Hello all,
I'm a bit new with the Rezound, I was pretty experienced with the DInc2 and DInc before it, but I'm wondering something, I've looked around a bit, so apologies if I missed a thread, but I haven't found a straight up direct answer.
I have the latest ICS leak installed on my phone, I haven't rooted or s-off'd the phone just yet.... so what I need to know is:
1. Do I need to be S-OFF to flash the GB RUU so I can get the OTA when it releases?
OR
2. Will the phone still pick up the OTA with the leaked version of ICS since the leak is still an "official" build etc.
Hello, i'm also looking for same info, only i'm like a super noobie, I have an RUU, INSTALLED the HTC sync, which failed saying "waiting for boot loader" and that's all she wrote. So I think I need to do something to the boot loader, only what i'm not too sure.
Thanks.

Good question, not new to htc, I came from the tbolt, but if I run the latest ruu as a .img file through hboot, how would I get back to the stock gb rom that's currently on my rez, or will I be able to accept the ota while on the leak?
from my knowledge you will be able to ota to the release as long as it is a higher version that what the current leak is.
and if that fails you could s-off then gb ruu and then ota up.
I would like to go back to a nandroid backup of GB ROM that I had before I updated my firmware to the latest ICS leak. I can get it to restore & boot up, but I have no access to my sd card, so I have none of my apps. I feel like I've tried everything - nandroid helper, old firmware fix - but I don't know what to do next. Any suggestions?
In my trials to go back to a ginger bread RUU based firm ware, the process gets stuck at waiting on the boot loader, the phone is apparently not recognized. It is also not seen by the HTC sync.
the boot loader has been locked I don't know what to do next. It doesn't appear I can flash anything from fast boot menu.
Thanks for reading this far.

Hello and thanks for your time looking into this.
I am on ICS Leak - and need to go back to GB - the thing is good but the battery is atrocious and it heats like anything.
So I went ahead and put the thing in boot loader and then ran the RUU after exiting the HTC sync. Now I am getting Error 140 - Boot loader version Error.
Ah the pain this phone is causing
I have one more question: Do I have to do this every time I want to go back to a previous backup (one that I did prior to updating to the ICS firmware)? If so, I'm wondering if it wouldn't just be easier to go back to GB firmware......
Ver Change for Error 140 - Android SDK CMD???
According to my research - I need to down the version using hex editor via ADB Shell. Dear God !
I have tried / installed SDK/ and Java Dev Kit. No Go - is there an app I can do this on the phone itself?
Thanks

Given I cannot downgrade back from HBoot 2.25.0000 is it not simpler to wait for the next RUU - whatever that is may over write this one?

You will need s-off to revert but as of hboot 2.25 it doesnt accept flashboot commands. Kinda stuck til a patched hboot gets released if you took the 5/7 leak.

Thanks for looking into this - so my option is to wait for a patched hboot 2.25 or wait for another RUU with an Hboot higher than 2.25.
I was wondering if I could install CWM recovery - and just flash myself an GB ROM. My issues with this ROM are overheating and battery chomping. I wonder if that will be helped with a GB ROM - supposedly more mature and efficient. If this can be done can you point me to a thread?

Hello, Im pretty new when it comes to rooting/custom recoveries on Android. Today I got the notification that AT&T had a software update so naturally I grabbed it. I re-booted the phone but loaded into TWRP and the update didn't take. I researched a little and came to find out that you can't do OTA updates if you're running custom recoveries. My question now is what's the best way for me to get it? Im running the stock rom from HTC, I'm just rooted and have no desire to run any custom roms at this time (Such as Cyanogen or the like). I've looked around and seen a few .12 custom stock roms, but I've also seen the leaked .ruu file. Not sure how to proceed in terms of getting the update installed. All I really want it is the updated firmware along with my current root access. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am pretty noobish when it comes to this.
Best way is if you are stock rooted now is to flash the stock . 12 rooted that scrosler posted. You can flash without wiping if you want

No it's not hard at all, but as I said I'm not looking for any custom roms..simply wanted to remain stock with the latest firmware upgrade. Not sure if the the leaked .ruu that came out a week or so ago would accomplish this or not.

why? the space it will take up on the phone will be the same.
Update OTA's aren't structured like rom's that are packaged for custom recoveries.
Update OTA's also check to make sure the necessary parts are already on the phone so they only update the changed files. If you have altered your device in any way, the OTA will fail. This is a good thing. Less support calls from users whose updates fail.
Freshly pulled from my OTA-updated device and built as-is from stock.
Only thing I did was add su binary to allow root access. Didn't even install SuperSU (you can do that from the Play Store).
DOWNLOAD
I'm deodexing currently and will upload that version shortly as well.
DOWNLOAD - Deodexed
I'll also upload my rooted version of the OTA file (with firmware removed) which will allow you to flash the OTA with TWRP (but ONLY if your device has zero modifications to /system). You'll have to flash the boot.img through fastboot, which I will attach to this post (this version is signed, straight from the firmware zip).
Rooted OTA only Download
Confused about what this is, or what to flash? See this post by barleysoda which explains it very well.
Link is live, folks. If someone would be kind enough to make sure it actually works, I'd appreciate it .
Thanks captain!!
Downloading now. Thanks Captain!
Works for me. Thank you!
Deodexed version, and Rooted OTA now up as well. Go to town, lol .
Not that there's any reason to update to this version. A few minor changes are doubtful to have much of an effect. The firmware *might* make a difference, but that's in a different thread .
Sorry for the n00b questions, but:
What is the difference between the first link and the third link?
Is the boot.img required for all?
Thanks!

1st and 2nd links are full stock rooted ROMs. 3rd link is the OTA only, which will require the boot image to be flashed additionally. You have to be on stock 3.16 software for that to work, as it says.

Sorry, I'm used to just flashing the new nightly builds straight on AOSP.

You can try it, I guess. But you'll have to flash the boot.img too, as I said. If it doesn't work just flash one of the full ROMs.
Did the update come with a new radio? If so can I have a link to it? Thanks. I updated through the bootloader. It asked me if I wanted to update once I put out pin my external sd card and renamed it. It said successful. But my radio didn't change.

To update the phone. I'd like to update the radios, and do I NEED to be on a stock Rom, instead of Bareback or a modified stock rom like SuperJelly, to update?
There seem to be 3 things to download, the Rooted OTA, the boot.img, and the radios on your MikMik page.
God I hate these OTA updates. Such a hassle, every damn time, but I want to have the latest updates.
And to try to prevent any further drop down the rabbit hole, I am s-off.

If you want to update your radios, hit up Captain's firmware thread in development and follow the instructions for updating. If you want the stock rooted ROM, download one of the stock rooted ROM's from this thread (the first two links). The ROM zips don't contain the new firmware, which is why you'll have to update that separately.

This may be a whole lot quicker of a resolution...
But you need a completely stock rom and recovery to take an OTA.
An OTA will not apply in a custom recovery.
None of the stock roms previously posted were clean enugh to accept the OTA that I could find.
So you would either have to use the decrypted RUU, take 5 OTA's and eventually get where you are going.
Or use the link I provided which is a clean enough base that it will allow OTA's to flash if desired in the future.(with stock recovery loaded)

You have to have recovery installed so you can flash his rom, so yes, you need to root it first, use moonshine method, then install on your phone something like flash img gui or even twrp, then get the twrp img. and flash it to your phone. After twrp is installed(after reboot into normal phone) you can download his rom to your phone and flash it using twrp again, it'll reboot into recovery automatically and install the rom .

I have an Evo LTE I used the RUU to get to 4.3 sense 5. I unlocked with htcdev and I used rumrunner to s off. But when I try to flash a rom it sticks at the white screen with htc and red writing under. I relocked and used the RUU to get the phone back. I'll post a pic of the bootloader screen when I can. right now it says - relocked, jewel pvt ship soff rl, cid-spcs_001, hboot-2.10.0000, radio-1.13.11.1105, opendsp-v33.1.0.45.1128, emmc-boot. I tried cm12, dirty unicorn and another I don't remember the name of. any ides on what the problem or solution might be. I've haad a few android phones now, but I guess I haven't gotten it completely down yet.
This is what it looks like when I try to flash.
I got slimkat to install. I wanted to check out lollipop, but I think I might go back to 4.3 or sense 5.5. If anyone has any ideas though, I would still like to give cm12 a try.
You're using the wrong version of TWRP. Updating your device to Android 4.3 changed the partition layout which the official TWRP hasn't accounted for. You need to use Captain Throwbacks TWRP (Post 3): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2639180
I wasn't sure on this. CWM touch didn't work, twrp seems to work ok and when I searched for capn's twrp, the thread I found said that the newer versions of twrp are ok to use. thank you though, I wasn't sure when I'd get a response. I'm liking the sense 5.5, but I do like trying different roms. I used carbon 4.4 on my atrix hd.
do you happen toknow if i can turn off blinkfeed on sense 5.5 rom?

According to Captain Throwback the official version of TWRP works fine on the new partition layout.
That's where I'm confused. Because several thread for rims say to use captain throwback's twrp and he says the new one works. As far as I know the one I have is the newest, but I can't flash any lo rims I tried and one that was jb or kk. But I did get Zionist to install and another kk Rom. I am currently using sense 5.5 and may just stay with it since I can't seem to get much to work. Any suggestions for a good sense Rom? And is there a working sense 6 Rom, I saw a few things that say there is, but all of them I see have no service or camera.
And thanks again everyone.
My twrp was 2.8.3.0. I switched to capt throwbacks and was able to install cm12. not sure why.

InsertCoin port in original section is a fully working sense 6 port. It was my daily until I got my m8
I thought it had issues with wifi and hotspot. if not I will definately try it out. thanks.
i have his same problem and screen. i flashed newest cptb twrp, and it cant mount /data. i tried like all 4 of his recoveries and it cant mount data, so i cant flash any rom. the newest twrp cptb just goes on and off and on and off... the older ones will at least boot, but i cant flash anything.
to explain a bit more, it fails even when i try factory reset in bootloader or a working twrp.
