Hey Boldnuts,
Can you help out on the upgrade process?
I was using HairyBean 2.31 and installed everything as described on the first post. Then, I upgraded TWRP to 2.7.0.0 Geass for F2FS. Now, I would like to go to KatKiss 5 with F2FS support.
According to the OP of KatKiss 5 at the TF300 forum, it says that you should be on TWRP 2.8. Do I really need to update to that? If so, would it be a straight flash update of the TWRP 2.8 zip file from my current setup? What about the bootloader that came with HairyBean (4.2.1)? Would it work with that?
Thanks!

Never mind. I figured it out.

I am also using hairybean 2.31 with the f2fs file system...using the HUND kernal 3.4.5 and TWRP 2.7. I am not very experienced at flashing Roms but can read instructions well. Would you be able to post step by step instructions on how to get Android 5 on my tf201? Does the ROM run as well as Hairybean and stable enought to be used as a daily ROM? Would love to have lollipops on this having tablet.
Thanks

KatKiss Lollipop is *amazing* on the TF201 - much, much faster than any Kitkat ROM I've tried.
If you're already running Kitkat all you need to do is flash the ROM, flash the TF201 compatibility pack and then flash Gapps (if you wish).
Took me 25 mins last night and I'm very, very impressed.
Some stuff might not work but everything is fast and stable.
This actually makes my TF201 usable!

And I am still sitting here trying to get my Prime unlocked after RMA, the world is bad...

How I flashed KatKiss to TF201
Hi all,
In this post, I have explained how I updated from CROMBi-kk to KatKiss (5.0). And later for stability, I have flashed Grimlock 5 kernel dirty, as @dgcruzing wrote he did on the next post, below mine.
Also, OP @lj50036 wrote the walk-through for coming from stock at first page of the thread.
It is really stable and fast (after Grimlock 5 kernel update). I had only one reboot after more than 3 days and it is fine as I was playing with every bit of the settings.
I hope that helps

Hi All,
Running Katkiss 15b with Grimlock Kernel on my prime and loving how smooth and fast it is now, apart from the occasional lockup... I was wondering if it's possible to install other TF300T roms on the prime such as CM12 or will it just not work at all...

Which one actually? The "Linaro" version or the non one? I'm confused by this.

Pretty sure when I posted that, the Linaro kernel wasn't available. Although I've since moved onto CM12 from the TF300T with the Linaro Grimlock kernel now.

I am running Harrybean 2.31, Bootloader 4.2.1, TWRP 2.5. What files do I need to get to Loolipop? Please advise with links for files and step by step instructions. Greatly appreciated, and thankful to upgrade to Android 5.1

Reverting to Honeycomb works

I just want to share that Turge's method for installing .13 firmware also worked for me with 8.8.3.33 firmware!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1492887
I followed his instructions step by step, rebooted, and found that the blob file from 8.8.3.33 was not accepted.
So i started from the beginning and this time it updated and rebooted to bootloop
I went to boot menu (power + voldown), wiped data and after reboot it started honeycomb setup screen.
My previous FW was .11 OTA and now I am on HTK75.DE_epad-8.8.3.33-20111223

Hi, there is a way how to downgrade ICS to Honeycomb. I used this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1492887&highlight=ddfrom and changed it
1.Ensure you have root
2.Download UpdateLauncher_US_epaduser8_8_3_33.zip
3.Extract files from within zip
4.Copy "blob" file to root folder removable Micro SD card or some other folder
5.Through ADB shell or Terminal Emulator, run the following: (takes about 5 minutes)
su
dd if=/Removable/MicroSD/blob of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p4
Reboot and let it update and wipe data !!!

Good news, for those who want to go back to HC. I like ICS alot and IMO way better all around than HC. If I were to revert back that would allow me to play Modern Combat 3 on the prime again though lol don't like games that much to revert to older firmware, especially if the one I'm on now is working great for me.
You do know that we have a new firmware coming out later this week or early next week, right?

Nice. I will have to check that out in few. After everyone else tries it though.
I did this the other day and I was bored . I went from ICS 9.4.2.13 to HC 8.8.3.29. I tried all of them .11 to .7, .7 to .33 and so on (I told you I was bored). Also did the US to WW and back, it worked.
IMO: The best one for me and pretty good Wi-Fi is 9.4.2.11.1. The 9.4.2.13 firmware (for me) really weaken my Wi-Fi. 4 foot from the router and the singal was s***. All the firmwares before .13 were very good to me....

How to flash prime back to stock?

How do i take the prime back to stock? (Stock kernel, ROM, and no cmw)
Thank you!
I'm no expert, but I've read a few threads that seem to indicate because ASUS hasn't released "NVFLASH" you will not be able to re-lock your device at this time.
It's a bummer, as I remember how easy it was to re-lock my A500, but it just makes you think a bit more before unlocking.

I dont mean relocking it, i mean unrooting it, removing CWM, and restoring the stock ROM.
I'd love to do this as well - anyone know how?
be careful with this, so far there is no way without hard bricking your tablet and there is no recovery for that. just keep checking the dev section until a real way to restore stock found.
Stock rom and kernel isn't the problem. There is already one up in the dev section. So far as I know though there isn't a way to get stock recovery back...

TF201, upgrade to .21 after rooting by downgrade: no update by OTA?

Hi,
I've finally been able to root my TF201 (unlocked) by the downgrading method but now I'm stuck on build v.15 and OTA says there is no update for me?
I tried to stop/clear CMclient and DM client, cold reboot..; but no way. I know that upgrading by adb will kill the rootkeeper.
Did I miss something? no OTA update for the last 24 hrs. On ASUS device tracker, my device is upgraded to .21 maybe the problem come from here.

If you unlocked your tablet, you wont get any OTA updates.
this is what I found out. Not an issue, it's still possible to upgrade by adb but then root is lost . I need root... so...
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using xda premium
You've obviously researched the subject. Is there some reason why downloading the .21 update from Asus support pages and unzipping it 1 level to place the extracted zip file in the root of a micro SD card and rebooting won't update?
Hi,
It will update but the rooting will be lost. Even with Root keeper. (well, I did not try the SD card way)
If your unlocked you should not get official ota updates.
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2
This is what I understand. Will root be lost even if I update by the zip on /sdcard?
I may give a try to CM9...
If you are unlocked you will not loose root when you flash a zip (CM9) through recovery to a new ROM.
stock at 9.2.1.15
hi everyone, just wanna share this and ask something too...
so i thought that i could upgrade from .15 to .21 after unlocking my device, but found out that it was impossible. correct me please if i'm wrong...
i had no choice but to just leave it like that (.15) then install AOKP..
Are there any downside of being stock in .15? or is it still possible to do OTA update in a very safe possible way in the future?
Thanks....
If you downgraded to .15 make sure that you put the right blob on your prime so that you will be able to get the ota back to .21. If you use the wrong blob file than you will not get the ota.

skarfreak: you can upgrade manually to .21 but root will be lost.
I'm back to stock .15 rooted. I tried CM9 but so far not totally stable (crash of desktop?, drop wifi in standby...., no isp mode, not mouting sd card or usb stick etc..) . Hoping some progress both from CM9 and root for stock.

havent you tried AOKP? i think i'll stick to AOKP atm, improves my tab a lot, can play GAMELOT games now.. quick boot.., but i think theres a little wifi issue.. anyway, there will be greater tweaks in the near future..
To emphasise - if you unlocked (as in bootloader unlocked) then you must never attempt to install the official ASUS firmware (either by OTA or other means). If you try, you will brick your prime.
Once unlocked, updates need to be by community ROMs only.
Please be specific about the distinction between rooted and unlocked, and be careful when giving advice that might brick someone's device unless you are sure you understand the advice you are giving.

Do You know if there is a chance for the separate thread in development section, when this goes stable?
For now, these are unoficial test builds, it's named for TF300T but works on Prime.
Do all 300 roms work with the 201 then? I've only been watching the TF201 thread, as has been said, little to no kitkat mentions.

As far as I know - no. Roms should be prepared for the current devices.
However, this situation is diffrent - we have a beta-tester, who pointed what is working and I was lucky to boot succesfully.
I am no dev, but installing any rom from diffrent device without proper porting should end up in bootloop or softbrick.
Mate, don't try it without nvflash backup!
Scary!!

Any f2fs recovery for kitkat
In addition to the available kitkat ROMs for the tf201, does anyone know if there are any recoveries that can be used to format the partitions to f2fs as that seems to be hot right now?
Then we would also need to know what ROMs can operate with f2fs.
CM11 & Slimkat
I tried both 4.4.2 Crombix and Slimkat from TF300T. Remember that this is still work in progress, so take it easy.
The CM11 based one is very good for a daily driver, two developers cooperate closely and there even is a choice for diffrent kernels.
I think Slimkat deserves Your attention because of the smoothness. You get a chance to instal something diffrent, for long time unavailable for our devices. It provides some new user experience, so worth taking it on board. Also good contact with the dev, worth a try
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2657847 :good:
Crombi has power profiles and dock battery indicator, which Slimkat hasn't atm.

Did you have to do anything special to get it flashed? I just went through all the steps of getting a NVFlash backup so my bootloader says 10.4.2.15-20120917 A03. I was on stock 4.1.1 rooted for ages and this thing has been collecting dust but I figured I would get it usable for my daughter to use on trips. I followed the instructions on androidroot.mobi to get all my backups and then I installed TWRP v2.7.0.0-Voyagery2k_v.1.2 and when I try to install SlimKat I get a error of getprop = TF300T so I'm not sure if I have to edit something to get it to flash or what. I also see all the "i bricked my device" threads so I want to proceed with caution. I'm just looking for a fast kit kat ROM since this thing on 4.1.1 was super slow with the amount of data I had on it.
I'm just hoping for a: flash this bootloader (link) flash this recovery (link) and flash this ROM (link) and make sure you do this as well instructions.
Thank you!
