Installing APK - Nexus 9 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anyone experienced an issue where you try to install an APK and you get to the permissions screen with "cancel" and "next". "Next" button does nothing. Scroll to the bottom of the permissions list and the "next" changes to an "install" but that button does nothing either. Hitting "cancel" or clicking anywhere outside the permissions box will just close the installer.
Nexus 9 with 5.0 Lollipop.
Any help is appreciated.

i have exactly the same problem and finally give up lux for brightness control in N9, using other one just fine.. (but the Lux just works fine without this problem in N5..)

That is the problem...but I love lux!
I just forced stopped lux, installed the app, and restarted it. Seemed to work. Thanks to those who replied. I don't think I would have figured this one out.

Cant install apk by clicking on it

Today i tried to install an apk i downloaded from a company thats software i use, Touchdown for my email and contacts etc.
When i went to the download file to click on the apk to update my version it gives me the install option but i cant click on it only on cancel.
I messed around and then did the same thing though my file explorer and this time i was presented with an option to install it using package installer or juicy installer work around.
package didnt work the the installer workaround did.
Is this a problem with juicy or what?
If its a problem and they have obviously included a work around are they going to fix it?
This is a weird issue i guess idk.
Any responses would be helpful.
Are you using any apps to dim your screen, like Screen Adjuster or Screen Filter? These will prevent you from clicking the Install button.
I personally never have had this issue :/
hope get figured out though

Google Now not working with Themer

Hello there to you all. As I noted in the title for this thread, I can´t make Now work since I installed Themer. I have a Xperia L and even though I have updated everything it still isn't working. Now starts but no cards are displayed and if you try to search it closes inmediately.
Any suggestions? Is it a known bug?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
How do you access Google Now? Is your phone rooted? We've never received an issue like this, therefore we suggest making sure that no other apps are causing this error.

My phone is stock, no root. I can't access neither by the regular swipe from the bottom nor by opening the app regularly. As soon as you try to search something it closes. No other program has problems.

What device are you using? If it's a OnePlus, then that is from their side. Themer has no relation to altering your Google Now settings, and we haven't had any other issues like this before. We recommend checking apps that you have currently installed as something else may have triggered this problem.
Install UCCW from Play Store.
2. Download this theme and and open it. Now tap on Install Skin button.
3. After you're done with installation, Long press on the Homescreen and select UCCW Widget and select the required widget as indicated by their name.
5. Go to UCCW app, press menu button and make sure the Lock Widgets are 'ON'
Instructions for adding your own app shortcuts in widgets (Hotspots)
If you want to edit or add custom apps in widgets then follow these steps -
1. Open UCCW app and select Hotspot (Lock Widget) from the menu option.
2. Turn "OFF" the Hotspots.
3. Go to desktop and tap the button on widget you want to edit.
4. Select the app you want from the appropriate Hotspots.
5. After you have done editing, make sure you turn "ON" the Hotspot again to apply the changes.

Overrode long press for multiwindow, trying to get it back

I recently switch to a 4.4.4 ROM which doesn't have the side bar tab to bring up the window bar. I always used to set my long back press to kill app and did so again without thinking. Now I can't get MW to open, I've tried resetting to default and still nothing. Is there a way to fix this?

Re-flash the Rom? Try dirty flashing.

I figured it out, it was Gravity Box, apparently I can't change any buttons or it overrides the long back press to open MW. However in trying to solve one problem I think I created another. At the time I didn't realize GB was causing the problem and I wanted to have my settings to go back to default, my ROM dev recommended a dirty flash. My MW issue has been resolved but now Xposed seems like it doesn't have full root access. Root works for everything else, and a lot of Xposed features are working, but certain things (write to SD, GB's Smart Radio, GB's Status Bar icon color change to name a few) won't work/changes don't stick. The GB options are greyed out even after clicking On. I've tried uninstalling SuperSU updated and reinstalling, and fully uninstalling/reinstalling Xposed but nothing has worked so far. Any suggestions?

I finally found a solution for this, installing this app gives you a MW toggle that you could assign to a button or gesture in case anyone else ever has this issue

How to force "State always ignored"

Hi,
I would like to know how to force "State always ignored for hibernation". There are a couple of apps that are still popping up and refuse to hibernate and I still haven't been able to figure out how to force showing the message about ignoring one app state. I haven't been able to do it since earlier versions. Guess it is something very simple but I have tried many things and still have no clue

Long press the app which should be hibernated while showing up in 'Pending Hibernation' list. You will get the option either in the three dot menu or on pulling up the green bar at the bottom depending on the setup.

Thanks but I don't get those options. When Iong press I only get the zzz option next to a - option. If I select with normal press I get the three dots on top bar but I don't get that one. I just can press "Put into hibernation now".
I am in version 3.3 since I had problems with last versions but I think it's been like this since older versions. I am using Orion 2.7 ROM (Android 6)

Greenify v3.3 does not support this feature; you need to upgrade.

The thing is that sometimes the option pops up (I have several apps hibernated with it). I just don't know how to force it myself.
Which version has it? Version 3.5 was giving me problems.
EDIT: Ok. I am back to version 3.6. I hope things go better this time.
Thanks both for your help.

Sorry to reopen this post again. But in one device that has Android 4.2.2 I just can install Greenify V. 3.0 build 5 (donation package). And I don't have the three dots options so I don't know how to force the options about ignoring state or cut the wake-up path to pop up...
Found it. I had to disable "Deep hibernation" from the experimental features. Now I can see the cut-off option again

After the last Android update, I cannot click the menu bar or access the pull-down menu.

It's quite annoying. I cannot access the menu bar anymore. Looks like the first cm of the screen cannot be accessed.
If I go to settings, I can use it. In other apps, such as WhatsApp it's not accessible. It happened after the restart when it updated Android to v12.
Does anybody know a workaround?
To be more precise, the upper part of the screen can't be accessed. If I rotate the screen into landscape mode, it's fine. I can also not click buttons or text on the upper screen area. It's about 1 cm from the top. Everything else from down there works.
And as I said in my original post. If I open an app, the upper screen area works as well, so it's not a hardware issue.

Do you use an app like Energy Bar? I reset my phone for the same issue and whe reinstalling each app I found it was Energy Bar causing the issue, I guess because it requests screen overlay permissions?

You're welcome, I was so annoyed that I had to reset my phone because of this, at least I'll know if it happens again!
