Hi,
Just to share an experiment I did.
Ive been a heavy customizer of any smartphone I had. From HD2 times to G2 & my recent Z2 (apparently, I am inclined to the 2's). I would say that G2's battery is really solid. One day, I decided to just go back to stock and disabled a lot of things just for the fun of experimenting. I put a sim in my G2 that nobody knows so no one will call or text, left it in my desk drawer & forget about it. Best time to give my other phone a good test drive.
After more than 24 hours, this is what I got from 100-99% discharge: 2271 hours of estimated stand by time!!! That was just sheer crazy stuff. I know you'll never want to just keep the phone idle but its good to know what it is capable of. Anyway, after a day of playing with my new Z2, I missed my G2 so I used it and still was able to get 6+hours of screen on time with a total of 80+ hours of light usage, mostly social and browsing and some wechat dash gaming.
After this, I still want my phone to explore new heights. Its a G2 but it can become any other phone. A body that can have many different souls. In many ways, I just happy to have this phone. Simply capable. Now if I decide to root again & maximize G2, Tasker & Greenify are must-haves.
For now, G2 deserves a rest after a year it made me enjoy tweaking. It will be a secondary phone for now.
For my experience, just calculating the time from 100% to 99% is not accurate. You may find it takes long to drop to 99%, but then the battery will drop faster.

Yup totally agree. I have used devices that take about 10+mins to drop 1% from 100% and then start dropping about 1% every 5-6mins.

I agree to the both of you. I think thats how the battery of G2 works. Thats why I said in my post I used the phone after this experiment and was able to get 6 hours of SOT with a total of 80H standby time. It was very far from 2271hours estimate. Phones are meant to be used anyway thats why its not going to happen unless you dont use it and even leave it in airplane mode. The 100-99% drain of G2 is rather deceiving compared to my Z2 which drops 100-99 a few minutes after I remove it from the charger.
To add some info.. I had a friend buy my G2 for me since it was from another city. He forgot to turn it off so it was left in its box until I got it which took some days. It was in airplane mode but when I got it battery was at 7% and standby time was.... you ready? Over 600 hours. Cant remember exact screen on time but it wasnt more than 50 mins.
This was with stock KK but at that time it was 20B (I upgraded to 20D and never really tested 20B). I was amazed when I saw that standby time!!

Battery was epic for me on JB, not so good on KK. Now on CloudyG3 it's great again.

Hello, my first post and android phone. Anyway, I've been looking around and noticed most peoples display only uses around 30% whereas mine uses 66-70% consistently. I have my screen brightness to 10% as well so I'm not sure how that can be. Can anyone shed any light on this? Battery life seems to be alright so far.I've only charged twice so far and second time I'm at about 5 hours in and I'm at 68% battery left. I think the display is killing the battery more than it should be.
Thanks.
Depending on what you do, screen uses more or less battery If you play a game that uses a lot of phone's power, it will take more battery, therefore leading to less percentage usage from the screen.
If your battery life is okay, then you're alright
i think you just havent looked long enough. many many people have their display showing in the list as 60-80% more often than not. and my nexus one also has the display around 75%, each day, every day, for a year. the display is just always the highest.
the only way its low is if you use standby the entire time and dont turn your screen on for more than 2 minutes.
Okay, that sounds about right. It just seems weird. I haven't really had a chance to really do anything except browse the internet and download apps from the market. I haven't even gotten a chance to play any games. The display just doesn't ever seem to go below 60% while I see screenshots of other people's battery usage and they are all 30%. Crazyness I say.
66% ....
The mark of the devil burn it !!!!!!!
Yeah I was wondering about this as well.
I have no idea if this is normal? Running Cognition S2 v1.07.
The battery does run down pretty quickly, but I'm using it quite heavily at the moment as it's new.

yeah just give it some time, you will adjust to your new device. i promise it seems very normal so far.
as a test do some over night standby tests and check your numbers in the morning.
It is surely relative to how long the phone has been on and what else has been using power.
66% of a little battery life, isn't as bad as 66% of the whole battery life,
??I think I know what I mean
After reading through so many threads about owners having issues with the battery life, I thought I'd start a happy thread!
I've had my SGS2 for almost two weeks now and I've always been happy with the battery life because it seemed to last a while.
I'm not up to the stage where i can just leave the phone alone (because I always want to play with it!), but I did an experiment 3 nights in a row to see how much power the phone drains in standby mode.
Each night, I'd charge my phone up to 100% and take it off the charger and then wake up to see how much power is remaining.
I left all the settings as-is and DID NOT turn anything off (eg 3G, etc).
The first night, I didnt touch my phone from 11pm and woke up at 7am to see that there was 97% battery left.
The second night, I left the phone alone at 11:30pm and woke up at 8am with 96%.
The third night, I slept at midnight and woke up at 8am to have 97% left.
If I average it out, it means that the phone on standby drains a lot less than 1% per hour. At that rate, the bettary seems like it can go with minimal use for at least two or three days. But it's something that I haven't been able to test just yet because I'm constantly surfing the net, testing out apps, etc during the day.
Admittedly, I don't have all that much installed on the phone that could possibly drain battery:
Friend Caster
Kakao
Whatsapp
Crazy Colours Live Wallpaper
Seekdroid
Official EBay
Battery Solo Widget
"Standard" clock
"Applications Running" widget
(I've got more applications, but the ones listed above are the ones that might have some sort of network connection and/or widgets that may need to update during the night).
I'm also using stock Vodafone Australia firmware in Melbourne city (in Australia):
Baseband: I900TDUKF4
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7-I9100TDUKF4-CL331615
Build Number: GINGERBREAD.DUKF4
Does anyone else get battery life like this?
I'm not sure how big a role the network plays in these stats because I'm based in the centre of a major city.
As much as I hate the Vodafone bloatware, I've been reluctant to flash other firmwares like I did on my previous HTC Aria/HTCHD2/HTCDiamond because this one works so well with the battery.
3% battery over night ?. I get under 10%, with all off what can be off, with no funky widgets, no data, no wifi, no nothing. Still phone wakes up in the night for unkown reason and 80% of battery is taken by mysterious Android OS process.
I had Optus bloatware and I kept it for a week or two. I wasn't unhappy with the battery life but wanted to customise it and get root.
After flashing Lite'ning it was obvious how much less battery drain there was. I have since moved to Cognition and I am very happy with how it's going. I charge nightly, but I've never had the battery drop below 50%, and I do use the phone quite a lot. I wouldn't say I'm a heavy user (it's all so subjective) but I would have to be at least medium if not more.
I also love the Black Theme by Nitrozk and Pele, which is why I moved from Lite'ning to Cognition to begin with.

That is a problem with the 2.3.3 firmware mate. Best switch to 2.3.4 ASAP!
To answer your question, yes, I'm hugely impressed by the battery life.
Here's my latest and I'm still at 15%. I'm bone stock on KF3 with all the syncs set to every three hours and using Exchange push.
People blame everything (Wi-Fi Sharing, AOS) for their issues except what they do to their individual phone. Network signal strength plays a big role so does the individual router used for Wi-Fi access. But outside of that there's no other explanation other than individual configuration when identical phone's from the factory get such different results.
I don't participate in battery threads because they're pointless. Dozens of different people using the phone differently with different apps and settings on different carriers all talk in circles when there's no common basis for a legitimate discussion.
I'd call 3% overnight something impressive.
I'll try it out tonight.
I'm running 2.3.3 (No updates avaliable here in Brazil) and i'm not about to root it now. I'm getting a generic 7" tablet to mess around and learn how to do it properly.
So i'll be running minimalistic UI, Snowstorm, Battery Monitor Widget Pro on the desktop, with 2 screens.
HSPA+, bluetooth and wifi disabled.
Let's see how it turns out tomorow morning.
One thing i wanted was to flash in Samsung's oficial fw for Brazil, mine's a carrier customized one, and that's sort of pissing me off since i wanted to uninstall 75% of the garbage Claro has installed here.

I agree with you BarryH... having put the great battery stats in the first post, I wouldn't expect anywhere near that sort of level had I been playing with the phone or I had a thousand apps that run constantly in the background.
Having said that, it seems that there are the people who do have legitimate problems and then there are the people who simply have unrealistic expections of the battery in such a powerful phone. Kinda like buying a big truck expecting it to run on the same amount of fuel as a little car.

Let me know how you go Unreal... I saw on a thread a couple of weeks ago (not sure exactly which one now because there's so many of these "bad battery" threads) that someone had said that their phone lasted more than three days with minimal use.. and noone believed him! lol
How strange, I was about to make a similar thread. I had just gotten 3 and a half days out of my battery earlier tonight, no connection to charger since friday night. Minimal use of course, few phone calls and general tinkering, but still impressed with the standby. It was at 1% battery left so time to charge her up again. I charged my phone till the 100% alert came up, then charged it for another 45 minutes as I heard it stops it dropping immediately to 95% as some others have experienced. I've experienced similar too.
So after unplugging it, I pressed the power button to turn the screen off and haven't touched the phone till just now, about 6 and a half hours later. I pressed the power button and battery widget shows me 98% on the battery. If i was to leave the phone completely in standby and not use it, at about 1% drain per 3 and a quarter hours, that's about 13 and a half days standby!
I'm on 2.3.3 btw.
2-3% overnight drain is along the lines of what I get with KE2 and KF3. Data off, 2G. I get about 20-30% of drain a day, 30 mins usage, 30 mins talk.
I get great battery life on mine, although I have not made a valid experiment using quatitative data
Hopefully, this will be the NEW TREND for all the Android Gingerbread dual core phones.

We have one guy who went five days supposedly. The majority of posts in that thread are just like ours, a combination of moaning and pleased. It all comes down to how the phone is used and what's loaded on it.

Im very happy with battery life. Froze a couple of apps and I was good to go.
First phone I've had that didn't need to.be flashed on a daily basis.
I think anyone that's needs more than a day from a single charge needs a blackberry or a home to charge daily.

I have owned a lot of androids and my sgs2 has the best battery life.
I guess you think it's ok, probably because coming from another android phone, it is.
For me is a pain, every half day have to think about charging, my whole usage of this phone although brilliant, has been taken over by thoughts of how I'm going to next get it charged aposed to what I want to do with my phone.
Something I didn't expect was just how much this phone discharges whilst playing music with the screen off.

Im not impressed, it just met my expectation coming from an SGS1, but the first one impressed me so ergo Im also impressed on the SGS2
I have had this phone since pretty much near release date. I have been and still am very impressed,by the battery life.
I'm currently on KG1 2.3.4, but since before this past Saturday I was always on 2.3.3 (KE2). Even on 2.3.3 with the AOS bug I was still very happy with battery life.
Now with KG2 out, I'm sure ill be even way more impressed.
I love this phone, and I have been a religous iphone user previously too!

KG1: during 4 days ( no drain at all)
KG2: during one night
I must agree, this is my 3rd Android phone (out of a total of 37 phones since 1990) and it's by far the best battery of any smart phone.
My best battery usage is 3 days 13 hours with 25% battery left. That was with wifi on all the time, over an hour of screen time (I was working at home, so no need to play with the phone) and over an hour of phone calls. I'm sure it would have reached 5 days. BTW, I'm running 5 pages of widgets, firefiles wallpaper and GMail is updating all the time.
During the 3 days time I switched off 3G as this is the biggest battery drainer I have seen. I live in a 40 floor tower which is made of thick concrete and the 3G signal in my home office is terrible, the phone is constantly hunting for 3G. When I'm at home, I don't need 3G as I'm using Wifi.
How's the battery life on the HTC Radar compared to the Lumia 710? if anyone have had hands on experience, that would be appreciated.
I am coming from a Nexus S, will I see an improvement with the Radar?
Thanks!
Best battery life of any smartphone I have ever used.
And I have used :
Toshiba TG01
HTC HD2
HTC Desire
Galaxy S
You will definitely notice the difference.
I've had quite a few Android phones as well as WM6.5 and one WP7 phone - this phone is showing the absolute best battery life out of ANY of them. I'm easily going 24 hours without charging.
Heavy use, sync on, no auto brightness, wifi sharing... Lasts at least 24 hours. Usually dies on 35 hours of use. I carry my charger everywhere, so I use it all the way.
Great, Thanks guys. It's very encouraging to know that this phone can last nearly/over 24 hours. My battery life on my Nexus S can only last 12 hours with brightness set low, background data ON, and 3G (medium-usage). Tired of charging my phone twice per day. Good to know that a single charge on this phone will last me an entire work day.

4G actually... I keep the WiFi turned on when I am at work (8 hours a day) and at home though.
1 day 15 hours since last charge.
11 hours remaining.
20% left.
Dude this phone has the best battery life I have ever seen. And the only battery saver that I have ever seen actually work too!
OMG If you turn off "As items arrive" and set it to "15 min" in the email settings it does WONDERS for battery life... lol... New discovery for me
Does turning the automatic brightness option on save battery life compared to leaving it at the medium setting?
Thanks!

Wow nice stats. Were you using the battery saving feature the entire time?
the best battery smartphone i ever used, no problem for 24h with 3G on all time, 2 email accounts, bluetooth on aprox 8 hours, 1-2 h of voice calls, 10-20 sms, 40-50 emails, twitter, facebook from time to time..... best ever for me.... and i own a lot of phones... but i always go back to the radar.
Best battery life really for a smartphone (even if it is a little bit dumb ;-). I am charging it every 4th day!!!
Wifi is ON all the time, phone is minimally used actually (it is at home all the time and I have very poor NW service at home). I just use it to take pics/videos of my kid (camera is great in daylight, relatively poor in dark) and to play some games/install apps or to just generally scroll around. Maybe screen in ON for about 2 hours during the 4 days in between charges. Also few SMS sent/received. Also one hotmail acc and one X-Box account configured and syncing. No FB on this phone yet. Brightness is set to Auto (b default not in battery saver mode). This phone was mainly bought for camera!
My primary phone is the HTC Sensation. In comparison, I need to recharge it every night. At best, if I keep wifi off then can make it to second day (best I ever managed on Sensation was almost 2 days). Have stopped bothering about battery life on Sensation now! I can afford to recharge it every night. Bought Sensation mainly for the gorgeous 4.3 inch screen (good for navigation and browsing).
Previously have also used HTC Touch Diamond. It used to give me 2 days of regular use (without any use it would go on for 3 days). I am not a heavy user actually.

what is dumb about what i said???
that battery stats or usage stats? the phone is actually used by my wife who uses it only when we go out. At home we have a landline connection which is very cheap to use compared to a mobile. She is not working so is at home most of the time. she is not a geek (is a doctor actually) and doesnt have FB page (she finds FB too technical!!!). The phone indeed gives us 4 days of minimalistic use (the use is either taking pics of our kid or me playing with it!) right now the battery stats say 39% charge remaining, time since last charge 2 days 6 hours and still can go for 1d9h! If you dont want to believe that be my guest.

Oh I get it. Well the OS is a bit dumb really. Some simple and useful features missing and the Zune dependency. But the dumbest of the lot is this feature whereby the phone automatically switches off wifi to save battery when the phone goes to standby! So if you started downloading any app and while download if phone goes to standby then the download fails and you need to restart from the beginning again! Its irksome coz this means to download you need to keep the screen on. I found it dumb really!

I'm just amazed at the battery life on this thing... I've been going for 2 days straight and haven't plugged in yet. It's low (though I can't tell how low, but the meter is pretty thin), but I'm trying to see how long before I get some sort of "plug your phone in!" warning.
One caveat, I have a strong wifi signal at home, which is where I was for the entire weekend - so that obviously helps. But still...
I have to say this is a VERY impressive phone. Battery life is spectacular compared to any single android phone I've ever used. Any android phone I've used would die around 8 hours of moderate usage, and with this Radar it can last practically the entire day.
The simplicity of the phone does leave a bit to be desired, but I'll take it when the phone can last an entire day without worrying about the battery life. More apps will come in due time.
Hello Group,
At what battery drainage amount to you connect your LGV30 to a charger?? I got mine last weekend and to me the charge is decent but not great for being new at least to what I have been used to.
I use the charge cable that came in the LGV30 box and I also use my daughters wireless charger that she got for her Samsung Galaxy 8 since she doesn't use it and they both work great.
I generally charge it when it gets around 50-60% I dont know why but I cant stand my phone to ever get low even though certainly it will at times
Thanks, Jake

Are you talking about the speed of charge? For me the battery is so good I don't even look at it. At the end of the day, I put it on my slow wireless charger, and take it off in the morning when I go to work. Can't remember the last time I used the wired charger that came with the phone, but I thought it was super fast.
I normally plug in around 3%. Even though I know that's a bit low.
Here's todays battery usage.
I've been leaving high accuracy GPS on which is why my battery drains so quickly...
But I used my phone to stream music all night at work with GPM.

Hey Group,
Good news, well I took my phone back to AT&T (they suck) and trying to explain that there is something wrong with the battery on a 1 week old new phone with one of the mindless helpers there is like trying to pick the correct 6 numbers on a lottery ticket.
I could tell pretty much as soon I I had brought it home (the bad one) but I decide to wait a week and give it time to see it get better even did the Oreo update. So anyway the young lady tells me that its me and I must have to many apps working in the background, I tell her, thanks but I dont have anymore then I always run and I basically use it for social media and some web surfing and I rarely do any games on it as I am a hard core computer gamer.
She again tells me that OH! you must have to many apps running in the background, I'm like (sigh) so I explained what I had just typed and so we go back and forth and she did not stop telling me about the apps in the background. I was going to get the Galaxy s9+ because I didnt want to deal with these jokers anymore but I decided to stick with my LGV30.
So now she tells me that the manager says I can just swap it out for another one if it passes their battery diagnostic test first, I said WHAT? so again I tell her from last night until this morning (about 5 hrs) when not being used it dropped almost 30% charge.
and of course it failed their "State of the Art" diagnostic test so I had to fork over another $45.oo to complete the deal but these phone is doing great.....theres more but this is the short version! btw, ATT&T is the DEVIL

I try to never fully charge or discharge. High of 80-90% ... low of 20% or so ....
Best battery life I've had so far on a phone.
I thought a few hours ago the LG V30 Plus, i notice that the battery drain so fast. i'm really worried i spent so much money on this. I also read that the battery drain fast at frist days can come from proccess things or updates.
but i didn't update anything yet.
My question is: did you guys experience the same thing?
Thanks
Which version you have update 8.0 and turn off always on display option
We'll to make your battery last you need either a good rom or use apps like (greenify or L speed) because my battery was draining fast but using L speed last way longer
The V30 battery lasts forever ... find what app is dragging you down and remove it.

Right. If you've got high drain then you have a rogue app.
I have had the chance to use two V30 H932s -- the one that @R800x_user loaned me to figure out root, and the one that I bought from eBay to continue development.
The loaner was new I assume, and it would hold a charge for *days*. The one I got from eBay (which I am returning due to this) will lose 25% overnight (6 to 7 hours).
Both phones were bone stock v20k, and both rooted -- they are identical. When I say bone stock, I mean literally I installed nothing else on either phone.
The only thing I can guess is that someone fried the battery on the one I got from eBay. Every battery app that I have installed all say that it is 100% health (3300 mAh), but something is different.
My V20, which is loaded with crap, loses maybe 2 to 3% overnight.

I have had the chance to use two V30 H932s -- the one that @R800x_user loaned me to figure out root, and the one that I bought from eBay to continue development.

Its almost been a year since i first got it. Holding up real good ?
Mines almost a year old now as well. After root, the memory usage seems to be better via the LG app and battery needs charged roughly every two days. That's with AOD and couple hours of wifi usage every day.
