[Q] More like tap 5 times to wake? - Xperia Z2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, just a quickie,
So I've enabled double tap to wake on my Z2, but sometimes it takes up to 10 taps for the device to wake up. Can a screen protector make the difference here? Or is it normal?

I notice the same thing sometimes. What I find is if the phone goes into a deep sleep (screen doesn't turn on for say 10 mins), it takes more than 2 taps to wake it a lot of the time. But if you turn the screen off, and tap twice within a few seconds, it works most of the time. Just my observations though.

Tapping a little bit harder works most of the time for me
Yeah it's the problem with deep sleep. I saw the same thing on many other devices. HTC One m8 and LG G2 Mini for example. Most of the time it's triple tap to wake

I found out that I was tapping way too quick.
Try tapping really slow, like once per second, and it almost works every time.
But it sucks because it is slow because of that, going to the power button is faster....

I usually just tap the screen until it turns on, but messes my PIN up good to know that it's not only my screen that's cold hearted to these poor little taps though

Capacitative Key* Screen Timeout Warning

Got the E3D on launch date and I love every single thing about it. The only thing im waiting for now is root, but thats another thread & story.(BUMP, ROOTZ, I GOTZ THAT) Right before your screen gets ready to shut off, all the soft keys at the bottom would flicker letting you know that the timeout is about 3 to five seconds to hitting zero and shutting off completly. Tapping the screen right after the first flicker will cause the soft keys to flicker again letting you know you restarted the screen timeout to whatever setting you have it set to (15 secs, 30 secs, etc). I noticed this last night while reading a long article about a docter talking about 3D and the affects on the human eye. Dont worry, no damage from long term use, but reading long stories in the dark is where i see it coming in handy the most.

[Q] Screen quickly auto-dims and shuts off

I've had my T-Mobile HTC One for about two weeks now. Maybe 4-5 days ago it started to auto-dim the screen very quickly (after only a few seconds) and then a few seconds later it shuts it off, and I have to unlock it. This has gotten highly annoying. Under the display settings I have auto brightness off, and the auto sleep turned off as well (currently set to 15 seconds). Is this a software issues, or possibly faulty sensors?
I also have a couple other minor gripes with the hardware, namely the sleep/wake button is slightly depressed on the right side meaning it takes more effort if I push it on that side. I can push the left side no problem. This makes me nervous as I'm afraid this button may get stuck and it's the only way to turn the screen on/off since this phone lacks a "home" button like the GS3/4. I'm thinking more and more that I may need to just get a replacement, but I don't want a refurb. Any input would be appreciated.

screen on delay on wake up

i recently exchanged my one x with galaxy s3
i have a problem that when phone screen is off (in deep sleep) (or 5-10 after last screen off) it takes around 1 second to turn screen on again
i.e when i press power or home button it takes 1 second for screen to show up
this was not a problem on one x or other phone i have seen
and i have tried many roms(all 4.4.4 based) different kernels etc
after searching i found that its samsungs deep sleep policy which sends phone into deep sleep and it takes a second to turn on hardware...
well i dont see many people complaining about this so iguess they may be not having this problem or solved their problem
is everyone having this issue? or only some unlucky like me?
is it any way possible to remove this delay with affecting battery life much?
It's normal, get used to it.

Tap to wake not working occasionally

Hello everyone,
I'm having issues with my Xperia Z5c and its double tap to wake feature.
Sometimes it just doesn't wake up the first 2 or 3 times and it needs 3 or 4 attempts.
Sometimes it works on first try.
I don't know why and it's annoying.
I use a tempered glas screen protector, but I have no sensitivity issues at all during normal use. And someone in another forum stated that he uses a glas protector and has no issues with tap to wake.
Any ideas?
Thanks & regards

I run my phone naked and have the same issues. I've disabled the fingerprint scanner as I just check the time often and the double tap thing really doesn't like to work after its been locked for longer times.
Sometimes i need to double-tap 2 times but maybe it's related to the speed of the touch. Never needed 3 or 4 times, tough
Tap-to-wake has never worked well on my Z5C. I usually have better luck tapping three times instead of two.
I have both a z5c and a z5p dualsim and both experience the same double tap to wake issues. No screen protectors on either. I've tried glove mode which didn't make a difference. The best thing that works for me is using my thumb for tap to wake. I can tap 5 to 10 times with a finger and it sometimes works and many times it doesn't. Tap two times with a thumb and it wakes up. Double Tabing Issue (Knock on to wake up!)

Hi Friends,
One problem which bother me a lot is knock on to wake up feature on LG V10. When I decided to turn my screen on as phone is on table, I have to use double tabs to wake up my phone and start using it. Sometimes it take 2 or 3 time of double tab screen to wake my phone up. You know, I have to try knock on feature twice or thrice to get in to my phone. This problem 60 % of time and it really annoying me a lot. It is worthwhile to say that knock feature for turning of screen is work nicely and 100 % of time without any lag. Is this a serious problem which I have to worried about?
Thanks guys.
This doesn't happen on my phone. When i tap twice it turns on every time. Maybe you can factory reset, and see if it solves the problem.
It happens to me a lot. It's not NEARLY as sensitive as on the G2/G3/G4. It takes almost 3x as many tries for me to get the Knock On to even work.

I'd estimate it to work on the first try about 70% of the time. Otherwise, I have to try again or a third time sometimes. My girlfriend's G4 has the same issue.
