Previously, I tried to use an Adata class 10 32GB micro SD and mounts2sd to work around the small data partition problem.
It might be the slowness of that card (pasted the benchmark by Crystaldiskmark), my Evo 3D starts to lag that I have to move the application data back to the data partition of the phone's eMMC. The read write speed using A1 SD Tool is 19.33MB/s and 10.19MB/s.
I bought another Sandisk Ultra 64GB micro SD and benchmarked it using Crystaldiskmark and A1 SD Tool. The read speed using Crystaldiskmark is above 40MB/s, but the read speed tested using A1 SD Tool is 20.50MB/s. The write speed tested using A1 SD Tools is 9.17MB/s, which is even lower than the original card.
I would like to get a micro SD, maybe even a Sandisk Extreme Plus, but I am afraid that there is an IO limit on the micro SD card slot, which is a hardware limitation.
Any pointers? Thanks!

Hey guys
Recently I got a new 8Gb Kingston microSD as a present. On it, it says the card is class 4, which should be faster than the one we get with our HDs. Copying to and from it seems dreadfuly slow for some reason, slower than the sandisk one. Is there any special way to format it to gain more speed, or special setting for the format? Thanks.
If someone wrote от a label: speed is xxx, it does not mean, that this card is really fast. And, as far as I know you cannot increase your card speed by software.
Sandisk is more trustful for me than Kingston. I don't insist, just my own experience.
As a matter of fact, when I got my HD, card included was class 6 Transcend, fast enough.
Of course you can try full format, say, using a Big Brother's cardreader.
while formating try changing cluster size to 64kb instead of 32kb default
hopefully it will solve the problem ......
There is a speed bottle neck on the phone. So the speed of SD Card is not so important on phone rather tban on compufer. If I am not wrong, HTC HD phone max out at class 2
Looking for people who have benchmarked their sd cards.
I have a fairly old 32gb generic sd card, it doesn't even have a speed rating on it.
I want to use bootmanager but I'm not sure this old card is fast enough to boot off of. I'm testing with SD tools on my tbolt
I get about 6 mb/s write speed
I get about 7-9 mb/s read speed in SD tools,
I know class 10 cards can vary wildly in performance and quailty
I am wondering if anyone has recommendations for the best quality card
with the highest read/write speeds, I want to get a new card but I don't want to pay a lot of money for a card that is only marginally better than mine.
i just downloaded that program to help you out,
got
7.0 read speed (peak was 8.6)
17.6 write speed
I am a long time user for boot manager and havent had any lag issues with this sd card
sd card is
32 gb
sandisk
class 4
came with my tbolt
I'm using a 32 GB Class 10 SanDisk's microSD, and I knew that SD accelerator apps improve SD/Phone performance, but also I read about risks about use that apps. Is it true that are risk on SD card?
The only thing I can imagine is that they increase write access so that it dies faster.
Sent from my HTC Desire X using xda premium
if your experiencing slow sd card write/read speeds then you can try but i have read in other forums it decreases the life of memory card i use a class 6 8gb and my experience is just great :victory:

why would you need a sd-booster for a class10 mem. card?? there is no need, I got class 6 & performance is more than fine & if you use some booster, its goona decrease card's life..
Mini Review:
All these cards come at the speeds they're advertised at. HOWEVER, and this is very important!: It should be noted that the R/W speeds will differ greatly depending on if you're running exFAT or NTFS.
Benchmarks:
See below for the speeds, though you should keep in mind that your average tablet or phone will most likely throttle the speeds since the voltage output is way lower than on a desk/laptop.
Benchmarks for 128GB 45MB/s, 128GB 80MB/s, 200GB 90MB/s using exFAT:
Benchmarks for 128GB 45MB/s, 128GB 80MB/s, 200GB 90MB/s using NTFS:
I use my trusty Silicon Power USB 3.0 AIO card reader for these tests in case anyone is curious. See attached pictures below for reference when buying say off shady sites or retailers as fakes are easy to come by.
Thanks for the info!
Do you think there is any advantage in getting a microSD card with faster Read/Write speed. such as the Samsung Evo+ or Pro? or is the Read speed limited by the Shield K1's microSD slot?
If you are using marshmallow (6.0) the faster write speeds can be advantageous when using the SD card as internal storage. Apps on the SD card will use the SD card for writing temp files.

Depends on what you're after really. If you only plan on filling it up with Plex/media content, then speed shouldn't be an issue for most once it's there. But if you plan on writing 100GB worth of content back and forth daily, then I would recommend a faster sdcard.
If you plan on using it as internal storage in conjunction with the internal one (feature introduced with 6.0) then I would also recommend a faster card so it matches the eMMC onboard storage speed since it's faster than this sdcard I currently have, not to mention if you plan on gaming (Android and or Shield only games) a lot on this device. For emulathors and stuff this card is enough.
Has anybody some experience with one of those?
-SanDisk Extreme Pro microSDXC (up to 95MB/Sec, Class 10, U3)
-Kingston SDCA3/64GB microSDHC/SDXC (UHS-I U3, 90R/80W)
According to this fairly recent comparison and benchmarks, they are one of the best:

I will hopefully update the thread with the 128GB 80MB/s version as of tomorrow as I managed to snag one for a little over 50€ (Remember, EU here! We have no luxury with 200GB microSD cards being sold for the same price or having 1 gallon of whatever costing the same as 1L of equivalent substance).
edit: no package until monday... sadface.jpg.
poo any decent 64gb cards? was looking at the Samsung evo or SanDisk Ultra 64 GB up to 80 Mbps
@ady702: actually yes.
I made a short benchmark of my 64GB Kingston card (that I mentioned above already):
Results: SD Card - Performance comparison ExFAT vs. NTFS (Benchmark)

so the Kingston would be better than the other two? or is it down to the formatting?
It just means, the Kingston is good.
Though, the thread particularly only tells you that you should format sd cards as NTFS.
I just purchased a Mate 20 Pro along with a 256GB NM card.
Only to find out that the card is "very, very slow"
I ran some tests with it using both a card reader, as well as in the phone, using an app called SD Card Speed Test Pro.
Which is showing read/write speeds of aproximately 60 MB/s read and 30MB/s write.
I tested the same card using CrystalDiskMark and found that it measured 89 MB/s read and 73MB/s write
Having done this, and in an attempt to narrow down the problem, I have tried the following;
Reset the phone to factory default
Formatted the card using PC
Formatted the card using the phone
Changed the size of the test files between 50mb and 1GB
Changed the number of simultaneous file access(r/w threads to) from 1 to 3
Turning-on high performance mode on the phone
None of which have made a difference.
Having said that, could anyone help confirm how there own Mate 20 Pro's perform using the same benchmark tool?
Huawei NM card specs say 90 MB/s read speed.
87MB/s write
83MB/s read
It's what I've got with sd card speed test pro with nm 128gb (specs 90MB/s)
Where did you bought your nm 256 ?

Can you share your settings for the test?
I purchased it from Aliexpress, it came with a scratch confirmation code of authenticity that was verified against Huawei's website.
I took photo's and sent them in to Huawei's support - they confirmed it was legitimate
And so it would appear something is wrong with the card itself.
No setting at all. Card is just insert

Sorry I meant to say, what settings in the software "SD Card Test Pro"
Internal SD Card
File size to read/write (in MB):
Removable SD Card
File size to read/write (in MB):
Number of file(s) read/write concurrently(1...10)
[ ] use max free space as file size if available
Default settings, i've just hit start
Is it possible to convert the SD card same merge with the internal memory of the phone to 1 memory in the phone?
