Guys check this out
Best result on Android 4.+
Description
Hey everyone,
So, I was experiencing significant lag as we all do from time to time, and decided I was going to get to the bottom of it.
After tracing and debugging for hours, I discovered the source of 90% of Android's lag. In a word, entropy (or lack thereof).
Google's JVM, like Sun's, reads from /dev/random. For all random data. Yes, the /dev/random that uses a very limited entropy pool.
Random data is used for all kinds of stuff.. UUID generation, session keys, SSL.. when we run out of entropy, the process blocks. That manifests itself as lag. The process cannot continue until the kernel generates more high quality random data.
So, I cross-compiled rngd, and used it to feed /dev/urandom into /dev/random at 1 second intervals.
Result? I have never used an Android device this fast.
It is literally five times faster in many cases. Chrome, maps, and other heavy applications load in about 1/2 a second, and map tiles populate as fast as I can scroll. Task switching is instantaneous. You know how sometimes when you hit the home button, it takes 5-10 seconds for the home screen to repopulate? Yeah. Blocking on read of /dev/random. Problem solved. But don't take my word for it .. give it a shot!
Update!
I've built a very simple Android app that bundles the binary, and starts/stops the service (on boot if selected). I'll be adding more instrumentation, but for now, give it a shot! This APK does not modify /system in any way, so should be perfectly safe.
This is my first userspace Android app, so bear with me!
Note that this APK is actually compatible with all Android versions, and all (armel) devices. It's not at all specific to the Captivate Glide.

To hear this from the "tweak skeptic" is a sure fire proof that the thing works
I don't mean this in a bad way Dan, don't get me wrong, but you usually voiced your distrust in a few tweak methods.

Well yeah lol, but this isn't just another build.prop entry but a full-blown hack. As the OP states, it technically lowers security and other randomized accuracy in favor of performance.
I'll integrate this into Turbo kernel so it runs in every slot.
P.S. Try setting zRAM to maximum with this on Better multitasking.

Booted for me using 1.50 Jbear Hboot
Booted on 1.04 and 1.5858 for me. The following is my observations and thoughts.
This is lightly tweaked/modded ROM. Does not have expanded reboot options, some of sense bloat still in rom. Besides the adw launcher it runs and acts like a stock ROM. Like the op g'zone has display issues on main menu. Now on my phone compass did not work even after calibration.
Personally I think it could use some visual changes (theme), would remove nofrills in favor of kernel tuned (control both cores independently), finish removing sense bloat, add reboot options and a good kernel.
All in all it is a good start. I am guessing future releases will be greatly improved. Keep up the hard work!!

Issue tracker and kernel
We are experiencing some lag and freezing in the current kernel release of version 2 throught the day. The stock kernel seems more fast and stable. We will be testing other kernels today for another update. If you are testing, please try other compatible kernels if you like and post your results. The objective is complete stability and speed. Keep in mind even though this rom is de-sensed, it seems the only compatible kernels so far is the sense ICS versions such as Mirage 3.097 found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2175191
Thank you and enjoy
UPDATE! ----> The Mirage Kernel mentioned above seems best so far! I will provide an update tonight again with the winning kernel
I'm really liking the ROM so far but why am I still getting Radio Interface Resource Shortage errors? I thought Virgin Mobile fixed that????
EDIT: After using this ROM for a day now I"M REALLY LIKING IT! Great job! Some stuff I have noticed, though, is where can I get a VVM app? Also I noticed it seems to hang when I either shut down or restart and have to pull the battery.
Introduction:
The UI of android keeps improving as updates from the android team keep flowing in. There has been a massive improvement in the aesthetics and looks of the system UI from the ancient Eclair till Jelly Bean. With improving UI and better graphics the system keeps becoming an resource hog. All android smartphones these days come with a separate GPU to satisfy the graphics rendering needs of the apps these days. However the GPU doesn’t exactly help in rendering of the system UI that means the load falls of the CPU to render the system UI and other system framework.
so here is a Mod that will disable CPU rendering and enable full GPU rendering, which will let you enjoy the true power of your adreno203!!!
Improvements:
-Improved performance.
-Blazing speed.
-Better sound quality.
-Improved responsiveness.
-Smoother UI experience.
-Some apps(bloatware) that earlier ran slow like Facebook will turn snappy.
-Free up CPU for other tasks.
requirements:
-Rooted device
-CWM installed 6.0.4.2 or above
How to install:
1-Download the file.
2-boot to recovery mod.
3-Make a nandroid backup just in case.
4-install zip from sdcard.
5-choose Zip from sdcard and choose the file.

Hey guys,

Use cm11 because it gives you a new interface personalization and runs snappy. Also you can download the apps you could never have on stock and get OK Google and a lot more.

KitKat still lags a bit on single-core devices, though the amount of lag still depends - a little on my Player 4.0, horrible on my Incredible S. You might wanna try out Jelly Bean 4.2.x/4.3.x ROMs if there are any, because they produce less lag and at the same time has more modern UI (compared to stock, of course) and almost the same level of app compatibility as KitKat.

They are its just that we run a custom code when were running custom ROMs. It's suppose to make them faster (KitKat) but their is a little lag in 4.0. I don't have any problems with KitKat on my galaxy 5.0 running cm11. Cm11 actually runs like stick to me because of low personalization and speed. I switched because stock 2.3.6 was getting dull and I wanted to install some apps I never had the chance to install.

Well, it is supposed to be, but it might be the amount of hacks that's needed to run KitKat on legacy devices that slows them down. In the case of Incredible S, the dev has to make tremendous efforts to get ION and many other stuffs running just in order to make the ROM boot properly, let alone having time to optimize the code.
Disabling transparency and other visual effects (aka "Low RAM mode" ) can make it run somewhat faster, but not much.

Snapshots are considered more stable, but according to my experience nightlies are stable too, you have simply to consider from how many times a rom is under development: 4 months generally are enough.
I prefer M builds to prevent my compulsive system upgrading
And yes, in CyanogenMod systemui is the worst thing especially in my device. It freeze my device for some minutes before goes to FC.
Since few days I aborted the Dalvik world and the greatful GravityBox.
I'm on ART with better performance and battery saving, but mainly with better stability.
Okay thank you all, actually I'm testing PacRom and it looks great for the moment only one SystemUI Fcs since yesterday
About ART, I have lose 1500 point in Antutu with CM and somde lags... I prefere keep Dalvik because I use a lot of module xposed ^^

I understand that you want to keep Xposed, but prefer Dalvik to have a greater AnTuTu benchmark score is ridiculous!
ART runtime, is "officially" better than Dalvik runtime, but is under development still and requires more free storage space.

You are on a little different Boeffla kernel, which use the Samsung proprietary drivers instead the open source smdk4x12.
According to Lord Boeffla, it should be worst than the known Boeffla kernel.
What's your experience with?
Thanks, we can be useful also for OP [emoji6]
Nope... The Samsung sources are actually better than the smdk4x12 which are synced to Samsung sources upto Update7(hence outdated, with crappy performance/battery life) whereas current Samsung sources are upto Update14, that's why he decided to make the NG Kernel in the first place...
But don't u think this is getting a bit too off topic for this thread?
