Here are some KitKat ROMs for the TF-201 that you can find under the Eee Pad Transformer Prime Android Development section:
ParanoidAndroid 4.1 BETA 3/6/2014
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2169575
Cyanogenmod 11.0 Unofficial [KOT49H][06/03/14]
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2589554
I have been using the ParanoidAndroid 4.1 BETA on my TF-201 with good results so far.

Crombi-KK booted just fine

Thanks for the info. I succesfully installed this rom. If it's beta, it's quite polished
Do You know if there is a chance for the separate thread in development section, when this goes stable?
For now, these are unoficial test builds, it's named for TF300T but works on Prime.

Do all 300 roms work with the 201 then? I've only been watching the TF201 thread, as has been said, little to no kitkat mentions.

As far as I know - no. Roms should be prepared for the current devices.
However, this situation is diffrent - we have a beta-tester, who pointed what is working and I was lucky to boot succesfully.
I am no dev, but installing any rom from diffrent device without proper porting should end up in bootloop or softbrick.
Mate, don't try it without nvflash backup!

Scary!!

The CROMBI KK ROM has been built for our primes as well as the TF300, even though its in the TF300 dev forum, just make sure you follow the above instructions correctly to get on the right boot loader and twrp recover first

I made a thread for flashing CM11 from the TF300T and it should be adaptable for any of the TF300T roms.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2695329
Hope that it helps.

Thank you,
This will give us a new chance for our primes.

I have flashed SlimKat from the TF300 thread on my Prime. To be completely honest, my Prime has never run as smoothly as it does now with this ROM. I have had zero issues since flashing it. I suppose I may have just been lucky to not run into any issues...

Any f2fs recovery for kitkat
In addition to the available kitkat ROMs for the tf201, does anyone know if there are any recoveries that can be used to format the partitions to f2fs as that seems to be hot right now?
Then we would also need to know what ROMs can operate with f2fs.

CM11 & Slimkat
I tried both 4.4.2 Crombix and Slimkat from TF300T. Remember that this is still work in progress, so take it easy.
The CM11 based one is very good for a daily driver, two developers cooperate closely and there even is a choice for diffrent kernels.
I think Slimkat deserves Your attention because of the smoothness. You get a chance to instal something diffrent, for long time unavailable for our devices. It provides some new user experience, so worth taking it on board. Also good contact with the dev, worth a try
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2657847 :good:
Crombi has power profiles and dock battery indicator, which Slimkat hasn't atm.

Did you have to do anything special to get it flashed? I just went through all the steps of getting a NVFlash backup so my bootloader says 10.4.2.15-20120917 A03. I was on stock 4.1.1 rooted for ages and this thing has been collecting dust but I figured I would get it usable for my daughter to use on trips. I followed the instructions on androidroot.mobi to get all my backups and then I installed TWRP v2.7.0.0-Voyagery2k_v.1.2 and when I try to install SlimKat I get a error of getprop = TF300T so I'm not sure if I have to edit something to get it to flash or what. I also see all the "i bricked my device" threads so I want to proceed with caution. I'm just looking for a fast kit kat ROM since this thing on 4.1.1 was super slow with the amount of data I had on it.
I'm just hoping for a: flash this bootloader (link) flash this recovery (link) and flash this ROM (link) and make sure you do this as well instructions.
Thank you!

Follow the instructions on the latest hairybean thread to flash the "Upgrade Hairybean 2.31 (4.2.1) Bootloader & TWRP (2.5).zip", then flash "TWRP-TF300T-2_7_0_1.zip" from the TF300 dev thread, then flash SlimKat, GAPPS from the TF300 dev thread. With nv flash you shouldn't have anything to worry about, but these are the steps I followed and it worked like a charm! Still loving it!

Installing recoveries and custom ROMs on rooted and unlocked Prime?

Received my Prime today and so far I love it. I couldn't help rooting it and unlocking it, so where do I go from now?
How do I go about installing say Clockworkmod, and do I need it to install custom ROMs? I've read about Androidroot's bootloader, but I don't wanna install it. Seems a bit too dangerous for me to even attempt, especially on a device that's only a few hours old (like 10h).
EDIT: Think I'll go with TeamEOS 3 Jellybean builds.
hi there,
for me the main reason to root and unlock my prime was to run linux on it, using it as allday work machine.
first step was to use a chroot environment under android, second was to try the port of lilstevie.
i think you only need the changed bootloader for that kind of things, otherwise only unlock the device using the
asus tool, and afterwards root it (installing the su apk) by any method around.
for custom roms, you don't have to use one, but they sometimes have cool additional features
hope that gives you a little expression.

[Q] Rooting TF201

A little background before someone reams me for not searching. I got a TF201 32GB from Best Buy (refurb), so yay I am new to the party (albiet very late). This is my first tablet and I just want to make sure I have all my ducks in a row before I attempt to do anything.
My prime is running the latest JB (was hoping it would be ICS when I got it due to what I had been reading here... alas it wasn't). I have read that in order to root this thing I have to unlock the bootloader. I have already downloaded that and installed it (haven't actually run it yet). I have also installed the naked adb drivers on my windows 7 box, and confirmed that I can see my device when i run adb devices. So... off to the questions...
Are there any known issues using the unlock tool to unlock a JB tf201 (Asus site says it is for ICS)?
If I follow this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1929189 should I be good to go?
If so can someone point me to the latest recovery.blob file (I searched for it but it returned a ton of results)?
Thanks!
Only problems using the unlock tool is that some tablets have been unable to unlock with it.
I unlocked from JB using it no probs.
May I suggest using this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1998359
Install TWRP then flash Energy Rom from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1982156 far far better than stock rom
Good luck follow guides and hopefully all will be OK

I second this. While I am still locked for a bit longer due to warranty period I am sure when I unlock I will be using TWRP and Energy Roms. TWRP has the best results according to posts I have read and I have used Energy Roms on other devices and always found them to be superior. The device should be rooted with that replacement ROM.
---------- Post added at 03:17 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:59 PM ----------
Oh and I meant to add that I hope unlocking works for you. The number one group of people having difficulty unlocking are those with repaired (refurbished) systems who's serial number arent in the ASUS database.

So with this method at what point are you rooted? I am unlocked right now. If I flash TWRP and then put a new ROM on like Energy Rom is that when I'll be rooted? With the new ROM? Or is there a way to root while still running stock ROM?
UPDATE: Never mind, I went ahead with it all anyway. Didn't realize that energy rom was basically stock only rooted.

I think N8G would be insulted....... You could have rooted Stock with Urkels Fresh Start but flashing a pre-rooted rom works too.

Energy Rom is based on stock rom but is far from just stock with root. It runs far smoother, faster and responsive.
I agree with hx4700 Killer it is an insult to call it just stock with root
I rooted today using the method in my OP (first updating the blob file to 2.3). Everything went smooth. How good is this Energy ROM? My experience w/ ROMs has left a bad taste in my mouth (droid x2). I don't want to flash it and find out things don't work right.

All I can Give is an Honest Opinion
When I flashed Energy Rom and tested it my first thoughts was " now this is how my prime should have been from the start "
I have flashed many roms on many phones etc mainly for extra features etc but this is first rom where I have undoubtably noticed speed, stability & responsive improvements
Have a read of the thread for Energy rom you will see its just not my opinion
Finally installed Energy. So far it rocks. Let's say asus comes out with a new update and Energy's dev gets hit by a bus. Is there a way to convert the official update into a zip I can install?

Just got the prime, not sure how to proceed

So long story short, I bought a prime off of someone on swappa. It's in great condition and works great, but I have the flashing bug. Normally I'd just start with the usual guides to root and flash, but the device came rooted and with a custom ROM. I know these primes are touchy and don't want to end up with a brick. So here's my current setup, can anyone point me where to go next. My Google fu seems to be weak because I haven't been able to find what I should do.
He used nvflash and I have the files if I need to perform a repair from a brick (his words)
During boot it displays 9.4.2.28 r01 and the tegra logo is in he center of bottom
Twrp 2.3.3.8 is installed
Baked blackbean 6 is installed
Build is JZO54K
Kernel is 2.6.39.4-baked-g94e883f
I think I'm on the ICS bootloader from the posts I've read but didn't see a thread detailing the upgrade process to get to jellybean. Do I need to upgrade to use the current roms?
Thoughts, comments, concerns?
Thanks!

Thanks for the recommendation, I read through the posts, read again and successfully upgraded.
One note future searches, If you don't already have the TF201 drivers downloaded and installed, you'll need to do a google search for "TF201 fastboot drivers" and it'll be the first or second link. You'll need to do this if the device comes up in your device manager with an exclamation point and has no idea what it is. If you get hung up on <waiting for device> it's probably a driver issue.

BAM 4.4 Kit Kat Custom Rom

Has anyone tested BAM on the TF201? If so what were your feelings on it vs CM11?
TF 201 is on BAMs supported Device List
I'm assuming you need to be on the 4.1 bootloader with a working recovery. You install it via the application
BAM Installer
if anyone is on 4.1 and willing to flash you should let me know how it goes. I am on Cromi-X on the 4.2 bootloader so I am hesitant to go through the whole flashing process if the ROM is buggy. Thanks in advanced.

I have been trying to get it install since yesterday. It says it installed successfully using the new TWRP Voyager recovery that is KitKat compatible. The ROM just sits at the Asus screen though for 3 or 4 minutes and won't boot the ROM. I don't know if there is something else I need to do or not. I know I haven't bricked my device as I was able to get back into recovery and install my backup. Anyone have any suggestions???

Ah well that makes sense, we don't want to brick the tab over a possible ROM. How is CM11 though? I had 10.2 for a while but it stuttered too much for my taste. Have you noticed any degradation of overall performance with gaming and videos?

Hey Boldnuts,
Can you help out on the upgrade process?
I was using HairyBean 2.31 and installed everything as described on the first post. Then, I upgraded TWRP to 2.7.0.0 Geass for F2FS. Now, I would like to go to KatKiss 5 with F2FS support.
According to the OP of KatKiss 5 at the TF300 forum, it says that you should be on TWRP 2.8. Do I really need to update to that? If so, would it be a straight flash update of the TWRP 2.8 zip file from my current setup? What about the bootloader that came with HairyBean (4.2.1)? Would it work with that?
Thanks!

Would you be able to post step by step instructions on how to get Android 5 on my tf201? Does the ROM run as well as Hairybean and stable enought to be used as a daily ROM? KatKiss Lollipop is *amazing* on the TF201 - much, much faster than any Kitkat ROM I've tried.
If you're already running Kitkat all you need to do is flash the ROM, flash the TF201 compatibility pack and then flash Gapps (if you wish).
Took me 25 mins last night and I'm very, very impressed.
Some stuff might not work but everything is fast and stable.
This actually makes my TF201 usable!

KatKiss Lollipop is *amazing* on the TF201 - much, much faster than any Kitkat ROM I've tried.

And I am still sitting here trying to get my Prime unlocked after RMA, the world is bad...
How I flashed KatKiss to TF201
Hi all,
In this post, I have explained how I updated from CROMBi-kk to KatKiss (5.0). And later for stability, I have flashed Grimlock 5 kernel dirty, as @dgcruzing wrote he did on the next post, below mine.
Also, OP @lj50036 wrote the walk-through for coming from stock at first page of the thread.
It is really stable and fast (after Grimlock 5 kernel update). I had only one reboot after more than 3 days and it is fine as I was playing with every bit of the settings.
I hope that helps

Hi All,
Running Katkiss 15b with Grimlock Kernel on my prime and loving how smooth and fast it is now, apart from the occasional lockup... I was wondering if it's possible to install other TF300T roms on the prime such as CM12 or will it just not work at all...

Which one actually? The "Linaro" version or the non one? I'm confused by this.
Pretty sure when I posted that, the Linaro kernel wasn't available. Although I've since moved onto CM12 from the TF300T with the Linaro Grimlock kernel now.
I am running Harrybean 2.31, Bootloader 4.2.1, TWRP 2.5. What files do I need to get to Loolipop? Please advise with links for files and step by step instructions. Greatly appreciated, and thankful to upgrade to Android 5.1

A bit too long ago for me to remember sorry and quite an old version of the ROM.
I've given up on my Prime, haven't turned it on for well over a year.

Does anyone out here think that the TF201 will be getting ANDROID 5.0 ? or when we get it in custom Roms ?
