hey
my name is Hadar and i am new here.
i just started my senior year B.Sc project, i,m using phone application developing with it.
i have two questions please:
1. does the micro usb on the i9300 is 3.0 or 2.0?
2. can it supply voltage (very low power) as an output for low power circuit ?
thanks a lot for everyone how helps!

Hey everyone,
If I'v posted this in the wrong section or if there is an UPDATED thread please let me know
I would like to make my own device similar to the MOTOACTV (which runs 2.3) but with the additions of NFC+WiFi Direct, an LED, a vibrating motor
Extend NFC to a limit of distance of 9 inches (can this be done with bluetooth always on/discoverable auto-pairing?)
Display the current weather every 5 seconds (screen should be off between those intervals)
Turn the screen on when in range of another NFC device
Transfer a file through NFC+Wifi Direct one a device is detected
What hardware/software would I need to make a proof of concept?
Which route should I take?
Purchase an MOTOACTV device and mod it? Using what software/hardware exactly?
Use one of the below kits?
Liquidware Starter Kit
Liquidware Development Kit
KIT210 (Android 2.3)
KIT4412-I (Android 4.0)
ORIGEN 4 Quad Evaluation Board
ARM11 Android Single Board Computer Development Kit
If a dev kit is my best bet, what software hardware would I need to mod it to my needs?
Thanks for helping out a N00b
Hello XDA-forum users,
I've been a fan of this forum and followed alot of guides etc.. Rooted and flashes my HTC Wildfire Buzz (A3333) to CM. Now I'm a persistent aircrack-ng user on linux platform and I know it's possible to get custom made drivers from a blog somewhere on working for some Broadcast chipsets. My phone has a Qualcomm MSM7225 / ARM1136EJ-S chipset and thus not compatible.
I've been thinking to get an external USB adapter to get monitor anyway. Now before buying it, I wanted to hear you guys out to ask if my phone will recognize it as a genuine adapter without installing any further drivers.. Also would the phone have enough battery output to supply both the phone and adapter. Last, I wanted to ask some of you that already own one to give me some tips on the "better" external usb adapters, which ones do I pick?
Thanks in advance

hi everyone,
just a request for any of you smart folks to put together a kernel with OTG + Charging for the Nexus 9. i need this for a current project and am stuck without it (and not really smart enough to do it myself).
anyone interested?

Hi there, OTG works out of the box on the kernel-side. That means Mouse, keyboard and storage do work pretty much out of the box. Stock and AOSP Android have USB Storage disabled inside the OS though. Check out USBDISK and OTG Commits from here to get Android to show and mount thumb drives: android_device_htc_flounder
2Amps charging is hacked into the kernel, see: commit by usbhost
For OTG + charging at the same time you just need a cable like that one: amazon
Thanks for the response, gladiac. It looks like those cables won't charge with OTG at the same time. I just got one today and it doesn't work, OTG does but plugging in the charger does nothing. I heard there is a kernel hack to get it working (apparently done on the nexus 7) and was wondering if it was possible for the nexus 9 too
We had this discussion already in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nex...ging-nexus-9-using-otg-cable-usb-hub-t2950726
It does not look like it will work.
thanks lfrst05, i will check on that thread.
I have here a phone I am planning on using as my pilot project into android development and need some help determining some things.
I know that as a beginner this is not going to be easy but I hope working my way through this will enable me to learn a lot in the process. I recently got hold of a Samsung clone powered by a Mediatek mt6572 processor. I chose this because 1) the phone is cheap 2) I view Mediatek processors as virtually "un-brickable" and 3) it will be challenging if not impossible. The problem I am facing now is that I got it used with a broken screen and digitizer. Having replaced both I am now faced with my first challenge getting the kernel to properly support the replacements.
The touchpad is not recognized at all (or at least it doesn't respond) and the image on the screen seems to be inverted along the y axis. I am in the process of gathering information and would like to know is there anyway to discern the relevant driver for the touchpad while only knowing the controller IC?
I have been searching online trying to find a product that it was used in but so far the only thing I have been able to find is the datasheet.
tl;dr; I need help finding the driver that would support the controller IC for the touch-pad on my phone. The IC is made by Chipone and is in the INC830x series. INC8305M to be exact.
Thanks for your help.
please delete this thread I just realised that I'm not allowed to post questions here

Why so? This forum is even called Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting. If it is a question, it is a Q&A (question and answer) and if you need help, it is still part of the forum and if you need troubleshooting it is also part of the forum.

oh ok, I must've misread it then : ) well, here goes..
I am planning to buy a new DAP which can also work as a DAC, and there are actually quite a few Gadgets out there that combine DAPs and DACs into one as some of you might know.
My question now is, is Android 5 Lollipop upwards able to work with External DACs that use Asynchronous Data Transfer? I am asking this because I have heard that Android 5 had USB Audio Playback integrated, which leads me to the (maybe farfetched) assumption that the newer Android OS should also work with Asynchronous DACs, is that possible?
To be a bit more specific, I am thinking about getting a FiiO x5ii in order to use as a standalone DAP now and again, but I mainly wana use the device as an external DAC for my Note 7. In their official forums FiiO says the FiiO X5ii can not be used as a DAC for Android Smartphones because the Smartphone expects Synchronous Data Transfer whilst the X5ii is designed for Asynchronous Data Transfer. Now I know there's an App called USB Audio Player Pro which bypasses the Android OS and allows Asynchronous DACs like the X5 (specifically mentioned in their compatibility list) to function but I rely on ID3 Tags that only Rocket Player can give me.
I have been doing a lot of research on the internet about this topic but I havent found a clear answer yet that would justify spending 350 bucks on a device that might not work for what I intend it to. The alternative would be to just get an Audioquest Dragonfly (which is not a DAP I'm aware of that) because I have read a lot of good things about them and they are pretty small, but I can imagine having a cable stuck from the bottom of my Note 7 with a USB Stick hanging from it can be a bit awkward and unpractical when I walk around having to grab my phone from my pocket frequently in order to rate songs on my screen or whatever.
Any input or thoughts on this would really be appreciated : )
