Hello, I have a doubt whether I should use Root or Boost mode on a rooted device (Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5).
I mean, to my understanding Root is optimal for rooted devices, whereas Boost is optimal for non-rooted devices. Correct?
Boost will not work without root. It requires Xposed framework which requires root.
Click the working mode and read the explanations for all the three. If you are rooted, boost seems to be the best, if you have Xposed framework.

Open Greenify and click the menu button (three dots on top right) and then click Experimental Features. In the next window, you will see Working Mode as the first option. Click that and you will get three options with explanation, Root, Non-root and Boost. Click the option suitable to you.

Boost is best for root but only if you have Xposed Framework. Otherwise, plain root mode is good.

If you have root, the xposed framework has an "Advanced power menu" module you can install. That is just one of many solutions but unfortunately you can not add it on to stock without root as far as I'm aware.

No problem yeah stock is very good! Usually I'd have flashed CM or something but stock with xposed is much better

You can have both root and stock. Rooting doesn't necessarily mean you need to install a custom ROM.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2784900 with this tool. its very simple and easy to use.
Thats what i do, keep stock rom, root so i can debloat the stuff i dont want or need and use xposed modules to customise. With all the great modules available i dont feel the need to change roms anymore.
GravityBox an Xposed Modul can do this.
And a lot other modifications to make the stock rom perfect.

How can I install GravityBox and Xposed Modul. I've never read anything about them.
Bear with me this is my first sonny phone lol.
Pardon my ignorance.
Cant remember exactly how i got the xposed framework app, i believe it was prompted from within unicon which is also great module for icon changing
You need Root and the Xposed installer (apk), which will install the Xposed framework
I rooted using easy root method (search). Then backup your TA. Then install/sideload xposed apk (search). It's very simple. Everything takes about 15m.
Root + xposed + stock rom > custom rom
You can also try towelroot (which is just an app you run) to "1 click" root. That takes about 1s. Didn't work for me on the z2, but it has worked for others.

Nexus 5, Lollipop 5.0.2. Greenify always tells me 'something is blocking the Greenify service' but I've got all the services enabled and things like that. I checked accessibility, and the greenify option is unticked. It becomes unticked after every reboot.
I'm using the donation and Xposed package, does anybody have any tips to fix this?
Is your Greenify running in root or non-root mode?
Accessibility service only make sense in non-root mode.

I too am having the same issue on cm12 nightlies. All my greenify experimental settings are getting unticked after reboot. I'm using built-in root with Xposed and donation package
Accessibility setting- Greenify Off
I am using Xiaomi Redmi 1s and I am also facing this issue. I noticed that the setting get unchecked even without reboot. It will run for some time and when I check greenify , it will be showing greenify (no auto-hibernation..) and several apps will be listed under "waiting for manual hibernation". When I go to accessibility setting, Greenify will be off
I have same issue, was there a fix for this?

I think,
you should make SELinux to permissive mode.
Hello,
I have the same issue. When I reboot the phone all experimental features are unticked/unchecked. I use boost mode (I also try with root mode), Greenify 2.6.2. I have the donation and Xposed package. My phone is a Elephone P7000 on Android 5.0, with SuperSU.
Do you have any solution? What is SELinux?
Thanks

I followed this guide and everything seems to work.
ROM should have init.d support
Create the 08setperm
Add the lines... Change the permissions with root explorer and Jet set

In MIUI, you need to whitelist Greenify for auto-start settings. MIUI may block and kill the cleaner service of Greenify unless explicitly whitelisted.

Root method for lollipop for the SM-A700F THIS WILL TRIP KNOX. If you don't want to trip knox don't use this. If you do use it and whine you tripped knox because you didn't read ,we will all point and laugh at you.
Named it TrapKernel because well its not my normal HispAsian Kernel and I listened to a crap ton of Trap Music while doing it.
Thanks to @g.lewarne and his root method with his Unibase and Unikernel for the s6 , we finally have root after I ported it over to us. So be sure to thank him for his work.
What's included:
Auto installation of root and busy box
Kernel set to permissive
Otherwise stock
So here's the deal. Stupid simple.
1. Put Phone in Download mode
2. Open Odin
3. Connect Phone
4. Put Kernel in AP Slot
5.Flash it
6. Reboot and profit
Notes:
Download SuperSu from the Playstore. Its not included.
If at first it doesnt boot, hold the power button til it shuts off and reboot.
To fix wifi passwords= Open build.prop and change ro.securestorage=true to ro.securestorage=false
Download
Do NOT mirror this link. Period.
TrapKernel SM-A700F
Special thanks to:
@g.lewarne for the obvious reason of being awesome and his root method for the s6.
@XperiaNoobie & @nino64 for testing
@Chainfire for SuperSU
Heres the source with it set to permissive if anyone wants to fork it and build a kernel that allows root.

Hey after some research i found out that when your SE is set to permissive you lose the privilege of the private mode as it suggests that your phone isn't safe :/ You can use third-party apps so you can lock your apps though :/

But is there a way to remove the Knox nonsense completely? Getting messages from security center or whatever.
Can that sh*t be removed completely?

I used System App Remover Root. There you can delete root apps.
I delete Smart Manager, and you also have to delete Security Log thing. Otherwise you will keep getting messages.
Now I only need to find out if I can just delete Knox stuff too whats in there.

Hi Friends.
I have searched and read much on how to do this yourself , but unfortunately it seems the framework.jar file is very different for lollipop.
These guides are for KitKat and out dated.
If possible this will make volume increments much more smoother on our phones. I used an xposed module before , but its unsupported now.
If you know of a current guide on how to or know which lines of code to change/edit in AudioService.smali i will greatly appreciate it.
I am not a pro , with these things but really want to learn. :fingers-crossed:

wow, wait, don't use the preset values they are wayyyyy too low for the phone to work properly...
multitasking is generally bad on official lollipop on this phone, if you want a performance boost i suggest you get yourself cm13 (the lastest snapshot build is really good and stable, but of course you will have to go through the process of unlocking your bootloader and flashing twrp which can be risky)..
otherwise (only if you are rooted AND have busybox installed), try to play around with the values yourself instead of using the predefined ones that are no good. also to get better multitaksing, debloat your phone and reconsider if you need stuff like fb messenger etc...
that's all i can tell you about this topic
