But touchwiz isn't.
kinetic scrolling is in MIUI and Sense roms, and will be part of Gingerbread.

Yea and coding it without Samsung's source is impossible. Right? No..
It's in MIUI, too. Doesn't seem to have much to do with Touchwiz... and I'm sure there is a way to extract it from a Galaxy or MIUI ROM.

Guys, all we are extracting from the touchwiz ui is the idea of this kinetic scrolling/bounce effect. We have enough skilled developers to accomplish such a task, look at the status bar controls implemented in cm.
Idea comes from touchwiz (closed source) -> Coded into cm/aosp (open source)
At least the MIUI developers know how to do it, but who are they? And aren't there lots of other developers here who have an idea?
It can't be that hard, probably just a few lines of additional code in ListView or ScrollView?
And maybe we don't even have to write any code and just copy over some framework files from a Galaxy or MIUI ROM?
Who knows which files contain the ListView?
UPDATE: The latest CyanogenMod versions have the feature implemented!
I'm glad they're working together with the MIUI developers now.

The "overscrolling" effect in CM is really bad. Very tacky and feels weird. Not at all like the smooth effect on MIUI/Sense/iPhone.
It seems to me like it's the same as in MIUI, actually. I agree that it's not as good as on the Galaxy S or iPhone.
Better than nothing, though. They'll probably improve it in the future.

This.
The features the Cyanogenmod team (power controls in the notification window, and kinetic scrolling, specifically) used from MIUI aren't exact replicas, and it shows. I'm sure they weren't trying to exactly copy them.. it simply just isn't as aesthetically pleasing.

CM's effect is like a ball or yo-yo bouncing up and down.. MIUI's effect is nice and smooth.
IMO I prefer Android's "hard stop" to kinetic scrolling.

While it doesn't REALLY matter, I know that my friend Pedlar was coding that WAY before the MIUI ROMs ever showed up. Just sucks he couldn't get it out first, lol. Oh well. I know this post is super old, haha.
Alright ladies and gentlemen, I am glad to finally bring you the Evervolv series of ROM's. This is an alpha build, however most, if not all items should be working. I'm going to keep this post vague and update it when the rom becomes beta worthy.
This rom would not be possible without the CM team, so i give them props any time i can.

Everything should be working as of now (with the small except to the Brightness widget, it's functionality is there... but the UI updating is not just yet). The Nexus One i have has no sim card, so i can't test everything. However English is the main supported language, if google hasn't added the language support, i haven't either. This means certain apps will have no support at all (i.e. Evervolv Settings). If there is someone that would like to contribue the efforts to languages, we'd be more than happy to have you aboard.

Q&A
Is this CM7?
No, this is a build that started from AOSP. However, some of the fixes and few features have been derived from the CyanogenMod Team, including the CM kernel.
How social is the evervolv team?
You can join us on IRC, irc.freenode.net #evervolv. Or follow myself and the status of Evervolv @preludedrew on twitter.

Nice, I am flashing now and will check it out.
Looks good and feels good aswell, but trackballwake is needed.
Why not. I haven't tried anything Gingerbread yet (been faithful to Rod's MIUI the last few months).
I'll download and check it out!

agree with this... this rom already support app2sd??
Liking so far. Its a breath of fresh air. Just something nice and new, really smooth and responsive.
It appears a2sd is not there? Maybe I'm wrong but under settings it said ext (unavailable).
Also, its a little eh that I can't change the dock settings (I know I can use LauncherPro and I probably will but I was trying to avoid that) because I use Chomp and DolphinHD so those dock shortcuts are useless.
Screen off animation is SWEET and boot animation is stellar.
Overall, seems very solid for a first release. I'll stick with it for now, assuming camera and camcorder work (I'm headed out to Sea World with the wife and son today/tomorrow so I need a functioning camera).
Great job and great release. I'll report back more Monday night when I get home and have used it for a few days.

Great rom. I love the font and bootanimation. Wish the rom had a2sd.

OK, so after a few days use I'm noticing a few things.
Battery life seems to be average, nothing special. I hardly used it at all as I was on a small vacation (didn't make any phone calls, hardly text at all, didn't take pictures, surfed the web very very lightly) and my battery would very quickly drop to the 80's in % and beyond. Although, this could possibly be associated to my next thing.
When charging, light on top is green (fully charged) when it hits 90% battery. It does continue charging to 100% but I found that very odd that it turns green to indicate full when its at 90%...
As stated, the font is very nice too. Everything overall seems smooth, especially for a first release. I'd be nice to see new releases soon, of course with a change log etc.
Looking forward to see what is to come.
As the title says, i'd like to know, if there's any way to get notified if they have an update for the preview.
Or any page which will contain update notes in the future.
Mostly because i'd really like to use it, play with it and try some programming for it.
the problem is, i only got the nexus, so i have no spare phone.
(even though phone and sms is working, without music I can't live and no, i won't buy an extra mp3 player)
Anyways, would be great if anyone knows a way to get notified.
Else i'd suggest we may start an update thread here(?)
that way i could subscribe to that and look into it when I see it gets 10 pages per hour or so, lol

Hello,
A Mobile version of the Ubuntu "Update Manager"/"Software Upgrader" will be in the works soon, and definitely be done prior to release. So far, the only thing close to a changelog that I have been able to find is on their "Phablet" site. I have documented the details here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38547205&postcount=19

I have some doubts mich,
First, will we see any importante change when moving to Saucy in ubuntu touch?
Second, when I check milestone dates release here https://launchpad.net/ubuntu-touch-preview/+milestones I see that they dont follow these dates, no one has been "released". I have no clear how different fixes commited are realeased, could you explain it a bit?
Thanks man!

Those are milestones, not release dates. Milestones are what we use to target work items. It doesn't mean we're going to tag a 13.06 release image, it just means those are the work items we hope to have done and in the daily images by the end of June (or whichever month the milestone is for). The changelog I posted is the best way to see what is changing between each of the builds.

Hey, i really appreciate all the functions in your rom and I really like hover and the floating window functionality. But SlimKat recently released a new UI for the recents window, which would also fit really well to Paranoid Android. Here is a YouTube-Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dKMjpFgWH58
It's really nice because it doens't freeze the current app and doesn't take up the whole screen. Also, it displays more apps than the AOSP version of the recent apps screen because you are able to dismiss the app content.
I think it would work pretty well with the Hover funtionality, because it makes opening an app in floating window much more easy and also comfortable.
Is there any possibility to include this or a similar function to your rom soon?

If we let the community decide every feature we would just be another kang ROM...
Most development teams do this by the way. Develop a new feature in private until the point where it is publicly show able. Not sure what you would expect.
If we showed our ideas publicly every time we would never get a feature out before someone kanged it.

But we're not talking about something new, just settings/modification to the current pie control system. I totally understand that you don't want others stealing your cool ideas but in the post prior to this one it's sound more like 'We don't care, we just do what we like' mindset. Oh well I trust you guys will make something nice out of it, as I've been being seeing in the short period I've used PA.

From the rumors I've heard, it will be a stock Android build with some ZTE customizations such as Dolby Atmos among others and will be released around April, possibly a little before depending on how the testing goes. The build was being referred to as Stock UI+, so if they stick to the stock build and then just add a few of their modifications such as Dolby etc, I think we will have a nice rom to enjoy. I'm hoping what I've heard comes to fruition, and so far it seems to be. I agree that it would be nice if ZTE did ramp it up to 8.1 so the build would be as current as possible, and would also like for it to have the newest security patch when released and not something a month old.
