screen on delay on wake up - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i recently exchanged my one x with galaxy s3
i have a problem that when phone screen is off (in deep sleep) (or 5-10 after last screen off) it takes around 1 second to turn screen on again
i.e when i press power or home button it takes 1 second for screen to show up
this was not a problem on one x or other phone i have seen
and i have tried many roms(all 4.4.4 based) different kernels etc
after searching i found that its samsungs deep sleep policy which sends phone into deep sleep and it takes a second to turn on hardware...
well i dont see many people complaining about this so iguess they may be not having this problem or solved their problem
is everyone having this issue? or only some unlucky like me?
is it any way possible to remove this delay with affecting battery life much?

It's normal, get used to it.

Screen wakeup delay problem

So say I dont use my phone for like 5 minutes or more. The phone goes to sleep and when I wake it up, it takes like 1-1.5 seconds to respond and for the screen to light up. This is very annoying and I want to fix this as quickly as possible. Any solutions?
This is normal with the stock kernel and even with custom kernels...
On the old times (not that old...) captivate had the same problem but they fixed on the custom kernels, maybe someone will be able to fix that in the future.

[Q] Screen quickly auto-dims and shuts off

I've had my T-Mobile HTC One for about two weeks now. Maybe 4-5 days ago it started to auto-dim the screen very quickly (after only a few seconds) and then a few seconds later it shuts it off, and I have to unlock it. This has gotten highly annoying. Under the display settings I have auto brightness off, and the auto sleep turned off as well (currently set to 15 seconds). Is this a software issues, or possibly faulty sensors?
I also have a couple other minor gripes with the hardware, namely the sleep/wake button is slightly depressed on the right side meaning it takes more effort if I push it on that side. I can push the left side no problem. This makes me nervous as I'm afraid this button may get stuck and it's the only way to turn the screen on/off since this phone lacks a "home" button like the GS3/4. I'm thinking more and more that I may need to just get a replacement, but I don't want a refurb. Any input would be appreciated.

[Q] More like tap 5 times to wake?

Hi guys, just a quickie,
So I've enabled double tap to wake on my Z2, but sometimes it takes up to 10 taps for the device to wake up. Can a screen protector make the difference here? Or is it normal?
I notice the same thing sometimes. What I find is if the phone goes into a deep sleep (screen doesn't turn on for say 10 mins), it takes more than 2 taps to wake it a lot of the time. But if you turn the screen off, and tap twice within a few seconds, it works most of the time. Just my observations though.
Tapping a little bit harder works most of the time for me
Yeah it's the problem with deep sleep. I saw the same thing on many other devices. HTC One m8 and LG G2 Mini for example. Most of the time it's triple tap to wake
I found out that I was tapping way too quick.
Try tapping really slow, like once per second, and it almost works every time.
But it sucks because it is slow because of that, going to the power button is faster....
I usually just tap the screen until it turns on, but messes my PIN up good to know that it's not only my screen that's cold hearted to these poor little taps though

Double Tabing Issue (Knock on to wake up!)

Hi Friends,
One problem which bother me a lot is knock on to wake up feature on LG V10. When I decided to turn my screen on as phone is on table, I have to use double tabs to wake up my phone and start using it. Sometimes it take 2 or 3 time of double tab screen to wake my phone up. You know, I have to try knock on feature twice or thrice to get in to my phone. This problem 60 % of time and it really annoying me a lot. It is worthwhile to say that knock feature for turning of screen is work nicely and 100 % of time without any lag. Is this a serious problem which I have to worried about?
Thanks guys.
This doesn't happen on my phone. When i tap twice it turns on every time. Maybe you can factory reset, and see if it solves the problem.
It happens to me a lot. It's not NEARLY as sensitive as on the G2/G3/G4. It takes almost 3x as many tries for me to get the Knock On to even work.

I'd estimate it to work on the first try about 70% of the time. Otherwise, I have to try again or a third time sometimes. My girlfriend's G4 has the same issue.

S6 Edge screen won't turn on (but otherwise works fine)

Hi everyone,
I'm sure this question has been asked by many users, but for some reason none of the ones I read seem to match the problems with my S6 Edge.
The other day I was playing music Youtube on my 3 year old S6 edge (for like 30min) and I forgot that autoplay was off, so the screen turned off, within 10 seconds of it doing so, I pressed the home button to 'wake it up again', but the screen won't turn on. the phone reboots once by itself but the screen remains off, and I know the phone's on because of the blinking LED light of messages, or the red when it is charging. The backlight lights up too, and it seems the screen's touch system works, as I am able to turn it off. I wait for a couple of minutes before hard resetting it (Volume down+Power key) and the screen lights up again and it's all good.
However, I have noticed this happening way too many times lately and noticed a bit of a trend. It usually happens when I use any app (except the music app) for 30 minutes or more, and if I manage to keep the screen awake, it works perfectly fine. The problem begins when the screen sleeps due to inactivity, or is voluntarily turned off. It also heats up quite a bit.
I am on the latest firmware, and have already formatted the phone once and tried, yet the problem persists. With that I suppose we can rule out that the problem is due to any third party app, or due to not updating the firmware. I also replaced the motherboard last year at a reputable phone repair shop, so I think it's a safe bet to say that's not the issue, but I am not 100% sure (the problems began 6 months after I 'unrooted' the phone, after replacing the motherboard).
As I kept going with it, it kept getting worse until eventually, now the phone is in a constant state of 'screen off but phone on', where it charges, plays music, can receive calls and messages, but cannot turn on the screen. I kept trying at 15 minute intervals to no avail, even though the phone is at room temperature.
Before I go blow a couple more 100 bucks on fixing this, I would like to hear all of your opinions on what the problem might be (and hopefully the solution).
Thanks in advance.
i have the same problem but i have the galaxy s7 edge. often i can unlock my phone but my screen will stay black. no aod or backlight but the vibration from unlocking with fingerprint is there and the sounds of opening an app are also there...
