Battery performance on 5.0 - Nexus 10 General

I haven't yet seen any type of discussion regarding the battery life after the 5.0 update so I thought I'd bring it up and see what others are getting.
As for myself, I manually flashed the image from Google and did a factory reset on all data. So far I am not impressed with the battery life. I could not be any happier with the fluidity, performance, etc, of the tablet after this update, but SOT has gotten immediately worse.
When new, this tab could easily rip off 6-7 hours SOT with my typical usage, almost all with Cyanogenmod. More recently it has been 5-6 hours, but then again it's two yeas old.
My most recent experiences as far as SOT: last night my tablet was at around 50% battery with only 1:47:00 SOT. That was with mixed usage: browsing, light gaming, and so on.
Just this morning I only did some web browsing and after 15 minutes of SOT the battery was at 90%. Typically on 4.4.4 (CM 11), I could expect 96% battery after 15 mins of web browsing.
Again, I'm still getting used to the battery performance with the update, and currently plan to drain the battery down to nothing and let it fully recharge. I was just curious as to how your battery experience has been with the 5.0 update.

I think my battery life has improved. Mainly browsing and watching Netflix. 30% left and well over 6h SOT.

Damn, well I either need to work on improving it or my battery is just losing it.

Mine has nearly doubled, I kid you not.
Out the box I never got more than 5.5 hrs out the nexus 10, tried a few custom ROMs with the same result. I'm now at 6 hrs SOT of video, browsing and using an art program and still have 40%. That's near enough ten hours. Well happy.

I haven't used mine yet in a comparable way to before the update, but so far it also "seems" like battery life has improved.

Well, like I'd planned, I ran it down to 0% last night. It actually got to 14% when it jumped to zero and died on me. I let it charge over night and the battery life has immediately improved. I'm guessing during the update the battery stats got a little messed up.

You should try installing "Deep sleep battery saver" from the appstore.. i use my n10 about 3-4 hours a night and charge it once a week.. DSBS is just amazing.. overnight i use like 1% or less while its off..

my battery life has improved by a huge amount, this was one of my major complaints of kitkat!

Battery life is worse than before for me, dont have actual numbers but it is definitly noticable...
Overall experience is so much better, great job
I did ota sideload...
Hoping for new OTA to fix that and other bugs like random audio loss (fixed by reboot) and that priority star notification that keeps turning on
No random reboots for now, on KK i had few a month but i blame Chrome for that.

I ended up having 8h 45min of SOT (4% left of battery). I did clean install from factory images.

After running it down to zero last night (remember it jumped from 14% to zero and died), I unplugged it this morning and browsed news and played a few turn-based game for 30 mins of SOT. When I put it down it was at 95%. If you do the math that is a projected 10 hours SOT. Now, realistically speaking, I don't expect it to keep that pace and hit ten hours, but it's much better than the 92% w/ 20 mins SOT that I was getting before the drain and recharge. We'll see how it goes from here.

[Razr MAXX] DE-BUNKING the Razr maxx battery life

There seems to be a lot of speculation and hype over the razr maxx battery.
Some people get 2 - 3 days, some only 12 hours.
I for one, get about 12 hours with moderate - heavy usage (ocxasionally).
As we all hope for we want that 17 hour /21 hour talk time motorola tells us.
I am using a Gsm model, so i would have expected a longer talk time than the 4G lte versions. It is a 3200mah battery (4G gets the 3300mah?)
I only get about 12 hours of continuous usage (5 hours off the 17 hour benchmark)
So im going to ask everyone that owns a razr maxx to screen shot their talk time.
Using the gsam battery monitor app which gives a good indication of how much talk time left based on calculations and usage.
My talk time, stand by and average time left is here:

With cpuspy app; it is properly deep sleeping too and under locked to 300mhz on screen off:
1)What's everyone else's maxx battery life like? Please post screen shot
2) does your razr maxx battery read 3300mah or 3200mah? Mine reads 3200mah..
At the moment it's been 3 hours and it's - 8% already.. Only played Internet radio for 15 minutes which drained 2%
Sent from my XT910 using xda app-developers app
I'm finding it lasts just as long as my desire z, which had less than half the battery size! I get a day comfortably but that's not the 2 days comfortably I was expecting/hoping for.
Don't have a screenshot but on my last charge it was around 1 day 2hrs, screen on 2.5hrs, no wifi, gps/bluetooth off. Using gsam and cpuspy and all looks ok pretty much. Although, digging into gsam app sucker, I notice that kernel is always the highest and I also notice that the sensor useage (accelerometer/pressure) is always on roughly about the same as screen time but it has a LOT of wakelocks. Might try disabling that for a while.
But I feel I should be getting much longer than I do. I do have facebook but it's time on and wakeups don't suggest any abnormalites.
I see mention of some people finding out what size their battery was, how are they doing this? Battery monitor widget says 3200mA but is there another method people are using?
Also, I seem to lose roughly 5% an hour battery mostly idling, this seems far too much.
Screen shot 1st day had razr maxx. As a test I turned on absolutely everything I could, 4g, wifi, bluetooth, gps and maxed out screen brightness and managed to still squeeze out 16hours of battery life. The entire time I was listening to music, texting, surfing the web, watching video's while running a live wallpaper.

Does acesoft battery offer good battery life?

I've used many batteries now like Anker 1900mah, Onite 1920mah,mugen 3600mah,.... The strongest one is definitely the mugen 3600mah, but it makes the phone too ugly with the back cover.Recently, I bought the gold 2450mah battery on ebay which costs only $5, and it is suck. It's worse than the stock battery, then I switch back to the Anker. However, the Anker can't provide enough juice for me, so I found a Acesoft battery. I haven't used Acesoft battery, but I found one review in this forum which marked Acesoft is not bad. I'm not sure anyone here has use this red Acesoft battery. On their website, it is 2400mah, but on Ebay, it's 2520mah and around $18. Im not sure about the quality. Can anyone actually have it, and used it tell me? Thanks.

Finally, I received this battery, and I'll show how it is now.

Second, I unplugged it this morning and it was at 100%. I went to my classes start from 8am to 1pm. I did some web browsing and watch some youtube video during that time. After get home at 1:30, I used winamp to listen to some musics, then spent about 5 minutes to play candy rush saga. I admit the candy rush saga drains my battery from 62% to 41% in just 5 minutes. Then I web browsing a little bit, and this is why I got
This is the time the phone is actually was used.
Acesoft 2530mah $17.98 (ebay.com)
The screen brightness is the same. I just unboxing it at 4pm and plugged it to my phone. It showed 98% battery, so I started draining it. I played candy rush saga, minion madness, and asphault 8 in total 20 minutes. The battery was at 98% down to 62% after playing those games. Then I watched youtube and did some web browsing. This is what I got
Time screen on
I want to see if the same amount of time was used, which battery gives me more juice. I think the Acesoft did better in my case. I'll post some more result after a few drain and full charge this battery; I hope it won't fail me. If you have $18 to spend on a battery, this must be an option you need to consider.
first charge
First full charge the battery, I woke up at 4am started using it. Dont' know why web browsing costs too much battery life. It costs about 1% battery life in 40 second while web browsing. I spent 14 minutes to play candy crush saga this time. Watching youtube video costs very little.
screen on
drain down to 2% by watching youtube. It costs like 1% battery per 5 minutes watching. Very good. I hope this same amount of time will apply for web browsing. Web browsing is too bad for battery life.
second charge
The second charge provides the same juice as the first charge. This is weekend, so I use my phone heavier than the other day in week. In this charge, I have no idea why web browsing costs less battery than watching youtube, and I mainly watching youtube in this charge. However, gaming doesn't change; candy crush saga drained my battery from 62% to 42% in just 5 minutes. My brother HTC one costs only 2% in the same 5 minutes gaming. Its crazy. I think this battery can last at least 4 hours screen on without gaming. If you want to play game on the Amaze, I think you need a charger or another battery.
after this review, if you have the same battery, you can post in here, so more people will have a better look how good it is. My amaze is 2 years old, and its running on Cm10.1 Dark Glass rev 2 Rom with Int.tweak ( without cpu adjustment), and most important thing is it is powered by Acesoft 2530mah (actually it is not 2530mah I think).

Battery life feedback

Hi all,
fews days ago i bought alg g watch (79€ in France in all Darty)
100% battery at 11:00 this morning,
73% battery at 23:30 this evening
Firmware 5.0.2 stock, stock applications, screen always on set to OFF, fit on, many notification (mail, twitter, fb, pushbullet and so ), and some friends on mine playing with google now at lunch.
This mean 23% for 12h of common usage.
happy. For a first watch, for 79€ only, for same hardware than new flagship (urbane) we still have a very good toy ^^

custom watchface (if you have) drain a lot of battery
Most of the time I only charge mine once every 2 or 3 days, but sometimes I have a very quick battery drain (screen always off, on on rotate, facer/watchmaker)
I have no idea of what causes it (nothing particular in the battery stats).
Ever since I rooted and installed a custom rom on my nexus 6 my LG G watch has been getting much better battery life. It's probably because of the decrease in notifications and less bluetooth disconnections. My watch use to only last till mid day, now at night I have 50% left.

I charge every day, more to have it available for use and not about to turn off when I go out.
But, I too am having fast drain issues. Usually, the trend is perfectly fine, like in the OP, but it will get into a faster drain rate and deplete after a couple to a few hours instead. Today it happened just sitting all day off my wrist. Went from full charge to 6% in 3-4 hours.
The battery will drain a fair amount on the first day of use since things get cached and downloaded from the phone. I easily get through a day with always-on screen on, but lately I have switched to disable always-on screen and tilt to wake so I have a little bit more of a buffer for those days where I am very active.
I just receive it few days ago and it is brand new one.
After full charge why mine G watch only live for 6-7 hours and run out of batt?
I use all stock and upgrade to 5.0.2. I think it should be longer usage.
Any solutions?

New LG G Watch
Just got it 2 days ago.
I first went through the upgrade to 5.1.1.
I have no custom wear faces on it. I ha it first at always on and then not.
I lost a lot of battery in 3 hours - 90% to 18%. Yes I had notifications on - what is the point if you don't have notifications on.
Please help.
really strange, after flashing 5.1 firware (after full wipe), i lost 2% per hour max.
I'm pretty ok with the battery life on 5.1.1 - haven't use my G Watch for a while now and thought I'd test the new version.
With display always on, notifications on, 50+ apps installed in total, Google Fit running and quite a few custom faces installed (using "Speeds" with time and step counter atm) and my stats show i get almost 30 hours of use.
Testing with display off today. Atm Wear Battery Stats estimates I'll run out of battery tomorrow at 6:20pm and I took it off charger this morning at 6am.
Still nothing stellar, but pretty decent so far.
I use it with display always on.
When on 5.0, It would drain to have about 30-40% after 1 day (from 6:00 to 23:00). Without the "always on", it could manage 3 to 4 days (but that was on 4.4).
On 5.1, it seems to manage to get 50-60% left after one day (again with "always on"). If I forget to charge it, it would be possible to squeeze another day out of it (with some luck).
I did, however had some days (on 5.0) where the watch would get warm and drain itself in 2-4 hours. These were very rare (I always thought these came from an app that got stuck), but in the week before the 5.1 update, I got this three times. I think it was somehow related to the update (maybe an incompatibility in the new Google Play services,...)
My battery life has been stellar on 5.1.1. On the earlier versions, I would be at 40-50% when I got home from work. After the update, I am at 70-75% when I get home.
Sent from my Galaxy Note 10.1 using Tapatalk
Battery life is great, but the bad side is that now I often forget to recharge it and today the battery was empty. I can't remember last time I recharged it and the charger is at home.
Damn, i'm complaining because the battery last longer :silly:
something is wrong 3 factory reset later and not bt use and after few hours empty
my battery life decreased dramatically after the 5.1.1 update
After 5.1.1, my watch is lasting much longer. No more battery drain. Happy here!
Likewise, much better battery life and I can turn off FIT to improve it even more.

Nougat battery life

Same thing here after updating. Android OS is currently at the top with 10% followed by Android System with 9% in my phone at the moment. System is draining more than the screen. Weird.
Same here. On DP5 battery life was better for me.
same for me, system and Android on top, weird.
What's the reported "Keep Awake" time for those processes? Right now, for me, is Screen on top with 10%, Android System and Android OS next with 8% each. However, the keep awake time is only 3m41s and 11s respectively. That doesn't look too bad, actually.
The OS requires almost a week to settle. Calm your tits.

I installed it last night and so far today I'm at 3% per hour after 9hr25min elapsed. This only has an hour of screen time but that includes about 20 HDR photos (which in MM would have KILLED my battery), BT and WiFi are both on continuously but not connected, GPS is on high accuracy, screen timeout at 1 min, several reboots cycles (trying to figure out how to wipe the cache), etc. In other words, I'm on track for a 30+ hour day, and I'm not doing one thing to try to conserve the battery. Granted there's not much SoT so far but still, I'm impressed. Even more so because tribal knowledge seems to think that the OS needs a few days to "settle down" before true battery life can be assessed. I'm not sure I really buy into that but if it is true, the battery endurance should be stunning...
Have been getting the same results in the Beta and now with final release having the same problem./ Battery life is no good. And doze doesn't seem to kick in even at night. Android os and Android System taking as much mah as the screen. Not good.

Here's what mine's doing so far. Note that it seems to Doze more or less the instant the screen shuts off.
Same issue here, battery life isn't super impressive.
These don't have much meaning without context: How are you using them? How much SoT? Are all the radios on? Etc...
Did factory reset. See if it helps. I'll post after it, "settles in"
Doze seems to kick in, but I don't know whether made it more or less aggressive than before (I'm guessing less), where battery gains are now, and how they're spread out. On MM, I was getting the typical 2-3% drop every night. For the past three nights with N, the drop is 5-6%.
Received the device a few hours ago and updated to N.
All default settings, no additional app.
No 3G/lte as I don't have yet a nano sim.
Bt is on but not connected.
Positioning is on battery saving.
Screen brightness is at 33%.
After 40mn of web surfing with wifi, or playing with the menus I lost 6%.
I'm happy with that :good:

Quick question how did you update so quickly if you just got it?
My second cycle but this time with Ninja Kernel and some kernel tweaks. With sync and location enabled the whole time. Lots of web browsing, video streaming, plus a few minutes of gaming and phone calls. It's not spectacular but not too terrible for me either.
Mine isn't bad. Updated from DP5 using OTA in TWRP.
Unencrypted, rooted, with EX kernel and some CPU profile.

Getting about an hour less sot on nougat than m.
They seemed to have fixed the performance issues of m by sacrificing screen on battery life.

Screen on time

It's amazing how much we actually use our phones in a given day, especially when we watch "videos"! Rate this thread to express how many hours of screen-on time you can get on the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 before depleting the battery.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Getting about 10:30 sot will update later
I use the chinese version since it came out ~ 2 Months.
I mostly have been using the stable chinese MIUI rom with no tweaks whatsoever. With that I usually (I dont play any games) get a consistent 10h screen on, even with longer GPS usage (Didi, Ofo). With only wifi it goes up to 12-15 hours depending on usage.
I also tried MIUI9, but was let down. Like with my previous Max 1, for some reason the "call standby" uses quite some energy. This is usually not the case for stable ROMs.
Global Stable rom V8.5.6.0.(NDDMIED)

No heavy usage..on 4G all the time.. stock MIUI..
No gaming, 10-11h for 3 full days of usage (Wi-fi, Gps, 4g)
With gaming 6-7h for 3 full days of usage (Wi-fi, Gps, 4g)
Only WiFi, 13h of SOT, on 5% battery (approximately)
Mixed 4G and WiFi, 10-11h SOT on 5% battery (approximately)
Only 4G, 8h30m SOT on 5% battery (approximately)
No gaming with the above stats. Depending on the usage. Usually browsing, music, some videos and some app usage. Oh, and phone and messaging (plus some facebook/messenger/viber )
At work I mostly have 4G on, not touching the phone all day (just some times), usually. This means that the idle time is actually draining some of the battery. The above times are with minimal idle times, to have a better opinion about the screen on time.
With me not touching the phone much, the battery lasts 4 to 5 days and even 6 days, before I put it to the charger (means no heavy usage at all but I always have 4G on at work, so keep that in mind).
I charge it with 1.2A charger, from 15-20% to 100% or sometimes (when it is not over night) , to 90% (I do not complete a charging cycle EVERY time charging this way). I have heard it is better to do it that way, than with fast charger. I use fast charger only if necessary.
WiFi and gaming, almost 8h SOT.
4G and gaming 7h SOT. Same with the above applies here. Only tried those things to see what the SOT will be.
Keep in mind that my signal at home is not so good, so I keep it 2G Only when at home, to avoid searching for better signal all the time. When outside it is on "prefered LTE". Some people might not want to do that all the time and it is completely understandable, but having poor signal at home, it is the only "smart" thing to do
me 16h with airplane mode on night, and 3 or 3,5 days of usage, wifi on all day, data mobile to 2g, social whatsapp, talking people forums selling things, mailing and much youtube videos, its insane
and with more than 150 apps installed and root
