Hi.
Just used Flashify ("Recovery image") to flash the "twrp-2.8.0.0_ls990-signed".
I can go into recovery.
Is it means that the device is Unlocked?
Thanks!

I just don't get that,
I just don't understand the wholly thing.
I used by Flashify to flash the "twrp-2.8.8.0_ls990-signed.img" AND i do have a twrp.
I just don't get that: Why i do not have the Bump?
At the "Bump! Unlock your G3...." they using adb commands in order to flash the twrp.
Maybe bc's i used Flashify it gave me ONLY twrp?
Now, can anyone please explain to me - How to get Bump if i have already the TWRP?
I having such a bad concentration and feels LOST with too much info'.
Since a left Apple, i had the S2 + S3 + Nexus 4 & now the G3.
Looks like in the G3 it much complicated than the others.
Thank you very much!

You have bump. Bump is the unlock method for this device. I also used flashify so trust me, you are unlocked if TWRP is installed. That being said, please read and follow instructions carefully and have a GOOD understanding of things before flashing anything to your phone. Otherwise, that's how bricks happen. Also, always remember, Google is your friend.

Thanks for your replay.
So fortunately(4me) - as i have TWRP ... i already unlocked my device.
But the question is it "bumped" already? Bc's from what i read, to be Bumped i need to execute a commands via cmd.
I never did that...I just flashed the img file over Flashify.
Didn't flashed a modified Bumped file OR flashed a commands via cmd.
I ask that bc's i know that with Bump i can flash rom's without needed to wipe anything.
And it is a nice thing.
Tried to Hold Volume Down + Power & When seen the LG logo, keep holding Volume Down, release Power and quickly press it again.
But did not get any "Factory Reset screen".
Thank you.
Yes, you just flashed using flashify instead of adb to get to the same place. Any rom you flash must be "bumped" if it is not running the stock kernel.
O.K.
So i dont need to flash/push any file in order to have "bump" in my G3.
If i was managed to flash the twrp-2.8.0.0_ls990-signed.img ---> my G3 is "Bumped"?
And whenever i want to flash the zip of the Rom(or any img / any zip of an App) and i'm not running thestock kernel - it must be "bumped"?
Whenever i'm on the stock karnel i can flash anything?
Oh, and if i find something that is "not bumped" - how do i bump it?
Sorry - but never found any info' that explain that for "starters" in LG.
Thank you very much.

As a user, you won't be bumping anything. The developers will pre bump any ROMs that don't use stock kernels. You can flash any stock based ROM. All of this information is readily available here and accessible by searching. Again, please make sure you only flash ROMs that match your device model. Reading is fundamental.

[SOLVED]
I am at a complete loss for a fix. Short story is: I wasn't receiving any MMS, so I finally decided to ODIN back to stock and used this method so I could keep my data. Here's what happened next:
- ODIN passed but I couldn't get past the Verizon logo
- Tried several suggested fixes but the last resort one worked; I wiped data & factory reset (thus defeating the purpose of the no-wipe ODIN... w/e)
- Everything loads fine, TouchWiz works but I get a Factory Mode popup and can't lock my screen. (still can't lock my phone even now but will use this method if I think I'm stuck with TouchWiz)
- I use this method to unlock bootloader and root - root confirmed.
- Try to install CWM recovery or TWRP (btw, where the hell did GooManager go and why is it so hard to find now) and they say successful but I simply can't boot into them, just keep getting the factory recovery screen which won't let me flash any roms or any non-signed .zips
- MMS Still doesn't work!
- I call VZW in desperation and somehow they magically reset my account services and MMS works again! (I probably could have done this in the first place and not lost my ROM/Data and sanity if I'd known)
I have looked high and low for a solution but have found none. I also have been unable to find a REGULAR stock MDK file to flash on this phone - I can only find the NO-WIPE version which doesn't even allow you to keep your data. I'm confused and frustrated and would love some active help, I just can't find the right threads/posts/ect.
Thank you kindly for any advice.. I love my S4 and have been using PA, PAC, CM and other ROMS since the day I got it - I need that back! TouchWiz is just... I just don't like it.
Try this one.

Thanks for the original stock.. sadly I am still ending up with the Android System Recovery and despite installing CWM Recovery, I just can't get to it. I also still get the ridiculous Factory Mode popup.
Any ideas? I'm so sad :'(
From off it's either home+volume down+power or home+volume up+power. One boots into stock recovery the other will boot into CWM.
Hold all three until you see some small blue text in the upper left of the screen.

Thanks for the effort but I'm well aware of that. As I said in the OP, I've been using custom ROMs on this since day one - the issue is that I cannot boot into CMW Recover, despite having a successful install via the app.
Dumb question, which app are you using? I use RomManager to install CWM (up to 6.0.4.7) and I have a flashable zip of 6.0.5.0.

I'm using ROM Manager but it won't work. I'd love to try ODIN flashing the CWM Recovery if you have the file for my MDK build.
I may have it on my PC at home. When I get there (60-90 min) I'll look. If I do I'll post up to Dropbox and give you a link.
Ok, I've searched my HDD and I don't have the CWM file. What I do have is the MDK all-in-one root+recovery tool for the I545. I can put it up and upload it if the file isn't too large but I don't know if that'll help you.
CWM 6.0.5.0 flashable zip is in the CM11 thread but I don't know if the recovery image in the file is good for you, either

I'm still at a loss for why ROM Manager was unable to flash CWMR but I guess I don't _need_ to know, I am so happy this is a big step after 3 days of touchwiz hell!

This thread might be dead, but rather than starting a new one for what is probably a stupid question, I'll ask it here and see what happens. I've been having major trouble flashing any 5.0 rom on my MDK VZW S4....Seems like every ROM fails when flashing. I have a feeling my issue is an outdated version of TWRP (2.5.0.2), but I am very hesitant to update because it seems like everyone has been having issues with 2.8.1.0. With this being said, are you guys currently running the most current version of TWRP and would you mind advising which .img file worked via Flashify? Not sure whether to use the jfltexxx or jfltevzw...or if it even matters.
I'm sure I've left out pertinent information, but let me know what I'm missing and I'll update accordingly.
I've been using the latest version of TWRP 2.8.1.0 and running Euroskank Lollerpop with zero issues. Coincidentally, TWRP just got updated today to 2.8.3.0 which i have yet to flash but will do so shortly. I would recommend JFLTEVZW based on my usage. Not sure if the other variant works or not but it appears you have a verizon device so stick with JFLTEVZW.

Flash the 21l boot.img in fastboot. Then try the ota. Chain fire modified the boot image and that's why it isn't working

Where do i get that 21l img file? And how to flash if fastboot is not recognized? I have twrp installed, could someone provide a flashable zip? Thanks

Yeah...., I could go with this too, actually. I had pretty much everything from the board loaded. Including @Chainfire 's recov. I then later attempted to update the *poluza rom parts. It was failing any which way I tried in or out of twrp. Unfortunately, I am not much of a fastboot user, nor twrp.
I thought that maybe it had something to do with this updated vendor img. By the time I was done I had reformatted several times and started from scratch not leaving out steps. As far as I know. With just these images and no device trees nor a proper updater script, there is no way to tell really.
Currently and for a few days, it's been down to bare metal, and only a fastboot to look at. lol
I can't even seem to make a new factory image flash.
Never since my first android have I been this lost frankly.....
Maybe they have them now, I will look but it would also be helpful if the guys used a bit of ......'if.....then......' in their 'OP's'
"If you are using the included recovery, then......"
"If you are using this recovery then do......."
"If you wanted to use @Chainfire s recovery, then simply paste it......."
etc.
Could anyone possibly help and provide a way to update??? I unlocked bootloader and I am rooted, but now I want to have a working way to update....ANY HELP??
I found a solution: check out the video and download his tool...he did a great job there and it worked like a charm for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Used the one click script last night on stock 12b. worked great!
question. Now that I am rooted, I've been looking at threads about installing a custom recovery. Some info is old some new and I cant tell what's best so I figure I'll just ask. Sorry if the answer was staring me in the face in one of the threads. Can i install clockwork or twrp so i can backup my device and possibly start trying custom roms? I read stuff about Bump... and pre bumped roms but im unsure... any insight/explanation of whats going on would help. I'm coming from an older phone which, once rooted, was easy to load and switch between custom roms in clockwork.

Just to confirm...So is it now unnecessary to manually Bump! our phones since, from what I gather in your posts, using TWRP Manager or Flashify to flash the Bump'd TWRP performs the steps outlined in the Bump! guide?
Edit: Just read in another thread that the 12b update disables the ability to set our phones to Ethernet mode which the Bump! guide requires. Am I right in stating that, in order to get TWRP flashed, we have to either downgrade to 10b or use TWRP Manager/Flashify?
Wish I didn't have to learn a new process each time I switch devices unless, of course, it's a Nexus. Just made the jump from the 1st gen Moto X to the G3 so I'm making sure I know and understand what's necessary, what works, what doesn't, and what's possible.

Understood. Totally worth it, though. This is an awesome phone.
At least you're not asking about TWRP on the LG Pad 8.3 tablet. We have to downgrade the bootloader before using adb to write TWRP to the recovery partition.

I would like to know how to upgrade to a new ROM (Lollipop or better) on my Verizon HTC One Max with the option to return to stock. Software Information: 4.4.2, Sense 6.0, 3.09.605.3, 6.20, 4.60_002, 15432, 5
I was told to use (and did) Sunshine and then downloaded SuperSU from Google Store (per very detailed instructions and was told to not choose TWRP when the question popped up to choose one or the other (common/normal?)).
My phone is now UNLOCK and S-OFF as well as Rooted (but I'm having a lot of problems with blank screens, etc. and even had the black screen with the red ! in a red triangle (and I don’t know how I got it to boot up again (pushed pwr buttons, vol +/-, etc.)). However, that is as far as I’ve gotten. Confused am I.
I don’t know how to flash; however, I’ve been trying to figure it out, but I’m lost.
I’ve downloaded a lot of files from other threads, but the instructions, while detailed, didn’t say HOW to flash or add TWRP where I (a NEWBORN NEWBIE/NOOBIE) could understand, etc. Is there a place where all this is together?
Am I out of luck or would someone PLEASE help me fix and upgrade it with the option to return to stock if needed? I would love to have Sense 7.0, if possible. I apologize for such a long post/thread.
THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!!!!!
P. S. My phone is now Prepaid Verizon (was Postpaid). Don't know if that matters. I have pics of the files I downloaded from one of your great guys, but they are on my computer. Not sure how to upload. I AM GLAD THAT I FOUND YOUR SITE!!!!!
@LoveSpock I am going to make this short and simple...
First off the Verizon Max software only goes up to 4.4.2. If you want to upgrade you'll need a custom rom which is why you S-OFF and unlocked...
You will need to get familiar with fastboot commands. Google is your friend on how to use if you don't know how to. Here is the link to the TWRP image for your device. http://flyhalf205.com/recoveries/openrecovery-twrp-2.8.7.1-t6univ.img Once you get fastboot setup you will type in the command fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.8.7.1-t6univ.img Make sure you have everything in the same directory when executing the command.
From there you are free to wipe then flash anything you would like. Wiping will delete your data so text, contacts that are stored on local phone(not sim or google) will be deleted.
@Flyhalf205
Thank you for your response and instructions. Does this mean I don't need to do anything to the SUPERSU that is already on the phone (and what it did)?.... Following your instructions will wipe everything?
I'll definitely need to take out my sd card. I've saved a ton of stuff on it. ...and backup my contacts and text messages.
I have some more googling and try to learn what you wrote for me to learn. I'll also have to find out what ROM to use....
Your Padawan thanks you.

Shouldn't worry about supersu. Most custom ROMs are going to have that prebuilt into it. Once you get TWRP we will go further into detail about how stuff works.
If you use twrp no need to take your SD card out just go to setting and unchecked SD card and like lovespoke said make sure to dl the right file you can dl right fastboot files here on xda just search it
Hey! Don't mean to hijack the thread but I'm in the same boat. I've never rooted and I'm looking to root my Verizon HTC one max. I'd also like to maybe install a custom Rom but I'm a noob so I'm not quite sure what I'm doing. Ok so it's my understanding that sunshine will root, s-off, AND unlock my boot loader? Btw I have no idea what those terms mean. Anyway, if someone could please confirm that about sunshine, it would really help me out. I've already downloaded and installed sunshine on my phone but I haven't paid the $25 yet.
Xx Moe, I strongly suggest you READ the various threads on XDA about unlocking bootloaders, gaining S-OFF and rooting. You can easily brick a device and there's much less support for the Max now than there was when it came out more than two years ago.
I don't believe Verizon HTC One Max's can be rooted without unlocking bootloader/gaining S-OFF and the exclusive method for that is Sunshine (unless you know someone with a Java card). Once you're bootloader unlocked and S-OFF, you can then "flash" any partition on the device and that's how to brick the device.
Once you are bootloader unlocked and S-OFF, you start by flashing a 'recovery', which is usually the latest version of TWRP for the HTC One Max. Don't flash a recovery for a different device. (Google "Team Win Recovery Project"). Once you have a custom recovery you can "wipe" your device and flash a new ROM.
Wiping deletes all data, or some data, depending upon how you wipe, and there are not very many Verizon HTC One Max ROMs out there that are fully functional. Check the threads, one sticky thread has a listing of ROMs.
Finally, I don't believe anyone has gotten Marshmallow going on a Max, so expect the "best" you'll be able to do is a Lollipop ROM or a Cyanogen Mod equivalent.
Awesome! Thanks for the super quick reply. So yes, sunshine will s-off and unlock boot loader. That seemed to be the million dollar question since (like you said) the one max doesn't have very much support anymore. I'm definitely going to keep reading the forums because I don't want to brick my phone. I've also been watching some tutorials on YouTube. Everything (so far) seems pretty straight forward now, but you can never be too careful. Thanks for your help hgoldner!

Download the platform tools and the android usb driver. Don't need anything else.
But basically if your s-off yet. Boot into HBOOT. Power off phone and hold down both power button and the volume down button. Select fastboot using the power button. Your computer should hopefully automatically pick up drivers and call the device "My HTC" in the device manager. If not you'll need to go in and manually assign the downloaded driver using the link above to the Android device in device manager.
Download twrp image file into the same directory as the platform tools downloaded to. In windows, right click while holding down shift anywhere on the white blank area in platform tools and click on "open command window here".. From there you will type in the command fastboot flash recovery recoveryFileName.img
If it says waiting for device. Check device manager and make sure the driver is installed right.

Ok, so if im doing this correctly, the twrp img should be in the platform tools folder and my computer should recognize my phone as "my htc" as shown in my attached screenshot...

Perfect! Thank you so much! now all i have to do is use sunshine to s-off/unlock bootloader and follow this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2498746 to install custom recovery and i should now be able to flash custom roms! Thanks for your help! A donation will be coming your way soon! :good::good::good::highfive:
Almost Ready....

Shouldn't worry about supersu. Most custom ROMs are going to have that prebuilt into it. Once you get TWRP we will go further into detail about how stuff works.

I've been out of commission... Sorry about the long wait.
I'm sure you've been very busy.
I found the fastboot.exe file and placed it and your twrp file into a folder on my desktop. Before I run fastboot and add your twrp img file, what would the next step be? .... I don't have have a ROM yet to add to the phone. Should I have that first? Would you please direct me to the right one for me? I noted in one of your replies to another member that there isn't a Marshmallow one, yet.
Do I need the ADB file?
Thank you,
Your Padawan.

Would you recommend uninstalling the HTC program that automatically picks up the phone?

I forget if you were s-off or s-on but you will need to be s-off or your bootloader will need to be unlocked.. You don't need a rom just yet. You could flash recovery and flash root for starters. But once you get it flashed we can start on what to do next.
Update...

Sorry... I started the thread back in January. I've been out of commission and starting over.
I had used Sunshine to S-off and Unlock. I used SU to root. I knew nothing about flashing or fastboot and am still learning. One of your original responses to my original post said that google was my friend, so I googled per your advice and found some information on fastboot.
I don't know what flash root means in your response above.
You had also gave me the link to the TWRP image for my phone. You also wrote "Make sure you have everything in the same directory when executing the command." I've added 2 of the pics again as well as one of your img file in the directory I created when I loaded Android Studio.
The Android Studio I downloaded is the latest. Does that make a difference? I did find info on this site about a minimal adb and fastboot. Would that have been better?
I'm imagining my phone will be out of commission until the new ROM is installed, right? (See how I'm still such a Newbie/Noobie!)
Thank you!
Your Padawan
I did some searches and came up short. I have my bootloader unlock code. Can somebody link me to a root guide for the latest stock rom please? I don't want to install a custom rom. Just install root.

So just to clarify, all I have to do is fastboot to twrp? I don't need to install it? It's confusing. "Boot to recovery and had TWRP"?? Never rooted a phone before. If somebody could go into greater detail, that would be great.
To get root and TWRP.
Credit to Foltz61.
1. Boot to bootloader.
2. Fastboot boot TWRP-L.img
3. Install supersu-2.49.zip (even though I didn't lose root)
4. Reboot back to system.
5. Reboot back to bootloader.
6. fastboot flash recovery TWRP-L.img.
7. fastboot reboot.
8. Boot to recovery and had TWRP

I tried to CyanogenMod my phone. I could not even install twrp. I found those instructions from a link here (supposedly everything one may need to know about the Mate 2):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3149530
I tried the link on my phone and it goes to the last post. Please start with the first post....

You were eventually able to install twrp though right? Seems pretty straight forward and easy. Unlock bootloader, setup adb on comp, enable adb on phone, boot into twrp, flash custom recovery.

Nope. I missed that the unlock part was necessary! Thank you for giving the details though!!!!
When I figured that Device Only mode gives decent GPS use for maps, directions, and Pokémon Go I just decided to leave it be. Plus all this concern with root and Pokémon Go not working. I don't play much but I keep my phone as backup when my son's battery dies.
Thanks again!
