LG G3 Bricked! - Sprint LG G3

My lg is bricked :/ basically what happened here is i got a gear fit by samsung and there where some ways to make it work with any device and that resulted in editing the Build.prop and changing the Ro.product.brand , name ,device, and one other and change those to a samsung device as instructed. i did that and the watch didnt work and when i went to open my camera it screwed that up also. so i tried changing everything back in build.prop but couldnt due to not remembering what the names where so i downloaded a build.prop that i thought was the g3's and it wasnt i just found out it was the LG G2 VS980 Build.prop so upon overwriting the existing one i restarted and got a black screen with green and blue led's so i did factory reset a couple times no luck there i also ran the lg flash tool and it said the device model was incorrect. im not sure what to do about this.
SO KEY NOTES TO HELP SOLVE PROBLEM
1 Overwrited original build.prop with accidental LG G2 VS980 Build.prop Bricking the device upon restart
2 Could not do firmware back to stock VIA lg flashtool due to the Device model and all info being changed with the G2 Build.prop
3 LG Support tool doesnt work due to not having an MEID Of the g2 or model.
4. HAVE DONE 4 Factory resets resulting in the same issue stock factory resets do not mess with the build.prop
if i cant get this fixed before tomarrow evening i am shipping the phone to lg for repair
any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!!!
if there is a way to send the phone into adb or somthing and possibly push a new Build.prop to the phone then it would work perfect. that is the only issue with it. i can get into download mode and the stock recovery just fine maybe there is a firmware i can flash as an update in the stock recovery
the model i have is the lgls990

http://forum.xda-developers.com/spr...de-how-to-restore-sprint-lg-g3-ls990-t2852042
probably your only option. Just flash the .tot and you will be back at stock.

can you get it into download mode? holding up on the volume key, and plugging in a usb cord

i can get into download i can get into that and stock recovery . i would love to use the flashtool but i need somthing to void the DLL So that it will install the firmware restore regardless of the screwed up build.prop

i have the flashtool and the tot and dll and i get the invalid Device because the Build.prop is the lg g2 prop not the lg g3 so im screwed basically unless someone has somthing i can use to bypass the dll check so i can get back to stock and i can change it then

Do you not have twrp?? File manager capabilities exist within twrp. Or if you know the location (via twrp file browser) you might be able to use the "dd if;dd of" command. Thats what i would try if i wad in your situation.

Talked with a support agent from LG, they gave me an Authorization number that a have to write on the shipping box with the phone... Lets see what happens
If you have the TMo optimus T, use the V10L kdz file. The flashing utility has a force mode that WILL work even if the computer does not detect the phone. You just have to make sure that nothing else is plugged into the USB port, and that your phone will power up.
I've bricked my phone 3 times now fiddling with removing stuff from the LIB directory from the stock rom (stupid me) and have always been able to recover it.

Ok, pop me a msg, my last option to revive it, is sending it to LG
Did a conversion to original 2.2.2 V10q with KDZ and when turning on the phone, it didn;t turn on (as expected). Not responding at all. Power, button combination or some @#@# like that - not working. So, sent it to LG Service through VDF Romania 4 days ago and now i have a new PCB with new IMEI and a fully working P500. So, that was my solution for meddling with updaters, ROM's, etc. and forgetting to disable LGE Modem in Device Manager (it was late at night)

Really sticky situation, bricked p769 phone

So I have an LG Optimus L9 phone from T-Mobile that I recently got, but it wouldn't let me save apps to my SD card, which really limited my space. Id rooted my previous Android phone, and I thought I could do it again.
So I tried unlocking my bootloader and rooting my phone using this tutorial:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2277639
But I guess one thing led to another and... Well, now when I start my phone, it just leads to a screen that says Encrypting and a button that says "Reset phone", and every single time it resets to this "Encrypting" screen. Every once in a blue moon, I can get it into CWM recovery screen, but I don't know what to do. I've been trying out multiple things, but I'm on the verge of losing my mind! Can anyone help me? I'd really appreciate it!
*UPDATE*
Good news! I used the LG Mobile Support tool to update my phone to V20H by using the advice below!
BOOTLOOPS? STUCK AT LG LOGO? : Dont worry!!! If you were on CM and flashed JB or vice versa or your data partition is not matching with new partitions, then your phone may get BOOTLOOPS on LG Logo.
HARD-RESET to solve it (Press VolDown, Home and Power all together) You will loose data, dont worry, before starting you took BACKUP and I am sure about it. Phone should start normally. (Click for correct method of HARDRESET)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2085344
So now it boots up fine and works! But now the touchscreen is wonky. That's normal from what the tutorial said, but at this point, I'm desperately just trying to bring my phone back to normal... Anyone know how I can fix the touchscreen issue, or restore back to normal from here?

I just tried following the tutorial again, but I came across the same error I got the last time I tried (before I got myself into the encryption shenanigans). I was following the youtube tutorial that carloswii5 posted at the top of his written tutorial.
I got to the part where I had to install the recovery (At 13:37 of the video), but when I click the button to install it, I get this error:

(The forum won't let me post links until I'm have 10 posts on the forum, so I put a space after the h in the http...)
Sorry for the terrible webcam picture. Any idea what this means, and how I can fix this? Where did I go wrong? And thanks again, people, I appreciate the help!

I'll send you a file to flash (once you get root & l9 recovery installed) to restore your touch screen & u-boot if you feel like throwing in the towel.

I actually got it up and running a while ago, thanks though, I really appreciate it!
Apprearently I had to flash my phone to V10G, root it, install the L9 recovery, and then follow the tutorial. I don't know how that slipped my mind, but I didn't try flashing it to V10G first.
Just for the sake of putting a resolution to this thread's issue, here's what I did.
1. I flashed my phone to V10G using cmahendra's tutorial here:
h ttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2085344
2. Then I rooted the phone using this Chinese tool that aristide1997 posted:
h ttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2439667
(There might be a better way to root the phone, but that's how I did it)
3. Then I installed the L9 Recovery apk that I got from carloswii5's tutorial. (It's the last link, the mega.co.nz one, the all in one zip that ggfool politely posted)
h ttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2277639
5. After that, I just followed carloswii5's youtube tutorial,
h ttp://youtu.be/WyNtFP_TkKc
and everything went smoothly from there.
Anyway, thanks for all the help you guys, I'm glad I finally got this problem sorted out, and can now install custom roms on my phone!

I am having similar problems to the one explained above...
Today my phone started giving me google service stopped working and calculator stopped working...so I restarted my phone. when it powered back up it got stuck on the LG Logo Screen...once in a while it will go to the encryption screen with the reset phone button and does nothing if I push it. I have tried to hard reset the phone by doing the Volume Down + Home Button + Power button all at the same time. When I push all three after removing the battery to make sure the phone is powered down, it just vibrates and powers up to the LG Logo screen again and sits there. I am really frustrated at this point and heart broken because I really like this phone. I have had the phone a little over a year now. So it is out of warranty. For some reason it is not getting seen when I connect it to my computer via USB cable. I do not understand all the conversation about re-rooting and such. I am not all that tech savvy, so I need simple instructions.

I tried the LG Mobile Support Tool....unfortunately because the phone is not booting up all the way, my computer is not being seen. I ended up going out and replacing the phone with another phone. This was the second time that something like this happened to that phone. The first time it automatically started an System Update without my input and I was not in a good coverage area and not hooked to a Wi-Fi at the time and then my battery dies midway through. This lead to the phone being stuck without the software fully downloaded. Had to send it to LG for a little over a week to completely wipe the phone and re-install the software. It was under warranty at that time. This time the warranty was out of date. I will still see if there is anything that they can do for it. I went with another LG, but bought the extended warranty through the store where I bought it, not making that mistake again.
Hi thejenibear, thanks for your feedback.
Cheers. Good luck.

Trying to go back to Stock P769

I recently installed CyanogenMod with the Unlock Bootloader for noobs and I noticed the internal SD wasn't mounted. So I tried to flash an ICS ROM to see if it would work but it didn't. I was stuck at the boot screen. I tried restoring an ICS CWM backup and a JB backup but it didn't work. Currently, I have a flashed JB backup with a messed up touchscreen (because of the way I unlocked the boot-loader). It won't boot and I don't know how I can install the stock ROM. I really just want my phone to work at this point. I don't know if there's any way to use the offline method to flash a .kdz since I can't access android. I tried hard resetting, but when I do it starts up Clock Work Mod which I believe happens because of the way I unlocked boot-loader.
I'm trying to use this guide to fix it using SW upgrade. I did find a .bin and .fls which i'm downloading right now.
If anyone could help or give some advice that would be great. I really just want to use my phone, I don't care about flashing a custom ROM right now. As long as my phone works, I'll be happy.

Let me know if this works for you! Also you can do the offline fix just as long as you can get into S/W Upgrade mode. But I am curious to see if you can use the bin/fls files tool that you mentioned to get your phone working again.

Well just get your phone into S/W Upgrade mode and follow this tutorial. Getting into S/W Upgrade:
1. Get stock ROM here.
2. Turn off your phone
3. Press and hold the vol + button while inserting USB to computer
4. Keep holding the vol + until you see the S/W upgrade mode
5. Flash ROM with tutorial mentioned above.
Good Luck!

surenzxx said:
Isn't that just an infobank of all the KDZs? I'm pretty new, but can you flash a kdz with the offline method? To clarify, I was asking how to flash the kdz with the offline method in S/W upgrade mode. So ROMs/KDZs are essentially the same, right?
Edit: I read everything over again and realized what KDZs really are. I'm just wondering now if I could just hard reset in some other way because the LG Update Tool doesn't recognize my phone even though I see all the drivers. It's stuck at 15%.
Edit 2: I tried the method I suggested and it resulted with "Magic number does not concide".
So I'm stuck here with a phone that is stuck in bootloop, and has CWM installed. Can anyone help?
Click to collapse
alright, this is all from memory but the offline flash didnt work as well for me when stuck in weird bootloops.
Step one-going back to online flash---->
A---
the easiest way i found was to go to C:/windows/system32/drivers/ect/hosts
right click>open with notepad
there should be two lines at the bottom
"127.0.0.1 csmg.lgmobile.com
127.0.0.1 csmgdl.lgmobile.com"
i would cut them out and paste them in a text doc in the same folder for reference later...
but either way you should remove them from the hosts file and save
B----
Make sure your small server is closed! once you minimize it it should go down to your status bar (shttps)
Step two-LGMS---->
make sure you have LG mobile support installed or install it.
open lg mobile support
install needed drivers for your phone
power your phone off/remove the battery
put battery back in
connect it to your computer holding down the volume up button
S/W UPDATE mode should pop up, if it doesn't preform and hardreset and try again til it works (it will)
then in the top right corner there should be a button or two click them both until you see
"restore update" or Update restore or something to that effect
select that
and let it ride man
i got my phone ****ed many times and just had to keep redoing this until it worked. if your bootloader is truely unlocked you can probably go through all that again and get CM10 working, i did but im still working through kinks.....

Such a late reply, sorry! I did nothing. Before you replied I flashed CM10.2 but never bothered to boot up my phone. Preparing to connect my phone to my comp, I couldn't start CWM so I figured " I'll just leave my phone plugged in for a few hours." Two hours later, my phone has a blank screen, i'm thinking "This shouldn't be blank? What the hell?." I pressed the power button and was greeted with Cid. I screamed out loud: "**** yeah!"
If people have the same problem as me all I did was: Reflash my my phone with 10.1, stock, 10.1 again, and then 10.2. I did that, only that.
What's funny is that I never checked to see if my phone was working after I flashed CM10.2. :silly:
Can't wait for Kit-Kat. Thank you for keeping up with my post, CROSSFREEZE I appreciate it!

Now it is stuck in firmware update screen. I remove battery and turn on phone it goes to lg boot screen and then firmware update. If the phone is off and I plug into wall charger the screen shows battery symbol with spinning thing and then firmware update screen comes on. Please help. Thanks for any input in advance.

You don't need to dl the .tot. Just maybe the generic .dll. Although the regular one should work.
Mainly it's just ticking "board dl that's different.

Looks like click the box for board dl worked. I'll update after I play with it a bit. Thanks all.
Still problems
I'm getting to different crash screens now. A green one that say Demigod crash handler:tz and a black screen about a kernal crash. Any ideas on these issues?
You got it yesterday, just take it back and get a new one.

Both those screens are kernel issues. They were common with the granddad of this phone... Optimus G.
You should just reboot and be good. If not, then maybe you need to run Flashtool again.
I'm not a fan of Flashtool. But I guess our other option, LGNPST, isn't an option anymore.
Other than that, maybe go with the above post.

Lg and sprint are telling me they will not take it back without proof of purchase. I bought it off a local person. Their upgrade that they wanted cash for instead of using. It was sealed supposedly unused. Sprint store said that the demigod one means its been rooted and can not help me. I am very frustrated and know just enough about this stuff to only get in trouble.
Is there more i can Flash? Or more Software I can replace to get rid of the issue. As I have flashed tot file and dll file 30 or so times. With no better result. I don't want a $500 paper weight. Thanks for all the help so far.
Maybe try flash tool with a different pc. My laptop works great but my other pc doesn't work as well. Worth a shot.

The Demigod happens even when not rooted if I remember right. I think Sprint was just being lazy.
Go to that thread I linked earlier by fergie, and grab both dll's. Generic and Sprint.
I know you don't want to do it again but it's your only way to hopefully get it working.
I'll see if I can get an md5sum for the tot to make sure you have it right. I'll post it here in a minute.
Edit: md5sum for LS990ZV4_04.51101.tot - 8cee4b3dd55ec6405d03805bc1061459
I know its worked for me a few times. And both dll's should work just fine.

What would the generic dll do if I have not modified anything?

I've used both and had no issues with either one.
Depending how they unlock the bootloader, I think we'll all end up having to use the generic.
same issue
Hello did you ever get it fixed ? i have the exact same problem. I was able to talk to lg today and im going to send it in for service . They said they dont need proof of purchase since the phone is only a couple of months old so its still under warranty please let me know if you have any info that can help me before i send it in.
i have a lg optimus l90 and i took my battery out for literally 1 minute and then put in back in and started charging it. it turned back on with a black screen saying "firmware update do not unplug the USB connection until the process is complete" its been like this for about 5minutes now and its still at 0%. can someone please tell me what to do? help!

Have you tried to flash a TOT or a KDZ? TOT flashes a lot more of the partitions and usually can fix these type of issues. We need more information such as:
Model number. Does it end in a K? (Look at the label in the battery compartment). If it does end in a K, you cannot downgrade to a version before Marshmallow, so you're basically stuck on 47A or 48A.
Are you trying to flash a TOT or KDZ?
What version are you trying to flash back to?
I have tried both tot and kdz from 10b to 47a. All done in download mode. It's shown that the download was successful but , ha, lg g3 vs985w will reboot and do the same thing over and over . Also the led light doesn't come on at all.

Did the phone just start doing this all of a sudden a few months ago or were you trying something with it? How old is the phone? It sounds like it could be a hardware failure.

Battery? Try a different one and see. I have a bad battery that does the same thing as yours is doing rt now.
You can also try plugging it into a charger while it is booting and see if it makes it through the boot process. If so, definitely get a new battery...or 2.
ok, the phone randomly downloaded a new update from verizon. It was 6.0.1 mm! Durring the update it had incurred an error and the update would not finish. it said dont remove battery until the update was finished. so me the rule follower left it there for like 4hours and was still showing that error message which for the life of me i cant remember. i pulled the battery and tried to restart the phone and made it to logo screen and then vibrate then power off. No led in the upper left corner and no nothing but an endless bootloop
i also thought that it might be the battery so i bought a double pack brand new when this happened and tried that and nothing same effect.
Quick question, dont know if worded right but could the bootloader somehow be corrupted? led not working???
plugged in usb and the battery with loading circle poped up and no movement from circle or percentage of charge battery has
which program did you use when you flashed the TOT ?

Damn... I was hoping it'd just be a simple battery replacement fix
So has it booted since you did the RTB last resort fix?
& did you TOT or KDZ? Just double checking because a TOT should've fixed you up; KDZ's don't have all the files a TOT has.
One more time...try putting it into download mode and use the LG flash tool to flash the 10b TOT from here... http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-lg-g3/development/tot-vs985-10b-share-t2832488
Hopefully it boots and you can go from there.
I also have boot loops,
I was going to sell this so wanted to return to stock but it was my mistake not carefully reading the post and flashing one of ota G2 file. I just followed KDZ method for stock 12B but it still has boot loops.

Read the previous post regarding TOT versus KDZ. TOT still might not fix it but it might. If it doesn't, you might have to try forcing it into QHSUSB_BULK 9008 mode (thread for that in the General section).

Thanks before I try TOT method, I will give my other computer a shot. It worked one time but, this could be my laptop issue having all the crappy things installed from work and personal. Other laptop is kind of clean. If all fails I will investigate TOT after QHSUSB_BULK 9008 mode.

FYI TOT is easier than QHSUSB_BULK 9008 mode (which requires TOT too but is way more involved). Good luck, let us know how it goes!
TOT worked for me. I just had difficulty in finding right dll file for it and one I tried from other post worked for me.
Now that I am done upgrading it to MM with KDZ since I had all the files downloaded, I am starting to have second thoughts on selling this now. Damn thing is smooth as butter and it feels like it can still go head to head with many of today's mid range phones...
but tough choice have to be made. It will be deeply sad to see my G3 go... :'(

Glad you solved it.
If you re-TOTed, rooted and put @xdabbeb 's VS985 v3.1.1 ROM on, based on the latest stock 48A, you'd probably be even more tempted to keep using the phone.

The thread isn't working, the download links aren't working, or what? I thought you already had the files downloaded and you just hadn't had luck yet flashing them?
