After the recent 148 update, my HAM2 Wi-Fi can no longer connect after wake up. The turn on button will suck for a while, then reset to off state. Only way to fix is turn on flight mode and then turn off.
Anyone has similar issue or just me?

mine does not connect (automatically) to WiFi after rebooting, even though WiFi is enabled in config.
I have to tap on WiFi button twice (disconnect and then connect again), after that HAM2 "restores" the WiFi connection.
Though, I don't have such problem after wake up (as in your case).
When my issue happens, can not turn on Wi-Fi at all, even after reboot. The only way to fix it is turn on flight mode and turn off.
Now I just change Wi-Fi sleep policy to never, this seems to be fine. But with some extra battery drain though.

Hey everyone, I seem to be having issues when using wifi. When home I try to use wifi and it connects and seems to be working fine. After a while when sitting idle everything will just stops working. The phone itself seems fine, but i'll stop getting email and anything that uses internet stops working as well. To get things to start working I have to either toggle wifi or just turn wifi off.
Any ideas?
Check your battery/sync settings. If you changed to normal sync/wifi/etc will turn off after 15 minutes unless you manually change it.
Even at Performance power setting, I found my Wi-Fi would still go to "sleep" after sitting for a while. The culprit I think is the "Sleep Mode", which is enabled by default. Changing that to manual or even off should solve the problem.

You have to go to Advanced under WiFi Settings (Hit menu button) and turn always on.
Mine has the same "problem." I'm ok with WiFi turning off to save battery. I haven't been able to reliably get it to wake up.

Didn't know that, thanks!
Good call, man. I think that's why mine randomly shuts off too! Im gonna start setting sleep mode for when I sleep every night.... It says it shuts off networks when screen is off but when I turn it on, WiFi is on right away...when you turn WiFi off it takes much longer than that to power up so I don't know what networks its shutting down lol

No problemo!
Archos 101 IT + UrukDroid 1.6.4
When the tablet is off (sleeping), my local DHCP server gets DHCP requests from the tablet every minute. The power led briefly lits when it wakes up.
When I switch the tablet on, the first thing it does is drop the WiFi connection and re-establishes it.
This seems higly illogical. Also, when I have networking applications running when I switch the tablet off, these apps crash or malfunction when I switch it on again.
Did I overlook a specific setting to avoid this?
I think that when you turn it on, the WiFi connection has already been dropped, but the indicator hasn't been updated yet. It then notices that the connection is down, updates the indicator, and re-connects. I'm not sure about the DHCP requests every minute. You can check in the System Monitor's Alarms tab what's waking your device that often; my guess is that the system figures it'll try to reconnect now that it's woken up, but it doesn't stay awake long enough to establish a useful connection.
I don't think there's really anything you can do to avoid this in general; it's just the way Android power management works. What you can do if you really want is to install an application that will hold a partial wake lock for you. As long as the wake lock is held, the device will never completely go to sleep; the screen will turn off (for a partial wake lock), but the network connection won't be dropped. Of course, this will consume much more power than letting your device sleep normally. I use this when I know I'm going to be intermittently using my tablet for a while (like when I'm cooking) and don't want to keep waiting for the network connection to come back up.

That could very well be the case.

Whenever I switch it on, there's always an alarm scheduled for Android System for the next minute.
I like keeping my wifi on while my screen is asleep so that I can receive chat messages or e-mails without being at my computer. I never had this problem while running ICS on an unrooted TF201, but ever since I installed the upgrade to JB my wifi will always disconnect after the screen has been asleep for a few minutes. I've checked every setting I can think of. In the Wifi Advanced menu, I have it set so Wifi is always on, and in the ASUS customized setting I have Disconnect network during sleep to off. Under Power Saver I have Enable low battery settings off, set Low battery level to 0%, and even set Wifi OFF to off. Despite all of this, it seems like the tablet under JB goes into some sort of deep sleep and disconnects the wifi after about 5 minutes of inactivity.
I have noticed that this problem does not occur when the screen is on. I also have the dock, and set the screen to always on during meetings in the event that I don't need to enter any notes for a few minutes so I don't have to fool with any delays from screen wake .
Is there some setting I'm missing? Is it a hidden setting that I could access by rooting? Or am I dealing with something internal to the build that I can't change at all? This may not seem like a huge deal to most, but it has become one of my main uses for the tablet when I'm at home. I'm very disappointed with JB so far even though the wifi does feel more responsive on the Prime after the update (when it's not sleeping, of course!).
EDIT: I noticed this evening that the wifi turns off even when I'm running something that uses it while the screen is off. I was listening to Pandora, and about 5 minutes after the screen went off, my music stopped. When I turned the screen back on, I saw that the wifi had indeed become disconnected.
hey,
I have exactly the same problem with my tablet. I have checked every option, I did a factory reset several time, I have checked it on 2 different routers but it is still disconnecting the wife when it goes in the sleep modus. Did you or anyone else find a solution?
Is anyone else having problems with the S3 not staying connected to wifi? Mine usually disconnects when it goes into sleep mode. When I turn on the screen it comes back on again. I'm running Wanam Lite 6.2 (DLJ4)
What sleep policy have you got it set too?
(Settings/Wi-Fi/menu button/advanced)
I'm the same even with the sleep policy set to wifi never sleeps. . Constantly having wifi disconnect issues with this darn phone.

Try different security on router
Try this, on phone pad click *#0011# this takes you into service mode. click menu then click wifi this brings up a screen with info on it. There is a box which says on. press this so it says off then click done. Your wifi will stay connected until you shut the phone down. When you restart your phone go through the process again. A pain I know but it works.

Thanks colin, I've heard this before and helps somewhat with the sleeping wifi, but not with random disconnects/reconnects, ive been creating lots of threads tryna solve my issue, may return my handset
Cheers
I've got "keep wifi on during sleep" set to "Always". Have also used *#0011# to turn off wifi power save mode, but it still turns off the wifi radio.
Turning PSM off works for my however the battery drains upto 5 times faster! So much so it's better to just manually keep reconnecting rather than turning PSM off. Is there a someway of tweaking PSM to not disconnect?
I have been impressed with CM11/4.4.2. Runs well for being so new and not yet having an officially 'stable' version yet.
The one issue I have had is with the WiFi restarting after sleep.
KeepWifiOnDuringSleep is set to OnlyWhenPluggedIn. Whenever the tablet is awoken the WiFi stays disabled. Manually turning it off then on again will get it to reconnect but only for a short time, maybe a minute, before it permanently disables again. Only way to fully recover is to reboot.
Note that WiFi is be reported to be 'disabled'. It does not appear to be an issue of connectivity, wireless lease, no signal...
Anybody else experiencing this?
I successfully use an app called WiFi Fixer to reconnect after sleep.

That's been an on-and-off issue for ROMS going back to CM7. The work around has been to turn off WiFi before the screen turns off. Many folks have been using AutomateIt or Tasker to handle this automatically.
