I had one also. Didnt care about losing root since it is easy to re-do. I took the OTA however it failed to install with "error". It put me back to my previous build and that was it. Update doesnt show as being available anymore. Oh well...
In order for the ota to work you need to be on the stock recovery, kernel and system files. Make sure you're on those and the ota works fine

I'm in the same boat. Just got my OTA notification but I'm hesitant to upgrade given the issues I've been reading. I'm 100% stock and unrooted running build LRX21L.
Any suggestions?

The new firmware works great. I'm not sure what issues you are reading about?
Sent from my Nexus 9 using XDA Free mobile app
I've read of WiFi issues, lags and general hiccups with the new OTA. To be fair, most of the issues I read about were with older Nexus device (5, 7 and 10). I'll go ahead and upgrade with my fingers crossed...
Reverting to stock
I also rooted but have gained zero benefit this early on. Are the factory images out and is that the best way to be able to take the update?
Thanks for any help!

I had the same error.
Using the stock recovery diddent fix it for me.
I just downloaded the latest factory image from google.
And manualy flashed it to my nexus 9.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-9/general/videos-nexus-9-how-to-unlock-bootloader-t2935587
Look up the vid were he updates to the q update.
Just replace the files he uses with the latest factory image files from google.
What's interesting is that even with the error my system says it is on R now. I then rooted again and my tablet seems to be running fine. I debated just wiping it out and flashing the stock image, I'll do that if I ruin into any strange problems...

there is a new FW update available, installig now I will report later. I'm in mexico.
UPDATE
is official version 9.4.2.15. update was without problems, GPS seems to be the same (useless in door) everything else works fine, I will continue testing.
If anyone can find me the zip file of this firmware ...
Need it since I can't OTA because it reboots before finishing the "First configuration" steps
Thank you
Here we go again...lol. I'm always one of the first on these posts..ill check now. I was running the beta .15 build. Time for the official one now
Edit: says no update available yet. Might not have hit east coast yet. Post a screenshot of your about tablet of info. Or post what version it says you on now.
No Issues So Far (fingers crossed)
Installed without issue. Lost root restored with OTA RootKeeper.
EDIT: I've seen at least one "helpful" response to my post so I wanted to clarify the I lost root doing the update BUT I restored it with OTA RootKeeper.
UPDATE: No discernible improvement in GPS. Still nonexistent since .13. Everything else seems fine.
UPDATE 02/25/12: Maybe it was the weather yesterday but this morning I picked up 11 sats in my den and locked on 4. Woohoo!
Can confirm it. USA, NY. OTA update, Build #epad-9.4.2.15-20120221

Be careful! We had a few people brick their prime after trying to flash an official Asus rom/update after unlocking. Plenty of threads on it. I would just wait til virtuous rom updates. Check out the other threads on issue. You don't want to risk bricking your device.
Also in Canada..installing right now.

I wonder I'd the people who running beta .15 build will even get this update. It looks like exact same build number. So if nothing else changed then we already on latest build. Can someone who received official OTA post a screenshot to see if anything has changed? Or if someone was running the beta build post if you still received the new OTA.
Can someone post a list of the driver versions so we can see what changed? I think this is just a continuation of the random-reboot fixes, but I'd like to know if any of the wireless drivers were updated.
..so what do we do now?
Reset by clearing just data and apps, or using the "magic hole" and make a complete reset?
A link to this 15 fw would be nice when possible.
Great! just updated, looked like it is going smoother!
Just ran Quadrant benchmark to test if it goes a bit faster or slower
score is : 3834, is it me or has it gotten slower?
Got the .15 installing now in St Louis...
Only just found out this morning that, while my GPS works most of the time, and wireless works fantastically, BT doesn't see anything at all... maybe I'll get lucky and this will fix that.

My beta build looks exactly like this. So it was only beta since we tested it out I guess. Now that it got great feedback, they pushed the same thing out to everyone.

Gosh unbelievable!!!!!!
Unlocked ? Your device is not an Asus device anymore!
You agreed this when unlocking your device! Didn't you read the agreement ?
You can't install any ASUS firmware update anymore: OTA, manually, or any other method you could imagine !
The only way is to have a system dump, or uncompress/extract the blob file, pick the modified files and include them in a ROM or make an update zip for unlocked devices I guess. I don't have skills for that perhaps someone will do that.
Here is my screenshot from beta .15 build I installed last night. Looks identical to screenshot of new OTA update.
So I just received a 1MB OTA which took my version up to 4.2.1. At the very least, it fixes the missing December issue in the People app. Given the size, I doubt there's too much more in there.
Any performance improvement? Can you run an AnTuTu 3 test?
Keep root? Any problem with unlocked bootloader (but stock cmw and rom, only bootloader unlocked)?

It's not visibly faster, although I didn't have any performance issues before either. Disabling Currents pretty much fixed it for me. I can't find antutu 3 on the Play Store, is it just called "antutu"?

Does the update keep root?

Were you experiencing any freezing or reboots prior to the update? I wonder if this addresses that issue. If not, this thing is going back.

I dunno, maybe I'll just unroot, relock and grab the OTA...then try to re-root and unlock again.
Any chance you can still catch the filename of the downloaded file?
I have not yet received the ota update. I'm currently using unrooted 4.2nexus10. Buy I'm currently in the Philippines...

You should get the update eventually automatically. Otherwise (once someone provides an update URL) you can just take the package, and adb sideload it from Recovery (boot device to recovery; do update from adb or whatever it's called; on the PC, do adb sideload UPDATE-NAME.zip)

Then please tell us the exact filename of that zip file. It should look like this:
Code:
123abc456def.signed-manta-JOP40D-from-JOP40C.123abc45.zip
The numbers in front and at the end are especially important.
You can maybe clear data from the Google Services Framework and then try polling for the update.
I just want to know if I am unlocked and rooted will I keep those? I am still on stock recovery and rom, but I did add AOSP browser to system/apps manually so that may need to be removed I believe.

Just wanted to know how everyone is preparing for android 4.3 which I'm sure is to be announced and available later on today.
Custom ROM users: are you flashing back to stock?
As a rooted and custom ROM user, I'm torn between flashing back to stock for update or just waiting a few weeks until its baked into some awesome ROMs. Thoughts?

Not doing anything. Doesn't really bother me. Once it's released, if it is found to have some must-have improvements, then i'll most likely wait for AOKP to incorporate it, but for now, my tablet works just fine and i can't see a reason to consider changing things up.

That's fair. For me though, honestly I may end up flashing back just to resolve the Mali driver issue. On my n10 it is a huge problem and I may not be able to wait any longer to resolve it, so hopefully 4.3 includes the drivers. We'll see.

I also plan to just wait until it makes its way to CM. I'm planning on building my ROMs from source from this point on (adding PDroid and some other local changes) and it shouldn't take too long until CM is updated. I picked CM mainly because their build instructions are the best I've been able to find.
Just announced that starting today, Android 4.3 will be pushed to the Nexus 4, Nexus 7, Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 10.
Hi guys,
Do you recon 4.3 will need wipe or non - wipe? hope its non-wipe

While I'm not positive, I'm fairly certain that you update even without stock recovery, but you will use root unless you use an app called "OTA Root keeper"

Flashed mine, wiped all data, but works fine (I had restored to stock rom and recovery beforehand).
Notable changes include slightly snappier response, miracast support, and apparently finger flinger is fixed (read that in a other thread, i'm not rooted so can't check)

I had that problem when I flashed the old OS after unlocking bootloader when I got the N10. A subsequent data wipe fixed it:
1. Reboot into Fast Boot
2. Select Recovery using volume rocker. Hit power to select. You'll get the android mascot with the red exclamation point.
4. Press Power and Volume Up at the same time (this is the side of the volume rocker that is away from the power button for those new to the device).
5. Choose to wipe all data. Confirm the selection.
6. Reboot.
I have my rablet rooted and bootloader unkocked. If i update via OTA i will lose root i suppose? I heard that the bootloader changes too. It will be relocked?
I have been seeing a lot of folks talking about just going back to complete stock to install the update.
Is that the best option? Are we able to root 4.3 yet?
Do you need to reset S-off on the phone or what? I have seen a few different things out there today talking about this. My phone downloaded the update and keeps asking me to install ever so often but of course won't as I don't have the stock recovery console.
All help and info is appreciated!
I'm using Avatar ROM and my phone isn't even prompting me with the update. I'm really happy with my phone now so I'll give it a few days and wait for feedback on it.

I have just been using stock rooted as I have needed to keep my wifi calling.
I am used to Samsung's and Moto's and this is my first HTC I have worked with so the process of doing everything is a bit different.
Is there a way I can just flash stock recovery back and then install the update and be good to go?

You can leave s-off but you need to go back to stock Rom and recovery to receive ota. I have a link posted a link in the ota is coming thread that will help you return to stock. If you updated firmware you just need to use a usb otg and a usb mouse cause touchscreen won't work

So I'm running a stock Nexus 10 for development purposes. I picked it up this morning to do a little debugging work and noticed ANOTHER system update was available. I can't seem to find any news about it since it appears to be so new. Perhaps a critical bug fix?
Android : 4.4.2
Kernel : 3.4.39-g5b5c8df [email protected] #1 Wed Nove 20 15:12:05 PST 2013
Build Number : KOT49H
I can't provide a screenshot because I'm a new user apparently.

I haven't even gotten 4.4.1 yet. I'm assuming they found bugs with it and 4.4.2 should fix them. Well I guess that's the benefit of the slow roll outs.

I have sideloaded the 442 update but now it takes forever on the Google startup page. Any ideas?
Performance was noticeably much better after the update. I was having some stability issues with the initial Kit Kat release but this seems to have made things buttery smooth again.
I received 4.4.2 OTA 5 minutes before, but when I rebooted it showed error, the reason might be that I deleted Korean input method several days before... However now I check update, the OTA totally disappeared. How to receive that OTA again? And do I need use adb to sideload that damned Korean input?
edit: I tried to sideload and TWRP log indeed showed that KoreanIME.apk has unexpected content. However after I pushed the apk into system/app, I still can't sideload 4.4.2. Anyone help please?
I just got the 4.4.2 right away straight from 4.4. Installed fine now I gotta reroot.
