GPSD on Galaxy S 5 sm-g900h - Galaxy S 5 Themes and Apps

Any Ideas?? Again GPSD sucking up my battery, Just did a Factory Reset and nothing. Same problem on my I-9300

Did you turned on gps / location?

I had this issue with my Note 2. Probably an application is causing the issue.

How did you do your reset? If you're willing to try it again, I suggest using Odin to bring it back to total stock which will leave nothing from any ROM on your device.
Update: I found this link that seems worth a read. It seems to be an application requesting fine location; it would most likely be something you installed at some point.

Yeap.. and disable samsungs remote control and uninstall google talk and google music

Installed XtreStoLite rom on my SM-G900H and deleted most of the apps but still the same. **** samsung!

Try settings GPS to power saving mode in settings. I've never had this problem on my phone. Besides even without your problem, having GPS to high accuracy is bad for the battery life.
If nothing works, enable USB Debugging in Developer Options and flash latest KK firmware available (I'm on it) with Odin.

Maybe you are enabling remote device

[Q] "Bluetoothtest"-process draining battery, what is it?

Hi.
I recently upgraded to 4.0.3, and installed Go launcher and Go Powermaster.
However, according to the batterystats "Android OS" is using up to 33% of the batterypower. When i check in Go Powermaster, it says that "BluetoothTest" is using as much as 35%, and it's state is always 'running'. Even if i forceclose it it's back within seconds.
I might use bluetooth like once in two weeks, and it's always disabled otherwise.
So the question is obvious, what is this bluetoothtest and how do I stop it from draining my battery? ;p

if you're rooted, you can freeze with using titanium backup.
from its name i think its an application to check if your bluetooth is working or not.
WOuldn't freezing it, just make the OS use power on keep trying to start it?
Even if you disable the bluetooth you have this process running?

Yes, I almost never use BT so it's always off.
Solved ?!
Hi,
I'm having the exact same issue on my SII.
It's fully reset to factory defaults and running Android 4.0.3, also with Go Launcher and GO Powermaster.
Bluetooth is always disabled, but the "BluetoothTest" Task is about 40% of my overall battery drain.
Did you find a way to solve this?
Regards, Vanon
for those who got prblms of wakelocks like bt,stest, sns, etc etc if u got tb or mytoolbox an this is a gr8 tool u can freez ,unfreez sys app or apps....an ya if ur not using bt jus freeze any thing stating by bt..no it will not try to power on u can also remove some unwanted apps...jus try an post ur results it helps others too.......cheeeerz
I have the same problem, any solutions?
Very same issue on Galaxy NOTE under ICS Kingdroid 1.5 rom.
same with Galaxy SII on android 4.0.3
same issue with Galaxy S4 GT-I9500
Same issue with Sgh-i727. Was anyone ever able to resolve this issue?
Upgrade to JB via OTA... Otherwise root it and freeze that bluetooth test application.

battery life and very warm phone

Hi,
I have found that my battery which currently is still the standard one drains very fast and my phone is getting very warm.
However I have noticed that once my battery hits 50% it cools down and does not deplete so quickly.
I do have a programme that is left running which is a VOIP / SIP client I use CSipSimple.
Is there something that I could try to get the phone to last longer on the battery?

1. Post your ROM details. Goto Settings - About, post everything, preferably a screenshot.
2. Post screenshot of your battery info
3. Download better battery stats (paid in playstore, free on XDA), and check what's causing the problem.
4. Download cpuspy, run it for some time and check your cpu usage
Swyped from my Samsung Galaxy SII
Hi,
Ok I have attached a few screen shots as asked
I have downloaded CPU SPY and will leave this to gather some info and I have also downloaded BATTERY SPY and will do the same.
Do you have a link to better battery stats?
I have also noticed that when I leave my phone on when charging it gets very very hot and sometimes does not full charge after a 9 hr charging window.
However if I switch the phone off it stays cool and is fully charged.
First try to remove your external sd card and check if problem has been solved. Sometimes if there are corrupted media files or there is huge amount of such data, media scanner gone crazy and bootloops itself when trying to index them all.
You could use some kind of apps to disable media scanner (old Nitrality or something newer like Rescan Media ROOT) or remove your movies, music and pictures temporary from phone. After that wipe data of media storage and gallery from settings-applications menu and reboot your phone.
Of course do not overclock your phone. You could also try to set it in battery saving (eco) mode when charging. Disable all wireless communication (mobile data, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS) and turn Airplane mode on.
Sometimes phone is getting hot while playing games when WiFi or mobile data are enabled. This could be kernel related issue (if custom) or inproper to your baseband Radio Interface Layer (RIL) driver installed. You can fix it by installing Getril from playstore and downloading ril corresponding to actually used baseband.
Of course it could be also some crapware on your phone installed. Or configuration issues (scheduled tasks, etc.) I don't know what kind of apps you have got on your device and how you using them. If your problem persist than try to factory reset your phone to be sure that this is not some kind of app issue.

How do I find out which RIL I need and where can I download it from?
You can choose it in this app. Tap on the ril above 'Download & install Ril ' button and select one which match your baseband or leave this proposed by app and hit mentioned above button.

Thought you would say that I have tried that but it still tells me the RIL and Baseline do not match after I have installed it.
In this case you could try to flash LPA modem (for this one you have ril installed). Or flash any other modem you like and than change your ril.
Reboot after changing to be sure it's properly loaded.

I'm getting similar issues, phone heating up, battery draining very fast. I've recently brought a new 2500mA battery from Ebay, and have been getting very fast drain issues. It has been going on for a few days now, even before the new battery. If you could tell me how to set up better battery stats, I'd happily provide you with a dump. I've tried changing from ICS to JB. Downloaded the correct RIL. Reset the fuel gauge, calibrated the battery at 100% Only thing I've not tried is gingerbread (I've never had GB on this device) and starting over with ODIN.

I'm using the latest Resurrection Remix Jellybean rom with Siyah Kernel v.4.1.2 . I'm gonna put my standard battery in for the night and leave the betterbattery stats running. Still not sure how to work it. Do I just install and give it roof access? I've flashed back to stock using Odin and the drain was still present.

[Q] gpsd drain even while GPS off?

Hi!
I have been having an issue with my S III lately. For some time I have been trying to understand and configure my gps settings so that I could have gps always activated, without it draining the battery too heavily. I mainly tried manipulating my apps' location settings.
With no consistent results, I ultimately decided to try and turn gps off altogether in the pull down bar. Now, here's the issue; even with gps off, both the stock battery tool and GSam Battery Monitor report a 25% battery drain by "gpsd".
What am I doing wrong, and what can be done about it?
Thanks!
Stock S III, 4.1.2, unrooted.
Didn't wipe data when you upgraded?
Wipe the data of the service responsible.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Thanks! If you are referring to the Android update, I simply installed it without wiping anything.
What exactly would wiping data entail?

I am pretty sure I disabled everything connected with Google and location...
Sorry for posting in the wrong place, will do next time!
it seems there is a bug in gpsd. sometime it hangs at 100% cpu (25% -> 1 of 4 cores) you can check this in shell with "top" cmd
if it hangs only a reboot help.
you will notice a bit lag when you switch your phone on and it gets a bit warm when this happens
for me it happens once every 1-4 days and i have allready disabled all google location settings and samsung security settings
any idea ? i dont find anything else on google.
btw. it looks like this started happen with XELLA but cant say it for sure
/inteks
That sounds exactly like the issue I have been having, especially it happening only one in every few days.
I can confirm that it seems to have had a definitive starting point, but not sure what changes I made at that point. What do you mean by XELLA? And are any other ways of telling when this happens?

Bluetooth stopped working....

Whenever I now try and switch bluetooth on it instantly snaps the button back to the off position, I have tried turning it on in loads of different ways and it just won't come back on...
It was working fine till yesterday, I installed Swapp Link app and let it manage the BT connection and now it won't switch on... I have remove / reinstalled the app and restarted phone etc, nothing has fixed it.. any ideas? ;(

Maybe that app has rule to switch your BT?
If you don't have it, try to restart TS and wipe both cache from recovery (if you have it)

Bluetooth also suddenly stopped working for me. And it is not possible to turn it on. To make things more interesting - I didn't install anything on my omate since I upgraded to TEST_RELEASE_Omate_2100_TrueSmart_20140314.zip on the day when my omate 8GB/1GB 2100 arrived more than a month ago. It worked fine all this time, and without any visible cause it just stopped today.
I wanted to tether to ipad to provide internet connection, while riding in a bus, and suddenly snap - bluetooth turned itself off. I tried restarting omate. I couldn't figure anything to get it back to work.
it happened exactly 6 hours ago. About the time when you made your post.

how to do a hard reset of omate, without voiding the warranty? Do I need to wait until battery runs out?
No, just turn off quickboot and power the watch down. When you turn it back on Bluetooth will probably reinitialize and work again. For a while.

Quickboot didn't knock it out. The defective TrueSmart MTK firmware and hardware combination cause all sorts of problems with using Bluetooth, including some that require a full power cycle reset. That is not possible with Quickboot enabled unless the battery runs down or is removed.

Glad to see your BT and TS are working fine now...
All el devices could be "fixed" by restarting it.
They are all using RAM and/or dalvik cache and that has to cleared sometimes...
Dalvik cache is a "place" where Android decompile apk files for quicker access, so when you wip dalvik cache from recovery you are clearing everything so system has to decompile apk files again and RAM is cleared also...
It's like fresh start and it "fix" many software issues that way...
If you have ADB tools and rooted device, you can use adb reboot from adb shell, no need to open your watch, lose warranty and pull battery out...

5.1 update keep disabling mobile data

Hi fokls,
I recently updated to 5.1 ( Lollipop). I am on Tmobile and for some reasons, the mobile data setting kept getting disabled frequently.
Anyone knows what to do to fix the issue. I have tried pure stock as well as with root. None of them seems to fix the issue.

I tried that, it didn't work. I'm waiting on it to happen again to see if I can just re-enable mobile data.
Even if I can, this is still a very annoying problem. You'll miss a lot of emails, and messages. Yet another reason you might not want Lollipop

Its strange though. But if you go to the setting, then mobile data, you will see that it is turned off. Turning it back on, will re-enable it. I dont know why it does it though. No need for air plane toggle.
Is there any possibility this problem could be tied to a default power-saving setting that is turning mobile data off to conserve battery?
Just a thought.

I did two things, but I haven't had this happen since I did them.
1. Renamed HwPowerGenieEngine3.apk and HwPowerGenieEngine3.odex to disable them. (just add .bak to the end) They are located in "root/system/app/HwPowerGenieEngine3/" and "/<SAME/ARM/"
2. Enabled the option in Mobile Network settings to "Always-on mobile data"
Like I said, I don't know for sure if either really fixed it, but I haven't been having this problem for the past 2 days.
#1 . do I need root to rename the files?

I have no answer for you but, I am on T-Mobile and that's not happening to me. My WiFi becomes disabled sometimes/rarely. Also USB debugging gets disabled as soon as I back out of the settings for it. This is on B309.
My friend and I both using HAM2 on Wind, still on 4.3. Phone signal (not only Data) frequently turned itself off, then turned back on after a minute or longer.
Could it be the AWS (1700) frequency not reacting well to Huawei power genie?
I tried using "Normal" instead of "Smart" power saving scheme but no joy. Just froze "Power Genie" app via Titanium Backup. I think it turns the power saving feature off completely. Will monitor to see if it helps. I'll trade network stability for shorter battery life.
Apparently this problem is getting worse with Lollipop update.
