"Kirk to enterprise" seems better. Or whatever **** Tracy would say

J.A.R.V.I.S. is pretty cool too

Hi,
Just got a Samsung Galaxy Ace, but can't figure out how to access/use voice dialing.
On my old Sony K800i it was simply a matter of recording voice tags for the
speed dials, then pressing the call button on the handsfree kit and speaking
the name.
Any ideas please?
Save the number in contacts then, click the voice search app, or go to the Google toolbar and click the voice icon and say e. g. Call john mobile. It will dial. Internet connection is required.

Thanks.
But isn't there a way to do this by just pressing the handsfree button and speaking? In the UK you're not allowed to handle the phone itself whilst driving.

@OP , try using Vlingo
Herpderp Adreno + Tegra.
Found an app in the Android Market place called
"Headset button Controller (Trial)"
Will give it a try (possibly with vlingo) and report back.
Maybe then someone will thank me...

Lol I just thanked
Herpderp Adreno + Tegra.
Using Headset Button Controller and Vlingo works!
I had to install the free TTS (test to speech) engine from the marketplace.
Then after setting the the headet button to voice command I was good to go.
The only downside of this method is that it uses data. So I'll use this for the
meantime, but the untimate goal is a standalone voice activated dialling app.

Finally found exactly what I needed.
Voice Speed Dial by Cyberon Corp on the market place.
Does exactly what I need and doesn' use data. Only thing
was I had to pay for it.
So this weekend i was driving around with my Note in its window mount and started thinking. What i really need is a way to trigger either Google Now or some other third-party app with voice-only controls. that way i could say Text Mom: Hi mom: and the phone would do so. Same with music, directions, calling etc.
As it stands, i have to manually activate these functions with physical contact. Is there any app out there that would listen for a key phrase to start an action?
Siri.
Or it's android counterpart ...."Skyvi "
Available on the play store..
I've toyed with it, and it's not bad.....g

Besides Siri on the iphone, the only thing I can find thats close is "assistant" in the market. Skyvi is only for sms, but assistant lets you create voice shortcuts. But nothing is handsfree - you have to wake up the phone and touch the app icon.

S-Voice.....just say "Hi, Galaxy!" To wake her up, and she'll carry out your orders without as much as a touch...how often can you say that about the other females in your life? You can even give her an alternate nickname, may I suggest a couple?:
Lea
Sexy
Smarty McSmartypants
Baby
Momma
The Esemesinator
Fatty
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Anyone else? He he. PM me. I'm looking to name my new computer. Just don't take over this poor guy's thread.

Hey devs out there...
Is there a way to make the Motorola's recent cool update in the MOTO-X which they call the "TOUCH FREE XYZ" :cyclops:
Actually the device wakes up with voice commands.
Also another feature like its called the "PEEK VIEW" :silly:

Doesnt s-voice already do all that???
Well it does only when activated with the "double-tap home key" action.
But this thing, MOTO-X wakes up just by saying "OK GOOGLE" which takes no button actions.
Just google the MOTO-X and u'll know how it works

You probably have your settings wrong then. if the "Wake up command" option is set, you just say "Hi Galaxy" (i think you can programme it too) and it wakes up without pressing home buttons.

well yes u r right
but u again will have to say the command like may be "Start Google Now" or something like that or just anything.
But this MOTO-X from Motorola actually has 2 extra voice-cancelling microphones + the primary microphone making them all 3 which makes it easy to take commands.
And the best part is that it doesn't have any inbuilt voicecommand app (i guess) and therefore you just wake the device by saying "OK GOOGLE" which actually means it directly activates google now and we have the liberty to say just anything
Note: Am not here to market the MOTO-X coz i actually have not liked the moto products ever since am into mobiles. Its just that the features (the 2 mentioned particularly) are appealing to me and may be to others too, i hope. Moreover i just love SAMSUNG. so, eace:
I dont really remember but i happened to go thru an app in the playstore which provides the "Peek View" feature but the disapp is that it only supports the 4.3 builds.

I think most of moto x software features will come from 3rd party apps once 4.3 support APIs are implemented

But am sure you still have to have a very good american or british accent for this to work flawlessly. Our Hinglish wont work
I almost freaked. I started up maps and the voice was HORRIBLE !! oh so horrible. it sounded like Svoice. so nasty.
then I found the thread that samsung (bastards) did not include is so all I had to do was install from play and make default and all is good in navigation land again.
then it hit me. is there a hack that would let me replace samsung's tts with googles tts? so svoice also sounds "nice" instead of "nasty" ?
can I rename the apk and replace it? any chance that might work?

Look up Ivona Text to Speak and download the Amy UK voice... You won't be disappointed.
ehhh don't like it. its better than svoice but still very mechanical like sounding
thank you for the suggestion though.

Agreed, that voice is not that good. I still go to ispeech for high quality TTS. Their US english female voice is just amazing. they have a demo online if you want to check it out. Type ispeech demo on google, it's the first result.
Ispeech is pretty good. Not as good as google but way better than svoice and better than ivona.
I just want to replace the samsung tts engine for svoice. Or make google "always listen" like svoice does and like it does on the moto x

Have you tried the new "Samsung TTS HD US English" download from the Utilities section of Samsung Apps? I've been using it for past week or two and it sounds quite nice.
Hey guys.
Is it possible to vibrate the phone when a call is connected or disconnected. I have seen this feature in Galaxy phones.
I wonder if its available for SONY devices.
Regards.
yeah, its a great useful feature, but I believe that if it's not built into the system you can only have it by installing 3rd party apps, which are obviously annoying to have running on a phone..but i hope im mistaken. and perhaprs there is a super simple app that does just this one function.

This feature can be added through an xposed module "Android Phone Vibrator" but i don't think it is yet updated to support lollipop if u r running it
