4.4.4 Flashable Rom (with root) for different regions - Xperia Z2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

From Canada using the unbranded Canadian (North American) region firmware (4.4.4 stock).
My question is, will I run into any issues if I flash a rooted Rom of 4.4.4 (I believe the two roms available are both based off the RUssian region firmware)?
Or are all regions essentially the same apart from apn settings, etc?
Should I wait until someone builds a 4.4.4 rooted flashable zip based off the north American region firmware?
Any info is appreciated. Thanks in advance

Bootloader is locked, but is unlockable. I've already backed up my ta partition when I rooted 314, but prefer to keep my bootloader locked anyways. At least until my 1 year warranty runs out through Sony.

Upgrading to 4.4.4 on LB from 314
1. Flash 4.4.4 Rom Of your choice
2. Flash superSU just incase
~You can try flashing Nut's dual recovery (not sure if it works)
3. Use flashtool to Flash a 4.4.4 FTF excluding system.sin

I'm already on 167 stock though. I updated through pcc. So I guess I have to downgrade to 314 in order to root and flash a recovery.

Made my own pre-rooted flashable zip. It's 167 stock, but with root. There's a guide on here how to do it. Very simple and works great!

[Q] Flashing from .532 rooted to 757 work?

Soo... I have a Bell C6806. My question to all the great devs out there: Is it possible to flash from the .532 stock rooted to .757 stock rooted? When flashing do I flash both the zipable file and the tft or can I just go into TWRP flash the zipable and that's it?

The simple answer is to sell the Bell and buy a real c6806
The other way is to follow one of the several 757 threads for LB (locked bootloader). They should work for the Bell

It's been too long since I played with a locked bootloader, but follow the instructions in the thread. You will need both files from memory one is the system the other is the kernel and baseband etc

if your flashing for a branded device then flash T-Mobile-USA
as for unbranded if you cant find for your device then you can simply flash for any country,
latest firmware version is 314(cant remember rest but last 3 numbers)

[Q] is it safe to flash a general/non branded stock ftf to a branded Z2 ?

i didn't explain my last post good enough so this is the straight question
i have a unlocked branded (UK O2) Z2, and i want to flash a stock general/unbranded ftf, is that safe ?
Yes
As simple as yes because i have a 3 UK Z2 but it has a Generic Tiwan FTF flashed to it
Will you get generic/unbranded OTA updates after that?

[Q] new firmware disable my root?

hey there!!
so i have the SGP521, and i understood that if i want to root it i need to flash older version of the firmware, so as it. - i did it! i installed the 17.1.A.2.69 firmware, and i rooted it sucseccfuly! but now i want to update it's firmware to the latest, and i don't know if it possible, that i will flash a new firmware and keep my device ROOTED. (i'm using Flashtool).
is there a way to only "update" the firmware without wiping the root (and maybe without wiping the user data too..)
thanks!
Tal.

Having read these three threads, I don't know and it seems the 511 trick works for the 512. Don't know if it will do the 521.
I'd like to know of the lollipop update coming will be rootable or kill root.

But i will wait for the lollipop update too (hope it will not kill the battery, like it does on almost every phone it's installed on)
but thanks very much for the help!!

Help rooting Z2 tablet

Hey guys!
Ive been trying to figure out how to go about rooting my tablet but since I am new at this stuff I just want to make sure I dont **** up
My questions are:
1. My tablet is 5.0.2 atm, as far as I know I have to downgrade to be able to root?
2. If I need to downgrade I believe I need a FTF file, I have a LTE version which is bought in sweden. Do I need a specifik FTF file for my country or can I use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2741233to downgrade my tablet?
3. Can i still use this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2792056 to root my device after I downgraded the firmware or is it outdated? If its outdated is there any updated guide I can use?
Any help is appreciated!

1. There is this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/one-click-root-tool-android-2-x-5-0-t3107461. But it ain´t give proper root and there is also some security concerns with it but your decision.
2. Yes. You need FTF file which is 4.4.2 firmware for you device. Latest rootable is 17.1.2.A.0.314. Here is download link for SGP 521 if you want. https://mega.co.nz/#!cN5ykLrL!0w38j4lWIHFm1rZdwexScG9Cpz2BghrSZPpLRkyTcL8 . However your link should work also. If you only use it for rooting it don´t have to be for your region.
3. Your link would work for rooting properly. However there is other methods too.
4. After you achieved root just install custom recovery for you device and flash latest prerooted firmware for your device with it and you are good.

There is no need to unlock bootloader if you just want to root your device. Bootloader unlocking is needed if you want to try custom kernels or roms that use custom kernels. And yes this work for your device also.

OK so with a locked bootloader I can downgrade to 4.4.2 for my region model root using kingroot..? Then install a custom recovery without having an unlocked bootloader then flash Pre rooted ftf lollipop ROM build. Is the updated kernel and firmware in the Pre rooted stock ROMs? Thanks.

Yes you can downgrade to 4.4.2 firmware with locked bootloader. After that you don´t need kingroot to root your device because @[NUT]´s dualrecovery pc installer can root your device before it install custom recovery. After that you can flash prerooted firmware (= .zip file) with custom recovery. Usually prerooted stock roms has whole firmware including kernel. Their also include SuperSu and custom recovery. And there is no need to unlock your bootloader in any step for this unless you want to do that.
OK so I flashed a ftf file from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3061431 I don't think its right as its for HK etc. A 4.4.2 ftf. 17.1.a.2.402 HK/sa/as/kw.
I was on 23.1.A.1.28 in the UK as O2 UK being the 4g network. But according to that thread the 23.1.a.1.28 I was on is generic HK so I'm confused. How can I get back to my original then? Thanks

OK thanks I did it without the ta partition like suggested but wasn't sure if it was 100% correct. Should all be fine though. I'm currently now rooted and all fine but what I want to do is have a Pre rooted flashable zip of my ftf I've made so it is my actual stock ROM I'm running. I've looked into the prfcreator but don't wanna do it and run the risk of bricking my z2 tab. Have you used prfcreator? I guess all I need is my ftf file to use. The most update supersu zip I want. And then I need to somehow have the xzdualrecovery.zip but not sure if that's all I need or if I need the current Sony signed kernel or what. Thanks

Must admit reading up more looks pretty straight forward as I just use NUTz xzdualrecovery flashable zip as the recovery zip. I'm just unsure on whether I would need to check kernel otakernel modem and ltalabel for our device. Thanks

Depending what you want but if you include everything else but signing you end up to fully functional prerooted firmware.

Sorry mate if I use my ftf and super su.zip and xzdualrecovery.flashable.zip then add all checks do I also have to get it signed? Or I can do all checks and not need signing and it will be fine...? Sorry mate first time and all just trying to work out different things thank you.

No need to be sorry. You don't need to sign your zip because TWRP can handle unsigned zip files just fine. There is nothing wrong to sign your zip file but some times it can cause problems. Your choice.
