I recently traded a friend for a galaxy tab 10.1. On start up, it was in download mode for a good thirty minutes. I became impatient and powered it down to see if I could start it up normally. It wouldnt turn on at all, and the volume down + power button doesnt work either. I really messed up this time.

Howdy Note users...
This is a little tip to help users get out of that annoying "STUCK ON THE SAMSUNG LOGO" issue that we see "ALL" the time.
As you know, the condition is brought on when users get a bad download, the wrong download, or a bad kernel etc...
The normal remedy is pulling the battery out, then waiting, then putting it back in to get your recovery booted. All the while you are having to pull the case apart, causing damage and wasting time.
Here is the trick to get around all of that, and boot into your recovery from the stuck "SAMSUNG" screen.
(First)....simply push both the volume up, and volume down buttons at the same time. ( while the screen is stuck at "SAMSUNG" of course)
(Second)..then push the power button, and hold it..until the device begins to vibrate every 3-4 seconds..
(Third)...allow the device to vibrate 3 times, then release the power button, but continue to hold the volume up/down buttons..
This recovery trick will take about 20 seconds, but the device will boot into your recovery from the stuck screen using this method..
Note: it also works to get you into download mode from the stuck screen, but you only use the volume down, and power buttons in that process...
I hope this helps a few of you in avoiding the battery pulls and the case damage....

This might work for some circumstances, but I flashed a beta recovery once that wouldn't let me boot anything, just sat at the Samsung (bootloader) logo. I had to flash the previous (working) version of recovery in ODIN and all was fine.

No fix works for everyone, or every situation of course ....g
Hey all! Im new to xda-developers I decided to post here because I honestly got alot of help from here already. So anyway, here goes....I used ODIN to flash a new firmware onto my GS2(i9100) and all went well..got the green "PASS" box and whatnot.
Shortly after the phone rebooted but here is where my problem starts. The phone is stuck on the "Glowing S" screen (Picture of a large S animating/changin colours and Samsung Galaxy SII written at the bottom)
It has been sitting here for nearly an hour now. I have tried pressing and holding the power button and battery pulls but to no avail.
I can enter ODIN mode (vol - , HOME, POWER) but I cannot get into recovery. Everytime i press (VOL+,HOME,POWER) the green android robot just sits there for maybe 5 secs and then the phone reboots and gets stuck AGAIN >_<
I don't know what to do Its ok if i need to wipe my data etc bcuz i got backups
My concern is getting my phone in working order again and ASAP because I need my phone for my work
If you can get into download mode just re flash the ROM again, the same thing happened to me and this fixed it

I reflashed a million times (ok 7 times really) but same thing
i reallly REALLY dont want to hear my phone is bricked :/ if i cant sort it out i would carry it in to the local store but they gave me an estimated time of 3 weeks because the owner would be out of town :crying:
Probably just needs a factory reset.
Next time list the firmware(s).Thats more important than an owners holiday arrangements.
Similar problem
My phone is stuck after the Samsung galaxy S2 screen. I took it to the service center but no luck. They said I ll have to flush the software privately because it was bought in Singapore (overseas model) and India software doesn't work or change my complete board to an India board. Any idea on how I can go about fixing it ?
get into recovery & clear data/cache
I have an htc one x. The phone is stuck in bootloop. It stays on the htc logo screen and does nothing. I would like to know how to turn the phone off alltogether. I have tried volume up + power button, volume up and down + power button and that will turn the phone off but seconds later comes back on by itself. I assume i will haveto flash a new rom to it in order to get it to come back on. The phone is rooted but not sure what rom or kernel is or was on it as i have done a factory reset on it. This all started righ after downloading an app?!!?!? Idk. Any advise on how to actually shut down the phone and what the proper way of fixing this this issue.

So i did get the phone shut down so it will have a chance to charge. Next step is, now is my only option to flash a new rom to get past bootloop?
How about posting in the right forum?

I have the international GT-19300 s3 and a few days ago. I installed the latest firmare update. I was on Wifi at work and when the download was
complete. It gave me nothing but a black screen. I think when the download was complete I left the area where the wifi connection was and it
messed up my phone. I tried holding down the home, power and volume button up and it will show 27 percent and then the little android dies and
my phone shuts off. When I push the power button. I only get the s3 galaxy logo and then it immidetaly cuts off. I took it to the shop today and he
said it might be a boot issue so he gave me a link for bootloader, but I do not understand it.
does anyone have a link where i can plug my phone to usb to computer and reboot my phone...
I had my phone 2 years, but I'm not savy with these phone softwares.
thanks

Well, I maybe should have listened. So I had just flashed a ROM on my 6P, set a few things up, it was charged 98%, I downloaded an app, checked an e-mail, then walked away. Then after 30 minutes I went to the phone to check e-mail, and it was dead. I mean, wouldn't boot in any way complete black screen. Hooked up to computer, nothing. No buttons will boot the device.
So ridiculous....a $500 paper weight. Now I have to find a decent Verizon phone with good development to buy.
Well, had fun for 2 months!
Bye Nexus 6P forums!
OK - I held volume down button and power button for almost 3 minutes and it finally booted. This never happened before. Scary, but if this happens to you take note! :silly:
So my phone is unusable and I have to find a new Verizon phone that has good development. Good luck to me - guess I'll have to sacrifice my unlimited data I've had for many years for a phone with a new carrier so I can root it with good development. I hate Verizon.

Unusable how? You just said it booted.
Is your bootloader unlocked? Can you get into bootloader mode? If so, you could try flashing a factory image.
Don't give up so quickly. Your issues might be related to the ROM or something else you installed.
Jeez... Jump to conclusions much? Can we get more info please?

I almost want to say just send it to me because I could almost guarantee I could help get it booted. If when you plug it in to your computer does the computer recognise it at all? Edl mode? Can you enter bootloader or anything?
Since your 6P is only 2 months old, why not use the warranty?

Thanks guys. I was able to revive it again and flashed a different ROM. It would not boot in any way - plugged into my computer, bootloader mode, nothing. Then it went into a bootloop. Finally I got it to boot and flashed an older ROM after transferring the appropriate vendor image to internal from my computer. I'm nervous it will happen again. I will switch to a new ROM now and hopefully won't see this happen again. Very frustrating evening.

i know this is a old post but do you by any chance remember how you got it to boot again. I am having the same problem and after shutdown i was able to turn it on one time by pressing the power button for 30 sec but now it's dead again and wont turn on after long power button press.

did that too. But nothing seems to work.It doesn't even get noticed by pc.
Would you recommend a battery swap.
I remember freaking out when that happened to me. My 6P was dead for like 20 minutes. I kept plugging it in, holding power and volume, etc. I got so mad I banged it against something and created a small dent near the power button, which I lived with for the rest of the year until I bought my OP5T.
Hope you were able to fix it. I kept trying and trying to resuscitate it and finally it booted. :good:
