Why do you even make this thread without testing if it works?
Seems like a lot of references to Nexus 10 root that does not work.

The CFAR for N10 has now been updated. No idea if it's working though.

yes, confirmed it's working, using factory img and now have root
SuperSU claims to be granting root access, but ES File explorer and Titanium Backup still claim I don't have root.
Chainfire's beta 2.19 works fine with 5.0. Been running it for a couple days now.

You cannot issue fastboot command when you're not in fastboot mode. Do you have all the correct drivers installed for adb/fastboot? Anyway to get to fastboot you can also turn on the Nexus while holding down vol + and vol - the same time as power on.

Worked great for me, just keep in mind when you finish from the "red android" screen and it says rebooting in 10 seconds, give it more like a minute to reboot, don't manually restart thinking it got hung or you might have to repeat the process again. Don't ask me how I know.
Also, Titanium Backup from the Play store won't work (says root is denied). That's not Chainfire's fault, you need the beta Lollipop Titanium apk for it to work properly (store version should be updated soon).

Hi
I would have posted this in the Nabi 2 root thread, but i don't have enough posts to do so.
I have tried and tried to root both my girls Nabi 2 tablets and i get errors with both of them, i have rooted a few Android devices before and find it easy, but i just cant get these to Nabi 2's done.
Using jmztaylor's method i get this error:

If i try to install root or gapps via recovery, i get this error:
I cannot see or understand what i am doing wrong, i rooted my Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 at Christmas and everything went fine, im using the same computer to do thes Nabi 2's but just errors all the time.
My most recent update on them was December i think, is it possible Nabi may have blocked the method to do this between the root being released and Christmas ?

It seemed to root fine, i even have SuperSU on the Nabi, but it wont install gapps, so i tried installing the Market independently, it installs but wont run, lol its frustrating as i normally find these things easy, now i feel a bit stupid for not being able to get it sorted.

hello i tried today a LG G3 F400 Recovery 6.0.4.9 for my phone and it works perfect and this is the steps :
1, the function has been done wipe and brush test, everything is normal.
2, due to the unconventional, so some features may very Compared with conventional forms of some of the problems with third-party recovery. I hope you understand this.
3, at present, the recovery for zip format to brush after a third-party ROM package has enough to deal with.
4, the latest version 6.0.4.9
Usage:
1, the phone must have root privileges without root privileges Look at this post: " ROOT LG G3 two kinds of methods are summarized Share "
2, download and install RecoveryInstaller-v1.0_AnZhi.apk
3, click "Install Recovery" to the recovery installation to your phone
4, click the "Reboot into Recovery" to reboot into recovery
5, the boot (or just does not appear when you boot boot animation), press the volume key stop point (not long press) may also enter this recovery

Yes have been rooted for a month! All good - tried again and worked!
How is this magic possible?!
Created Nandroid, which naturally works fine.
So, now how to restore...?
Flashing a stock rom, rooting it and using this recovery afterwards is "somewhat cumbersome"

NEW: CF-Auto-Root flashable: http://download.chainfire.eu/595/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-flounder-volantis-nexus9.zip
Will update this post soon-ish!
--- old post follows ---
This took a few hours more than I had hoped, because it's both the first firmware on a new Android version as well as 64-bit. While there have been 64-bit builds of the SuperSU binary for a while now, they were untested until now, and unsurprisingly there were a few (minor) issues to fix before it worked properly.
As such, this root includes SuperSU v2.18, which is a special build for the Nexus 9, which you should definitely not try to put on any other device, nor should you put an older version of SuperSU on the Nexus 9.
I have not yet updated the CF-Auto-Root framework to be able to patch the kernels live (needed on 5.0) or support 64-bit, so this is a more manual root than usual.
It pretty much comes down do:
- enable oem unlocking in Android's developer options
- fastboot oem unlock
- fastboot boot inject.img
- fastboot flash boot patched.img
The included README.TXT is a little bit more extensive, but not by much, and if you don't know what the above does then maybe you shouldn't bother (yet).
Please note that many root apps will have issues with both Android 5.0 as well as 64-bit. There may also be more issues with SuperSU on 64-bit that I have not found yet.
Guess it's time to fix up CFAR and update the new How-To SU with all the 5.0 specifics. That'll all take some time, though.

That was the issue! Turned off security and rebooted the two images and I had SU access. Turned pattern lock with boot enforcement and it broke SU. It is the boot time security that breaks this.

Thanks very much, got test 6 from their twitter and it works!
Is there a recovery yet??
Hi everyone
I managed to root my android phone yesterday (I checked with 2 root-checker apps). Now I'm having trouble removing pre-installed apps like Twitter and Yellow Pages which I never use. I tried few uninstall apps, and after granting them permission from SuperUS, they perform an uninstall (some apps do it forcefully) and give a message that the apps were deleted. The apps are not removed from my application list but when I click on it to run, they give an error message. But when I restart my phone, those apps I deleted start working again as if nothing happened.
What I'm I doing wrong? My phone is HTC One M8, android.
Thank you for any help

I just tried it now but same problem. I select twitter to delete. It gives me a message that uninstall was successful. I check to see if it's listed on my home page, and it is although when I click on it, it gives an error message. However after restarting the phone, twitter somehow recovers and works again!!! Really strange. It's as if it wasn't uninstalled to begin with.

You need to remove read / write protection. You can do this most easily by flashing a modded kernel (boot.img) through fastboot. Alternatively, there's custom roms that have this already or you can mod a kernel module. There's a guide in the General section of your phone's forum. If you go that route, make sure that the module is compatible with the update you're on as the guide might be outdated.
