Ok got a question?
First off I am by no means new to the android dev community as I have developed a rom for the sgs-II for At&t before my when in the toilet, anyways I am now on a Telus Samsung galaxy note I717D running:
Android 4.1.2
Baseband Vers. i717dTLMD1
Kernel Vers. 3.0.31-1112295
Build number: JZO54K.I717DTLMD1
TWRP RECOVERY
The phone is not rooted as far as it tells me however I am able to flash any rom I want through twrp recovery. anyways I am using tmobile sim
the question is this has any one flashed a tmobile or at&t modem/radio onto a Telus phone with any luck? if not any recommendations on getting better signal cause mine is **** at this point when I switched my sII to tmobile my signal was pretty decent not the best but still good.
Ok so after a couple of days and np responses i guess i am off to expirment city and will try what i ever o get my hands on and will report back to let others know

Have you found anything?
Hi, I was wondering if you have found anything with this? I also have the Telus Note i717D on the 4.1.2 Jelly Bean and am having a hard time finding a working root.

Hi there,
From my understanding of your comment you're trying to root your phone correct? If so, I can suggest you check http://www.kingoapp.com. The reason why I suggest it is because it's pretty easy to do; it is how I rooted my i717. Check it out and if you'd like try it.. it's kind of like a one click root way to go about rooting your phone, if you'd like to try obviously.
Cheers,

Thanks! I will check it out! I had found only one other rooting method for this phone and it did not properly root.
I'm not happy with this releases installed software and would like to root my Verizon Note II. It's on 4.4.2 ND7. Also will I be able to unlock my bootloader so I can install CWM or TWRP and install custom roms? Thank you.

You dont... no root method available right now. Even if there were root. There's no unlock method for bootloader after 4.3. You are stuck with what verizon has given you for now, possibly forever.

I see. That really sucks.
There's a rom out there that's a rooted 4.4.2 ND7. Would I be able to flash this with Odin to gain root without causing any issues to the bootloader?
Sent from my SCH-I605 using XDA Free mobile app
No. That's for people who never took the 4.3 update and got to unlock their bootloader. If your running mj9 or nd7 your stuck there.

Ok thank you. Guess I'll wait and see if Verizon has a change of heart. Doubtful.

Yeah it sucks. I got mine used, running 4.3. And that's where I'll stay til further notice. Gl

Another Question
Anyone care to verify that this is legit and works to root the Verizon Note II 4.4.2? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GBP1Ql7wck4 . I see that there is the ability to download the root file for the VZW Note II on 4.4.2. I will do some more research. If anyone tries it please report your findings. Thanks.
My guess is no. Anything you find on rooting or flashing recovery is highly unlikely to work on the vzw note 2. Thanks for nothing, verizon.

I'm in the same situation, and I'd just like to rattle the bars of this jail cell VZW has put us Note II 4.4.2 OTA folks in. The SD card write lock is a ridiculous overreach in the name of "security."
I hear that. I don't know about anyone else's phone but after I updated to ND7 my phones been buggy. Fails on sending texts and general locking up. I've factory reset it twice and have 2.7gb available on the internal storage. Come on somebody!

In the same boat here. Bought used, already updated. I didn't think there was an [upper class] Android device right now that couldn't be modified, so I didn't know to research first... I just came to the threads right before buying and saw the dev was booming so figured I was good.
Did VZ drop the ball here or are all carriers having this issues with the Note 2?
Root unavailable?
So basically I can't root the phone? I want to be able to use some apps that require root, is there a way to root without messing with the bootloader or not? Mobilodin maybe? I also have that 4.4.2 OTA nightmare. Thanks
There is no root.

There is root now... At least, it works for me. I modified [source code based on] towelroot, fixed a few things for our phone, and called it GhettoRoot. No one has tested it except me.
Feel free to try it, usual warnings apply... Check my thread in the General forum. I can't link anything or post in the development forums.

Its out now. Works like a charm. Just used it. I don't even have a carrier anymore. My note 2 is just an expensive skype phone, and I plan to redesign the looks of this rom.
Ive been sitting in mj9 with root being apparent is the update worthwhile?

YES, most definitely, IMO, I don't have to upgrade to the note 4 ASAP now.

Boo-tloader
Anyone devised a way to unlock this god forsaken bootloader? Verizon has overstepped their bounds imho. No 3rd party write access to sd? That's just ridiculous. Also, cyanogenmod would be great, but safestrap doesn't work now. Anyone have anything in the works? I would be willing to test anything available. I'm running I605VRUFND7 on the KOT49H kernel, and have plenty of experience with Odin, so no worries over bricking at the moment. Also, there is still a bounty out for anyone that can unlock it. Not so much a fortune, but imagine the fame? Thanks in advance.

The above link was some troubleshooting I went through to get root on my Galaxy Note 2 i605 w/ ND7 4.4.2. I was hoping to get TWRP or CWM on it but all attempts have failed. From what i'm gather it just not possible at this time.
Has anyone found away to unlock the bootloader so we can load recovery and put on custom ROMs???
please say yes!!!
Sorry for starting a new thread. I'm overwhelmed with all the reading and corrections. Hopefully someone can help me.
1. Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 (MODEL)SCH-I545
2. Running KitKat 4.4.2
3. Build: VRUFNC5
I rooted my Galaxy S3 so if I have everything I need I should be able to handle it. I prefer to do it from my PC if possible.
I'm currently downloading THECOMPLETEPACKAGE but it's massive @2.3GB
Google towel root. It's an app you install with one click root.

Can you help????
I downloaded new software update the other night. Now my phone is unrooted somehow.... On top of all that when i try to reroot my phone it says THIS PHONE IS NOT SUPPORTED. I been using towelroot for about the past 3 or 4 months. I don't understand
The Towelroot method only works with the nc5 and nc1 kernel i believe, not ng6.
Hey guys and girls, I have a question for any of you pretty comfortable with SafeStrap...so, I'm helping someone with an update/upgrade - trying to get them to be able to run KitKat ROMs via SafeStrap on his Verizon S4. But first, I need SafeStrap working again.
OK, basically I brought him from MK2 to NC2 using @Surge1223's method and am now on NC2 (I guess its the rooted- leaked version?)
So...my question is, HOW IN THE WORLD do I get SafeStrap back onto his phone while running on NC2? (All I see are links upon links about SS on NC5)
Thanks SO MUCH to anyone who can help me out here... And yes, I've tried reading and reading...no luck yet

I just did a bit of searching and it seems NC2 is just the leaked version of NC5 and all that changed was a couple apps and a menu. That is secondhand information and may be incorrect I suppose. In any case, I have a NC5 build and used the exact Safestrap APK that I use for my device on my brother in laws S5. I reckon as long as you root/SuperSU/busybox/safestrap you should be good.

No. I said it was secondhand information and I could be wrong. I dont suppose I am though. But I might be. If it were my phone I would try it but I have soft bricked my s4 about four or five times now and am pretty comfortable fixing it so I dont hesitate to try new things. That is just me though.
Jesus loves you!
Hello there everyone,

Thank you all.
Me too. Anyone please help.

It typically matters about which build number of your software you're on. Typically, the Sprint S4 has always been rootable by installing a custom recovery and flashing Chainfire's SuperSU zip. He also created the CF AutoRoot, which works for that phone as well, but not sure if he updated it to work on the particular update you're on, since you didn't mention it.
