Hey guys, i just wanted to know if my Z2 (D6503) have the qualcomm's quick charge 2.0, but ofcourse it hase it since it is sd801 packed, but is it enabled in the stock rom? Or maybe stock-based like existenz.
Because im planning to buy the motorola turbo charger.
http://www.motorola.com/us/accessor...Turbo-Charger/motorola-turbo-charger-pdp.html
And also, if anybody knows any other charger that is packed by quick charge 2.0, and cheaper price
Not enabled, its disabled for safety because under testing with it enabled the device became very hot
I'm planning to get a 9V 2.5A DC power supply and find out.

Dear All,
Any idea of the effect if we use a 5V 2A charger or a 5V 1.8A ?
My Z2 came with a 5V 1.5A charger
Any inputs will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Either it will charge a bit faster or then it will charge just as fast as before. Depends if the charging circuit inside the phone will accept more than 1.5A.
Either way, no harm will be done.

Ehh ? Then why do we have a 1.5A Charger ?
It isn't that good for the battery to charge to fast. at least for long battery life.

cables
I'm planning to buy a quick charger for my Z3. Maybe i'll buy this one. I just want to know, what cable should i use? or will the default cable of the Z3 would enable quick charge? Here is the charger i'm planning to buy. Is quick charge cable dependent as well? can't find any post about the cables.
http://www.pure-gear.com/extreme-usb-wall-charger-849.html
I thought it was a Quickcharger (EP880), the one that came with the phone.
It is EP881.
If you buy a EP881, they give you a EP880 power adapter(this already comes with the phone) and a different looking usb cable. so i would say if you buy a z3 you already have a quick charger. someone in the z3 compact forums confirms this here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/accessories/magnetic-dock-quick-charger-t2926784
also if you google EP881 you can see multiple images of the EP880 power adapter.
i hope this clears up any confusion
EP880 is not a Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 charger
FYI, just received a Qualcomm Quick charge 2.0 compatible charger and the Z3 definitely takes advantage of it. I have the Tenergy Turbo charger and the light is blue for normal charging and green for Quick charge 2.0. The only downside is it doesn't seem to work using the magnetic charging port, only directly into USB.
Roughly how fast do you get a full charge?
I read that with 2.0 it rapid charges to ~65% and then normal rate.

Not sure since I only had it on for a little while testing today. No I don't feel like running down my battery and testing it, it takes to long to run down the battery
It absolutely, definitely charges at QC 2.0 speeds though, but only via the USB directly into the phone, not through the magnetic charger.

proof? sony seem to think they are considering when you buy EP881 you buy is actually a combination of EP880 and a usb cable.
did you buy an EP881? if so what model number is on the brick?

they are "quick charge" but not Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 spec. Maximum output for the EP880 is 5v 1500mA. Quick Charge 2.0 charges at 5v 2000mA (2A) or 9v 2A, or 12v 1.5A

ah ok that now makes sense, Sony should make this clear. it is already hard enough to find information about all of this.
Guys,
Charger provided with my Sony Xperia z3 got short circuit (burning smell from the head piece) on the 1st charge itself. It was replaced in the sony service center. The issue is, the output the replaced charger was 5V-1500mAH. I forgot the output rating the charger provided in the box. Please confirm the output rating by the pic. Based on your inputs, I will raise a request to my retailer to provide. Please find the rating of the replaced charger.
Yes mine is 1500 as well out of the box. Sorry your pic don't load. Can you tell me model number of your charger?

If my memory stands correct, box version of the charger rating was mentioned as 3000mAh or 2000mAH. I might have misread it in the frenzy of getting Z3 and I am the 1st buyer in Chennai, atleast that's wat the retailer told me.
I forgot to take a snapshot at tat time. My USB cable version is EC803 and Charger (provided by service center) is EP880. I have searched throughout the internet and no where the output rating of Z3 box version of charger was mentioned.
Are u sure that the box version of Sony Xperia Z3 (D6653 LTE) has the same output rating of 1500mAH. Thanks in advance.

I really wish Sony would have included a quick charger in the box....
I am disappointed that the quick charge is not working with the magnetic charging port... did you try using the adapter or the usb cable when you tested if it charged faster with the magnetic port?

"quick charge" or charging at 5v 2A (2000mA) works through the magnetic charging port. This is still very fast.
Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0, which charges at 9v 2A does not work through the magnetic port, which is not a surprise to me.

You already got it ?
Do not bother with quick charge 2.00, although snapdragon 801 support it I don't think our z2 software has that enabled.
Why I am saying that is because the maximum charging current the z2 draws is 1.50 amps (measuring it with one of these)
I've tried different chargers (oneplus charger, anker charger which both capable of 2 amps) and different cables and always the max is 1.50

Yes, I know about that already and I mentioned that in my comment. But as I said the z2 maxes out at 1.5 amps I think because of software limit.
I really hope this QC 2.00 get working in the z2 because it takes a lot of time to charge this phone fully.

Is that on a dead battery? Current flow will settle down as the battery reaches more charge for safety.
I use a 1A charger from my old HTC phone with the dock at night, but it doesn't feel to me like my Sony wall charger is any faster. In fact, it feels slower. The quickest charges I got were actually through my desktop, my motherboard has a charging feature on the USB 3.0 ports.

Ah sorry, guess I read wrong.
But as Sony and Qualcomm say the Z2 is QuickCharge compatible I think it should be working.
You can't see more than 1.5A because you do not have a QuickCharge 2.0 charger! And even if you would and then plug this USB anpereMeter in between it might block the data transfer making the phone think it is connected to a standard USB port.
I'm not even sure if QuickCharge 2.0 CAN draw more than 1.5A! We only know that it allows up to 9V or 12V.
There are 3A or 4A 9V chargers around. But I don't know how much the phone would want to get.
BTW. With Doomkernel and FastCharge enabled you should be able to demand more than 1.5A... I think up to 2A was available in FauxApp
But I think I failed when I tried. Not sure anymore... ^^ been a while.
Hi, does our g5 charger support qc 3.0 ? Output is rated at 5V 1.8A and 9V 1.8A and that is QC 2.0
quote : '' Specifically, Quick Charge 3.0 offers a more granular range of voltages: 200mV increments, from 3.6V to 20V. That way your phone can target one of dozens of power levels. ''
So we need to buy another qc 3.0 charger to use this qc 3.0 technology ?
QC 3.0 charger specs:
Output: 3.6-6.5V/3A 6.5V-9V/2A 9V-12V/1.5A
this is so stupid, and I was wondering where is that 80% in 35mins they are talkin bout......

No it doesn't support QC 3.0. The QC logo is missing and "Fast Charge" isn't the same.

Indeed, the LG G5 supports QC 3.0. But the bundled wallcharger doesn't (maybe different depending on purchase region).
I got the LG MCS-H05ER (European plug type C) bundled with my phone. It provides either 9V 1.8A or 5V 1.8A. When I use that one, there is no indication of fast charging on the phone. When I use the separately purchased QC 3.0 compatible wallplug Aukey PA-T14 (3.6V-65.V @ 3A; 6.5-9V @ 2A; 9-12V @ 1.5A) the phone shows a notification about fast charging.
I think it's relevant which cable is used for QC 3.0. I've bought an 1.8m USB-C cable where fast charging doesn't work at all. With the original USB-C cable which was bundled QC 3.0 works.
Best wishes,
Alex
