Hey, sometimes my phone just completely freezes, I can't do anything apart from switching off and then back on again and when I switch it back on the battery drops half. Or when the battery drains completely, when I plug it in it starts charging at around 14-15%. You can see both on the screenshot. Is my battery about to die, or is it some kind of bug? I'm on CM11, with stock battery. Sorry, I can't post links yet.

First you can try wipe data factory reset and clean wipe all reboot !!
If still the problem persists then
Change your kernel ... I'm using cm11 m12 snapshot latest with dorimanx !!!
Do full wipe data factory reset, format system and install the above !!
This should fix the freezes.
And if you still are seeing some battery drain then use Betterbattery stats to find the wakelocks responsible and disable them !!
But i dont have any above mentioned problems with my present rom, Im using Dorimanx + cm11 m12 Snapshot i9100 presently !!
You don't need to wipe. The problem isn't because of the kernel/ROM/data, it's because of some file that needs to be deleted. I'll find the tutorial and link it here.
Edit: I can't find it, it might take some time

Really doubt that this will fix this guys problem. Trust me, rom or kernel or app related issue. You are better off doing a full wipe then reflash the rom. But yes, resetting the fuel gauge, using a custom kernel, will solve the drop of battery life when you restart your phone.

Hi everyone,
Since this morning I'm having a small issue with my phone's battery details. All it's showing is Android OS, with 100% usage. I've rebooted the phone and it remains the same. Here's the screenshot of the situation:

(the link has to be like this because I don't have 10 posts yet, apparentely)
Do you guys know why this is happening and how it can be solved? Thanks!
One use phone it should reset .
Or backup data and factory reset .
Or via CWM recovery Wipe Battery Stats .
jje
Just clear the battery stats with CWM.
Thanks guys, that was it. Easy as pie!

okay so i got my sgs2 second hand yesterday and rooted it within 15 minutes (it was still in warranty then )
I am on rr2.7 with siyah 4.1.5 kernel
i have a weird problem. If i use my phone for surfing internet for say a half hour it gets hot and then the battery just falls from 50% charged to 15+ % something like say 17%.
I read my share before posting this.
on one place it says that after a couple of discharge cycles , the new kernel will know better and this will fade out
on other place it says its a calibration error and i need to reset the battery controller .
I am still confused and i am not getting anywhere. Please help !
i have on xxlps modem is thats necessary
I am not expert but in the past I tried siyah kernel few times and everytime I had such an issue with battery drain and hot back cover. when changed kernel everything back to normal.
oops i forgot to mention. this isnt just limited to siyah kernel . i switched back to stock rom and cfroot kernel the phenomenon is still there man i need some answers !
have you try to remove battery for 15 seconds? what about pure stock rom (with no root)?
nah i didnt try try no root . i read about some permanent bricking when rooting stock i dont wanna risk it. further investigating .my phone reports 2 different series of battery values sort of separated by 35percent .65 turns to 100 16 turns to 50n so on. any ideas ?
Mate did u wipe delvik/cache partition before flash rom

how is your battery drain in standby?
post a log from BBS
get a system monitor and check CPU usage/clock
could be a hardware issue too
I did wipe dalvik but not cache. Wants cache partition for anyways? I m trying calibrating but I dont think our phone needs it. If dis doesn't work I will wipe cache.

Hey guys,
having a trouble for the last couple weeks.
about 5-6 times a day, with no apparent reason, nor something specific i'm doing.
my phone suddenly freezes and the screen goes black, and the notifications led goes blue (not blinking, permanent blue).
only way out of this is long pressing the power button, and the phone goes back on, as if it was turned off.
tried to find out the source of the problem but with no luck.
i'm using
GT-i9300 S3
Rom: cfDroid v13.1 - based on XXEMA2 (4.1.2 android)
Kernel: Perseus alpha 33 (the latest)
Modem: DXELK1
Mods: JKay, acid soundmod, and some other that comes with cfDroid rom
Anyway to pin point the problem and take care of it without having to fully wipe and install a fresh rom?
if you need any more details please ask and i'll post.
Thanks
Are you undervolting the cpu?
No i dont

i have the same problem. wiping dalvik cache and cache doesnt fix that problem.
Rom: Omega Rom v43
Kernel: Perseus 33.2
currently im switching over to yank and report back, if the problem is gone.
Hey, please update if it is kernel related.
i want to know this before re-flashing the rom
Thanks!
i'm running yank since 2h and the problem is gone... please test this and report back, so we can send Andrei a message.

Hi there.
I got a very similar problem.
Screen freezes and turns black.
I ran an continues kernel output and saw a mmc action, but i removed the card before i booted up.
(See pastebin below for kernel log)
And besides the screen is black and the device isn't responding, the kernel is still active and running.
First my specs:
Model: GT-I9300
Android: 4.1.2 (latest Stock)
Base: I9300BUEMA1
Stock-Kernel: 3.0.31-919627 [email protected] #1 SMP PREEMPT

My kernel log:
pastebin.com/hRSpzu0D
I hope somebody is more kernel knowledge can take a look at the paste.
Thanks in advance.
Ok too early to be glad.
the problem is back, only now its less frequent, and the device simply turns off.
no blue led.
Now trying to flash Yanks kernel and will report back in a day.

I am on stock. I only added root to be able to see the kernel log.
So it appears to me it isn't really rom related. More like 'something in 4.1.2'.
I wish i could put my finger on it.
Regards.
edit:
Maybe we should start to compare the hardware components?
maybe I solved that.

There was some user reported that problem the last few days...
I had a similar issue, opened a thread yesterday, followed after Slaphead20 advice and make a factory reset.
what i've done was:
factory reset, cache delet from the recovery mode.
flashed and old rom, let kies do the upgrade.
(backed up through myback up) and re-install only what I really needed.
now the phone seem to be running much faster, no lag at all.
i'm still waiting to see if it's freeze.
Still, I think it a software related since so many users start feel those freezes at the same time, it might be some bug in the last update.

normally wiping battery stats doing nothing. its an old android myth.... but if you want do it anyway..:
to wipe battery stats, charge the phone for 1 hr to make sure its on 100% then go to /data/system & delete the batterystats.bin file. reboot.
but i think its rom bug. to make sure you can install Legacy xperia rom. if this bug still persists in this rom, flash stock ics via flashtool. if problem then still there your battery is broken

"go to /data/system" is this on SD card?
"charge the phone for 1 hr to make sure its on 100%" i tried that, on display said 100% but when battery on 77%, it will shut down, (100% - 77%= 23%)
1 more, when i remove my battery, and replace it , then i charge in off condition , no matter how long i charge my phone, its stuck on 1\4 icon (maybe 23 %)

crazy..... sorry maybe i cant really help you
/data/system --> its in root directory the 1st directory (" / ") on phone, just use a root explorer. the battery calibration app does the same. (delets this file)
okay good. if on other rom you not have this bug, its good.:good: so we can say battery is fine & also your hardware.
im pretty sure its rom (maybe installation going wrong.) bug or some other weird problem.... but cant say anything because its confusing.
also you say that battery calibration app no work on the other rom...... you can try to delete the batterystats.bin file (this is what your battery app do if charged to 100%) maybe it helps... (hope best for you)
if nothing helps on this rom, you can try a fresh install (FORMAT /data /system /cache from recovery & install rom + gapps) & maybe you also need to a flash a stock ICS.ftf with flashtool first, then install rom. it solves sometimes weird bugs.
anyway good luck to you to solve this problem:good:

Hmm if that's the case it could actually be an application setting or something is screwed up...
First would be to root your device and use BetterBatteryStats app and let it monitor a full device cycle from full battery. It requires root access in order to work properly. If you're lucky it will state what app or service is causing the massive battery drain.
Next suggestion if you're unable to resolve the app or service causing the battery drain is to try to wipe data, system, dalvik and cache and reinstalling your ROM and Gapps of choice. Next please be sure to set up the device as a new one and not recover a backup. It could potentially recreate the same issue.
If that doesn't work? Sadly the next thing to try is a little more extreme...
Back up everything important onto a PC or cloud storage and then reboot into TWRP.
Next plug a USB cable from your PC to the phone and then download your ROM and Gapps of choice to the PC.
Now in TWRP do a format data in the wipe settings. It will wipe everything from the device.
Then use your PC to transfer the ROM and Gapps of choice to the device and install them.
Set up device as a new one and don't do a restore a cloud backup.
Hope for the best!
I ll try this tips tomorrow, thank you
I bought the app "betterbatterystat" , is it normal to have the deep sleep to like 90 % and wifi too ? i don't really use my phone but i lost a lot without doing nothing on it ( every rom stock or not).
