Hi All!
I;m searching for the factory firmware for the Zeki TBDG874B 8" tablet made by Gigabyte.
Calling Gigabyte for the firmware is like calling the butcher for strawberries, and Zeki is about as useless as teets on a bull.
I've been searching all morning and have come up with nothing.
Tablet will not boot, and important files (resumes and other documents) are stored on it.
It gets to the Zeki logo and thats it. Factory 3e recovery still works, but wipe data/factory reset just locks it up.
ADB won't connect either, so this is my last option.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Since there's been no action or reply on this thread, could an admin please delete it? I've given up on getting any help with this device.

This is incredible--I can't find anything on this specific tablet. I have the same issue where my tablet doesn't boot. It gets to the Android bootanimation but that's it. When I try to factory reset/wipe data, the device locks up just as yours days.
These Zeki tablets are trash--or at least the TBDG874B. I've found flashable zips for other devices, but not this one in particular...

I'm trying to contact another developer here who apparently has the firmware image.
The factory image is stored in the mtd6 partition, which I can't access since I've lost root access.
If I could figure out how to push something through sideload to regain root, I might be able to extract the original image.

Same happen to my friends tablet. No download mode, Adb doesn't work just says device closed or something similar and no firmware available.

If I could find someone with a working tablet, maybe I could walk them through the process of extracting the firmware?
Maybe help us all out?

I'd be interested in a firmware dump if you could get it. Is your tablet rooted or completely stock?
Sent from my EVO using XDA Forums Pro.
I've actually gotten mine to boot, just without the screen coming on. I was able to research and find other devices with the same motherboard and tried flashing their firmware.
Ainol makes devices with the same firmware revision, but they don't have an 8" model with 800x480 resolution, so the screen on mine won't even light up.
Sent from my EVO using XDA Forums Pro.
I've had some luck with getting to the nitty gritty of this old tablet. Using the Ainol firmware built for the batch 3 Crystal, I was able to get a working uboot and image installed, but I'm still trying to figure out what's actually missing from the build that would keep the display from coming on. It's practically the same hardware except the screen size, which the crystal uses a different display. Same Mali-400 GPU, same WiFi, same amount of memory, even the same Micron 8gb nand. I still don't have any factory image to work from, which would show me exactly what's different.
I CAN access some basic functions through adb, but only after flashing the firmware and leaving it on. Turning it off puts it right back in flash mode with no system installed.
I've got a lot more things going on in life to spend more than a couple hours with this thing, but I hope I get somewhere with it soon.

I've got a fresh tablet if I can help get that firmware
Where do you stand with getting a firmware dump. I have one of these tablets that went to the way of no longer booting or resetting etc etc and I have one that is still totally working. It is not rooted and in out of the box state and I doubt the owner hardly ever did any updates or anything. I'd like to play around with figuring out how to get this working so if I can be of assistance with my working tablet let me know.

Might as well dump it! Mine's still busted (and I got a much more reliable device to replace it), but a dump would still be greatly appreciated!

my bad, I was thinking you meant that you had the factory ROM but after coming back and rereading your comment I realize you were talking about the tablet. I should have paid more attention bc I've read this thread b4, including your comment.

So I changed a few things in the build.prop-file to get incompatible apps work on my TF 201 but then I somehow restarted it and now it won't boot anymore. Well it shows up the Asus logo and so one but then the screen just stays black (but still illuminated).
I already wiped the data and tried the recovery mode (with the Volume-down/up-button) but they didnt work, it still doesnt boot.
So any ideas which could help me? Im thankful for every help I can get
Maybe let the battery run out. There is also the reset button in the pinhole next to the SD card slot.
Why do people keep taking such risks. There has been a few threads already of some trying to do the same thing and bricking their device. Where these apps so great n important to now have possibly bricked your device? Instead of editing build. Props you could've used another device with same screen size resolution. For example a gameloft game, modern combat 3. Won't work on Prime because it says its incompatible. That is b.s. Prime just wasn't added to support list yet. So I used an Acer500 , same screen size resolution, version and it worked perfectly. A simple wrkaround without risking editing the app and causing a possible bootloop or brick.
Hope you get it up n running soon. Maybe letting the battery completely die and charging back up may clear whatever you did. I won't risk anything till atleast bootloader unlocked n we have recovery also. GOOD LUCK.
I already let the battery run out twice but it doesnt help, when I plug it in again, it just boots normally till the part where the screen stays black.
And the reset button under the sd card slot just reboots the device normally.
try to return it from wherever you bought it they will never even know what happened to it

I have the same problem with being stuck in bootloop. I've done the pinhole reset, as well as the power+volume reset... nothing works. I've let the battery drain.. nothing.
I just got off the phone with Asus customer support. They told me to return the tablet. Guess where I'm going today? Best Buy and returning it.
And yes, I'll probably get another Prime. They are just so Beautiful!

You sure about that? I bought it from Amazon btw. But I read that some people got the same problem by just applying an official firmware update, so I guess it's really possible that they will never find out what really happened .
but I think there's no other possibility but returning it. :/
I'll give you $50 for it. J/K.... Good luck getting it running.
I don't quite understand how some people can make changes with out us being able to use Clockwork recovery yet. I would return it, they will probably give you a replacement.
Wait til Feb. Asus will prolly release a restore tool along with the bootloader unlock. Like the ruu for htc phones.

Nope. Didn't have to tell them anything. It wouldn't leave the bootloader screen. So I did both types of factory resets. They only way thy find out that I rooted it is when it gets back to Asus, they are somehow to get a computer to recognize it (mine won't), and look at the root files therein.
I had no problem returning mine!
Hope that helps!
Did you at least make a backup of the build.prop? I think the system will make one automatically I am just not sure how to go about getting it. I would guess if you can get into it with adb you could pull the backup rename it and push it to the /system. I don't know the commands but I am guessing someone who has posted stuff in the development section does, maybe that would work. Also, I am not sure there is a way to clear the cache/dalvik cache. Maybe through adb somehow which might have to be done as well.
I just don't know enough about adb and the commands to get it done.
Problem is, adb doesnt work because the device isnt recognized. It always says "No device found" or anything like that. Well I'll send it back to Amazon but I think they will send it then to Asus, so there's a chance that they will find it out, right?
Well. My curiousty led to a hard-bricked phone
It's definetly official. I am not going to install any more custom roms after this. To make my story breif. I aquired a motorola atrix 2 phone, and had read it could accomdate a custom rom, so I used a one click root method program and the program said it had done its job. I booted into the recovery and installed the rom, which ended in an infinite reboot. Great, so I read more on how to revert back to firmware using rsd lite. I did this, but the battery was dead. so I went out and purchased anther battery, attempted the restore, phone restart, then BOOM. it stayed black and now it wont come on. wtf.
Can any please recommend the proper cable I have to order to get the phone back working>?

Thank you. But an experienced repair guy said my phone wasn't responding to neither the USB jtag or the fast boot. So my phone is dead forever? Should I start digging its grave?
Sure sounds this way, and you shouldn't be doing JTAG through the USB port anyway unless your phone is something special I've never heard of
But in truth rooting your phone won't damage it, it just gives someone the opportunity to do so. I'm a firm believer in rooting all androids so long as they read and understand what they are doing, its very hard to brick a phone if you know what you're doing
So although this phone may be dead forever (unless you find someone who for sure knows the proper way to JTAG it) then still consider rooting your next one, just be sure to completely understand what's going on, and try to stay away from one click roots, its hard to learn anything from this
Best of luck on your next phone
*side note, if you still have warranty and your phone is completely unresponsive chances are you will get your warranty exchange, just play dumb and say "I was playing angry birds and it just froze, now it won't turn on"

I wish I had warranty on this thing. I got it second hand from craigslist. However i've managed to acquire an HTC inspire 4G, what an upgrade from a motorola cliq xt! I would love to install jelly bean on this thing but after messing up the Atrix 2 i'm scared I will F*ck this one up too. I can never find clear and concise instructions on the internet. Every web page I visit, it seems to be someones personal way of doing it. Steps not mentioned, or instructions written for intermediate users. For example, Every video or piece of instruction i've watched on youtube regarding booting into the fast boot on the atrix 2, said something about holding volume up and power button upon booting and I would see something on the top of the screen. However that did not work, First I had to use the volume down and power button, then I would get to this fastboot screen where those recovery options werent available, from there I had to hold both volume buttons down and press the power button twice which would bring me to the recovery options screen. thats just one example, and even then for some reasons I didn't have all the recovery options the instructions spoke of... for example. Very annoying and frustrating. On a side note, is there anyone on this site who lives in the US that can unbrick my atrix 2? The guy who repair phones I took it to said theres a device for 250.00 bucks he's waiting to get that can unbrick any device. However he doesnt have the funds and had gotten laid off work. I am just having a hard time believing a simple soft user error could permanently damage my device forever and that as sophiscated as our technology has gotten there's absolutely no way to revive it.

I can't attest to the videos you saw, but for most androids this is the best site with the most info, I only suggest being sure how to root before you do it, and to understand how the method works as well. When your not understanding this is when bricks happen.
I know it can be lots of reading and lots of questions but in the long run its worth the time
As for the JTAG equipment there are many who have it and you can easily spend less than 250 on getting the proper stuff.
Every logicboard is different so maybe this machine he speaks of has a wide variety of cables that come with it, but he's still paying too much
Anyway, most people seem to charge 50$ or so to JTAG it back, if that's more than the phone is worth to you just sell it on eBay for parts

Can you link me to clear and concise instructions on how to upgrade my 2.3.7 ( i think) to jellybean on an htc inspire 4g? and is there anyone here who can fix my phone that you know of?
HERE IS YOUR PHONES FORUM
you will find links to all the guides you need here, always read the stickies in each section, this tends to have the important info you need
then anything your not sure about should be asked in the proper place within this forum for the best answers
example, question on how to root should be asked in the how to root thread for best chance of a good answer, question on how to flash a new radio should be asked in a thread pertaining to this
im sorry but i dont know enough about your phone specificly to help further but hopefully the members in your device specific forum will
best of luck!

I've bricked my nook PLENTY of times. There's always a way to get it back. Try charging it through a computer overnight (NOT through the wall) and see if that does anything. If that doesn't work, have you looked at all the unbrick guides here? It should be fixable.
As a last resort, I could e-mail you and you could send it to me and I'll try to work my magic on it. Assuming I get it fixed, you should get it in a couple weeks (as long as you cover the return shipping cost).
But before any of that, just go through all the unbrick guides here. One of them is BOUND to work. I personally recommend this thread here:

Sorry, I'm just frustrated. And yes, I would love to be the one that fixes it. I've been modding my phones for years and just did my Samsung Tab 3 7.0. I'm addicted. The Nook is my nemesis....!
I'd rather you give it a shot first! I erased my ROM partition from clockworkmod and had to use the factory partition to fix it. You'll have to use ADB to fix it but it should be VERY easy to fix. Just copy and paste somebody's factory partition on to your nook and you should be good to go. You may have to edit a file in there and input your nook's serial number (located on the back of the microsd flap). The feeling you'll get after you fix it yourself is a GREAT feeling!

Sounds easy enough, Where can I get the rom and instructions? I'm totally willing but need guidance. Believe me, I have tried what I thought was everything and always knew that what your'e telling me is what I needed to do but was unable to get what I needed. Frustrating to say the least. I really do appreciate everyone's help. You have my email or the web, I will take in all that you have to show me, such as....."where to go to get what I need" What is the difference between "the factory partition" and "somebody's factory partition" or is it one and the same? And for the life of me, I could never get the nook to show up on my desktop or notebook while in CWM. I can sit here and whine all night but I wont.... I will look, read , search and try again and keep you posted as to what happens. If you have any good links, shoot them to me in an email please..... Next time I post, It will be to say I have trashed it or fixed it, preferably the latter. Peace people and thanks.
Do you remember flashing the 10-point touch firmware? If you never flashed it, then go to the following link, download one of the stock recoveries from one her file host sites, and then do the 8 times failed reboot thing (when it's attempting to boot up, hold down the power and home button to force shut it off; do it 8 times maybe more if it doesn't work) and then it will restore it back to factory.

I have an Ematic EM63 that froze on me one day and now refuses to boot. I've tried to factory reset but it also just freezes and never completes. Can anyone help me with getting this tablet usable again? I wonder if reflashing the stock rom would work but of course I never backed up the tablet and can't find a stock rom image anywhere on the internet.

I wonder if reflashing the stock rom would work but of course I never backed up the tablet and can't find a stock rom image anywhere on the internet.

You may have to check the user manual (p.33) or contact the company directly. Other than that, I don't see much support for this tablet.
The customer support for this company is terrible. I called and explained that I'm unable to factory reset and all they did was send me an email explaining how to. If I could somehow find the stock rom for this tablet I think I might be able to fix it that way. Problem is that since it's not a popular tablet I can't seem to find one anywhere on the internet. If anyone has this tablet and could send me the stock rom for it that would be great.
I've had problems with the tablet ever since I purchased it. I warn anyone thinking about buying this tablet or any products from this company to stay clear.

Unfortunately, that's the problem with buying generic tablets, there's often little to no support. The benefit of buying brand name tablets is that the opposite is true. Of course you have to pay a bit more but it's worth it in the long run.
Seeking Stock Rom for soft bricked LG Sunset LGL33L on Straighttalk.
Hello, I need the help of xda on this one.
I installed kingroot on my LG Sunset (Lollipop) yesterday and everything was fine. Then I ran Super-Su-me and it soft bricked.
It won't get past the LG-Life's Good screen unless I leave it for 3 hours and then it moves to the Tracfone screen and stays like that.
I have searched all over for the stock rom for this phone and have not had any luck.
I am trying to use KDZ_1_4 to flash it but I need the correct .tot file and the .dll file
Can anyone help me on this one?
Thanks.
Anyone?
Tried to factory reset via stock recovery?

I have the same phone and same problem. rooted with kingroot, ran super-sume opened super su it downloaded and said it needed to reboot and in reboot it is stuck on lg screen. tried factory reset but it starts and goes back to lg screen and stays.
I'm in the exact situation as you. Have you been able to solve the issue yet?
I am pretty much having the same problem. My LG Sunset boots to the Tracfone screen and just sits there and does nothing. I cant even boot into recovery or anything.. I hope someone finds a solution to this cause I have not been able to use my phone for a few days.

Hey man, you need to get another phone asap. For tracfones, it's pretty much the end in cases like these. I actually got another exact (lgl21g) model from ebay, so that as soon as i get the time, will see how i can (if possible) get my softbricked device revived through my new one. But i have yet to research and at all costs, avoid softbricking my new one. As for now, no one else has any idea for a solution.
It kinda blows me away to know that the android community is completely oblivious to these kinds of recent low end, but useful android devices coming out on the straight talk service. For affordable androids, they're kinda neat. But it sucks that Tracfone has completely annihilated the essential utilities that such devices need in order to be revived by the user. I mean an actual bootloader menu to do modding and fixing through. The recovery option on these devices are pretty much useless.
But if you can. you should reply with a description that tells how your device was soft-bricked. As in, "did you use kingroot then Super SUME, which caused your device to freeze on LGs boot logo screen"? If so, then you are one of the many out there who xda needs to listen to, and heavily, i mean HEAVILY REGULATE these eff-ers [http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/paid-software/supersu-please-t3110954]. Because they need to specifically do more research into why their S~H~I~T~T~Y app is... well, S~H~I~T~T~Y! There are people out there promoting this app as though it is absolutely flawless and works on any android, but such a claim is far away from the truth, and these crap-app makers are only breeding more effing lying trolls. And sadly XDA mostly supports those big thugs with flagship phones problems ONLY. Not the little people like us, we're kinda on our own. SuperSUME is not supposed to force anything on the phone if it's not compatible, working something like kingroot if not being able to find a root method, then just telling the user it failed. Instead SuperSUME does something that effs it all up. Which is pretty much worse than malicious s/ware by itself.
So just hang on to your broken fone for now since it's not completely lost. Though you can take it into walmart and see if you can get a replacement, but I cannot promise you that i could come up with a solution, since I'm learning this crap from scratch as well. The only lead i have for now is to "Flash the device with it's firmware", which we know tracfone isn't gonna just hand out like free air. Sadly i'll have to reach out to XDA developers to help me once i describe this issue and experiment with whatever software out there that can help, if god willing.
FYI I just saw your post and Straight Talk sent me a new phone lol. Of course I didn't mention that I was trying to root it. The problem was actually McAfee Security. I didn't think about switching the setting off that locks the phone down if it's rooted. I made sure I did that on the new one and KingRoot worked just fine. ?
