And for that reason if the the Sharp Crystal ever gets rooted I'm getting that phone. A cheap and fantastic upgrade. I love HTC build quality, but done with Sense.

I'm looking to jump on the Sharp Crystal anyways. I'm done relying on roots or phones being high range.
Just want a phone that looks good and is as powerful as the Desire 601.
The fact that it starts on KitKat is just icing cause it seems every phone that went from JB to KK has a battery issue (that wasn't a flagship phone)

Following the link on that page[ http://www.theandroidsoul.com/andro...dule-samsung-htc-sony-motorola-manufacturers/ ] it says
HTC Desire 601 May-June 2015
Which probably means December 2016 which how bad HTC treats this phone and that's IF we get an update..
Not staying with this phone that long anyways, jumping ship away from it and HTC as soon as I can.

I agree. Tge absolutely only good thing HTC has going for it anymore is build quality is better than the rest and their front speakers kick ass, thats it.

your going for GSM I assume correct??
If so I would honestly wait till after MWC at the end of this month when we should find out dates of the next wave of device's to drop. It might be likely that there is one there that is releasing soon and would warrant waiting just a little bit.
I personally have CDMA version and love it. Now if GSM is your thing and you absolutely have to have one now maybe consider getting a cheapo phone now to wait and see what MWC has to offer?
Or if price is issue and all that then maybe compare the SensationXE/XL to the 3D? lil less Ram in the sensation and no 3D, but you could say a lil stronger Dev group over there on the Sensation than the GSM EVO3D here.
Welcome to XDA btw!

As i understand the GSM version is the International where you can put sim, and CDMA is Sprints without sim, i am from europe so i am going to get GSM, i dont realy want to wait till MWC, because i dont want to spend so much money on "day ago released" phone, because they are expensive and 3D in my country without a contract 460$ but Sensation is 520$, so in my country Sensation is more expensive, or i didnt realy cache your idea ;D
anyway i think that Evo 3D is my think although i realy dont want 3D so much and i preffer 8mpix cam than 5 but Evo is cheaper and it has more power as i understand, so any problems with it? or with rooted version of it?

evo 3d is probably the best you can get for the budget, performance, tweaks and support till the quad core / lte or whatever comes out. you've posted in this forum and that should tell you enough. HTC One X leaked (video)

http://www.technobuffalo.com/compan...c-sheet-confirms-tegra-3-nfc-and-android-4-0/
holy crap! thats all i have to say lol. i was seriously about to give up on HTC after getting the amaze but after seeing this i think i change my mind.
IMO, this is how the Galaxy nexus should have looked.
"4.7-inch 720p Super LCD2 display" super LCD"2"? i already like my screen more than the super AMOLED, cant imagine how this will look. camera has dual shutter mode, the phone has 32gb of storage, its thin, but good build quality. i think when HTC said they will focus on quality this year rather than quantity they meant it.
it looks like they mixed the sensation XL and mytouch 4g haha. not a bad mix though. if this has the tegra 3 i will probably upgrade, if its another quadcore i will probably not.
Will you guys be upgrading? or do you think our hardware is good as it is?

ill probably upgrade when the price lowers and its all around craigslist. its never good to get a device right when it first releases. learned that with the mytouch 4g.
since it does have the tegra 3 that makes me really interested: better battery life and like 60% more GPU performance = amazazing. i will enjoy my amaze while i can though there isnt anything wrong with it and im happy with it.

you mean s-on right? im sure a lot of people wont care considering it has the latest OS. even though google is probably working on jellybean as of now by the time its released it wouldnt matter im sure.
i hate what HTC is doing with the whole s-on/s-off but that doesnt prevent them from making some of the best devices. and the fact that they are doing the whole "quality rather than quantity" will make a lot of people either stay with them or go back. just because samsung has unlocked their bootloaders doesnt make their devices better either.
i would rather have a device better out of the box then a device that is not. and this looks like a solid phone

I get what you're saying, but what I don't understand is how HTC justifies launching all these high-end devices and not really providing proper support for all of them. The Amaze is my first device from HTC and considering that it's a pretty high-end device, I expected a lot more support from HTC and not having to deal with problems like S-On, light bleed, etc
wow just wow, but we still need S-off...
Anyone have a guess of how much this will cost off contract?

I guess thats why they are taking the amaze off the tmobile shelves since this is the last phone they made when they used to do quantity or quality. after they ship the ville and this one it will probably be game changes for HTC if they actually support them well and what not. if they do not and go back to their old ways im probably leaving android all together. the only other android company i like is Sony and they still have yet to release their dual core phones with last years hardware. they will be solid devices but they are still behind the game in the android market lol. i will probably wait for BB 10 and see if thats good.

Oh well better late then don't getting it at all. If you really want ICS already then just run an custom rom with ICS.
Just pointing out, the OP is in Moscow...the email from HTC was directed at a Moscow user. Europe's rollout will be on a different schedule, and America's will be on yet a different schedule. Rollout will not be on the same date worldwide.
and i think the device list gets them first, in order
so EVO3d is like, second last ?
It's insane to me that the custom ROM community can produce multiple ICS ROMs without access to any of HTCs resources well before HTC can release a single ROM.
I can only think of 3 possibilities:
They have less than one person (per device) working full-time on the updates.
HTC employs the worst developers on the planet.
They wont let release ICS updates until they've sold new phones with ICS for a couple months.

The only reason they aren't feature complete is because of closed source HTC drivers.
Anyway, I really don't think that takes away from my argument. HTC will release ICS once they are sure it will not hurt sales of new devices. It's also the reason we wont see Sense 4.0.
It can't be time or cost effective to build ICS with Sense 3.6 and ICS with Sense 4.0. There is little in Sense that is hardware dependent. It's ICS that needs to support the hardware. It would make more sense to have one code base with slight variations for each device.

If one of our devs release a buggy rom we tell them and they can fix it because we're understanding.
But if a carrier releases a buggy rom they get sued and lose customers, and also give the particular device a bad name
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
I ended up giving my girlfriend my Evo3D and switching back to my old Samsung Epic 4G (the slider one) - it's slower, bulkier and has less memory but damn ICS runs smooth on it and everything works. 4G, Cam, etc... I have yet to have a single issue after 2 weeks of heavy use.
Even still, I miss my Evo3D but not enough to go back to using gingerbread.
Whatever. I'll be getting the evo 4g lte soon anyway. I'll get by with mikrunny until then.

I'm still happy with Sense 3.5. I honestly don't get why many people are so desperate in having ICS.
If it's ready for our device then we will get the update, but I can not think off many things that need ICS. And if you willing to lose the 3D feature and camera then I suggest flash Virtuous S4V Beta2.
Biggest bugs are: 3D not working and camera, rest everything works. But I'm not willing to lose features just for having already ICS.

Really?? I think you are wrong. Sprint 6 months ago released the GB rom for the OPTIMUS S. That "update" borked the charging, ear piece volume and other things. Sprint had to PULL THE UPDATE and have customers DOWNGRADE their phones back to Froyo. Sprint didn't get sued considering that rom was buggy as hell. They actually JUST re-released the update starting yesterday.

Telus HTC One X+

Now "Coming soon"! Probably means about 2-3 weeks.
http://www.telusmobility.com/en/QC/htc_one_x_plus/index.shtml
Great news is that Telus version, like AT&T version, has the white/grey accents instead of the Red we've seen for the International version. Also Telus will be 64GB !!!
Bonus is that Telus version has "htc" branding, not the ugly AT&T globe :=)

We don't know yet for sure, but recent history is that new HTC devices are bootloader unlocked unless they are for Verizon. The real question is what AT&T will be doing with its bootloader, since they will more than likely be the same devices save for branding, and custom ROM's for the Telus version will rely on AT&T users cooking them.
Looks like Telus is exclusive carrier in Canada. I spoke to a Rogers rep and there was no confirmation as to whether they are carrying it as well. Simply said might/might not and could not comment. Was that code for yes?
HTC Sensation w/CMX JB 4.1.2
I'm kind of disappointed that TELUS version won't have the red backlit buttons neither the red ring lens cover.
Anyway, that won't stop me from ordering this bad boy at day 1 of launch

Noob question:
Im thinking of getting this, or an S3(i realize theyre big differences i speed, but i care more for rommability). If the boot loader is unlocked, will that make installing CWM+Roms fairly risk free and simple?
Ive only had Samsung devices till now, but getting roms onto HTC devices seems rather difficult, and ALL i want is CM/AOKP. I MAY try a sense rom cuz sense seems cool, but my main concern is ease of slapping roms onto a device.
With my samsung, i just copy it to SD, boot into recovery, bam. Getting CWM on was a few clicks in Odin and that was it..and I dont want alot of risk with bricking my device?
So how easy/safe are HTC phones with locked or unloced bootloaders?

With my samsung, i just copy it to SD, boot into recovery, bam. Getting CWM on was a few clicks in Odin and that was it..and I dont want alot of risk with bricking my device?
So how easy/safe are HTC phones with locked or unloced bootloaders?

Check out the One X community...that should give you a good hint. The only issue is that the international One X+ has no LTE while the N. American variants do...will there be enough devs for the N. American One X+? We don't know.

Wait til I release my toolkit. It'll be nice, easy and simple. I actually hate Odin. This will be easier.

Our X+ has been partitioned to have about little over 55 gig for user access and apps installations, also being media device as in MTP:thumbup:

Is the software version the same as AT&T? Are you using the same tools as the AT&T exploits?
Ok.. that is a very large question and i suspect to have plenty of different answer..
But at the moment i have an Amaze 4G and i would like to know if it would be a good move to get the OneX+ from Telus..?

In case you haven't been keeping up with Google I/O, one of the BIG announcements was the release of a complete stock, unlocked, open Samsung Galaxy S4.
It will come with 4.2.2 I believe. It will get updates direct from Google.
However, it is a GSM device. What do you all think about it? Anyone been on the fence about switching phones? Anyone reserve a Verizon S4?
I think it's cool, and I hope Google drops more phones in this manner.
It's cool, but no real reason to get it above a regular s4 imo.

Half the s4's have an unlocked bootliader anyway and most people will be using custom roms, so the ota updates really don't matter.

It also not working on Verizon is a big reason why I won't be getting one. Also, it's $650.
Will the fact this S4 will have Stock android help out the devs for the Carrier's Models? CM etc..? Once all of the sources and what not are dropped by google?

$650 is lower compared to the DNAs full price at launch.
It not working on Verizon really does suck, perhaps some devs will port the ROM over to the CDMA version. I want complete and utter stock experience.
This phone pleases the Android purist in me. I so wish I could have it on my current phone, but I must be patient.

Point being, I have an upgrade. So I can just get the GS4 for $199.
I imagine that since this exists, it would be pretty close to trivial for an almost complete stock experience on any GS4, as from past experience.
Huge letdown in my opinion.
Droid DNA-Newt Sense 5
Nexus 7-Stock
I think it's pretty amazing (and definitely surprising) that Samsung agreed to stock Android.
Hopefully this will set a trend with other manufacturers as well.
I would have been more excited if Google chose the GS4 AND the HTC One for its pure Nexus-like version. Even at full price a HTC One w/ pure AOSP would be a very very very compelling option for high end users. Arguably the best software paired with THE best hardware. That could be worth $650

Agreed... But HTC doesnt have the "stones" to do that. Its led around by the nose from the carriers... snapping their fingers.. "here boy...here boy...cmon".... LOLOLOL....
Ex.... 16 gigs memory... no sd slot.... not helping devs (on the DL) to unlock phones. Now that would be epic. Till then they will always be second or even third consideration for me. I had a TBolt, Rezound, and now DNA. Loved all phones but Nooka please....get some ballz HTC!!!
I'd buy it in a heartbeat if it was compatible with Verizon. I'll have to settle for the normal one with Cyanogenmod.

Doesn't this also mean that (so long as the bootloader remains unlockable) vzw s4 users can have 100% compatible aosp as son as the source is released? I don't know how different the models for each carrier are.
