works on the Note. i agree with OP, sounds like all wacom stylus' will work with the Note.
and yes, pressure sensitivity is noticed on the Note by this wacom stylus from my Fujitsu...so they probably all do that.
All my thinkpad tablet pens work.

My Intuos2 doesn't work. I'll have to try Intuos3/Cintiq next time I'm at my friend's studio. Any way to disable non-pen drawing input on the S Memo app?
Wacom Intuos4 stylii also don't work on the Note, ah well.

I think you are right
I own an HP Tx2500 and i pulled the pen out of it last night for fun... it also has a clicking button, much like the note...i was able to take a screenshot and pull up the S memo, just like i was using the S Pen. pretty neat
Anybody considering buying a high quality wacom pen? I think if I end up using the S Pen enough that I could see myself buying this:
https://www.wacom.com/en/Store/Pages/Product.aspx?product=KP1302&crumb={A8DA06FA-349A-4FF4-A998-DF0429E676DF}
It's damn expensive, but if I could find a deal somewhere I would definitely drop some cash on one.

Yeah that pen wont work you have to use a pen that works with a Wacom pennable display. These are specific pens that are designed for integrated tablet options. Try looking at IBM pens fore the x61 and above machines. they are all over Ebay and cheap about 15 - 20 dollars a pen. I'm sitting here in a room full of Intuos 3 and 4 pens and none of them actually work on my note, they are not compatible.
I Just tried a friends Cintiq pen, and it did not work on my note. Also tried the pen that came with my first generation 5" wacom tablet it also did not work; did try a pen off a random HP pen tablet in the office and that does work. Not sure what the differences in pen technology are, but obviously there are some.

There is a difference in many generations of Wacom pen tech. In my tests all of the Penabled styluses have worked very well. so it seems a good rule of thumb here when considering a higher quality stylus is if its a stylus designed for a Wacom branded product. Or a stylus for a 3rd party product that happens to use Wacom Technology. no first party products have worked in my tests and all 3rd party ones have. Currently I am using the stylus from the Samsung 7 series tablet. Eraser works, button works , a noticeable increase in pressure accuracy and above all else its better shielded to prevent the auto-pressing bug many are facing with the S-pen. I'd be shocked if Samsung doesn't try to market a "S-pen pro" device in the near future.
I purchased my 7 series tablet pen from amazon for about 30 bucks.

REALLY the slate's pen works?? I carry my slate pen everywere in my pocket ready to use on my slate, but i went to a best buy and decided to try my stylus on the note that i saw on display it didn't work =\ , I really hope it really does work because this will be great. But i do have the developers version of the slate, doubt that should make a difference. My note comes in a few days..cross my fingers!
Also for others interested the great thing about the Samsung Slate Stylus is that it has a penclip so i easily clip it to the inside of my pocket and not worry about it falling out.
Wacom "Penabled" pens work, which you'll usually find with tablet PCs. Confirmed with the pen from my Thinkpad X60.
Wacom's regular line of pens, such as from the Bamboo, or the Intuos, do not work.
Note that even the eraser on my Thinkpad pen worked in the Memo app! Very cool.
As a cheaper alternative to the Samsung digitizer pen (for the slate). There is a company called Nationwide Surplus that sells white Axiotron digitizer pens for about $18 with free shipping. It's basically the same thing as the Samsung.
White stylus
They also sell a 3 pack of these for $50.
They sell an Axiotron Studio pen as well which includes a grip. I used to have one of these and they are very nice and comfortable, but might be overkill for the note.
I just ordered a 3-pack of the white stylus to have some stock. They come with extra nib units too. Great deal.
I purchased this one a few days ago on their site, the price was $14.

I would've loved to have gone for one of those Axiotron pens, but I'm particular about my gadgets being black.
I went and opted for this Toshiba pen. At $35 shipped, it was the cheapest black pen I could find. Those Samsung pens started at $40ish shipped, and I like how it looked thinner and more pencil-like than the Samsung.

Cool. Also, if you are in need of another at some point you can search around for a Fujitsu branded one. These pens are all basically the same. And there are deals to be had. No real reason to pay more than $20 for one of these.

Best Tablet to Accompany N3

I previously had a Neuxs 7 (dropped and broke it), but do to the size of the N3 there's no point in getting a 7 or 8 inch tablet. I just bought the Sony Xperia Tablet from Best Buy, but now it almost seems like a waste of money because the N3 can do almost everything except be used as an ebook reader for me.
Are there are any cheap tablet alternatives out there that people could recommend?
Also is the Note 10.1 worth the price?
ipad of course

I picked up the new Note 10.1 yesterday. Awesome tablet.
Has all the same functions as Note 3, of course. Super thin and light, and the screen is AMAZING. The 32 GB version costs exactly the same as the 32GB iPad, which is what I'm switching from. Plus you get expandable storage.
To me, it's well worth the money.
I'm just still having a hard time finding a good case for it. Will probably get a sleeve until Samsung gets its crap together and mass-releases the Book Cover.
Samsung blows at accessories. Simply terrible.

Combined case and keyboard?

Anyone seen a aluminium cover and BT keyboard for the Z Ultra? I have seen such designs for the Samsung Galaxy 10.1 and Note 8 at the Brando online shop.
Thanks in advance

wooki, do you have a pointer to where you got yours?
I found a keyboard cover for my wife's Galaxy Note 8, it's a decent one with solid keys and scissor-action switches. I would love to find one designed specifically for the XZU.
I considered similar sized devices which have keyboard covers available, which might be used.
The Galaxy Tab 3 7" is about as close in size as I could find but bigger:
http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=5422&idPhone2=5540
and there are keyboard covers for that. You'd have to make a sort of shell/frame for the XZU to fit in which makes it the same size as the Tab 3 7".
The Samsung Galaxy Mega is a little smaller:
http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=5398&idPhone2=5540
and I found a keyboard cover for the mega from the same seller on ebay & amazon
--edit-- I was a complete doofus. the keyboard case I mentioned previously was just a fancy case with a picture of a keyboard on it, though they do have an XZU case with a picture of a keyboard!!
I'm sorry but I found it on eBay.. Don't know what I was searching for..
Look for an universal 7" Tablet Bluetooth keyboard cover and combine it with the Sony CP12 cover (it adds the required width) and thats all I can help you with

possible keyboard dock?
http://docteur-gsm.com/en/sony-xperia-z-ultra/161247-sony-xperia-z-ultra-keyboard-dock.html
with only one picture, and that taken at an angle so as to render it less useful, I am not sure whether this is just a portable keyboard that could be used with the XZU, or that it might be a proper keyboard case/cover/dock???

Bought one. Time to pick a case

I got my 12.2 this afternoon. So far so good but now it is time to get a good case, having that big screen unprotected is leaving me nervous.
Anyone having good recommendations?
Tab was pricey but came with a 64gb card and 6 months of Netflix free.
I haven't had much time with it but let me know if you have questions. This is my first tab (of any kind) but I've used Andis for a long time and have a rooted Note 2.
Thanks.
you bought the 12.2 note pro or tab pro? i'm looking for the 12.2 tab pro and it's not released yet..
It doesn't look like the cases from Samsung are out yet, and are only for pre-order at the mo. Also I don't see much in the way of 3rd party yet. It's great to have a bleeding edge device but it sucks to wait for everything like cases, root, etc..

12.2 Note Pro.
I'm not fully sure I will adapt to the size or if I need a tablet at all, so something tells me I might end up selling it in two or three days. That will definitely be a needless loss of money, but sometimes there's no way to know until you experiment.

try getting a BT keyboard and mouse, it might make things better, I guess..
If you search eBay there are a ton of cases for around $20. However, when I pick mine 12.2 up on Sunday I will be getting the Zagg Cover-fit bluetooth keyboard case. (link) I've had the original tab since day 1, almost 3 years ago, and I've been using the Logitec bluetooth case that is very similar to the Zagg case in the link. I literally have about 7 cases for my original tab at home that I've collected over the years but have only used the keyboard/case exclusively since I got it.
The Zagg is $100, which is what the Logitech cost at launch (I got it later on clearance for $15), but it's worth every penny.
Picked up an 8.4 yesterday and it's fantastic. Literally only the Belkin case is available immediately so I passed on that. I paid 50 for the Samsung Book case on their site...it appears to be available now, so hopefully it gets here quick. Toddler in the house!
Now we just gotta get these things rooted and unlocked with a form of stock Android. Magazine UX is terrible.
I'm waiting on the Tab pro to come out, but after using the poetic slimline case on my N7, I'll be looking at something like this http://www.amazon.com/Series-Samsun..._sim_pc_4?ie=UTF8&refRID=10YW9X29YEQEN39KKBS8. By mid-March, more cases may be around for 12.2.
The IBlason cases are linked in the Accessory thread.

I've been very happy with this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00H1OQYIA/ref=oh_details_o03_s00_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The Moko Samsung Galaxy Note PRO & Tab PRO 12.2 Case.
It's cheap, but feels sturdy and nice materials. It has magnetic closure that turns off the screen of my Tab Pro 12.2 when I close the case. It props up nicely. The only minor issues I have are the pen holder is cheap stretchy material and is badly located and the case has a cheap elastic strap designed to help keep it closed. I don't use the strap. I may cut it off, but it's not intrusive.
