Did you get the message: Magic Value Mismatch:-.-.-.-.-.-?!
After flashing a new recovery it happens sometimes.
GREEN ZONE
Are you able to go to the recocery menu(power + vol up)? If not, go to BLUE ZONE. If yes, follow these steps
1. check whether you have copied your rom as "update.zip" to your SD card's root directory
2. Go to recovery menu and install update.zip
BLUE ZONE
You may did something wrong while flashing a new recovery. Here is the right method:
1. go back to fastboot mode(power+power+power+vol up) and type these commands on your PC
2. fastboot erase userdata
3. fastboot erase system
4. fastboot erase cache
5. fastboot erase linux
6. fastboot erase recovery
7. fastboot flash recovery recovery.img (change path, if recovery.img is not in the same directory as fastboot.exe)
8. fastboot reboot
Are you able now to go to the recovery menu? If yes, go to GREEN ZONE and follow steps. If not, go to ORANGE ZONE.
ORANGE ZONE
Are able to unpack the update.zip and find the system.img and boot.img files? If not, then go to RED ZONE. If yes, copy these 2 files to the directory where the fastboot.exe is, run these commands:
1. fastboot erase recovery
2. fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
3. fastboot -w
4. fastboot erase linux
5. fastboot erase system
6. fastboot flash system system.img
7. fastboot flash linux boot.img
8. fastboot reboot
ROM is installed. Enjoy it!
RED ZONE
Make sure, that you copied the same recovery.img to fastboot folder, that you had flashed before to your tablet.
Type this command in recovery mode:
1. fastboot boot recovery.img
This command will run the recovery from your PC. After the recovery menu is booted, go to GREEN ZONE and enjoy your ROM!
If this was helpful to you, please do not hesitate to click on Thanks!
Lol, nice to see my post copy/pasted without any links indicated. Anyway, I hope It's helpful for ppl.
Tried following these steps, however, I'm still getting this error... followed this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1470823
installed recovery successfully (via fastboot), and update seems to install fine, until I reboot and get the "Magic Value Mismatch" again..
Any ideas?

So you installed the recovery via fastboot. Did you manage to boot into recovery mode?
I had that issue, that I couldn't boot into recovery mod from my Folio, by pressing power+Up button. Thats why I added the RED ZONE method. Its like booting recovery from your PC. (fastboot boot recovery.img). All the times I wanna upgrade my current ROM, I have to do this step, because the power+up does not work, and the Folio skips booting in recovery and wanna do normal booting. However there is no Rom installed on machine, so I get the magic value mismatch message.
So try to boot recovery from your PC, but be sure you have copied to your fastboot folder the same recovery, that you flashed onto the tablet.
I hope it was helpful. If something is not clear, feel free to ask.
Hi there, thanks for the answer.
I am able to install recovery images via fastboot.
Device is showing up as a question mark with >fastboot devices
but recovery installs fine. CWM gives a series of e: can't opne/mount /cache errors.
Foliomod 1.4 installs no problem, thanks to the method here

Are you able to wipe cache from recovery? And what else errors are listed?
One more thing, try to flash your boot.img and system.img via fastboot as written above.
If I follow this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1458876
and let it install cwm v 3, I get the cache error and cannot wipe or mount via recovery.
If I follow the ICS thread, and flash the new cwm v5 via fastboot, I don't get the cache error, but the rom simply won't start. If I open the package, there is a boot.img, but not a system.img, just a system folder...
I could try flashing boot.img, but I don't see how that could help

Well just to see it clear. So you are able to install Foliomod 1.4, so your Internal storage is not broken.
When I get home, I will check the system folder of ICS rom. There are some method to create system.img from an unpacked folder...
So, in CWM 5.5.0.4 you manage to install Zip from SD card, ROM and GAPPS as well, but the Rom does not boot?!
yup, that's exactly it.
Haven't tried installing Gapps since I can't even get the rom to boot.
I have a perfectly working tablet with foliomod 1.4, and I did get honeycomb to run but some apps crashed so I reverted back to foliomod.
with CWM CWM 5.5.0.4 everything seems to work great, except at reboot, nothing happens (somehow, I no longer even get the magic value mismatch)
------------------
PS. not sure if this is at all relevant, but I cannot fastboot from win7, I'm fastbooting in either ubuntu or xp via VirtualBox, and the device, when calling >fastboot devices shows up as ?????????? (ubuntu) and ? (xp)... :\

Tried 3 and 4, didn't bother trying earlier ones, as it seems the latest ones work for most users

Hmmm strange. I ask it for you on developers forum. What you can still do, is to check the steps, that you did them correctly. In most of the cases users forget something, or do some steps incorrectly.
Try to erase userdata, cache, system, linux and recovery in fastboot. You mentioned you had problem with fastboot under Win7. Problem may occur, in case of not proper erasing.
Thanks, I'll give it another try tonight.
Fastboot in win7 is simply not seeing the device. It shows up in XP and Ubuntu, but as "??????" - not sure if that could be a symptom.
I'll post a reply as soon as I've tried, and let you know how it went.

For me it works perfectly on Win7. After Installing SDK and JDK the in the devicemanager it is shown as an Unknown device. Simply add the driver manually to it.
Download driver from attachment.
Copy it to SDK\USB_driver folder
That works for me. After its done, the Folio is shown as "Fastboot" in device manager. But connect the tablet in fastboot mode to your PC before you add driver manually to it.
Thanks for that.
Tried it, still not working in win7. It shows up correctly in device manager, but fastboot itself just doesn't want to see it...
I've attached a screenshot for you
EDIT: screenshot gets resized, but it shows device manager listing
NVIDIA Android Fastboot Device
and a terminal with fastboot not seeing the device

When You have win7, You have run the console as admin!
Or copy the complete Fastboot folder to another Destination like c:\temp...
Thanks stefannsv, tried it, still not showing...
But I can access fastboot on another platform, so I assume it's not an issue, I can just switch over to another OS to flash
no go, followed both this original post (tried all steps except orange, cause the rom I'm trying to install has a system folder, not a system.img)
Last method I tried was:
1) boot into fastboot
2) boot cwm-recovery-5.5.0.4.img directly from PC
3) wipe data/factory reset
4) wipe cache partition
5) install zip from SD card and chose the alpha 4 release
installing update...
then back to recovery, reboot and voilà... magic value mismatch again (it had disappeared for a while... )
Also, when booting into CWM 3.0.0.5, I get a series of "E: Can't mount/cache/recovery" type errors.. could this be related?
booting directly into recovery from PC doesn't alllow me to install any ROMS, not even foliomod 1.4 which works if using puppet13th's method
Hey everyone,
This is my first time posting to the forums. I have been trying to get everything done without having to ask questions since there are so many all over the place and I can see how it can get tiring trying to help everyone when their may be an answer out there already if you look. However, I have ran into an issue that I can't seem to find much information on. I have the HTC Rezound that is S-On (apparently you need a Linux machine to get S-Off which I don't have. Using Windows 7.) and have been using fastboot to get things done. I have unlocked the bootloader and have installed the 'Amon Ra' recovery and setup Superuser and SU. As far as I know, I have to use ROM's that are S-On friendly (right?) and I chose to try out 'EclipticRez' and later 'Talon'.
As I tried to flash the ROM's through fastboot it fails with the following errors every time and I cannot continue:
archive does not contain android-info.txt
archive does not contain android-product.txt
From what I found is that it may be a bad download of the ROM. Maybe.... But it happened consecutively with two different ROM downloads.
I also read that maybe the recovery wasn't setup, which as far as I know it is. Should I use a different recovery? Everyone usually references to using CWM, which I wouldn't mind using but I couldn't figure out how to get SU access.
Can I just create the files myself? They are only txt files after all.
If anyone can help me with this I will be so grateful! I'm pretty new to this and it has definitely been a fun learning experience for me
Much thanks in advance!

1) Switch to TWRP or CWM for your recovery.
2) You install the rom zip via recovery.
3) You then need to fastboot flash the kernel from the rom zip you downloaded. You don't install the whole rom via fastboot.
To borrow from the CM11 thread.
- Place the boot.img into the platform-tools folder of the Android SDK's install directory.
- Boot to the bootloader.
- Ensure your device is connected to your computer and that your device is now in fastboot mode. This is a white screen and it says fastboot on it.
- Open a Terminal (OSX or Linux) or CMD window (Windows) and cd to the platform-tools directory of the Android SDK's install directory.
- Issue this command to flash the boot.img we placed in the platform-tools folder earlier:
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
- Watch the output of the terminal, it should say something like "sent successfully".
- Finally send this command:
Code:
fastboot reboot
Since you're s-on, you'll need to do this whenever you install a new rom. Using these steps, you can install any rom you want.

also to note....you dont have to install linux to get s-off....if you follow my guide you can do it straight from a live disk rather than installing it....so it wont erase or mess up your windows partition at all
Solved!
Thank you, Mjones, I finally got it! I knew it was much easier than I was making it out to be. I was missing the kernel! Yeah, a crucial part in the process, I know
I first ran CWM and flashed the ROM over and ran the .zip through recovery (which I couldn't understand at first as I could never find it in the directory) but the installer would only go 50% and would fail... makes sense why now lol
I later flashed TWRP and backed up again after recovering from the fail. I flashed over the kernel and voila! So simple... Had to slap myself.
Thanks again! Case solved.
REV3NT3CH, that is sweet!! I have been hoping there is a way to gain s-off with Windows. I have 7 at work and 8.1 (which I can't get anything to work on) at home. I actually have to focus on work today haha so I'll look into the method and try it out tomorrow if I can. Thanks for all of the help.

Did you try this first? (Right from Moto's site)
Perform a factory reset using external keys
1. Power off the phone, press and hold volume down button, press power button
2. Screen will come up with "Fastboot", press Vol down key to cycle through choices until you get "Android Recovery", then press Vol up key
3. Wait for the "triangle ! / Android" screen then go on to step 4
4. Press both Vol up and Vol down key simultaneously. A menu will come up
5. Tap on Vol down key until "wipe data/factory reset" is highlighted, and tap Power key. Another Confirmation screen will come. Tap on Vol down key until coming to Yes and tap Power key
6. After userdata is cleared, the "reboot system now" option will be highlighted by Default. Tap Power key
7. Phone will reboot to initial setup screen.

Qualcomm is harder to flash than MTK that can use SP FlashTool.
on this I use QFIL but keeps "sahara error". I tried searching and try moving firmware file to bin but no Luck. I'm currently trying different version of QFIL Tool.
If it FAILS my only HOPE is to use MUT-QCfire which will Require a "SmartCardReader" Which is a bit pricey and I don't even know if it will work on my device.
Hello,
This is my first android tablet and i love it, but i have bricked it, i was messing around with it and i think i wiped it all, at this moment the device is stuck at the mediapad logo, fastboot mode is working but i can not get into recovery.
I have downloaded the two official stock roms mentioned in this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/hua...rom-official-huawei-mediapad-x1-b007-t2811863 but when i try to do
Code:
fastboot update update.zip
i get the below error:
Code:
archive does not contain 'android-info.txt'
archive does not contain 'android-product.txt'
error: update package has no android-info.txt or android-product.txt]
The zip file contain the dload folder and the update.app file, no .txt files in mention. Any solution to this ?
I have also tried to flash a cwm/twrp recovery (tried many variants) into the device but i can not boot into them (nothing happens, still stuck at the mediapad screen).
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
At this moment i have only fastboot available, what can i do to unbrick the device ?
Thanks alot

Use the standard ROM flashing method by copying the update.app into dload folder onto an external sdcard and reboot your device. This ought to work. If it doesn't you've truly bricked your device by screwing up the bootloader.
The only other way if you've screwed up the bootloader is to perform a bootloader unlock using the tool on 4PDA.ru. Google Translate is rather spotty though.

Sdcard method is the default update method for Huawei. There is no need to mess with any 3-button combo or hardware.
It is the easiest update method I've seen among the major phone companies.
I will post link to the 4pda tool link later as I am at work now.

Just use the normal method of the dload folder.
You have taken a very complex route to solve a simple issue.

Then it is quite possible your download is corrupted. Try downloading again. And I think the recommendation was to use a 4Gb card.

Yes you have to download the correct ROM for your device. 501u is the 3G version.

As far as I know, you downloaded the 501u version. Perhaps the last resort is to enable the CWM to allow ABD sideloading?
Or, you can try this "unlock bootloader" from 4PDA
http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=564429&view=findpost&p=34341371
It seems you just need to run the exe file. You can try this since nothing else works for you.
Appreciate if you report on the success.

I will try the bootloader unlocker when i get home, i have tried 4 official roms for the 3G and 4G and i get this error
http://tinypic.com/usermedia.php?uo=adkBqYNLlttp9d8/5vW/a4h4l5k2TGxc
Can you tell me what does it say ? Also hoq can i re install the stock recovery of the device ? Maybe it will work ? I flashed it and installed wcm.
Update: i have downloaded the bootloader unlocker but its all in Chinese! any help is appreciated.
Update2: The bootloader is already unlocked, when i run
Code:
fastboot oem get-bootinfo
it says unlocked. however the device is not taking any rom that i try to install to it (errors in Chinese). i have extracted the system.img, boot.img and recovery.img from the update.app package, i will try to flash them into the device one by one with fastboot.
FIXED!
So for anyone who ran into the same problem, here is how i fixed it:
1. Downloaded the 7D-501u official stock ROM mentioned in this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/hua...rom-official-huawei-mediapad-x1-b007-t2811863
2. Used Huawei update.app extractor tool from http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2822142&d=1403960391
3. Flashed boot.img, recovery.img and system.img
Code:
fastboot flash recovery RECOVERY.img
fastboot flash system SYSTEM.img
fastboot flash boot BOOT.img
Rebooted and it worked! the bootloader comes unlocked by default (at least for my model). Special thanks for joytest for his help.
Hello. I'm crazy. I deleted stock recovery original for my 7D-503L 4.2.2 (B008). The problem was install the stock recovery 4.4 kit Kat for error. I installed again the rom B008 and anything. Is impossible to find the stock recovery original and one CWM for my device. Somebody can I help me please? Somebody know where lies the stock recovery? I know is independently of the Rom.

fastboot: that's the executable tool
flash: that's the function we want the fastboot tool to perform
recovery: this is the name of the partition we want to flash into. since we are flashing a recovery image, it needs to go to the recovery partition.
recovery.img: this is the name of the actual file to flash. Your file name may be different. Just make sure it matches the actual file name.

I have a bricked (7D-501L).
1 .
I download a ROM «Huawei_MediaPad_X1_7D-501L_V100R001C170B001_Android_4.2_Russia».
I unzip ROM into root sdcard.
I use Huawei update.app extractor tool, and extract from ROM «boot» and «recovery» partitions.
I flashed a «boot» and «recovery» partitions via fastboot (from it ROM).
After, I use the standard ROM flashing method. The device start flashing, but after a few minutes the device reboot.
ROM not installed, the device not start.
2.
I download a ROM OTA_7D-503LV100R002C208B002.
I extracted this ROM, and flashed a BOOT.img, CACHE.img, CUST.img, RECOVERY.img, SYSTEM.img, USERDATA.img partitions via fastboot.
The device started, but after a few minuts my device reboot to black screen FASTBOOT.
What can i do to unbrick the device ?
P.S.: sorry for bad English
how can i make update.zip from update.app?
my device not flashing standard method.
I can flash it from recovery. I need update.zip
Please, help me
Huawei recently shipped update B180.
They advised to unroot the phone first, but I have been stupid and updated with TWRP installed on the second recovery partition (e-recovery?) and the update failed.
My phone now won't boot. I can put it in fastboot/recovery mode and access TWRP, so I guess all I need is a stock ROM.
I cannot find anything useful for Honor 7 with Google, I would like a recent ROM (most recent I found is a B130).
I would also appreciate some advice on how to recover from this boot freeze.
Would flashing a stock ROM with TWRP be enough?
Thank you very much.
I'm kinda pissed since that phone is quite expensive.
You cannot flash a stock rom with TWRP.
You have to flash the stock recovery then a stock rom, using fastboot.
The more recent stock rom available is the B130, unfortunatly.
Have a look at my posts, I have done similar (although I had the normally recovery.img installed) you need to downgrade using the marshmallow downgrade ROM then to the full 121 or 130 ROM after putting the stock recovery back (for the version your phone was on before this happened I assume it was 170 if you were going to 180) once you are back on 130 you can then upgrade up to 180 through the usual process. I have done this a few times and it has been fine whilst experimenting with the device.
The current version of the phone appears to be burned in to it (I think curver.img is doing this inside the UPDATE.APP but I haven't found a way of flashing this file back to the phone to play around with downgrading without the MM downgrade ROM), this I think is what causes it to hang if it has a boot.img and recovery.img that does not match the version the phone thinks it is.
I am in the same boat with @rbuccia.
I can only access fastboot and recovery (twrp).
I also found that I must have something wrong with 3rdmodem because if i wipe form inside twrp I always get an error message on that partition.
Also I have a rom from Kangvip flashable with twrp but veven this has no effect.
I think that we cannot unbrick it without a completely and full stock rom but I think there is no one.
Any idea?
This method should work for the above, first we need to get your device to boot. The following should work... Extract UPDATE.APP from the B180 ROM and then extract boot.img and recovery.img using Huawei Update Extract. Now extract the UPDATE.APP from the full 130 ROM and extract system.img using the Huawei image extractor. Once you have them 3 files, place them in the same folder as your fastboot installation and do the following...
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash system system.img
This should give you a working bootable phone, it will be a mess half 180 for Kernel etc... and the system itself will be 130 but it should boot. Then place the MM downgrade ROM into the dload folder on your SDCARD and run the update process, it will crash at 95% this is fine the phone will boot back up. Now place the UPDADTE.APP from 130 in the dload folder and run the update again, this should flash and give you a fully functioning normal system running version 130, then follow the update process to get back to 180.
The modem will get flashed as part of the 130 update package so hopefully that will resolve that issue for you as well.

Thanks for the tips, but
1. Where can i download the B180 full firmware?
2. I can't access the VOL+ VOL- POWer AKA updater mode, it just bootloops.
Thx
Its on one of the threads at the top of General all the firmwares are there, no you don't need to do the vol+/- thing, just power power it down and then hold power up whilst plugging in to your PC. If this works the device will load up in fastboot and you should be able to flash what you need, to do the above the bootloader will need to be unlocked but you can do that from fastboot.
If your device is in a boot loop plug it in via USB to your PC and keep holding the volume up and when it reboots eventually it will go in to fastboot.

I must be blind, but i can only find the ota updates, not the full stock firmware :/
Thx tho, i'm starting to understand a bit better how it works and how i can fix it.
I'll just try to flash boot and recovery for B100 and B130 untill i cant make it work, for the system.app tho i can't take the B180 as i can't find it.
You need to use the system.img from B130 it is located here https://mega.nz/#!PlpXnLxD!azPTqEscNnwuSdrjpJJKO9zkyCpzAl7d6w3OpYx1se8 once you have this follow the above process and you should end up with a phone thats working and has the correctly matching firmware. Make sure you do it all though, just because it will boot with a mismatched boot loader and system.img doesn't mean you should keep it that way, it could be unstable and will cause issues with future upgrades.

Thx for the reply ! But that's what i said earlier, when i flash boot.img, system.img and recovery.img from the B130 update.app, the phone still bootloops.
I have access to the Huawei E-recovery if i do VOL+ POWER while the phone is plugged in the pc
I have access to the fastboot mode if i do VOL- POWER while the phone is plugged in he pc
I DON'T have access to the software mode upgrader if i do VOL+ VOL- POWER, no matter is the phone is plugged in or not
The phone still bootloops, plugged in or not.
:/
You need to flash boot.img and recovery.img from 180 and system.img from 130, sorry if that was not clear above! the boot loop is being caused because the boot.img doesn't match the version your phone thinks its on, if 180 doesn't work try the version before you upgraded i.e. 170 the system.img is just the android OS if you see HONOR glowing then you are booting system.img at that point but if it isn't glowing then you are still in the bootloader at that point so you need to sort out boot.img.
I've never been in 180, and as i said, i can't take the boot and recovery.img from the OTA update, i need a full stock firmware of B180 ! :/
Thx for the help tho.
I already tried to flash boot.img from B100 b121 and B130, and the phone still bootloops :/

This fixed it!
Found this and it worked for me.
Download latest Official Full ROM from EMUI's site, HuaweiUpdateExtractor and adb / fastboot.
2. Unzip ROM and open UPDATE.APP with HuaweiUpdateExtractor.
3. Extract SYSTEM.img and RECOVERY.img (delete .header files that HuaweiUpdateExtractor generates you need only .img files) and put them in adb folder.
4. Boot in fastboot and conect to PC. (You can achieve this from TWRP to boot to bootloader, adb dosent work but fastboot will there is also key combination to get to bootloader/repair mode or what it is).
5. Open cmd.exe from adb folder and type (or copy-paste) the follow commands one by one:
Code:
fastboot devices
Code:
fastboot flash recovery RECOVERY.img
Code:
fastboot flash system SYSTEM.img
And finally where i had some trouble:
If you got no permissions try again or take usb cable off etc. Took me while to get back from same situtation. Few reboots to TWRP and to bootloader and USB replugging while in bootloader.
And for LINUX: i used split_updata.pl-master from github to extract the .APP/Firmware needed to sudo fastboot aswell.
Hiiiii guys
Please help me respected sir and other friends.
Anyone have twrp backup of stock rom ?
Because I want go back to stock rom and I have only twrp not pc please thanks in advance
Problem already solved. Thanks!
Hi everyone, this is Sarry. I got my new huawei mate 9 pro on Wednesday this week, the version is LON-L29C636, I was trying to flash a custom ROM into the phone, but unfortunately I was too careless, flashed a different version ROM into it and cause immediate start up loop. As I finally boot into fastboot and twrp rec mode, I noticed that the computer won't recognize the USB portal of the device. So I went in eRecovery mode and tried to download an updated version but it failed to find any useful version.
Since mate 9 pro doesn't support SD card, I brought a USB-OTG cable and also usb type-c microSD adapter, when I connected the sd card to the phone, twrp reads the information, but when I tried to flash the update.zip file, it failed. I tried to copy the dload folder with update.app by twrp into phone storage, even if I got successful, the file just disappeared when i refresh the page. So now I don't have any idea on how to unbrick the phone, felt really bad.
Feel free to ask me any question or information needed, I really hope to unbrick the phone, I've been using huawei cellphone for more then 2 years and love it very much. Thanks for the help!!
Hello,
well the situation isn't that hard actually, you may just get the stock image and flash it from fastboot then start the custom rom installation from scratch.
what is the error number or statement?
EDIT: you will need huawei update extractor to pull out the img files and flash them through fastboot
Another Edit:
in the file path choose the update.app
you will need the following partitions:
Boot
System
Recovery
^select these then right click and press `extract selected` and flash them using the following commands:
1- fastboot devices > to check the device
2- fastboot flash boot boot.img
3- fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
4- fastboot flash system system.img
hope this helps you
good luck!

Thank you so much for the help! The fastboot script isn't really working because when I tried to run it in cmd, it shows 'error can't find device', so I tried to flash the img files with twrp, the boot.img and recovery.img works well, but the system.img cannot be flashed, and the error message shows 'E:\cannot flash system.img'. I also tried to download the full version firmware and created dload folder in my SD card, copied UPDATE.APP into the folder, tried the 3 button force update, still nothing worked. Now the seller send me an Email said I can return the product, they are going to charge me for some ROM re installation fee.
However what error does it give during flashing system.IMG I would like to know, also as well as twrp custom ROM flashing?

well brother about the driver issue, sorry about being late, you must have downloaded the fastboot drivers and installed them.
