Hello,
I am contacting for help to install a rom on my tablet Samsung Tab 10.1 GT-P7500 (3G), problems come when I install a newer version of TWRP 2.8.0 in this case, it does not detect the files (roms and gapps ) on the Sdcard for installation.
But if i install an older version of TWRP 2.2 or CWM 6.0.3.6 the files (Rom and gapps) are available for installation.
How can I solve this problem and install the OMNI 4.4.4 version on my tablet?
Many thanks for the help.

Use this Link.
Scroll down the page until you see the slim recovery section… pick p4 for your 3g tab and flash in recovery.
Wipe cache and dalvik cache… flash twrp zip...go to advanced and pick reboot recovery. Let it boot to new twrp and then reboot system.
After that you can go ahead with your clean install of any rom you want… ( wipe data, cache, dalvik & format system) clean install.

First make a rom backup of your 4.2.2 incase if something goes wrong and you want to restore back.
Then download the latest recovery version, twrp or cyanogenmod
Download cm11
Flash the newest recovery,
Reboot into recovery
Format data/factory reset
Wipe /system
Wipe /dalvik-cache
Flash cm11
Flash kitkat gapps
Reboot.
Enjoy cm11.
The reason why you need latest recovery is because cm11(kitkat) needs selinux enabled recoveries, else it will say something like aborted, set_metadata_recursive failed.
Goodluck with flashingcm11!

Is it corrupt maybe?
Did you downloaded cyanogenmod for the right device?(Probably you have but just in case)
Are you really using the latest recovery?
Better way, what error does it shows, why does it aborts.

Hey guys, did anyone encounter some problems when trying to wipe data/do a factory reset using the Cyanogen Recovery? After I updated from CM 12 to CM 12.1 I wanted to do a factory reset. Selecting "Wipe data" got me an error. Upon accessing "logs", I could find that it couldn't mount or find the volume /misc. Oh, and BTW, I can flash CM Updates just fine. I flashed some CM 12.1 compatible Gapps, but they are not working (Google Play Services/Store is not working). That's why I wanted to do a factory reset and then flash Gapps. What can I do now, in order to make it work again?
Anyone?

1. First from CM recovery, flash the recovery from HERE
2. Then reboot to recovery
3. Do the factory reset/wipes from the new recovery
4. Flash the new CM12.1 and gapps
The problem is with the new CM recovery, which doesn't work properly with our device. We can only hope the CM devs will sort it out in time
Let me know how you go

You will actually be flashing an incompatible kernel, but because the kernel and recovery reside in the same partition in the S2, you are actually using just the recovery. If you try to reboot into the system, you will end up with a bootloop. So just flash the "kernel", reboot straight back to the new recovery, then flash what you need from this new recovery, then reboot to the new rom

Ok, I got it now. Partially. ) So, you're telling me that this "PhilZ recovery" is like a "temporary" one? I use it just to do the factory reset, flash the CM 12.1 and then flash Gapps?

Yes thats right. Use it as a tool to flash what you need. Once you flash CM12.1 you will overwrite philz with the CM recovery/kernel that is included in the .zip file you flash. Hopefully this won't be needed in the future

Ok, I'll try it and let you know how it went.
So, I followed your steps and everything went smooth as butter, but I can't flash the Gapps zip. I tried the recommended zip from CyanogenMod website and it outed this:
set_perm: some changes failed
E: Failed to install /sideload/package.zip" error in recovery.

I tried like, 7 Gapps packages (Pico and nano ones) and still, won't work. On some I get the "footer" error, for example. What can I do? Should I use the PhilZ recovery and do a "Full factory reset for flashing a new ROM?

Hello
GS2 already installed with cyanogenmod 10 + clockworkmod recovery 6.0.2.9, I wanted to install last cyanogenmod :
- cm-12.1-20150817-NIGHTLY-i9100.zip
- gapps-5.1-arm-2015-07-17-13-29.zip
Starting recovery, wipe data / factory reset , install cm zip, install gapps, reboot. --> getting endless cyanogenmod animated logo, the one which comes at boot.
After poweroff+ boot into recovery again, I was surprised to get the cyanogenmod recovery instead of clockworkmod.
I started a new wipe + cm install, but without gapps + reboot : success !!
After that, trying to install gapps from cyanogedmod recovery failed each time with following message :
finding update package
opening update package
verifying update package
installing update...
installing gapps
set_perm : some changes failed
E: failed to install /sideload/package.zip
E: please take note of all the above lines
installation aborded
was clockworkmod recovery 6.0.2.9 to old to proper install the last cyanogen ?
@sksbir
Yes you need to use a newer recovery. Try flashing one of the newer kernels for this device, reboot back to recovery, then flash rom and gapps

Thank's for your quick answer.
So let me resume the situation:
- my clockworkmod was too old, and CM 12 recovery have some problems.
- once CM12.1 is installed, recovery is overwritten with CM recovery.
- so each time you need to do a wipe/factory reset once CM12 is installed, you first have to
> boot to CM recovery
> install a "good" recovery like philz's one to overwrite CM recovery
> reboot again to recovery ( the philz's one )
> install CM12 from recovery
> install Gapps from recovery
> reboot
[Edit] done. Installation is now complete, ( with cm-12.1-20150819-NIGHTLY-i9100.zip and gapps-5.1-arm-2015-07-17-13-29.zip, using "install a new rom" within wipe/factory reset option of Philz recovery ) but I'm not sure it is successfull :
- stuck in startup wizard after signing up with google account. I had to ignore the step to complete the wizard
- no Google Playstore app . Other google applications are here.
I tryed to install the playstore from an apk extracted from my LG G2 ( with same gapps installed ), but once installed, crash immediately at launch.
- no bluetooth : crash the control panel. bug report sent to CM.
Maybe it's because I did not install properly the whole, maybe it's because the firm is still new and it's a nighty, although the same version run well on my LG G2.
If someone have an clue ? I will soon revert to an older CM if there is no issues. Previous installed CM (V10 snapshot, android 4.4 ) ran well.
[edit] : I will first replay the whole installation , but with [GAPPS][2015-04-04] Google Apps Minimal Edition for Android 5.0.x & 5.1.x instead of full Gapps.
Hi,
i updated my S2 from CM 12 to CM 13.
This works perfectly.
But i cant install the gapps.
It say's not enough Space in System.
So CM install's his own Recovery: Cyanogen Recovery.
But with this i can't wipe also the /system.
So how can i wipe this now?

Hi,
Here is for your reference:
Boot your phone into download mode. Connect your phone to PC. Use ODIN to flash TWRP .tar kernel onto your phone, go into recovery, wipe>advanced, wipe system.
However, I believe the real problem you are facing is your system partition is too small. Use my increase system partition size guide to increase system partition.

Thanks for your Answer.
But where can i download the newest TWRP Version for the S2?
Sorry.

CM12.1 TWRP is the one you want. Either one is fine, the older tar is what I usually recommend. Since you didn't keep isorec recovery, you can't flash Isorec TWRP this way. You will need to reflash ROM to get back to CM13.

when i install cyangenMod 13 it freeze at:
Patching system image unconditionally
i use twrp 3

cyangenMod 12
same problem

only cyangenMod 11
works
Did you have the original Kit Kat firmware before you tried the newer CM roms? If you started upgrading from Jelly Bean, then that's why.
i use odin to install official 4.4 rom
then install twrp
but still same problem
thank you
@prowm
What I would suggest you is to use CWM Recovery. Also be sure to do a full wipe before, where I don't think that this was the problem here
Or TWRP 2.8 as the older version hadn't any issues with any rom (for me at least ))))

Hi,
My problem is that I can not install any gapps on my GT-I9300 I have fleshed it with many different version of custom ROM, using android 7, 7.1, 6 and 5.1. Unfortunately regardless of the version of the gapps (nano or stock) installation ends up with error that google apps stopped working. The gaps version is correct for given android version. When I flash ROM only - no gapps - the phone usually works fine but only on Android v5.
When I try ver 6 ROM flash does not even start. With ver 5.1 it flashes but then get some apps error.
Any suggestions or idea? What can goes wrong? Where to start troubleshooting ? On the stock firmware the phone was working fine.
Thx for help

I tried at least 7 different ROMs. Before I flash, I run wipe data/factory reset then cache partition and dalvik cache at the end.

Sly Fox007. Now I'm not sure if I format the data correctly. I use ClockwordMod Recovery v6.0.1.2 not TWRP. Is this a possible source of my problem?
