Open notepad, copy and paste the OP's code. Replace the OP's Venue 7 file names with the appropriate Venue 8 file names. Save the file as .bat extension. Run the .bat file you just created.
Use the Venue 8 3830 image files from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2681783
P.S. I love JB on this tablet. It runs flawless unlike KK.

Sorry, I still don't get it. I've tried to copy the code, replace the line with Venue 7 with Venue 8 and save it as .bat file then run it as admin but it says that fastboot is not recognized. Another thing that I don't get is after installing the ADB driver in my PC, and connecting the USB cable to my tablet, what's the next step? I really appreciate if you can help me. Thanks

Will this work for my Venue 7 hspa+?

Thank you! I spent hours researching how to downgrade my Venue 8 3830 to Jelly Bean until I ran into this thread. The tablet has strange problems on Kit Kat (e.g. random black boxes and the screen turning black while in use), so it's nice to finally be back on Jelly Bean. :good:

Hello guys,
Let me preface this with the fact that I have been searching this forum for the past hour and could not find anything pertinent for my situation.
I've updated to the latest GSM OTA (the Vodafone EU one) and all was great, decided to reboot my phone and got into a bootloop. I don't have a recovery to boot from and going to be short on battery soon.
The way I see it, I'm stuck with a bricked phone until the RSD package for the OTA is released. Is that correct? am I missing anything?
Can anyone point me to a relevant thread where I can catch a break?
Cheers!

How did you fixed it?
Sent from my XT910 using xda premium
Please tell us how you fixed this, i have same problem but i already screwed it up more by trying to flash back to ics after i was stuck at boot on JB vodafone. Now i have bricked phone and i wait for Fastboot files, which we dont know when will come out
Got the same problem here
Alright, here goes.
I am not responsible to whatever happens to your phones. This process is described for the Vodafone OTA.
Also, you will lose root
I'm guessing your phones are in a constant bootloop right about now. If they are, you have to make sure you still have some battery left so that on AP Fastboot it shows battery OK. If you don't, follow the guides here to get more juice or get a 'factory cable' and charge your phone.
To download:
- Fastboot from here: http://dfiles.eu/files/bih3tmg7b
- OTA kernel (here: http://d-h.st/xat )
- The whole OTA here ON YOUR SDCARD
- original ICS RSD Image here
Process:
Extract the fastboot somewhere accessible like c:/fastboot
Extract the kernel and the original ICS files on your desktop
Copy the OTA kernel (boot_3.0.8-g7198280) to your c:/fastboot folder
Copy 'system_signed' from the original ICS archive to your fastboot folder
Open the command prompt (search for cmd.exe in your programs)
Navigate to c:/fastboot (use "cd .." to excape a folder and "dir" to list the files in a folder )
Go to AP fastboot on your phpne and do the following from the command prompt:
fastboot flash boot boot_3.0.8-g7198280.img
fastboot flash system system_signed
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Now restart your phone and enter recovery the normal way volUp+volDown + power button then select Recovery, then volUp+volDown to see the menu.
Do a factory reset
Flash the OTA (that should be on your card)
Reboot
Ta-da!
If after the whole process you get a flash failure when rebooting your phone, use this guide to get rid of that: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1634223
If this helped you, please show the 'Thanks' button some love. Also, post here if you run into trouble, DO NOT PM!

That's weird. Prolly the flash was messed up somewhere..
Try this before "fastboot flash boot boot_3.0.8-g7198280.img":
extract recovery_signed and allow-mbmloader-flashing-mbm.bin from the ICS folder and put them into the fastboot folder
do this
fastboot flash mbm allow-mbmloader-flashing-mbm.bin
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot flash recovery recovery_signed
Let me know if that works

For your information, I managed to unbrick my phone. Problem seemed to be my CID.IMG. After erasing it, I could enter recovery and installl JB from ext-sdcard. Now I have to use BP Tools tools to boot, because as soon as I restore CID, the device doesn't boot.
Really strange, because my phone is actually from Europe (d/a/ch), Switzerland. Maybe it's due to the fact that I switched to the chinese JB Ota leak before updating to the EU leak.
PLEASE HELP ,i have a sony xperia z ultra g.p.e with 4.4.4 rooted and a locked bootloader which i managed to delete a system file and immediately started boot looping the boot animation.
I can still get into the stock recovery.
I've searched everywhere and all i see is instruction for unlocked bootloader .
I've read that i can't flash an ftf with a locked boot loader, please help
i have a macbook but also have access to a windows comp
please if anyone can help me with step by step instruction to bring the phone back to a working state i would forever be thankful.

If you do have a GPe DO NOT FLASH AN FTF it will result in a permanent hard brick. Look for DooMLoRD's return to stock thread in GPe development section, it will return you to stock 4.4.2 and then you can let it update from there.
Thank you I will give that a try and post back results

I must apologize for giving out bad advice. Stock recovery will not allow flashing older firmware.
I think what may be possible is flashing the 4.4.4 system IMG with fastboot. Maybe @egzthunder1 or @blueether will be nice enough to offer some better advice.

Is it bootlooping or just stuck?
You should be able to flash a 4.4.4 system image
Instructions would be:

Extract the system_4.4.4.img
Code:
fastboot flash system <path_to_system_4.4.4.img>

Again I apologize for posting without refreshing my memory by looking up the older threads. There was two issues with my first post.
1. Stock recovery will not allow flashing older firmware as I mentioned.
2. There is an edited ota zip but it needs to be flashed with custom recovery, which I believe can only be used with an unlocked bootloader.
Hopefully fastboot flashing the system img does the trick.

"remote:command not allowed" is probably because of the locked BootLoader, I thought that may happen
Do you know what the fole you deleted was? you may be able to adb push it back onto the system if the GPe boots far enough.
The only other options I can think of are:
Ask Sony for a singed update.zip of the full 4.4.4 (no patch files) so it can be flashed by the stock recovery
Or use adb to do an oem unlock* - but this will wipe DRM keys and render the camera without auto focus
* You could try and run TA backup, but I think it will fail to gain root to do the back up... can you get shell access to the device? "adb shell"
Gonna suggest something off the left field, but if you have access to stock recovery... Have you tried doing a full wipe? I mean, unless ypu royally messed something up elsewhere, flashing system would give you the same end result as a full wipe.
Hopefully this helps.

Some things I am wondering.
1. Can 5.0 update be flashed in stock recovery or would.it fail due to missing files?
2. Can a kernel with recovery be hotbooted to flash the edited 4.4.2 ota?
3. Can the 4.4.4 system img be flashed with flashtool?
4. Is there a fastboot command similar to "adb devices" that will confirm it is connected properly?
I swear that I had the same error trying to return GPe to stock using WIN 8.1 laptop, on WIN 7 desktop it worked fine.

1. Yes it can but you need to place the zip file in a folder that recovery will recognize (/cache or /sd)
2. Technically yes. However, you still need to be unlocked for that AFAIK.
3. I don't see why not
4. Flashtool will confirm if you have a properly connected devices
There are two rules in life for being successful:
1. Never reveal everything you know;
2.
I seemed to have either bricked my 7840 or at the least it is stuck in a bootloop. It will startup with the Intel Inside logo and then just keep restarting over and over again. I can't get the recovery screen or anything. I've tried a few guides to unbricking on here but it doesn't stay on long enough to have files written to it.
Anyone have any advice on what I need to do?

If you can stay on fastboot mode (power button+volume down), theoretically you can unbrick the device.
I actually did try that yesterday but I'll fiddle with it more over the weekend. Thanks!
bootloop help and reference links for Dell 7840 files
brettOutlaw or Wonglynn2004,
Did you have much success fixing the boot-loop? I was able to get my tablet rooted with social design concepts' droidboot files (1,2,3) and to unlock the bootloader, but managed to screw up my system to the dell boot-loop screen, by either installing busybox or erasing the wrong partition when trying to use Aparted on a 64gb card to get ext4.. At this point I still had access to CWM tethered.
I made it worse after flashing the ..BB.XML file below and I saw the blue USB image briefly, but still have fastboot. Fastboot screen details listed below as well as links to files and thread references. I hope I got all the references & source credit correct.
After using the flash_DDO_BB.xml to reset, and erasing for a clean start I no longer can get CMW tethered to work. The T4 Trigger has some write error / access problem. With fastboot I hope I can get this working again with some minimal help here. I am using an older Toshiba Win8 tablet and not sure about getting ADB fully setup. I used the Minimal ADB -Fastboot installer to fix an older TF700 (old asus transformer).
There were some suggestions for using dd to copy from the SD card to the System partition, but I don't know if ADB will work, or just fastboot commands in the current condition.
Does anyone have time for step by step instructions either using the Phone flash tool, or if I have to setup ADB and use dd to copy the boot.img and system.img?
I have the link at the end for someone with success using DD to copy from SD to the system partition. Thank you for any help or suggestions between the multiple sources below or order for applying Phone flash files.

Use Minimal ADB-Fastboot installer for boot.img.
I have tested and working.
Thank you,
I am stuck at 5.02. I get the OTA notice, but on reboot it hangs or does not load. After normal rebooting, it will ask to download the OTA again.
I went through a few combinations of droid boot 501, 502 and 5.1. At one point I had
'Encryption failed", but going back to the older droid boot worked. I have the OTA.zip, but I am not sure if it is possible to dd the sys.dat. An older thread said no go.

Have you been able to get to 5.1 from dd an older system.img? I am not sure if I need to do a deeper formatting than enzymeyllw's post.
I see they replied to just flash the OTA in CWM. I will unroot and try that again. I don't remember the exact error code.

Hello People !!!
Want to return your OP2 to 100% Stock Factory Image or have you soft bricked OP2 and nothing except fastboot works or you need OxygenOS fastboot images ? This is the thread for you !!
Download Fastboot Image from here :- https://mega.nz/#!itR00ZaI!gJ6T0jgqfZaIF9NLlCzWj4LIGMMhCw8m8owFdeB_2B4
Extract the Zip in a folder .
Boot the phone into fastboot.
Run the batch file.
Done.
This method WILL NOT WIPE DATA
If you want to wipe data to,flash userdata.img from here :- https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347833307
Use command
fastboot flash userdata userdata_64.img

You need the latest adb/fastboot package to be successful. For that,do this :-
Download the full Android SDK here (scroll to the bottom of the page>DOWNLOAD FOR OTHER PLATFORMS>SDK Tools Only)
Extract the zip and place the android-sdk-windows folder on your desktop.
Go into the android-sdk-windows folder and run SDK Manager.exe. Install the following packages (there are a total of 4 packages):-
Tools > Android SDK Tools, Android SDK Platform-tools- Extras > Android Support Library, Google USB Driver
Click to collapse
Go back into the android-sdk-windows directory, and you should see a new folder named platform-tools. If you don't see this new folder, repeat the step above.

i've got the exact same problem. Let me guess: your bootloader is locked?
anyways, try this: press POWER + VOLUME UP until you're in fastboot mode. connect the OP2 to your PC and execute the command 'fastboot continue' in a cmd window. if not, repeat until it works. your phone should boot like normal, you can't restart or shutdown though, since you'll be stuck in the same loop again.
at least that's my problem. can't flash anything since bootloader is locked, ADB does work fine though, as long as the phone is running.
really sucks to need a PC everytime you want to power on your phone.. if anyone can help, i'd gladly appreciate it

Please note that on the fastboot userdata command you are missing a letter. You have "fastboot flash userdata userdata_64.img" and it should be fastboot flash userdata userdata_64G.img. Great job by the way, used it to reset the OP2 and works great.

Downgraded To 6.01, Installed Twrp, Magisk, Still Having Same Issues, Flashing An Update Zip W/a Modded Updater Script Via Twrp Caused A Soft Bricked Phone, It Never Completed The Flash, Twrp Backup Didnt Work, Factory Reset A No Go, Couldn't Manually Flash Stock Rom As Adb Sideload Always Gave Errors, Fastboot System images Didnt Help For One Reason Or Another, Phone Was Just Bootlooping Back To The Unlocked Bootloader Menu.

What do u mean by raw. In what format is it in.
I've converted oreo stock firmware .dat files to .img files but I can't test them as I don't have the phone. My friend seems happy on nougat and I don't think he'll let me flash it on his phone.
I haven't tried dl-ing official stock and seeing if phone will see it as an update to manually self install via nougat recovery or maybe to try adb sideload again.

Thank you
I can't update to Oreo via ota... do you know why?
the op here. lol, my friend dropped the phone and now its dead screen, no display/no touch but phone still works.
he doesnt want to get a screen for it as it will cost almost as much as he paid for it.......so its mine now.
been flashing stuff to it, gave it a very hard soft brick, still dealing with that.
my goal was to run it remotely but get adb/usb debugging enabled and get pc trusted by phone. i thought he wanted to sell it as is but decided to give to me to do whatever i want to it
got out of the hard soft brick, installed twrp, use twrp cli, twrp backups and restore, rooted w/magisk, installed 6.0.1 (fluked it), 7.11 using my method above with the extra erase commands, removed frp, got adb /usb debugging enabled and device adb authorized by hacking , got vysor, a remote control mirroring app running, all without a working screen.
i'll write up a tut for any1 else that needs help. fyi, weak screen if dropped even short distance, but he had no cover, but pretty to hard to brick it, imo, ymmv
